I tried this place one evening on a whim - when I was in the mood for cookies. I ordered the compost cookie and the blueberry cream cookie. They were pretty good, and the compost cookie has some interesting bits of flavor. It would have been nice to see a regular chocolate chip cookie, which is what I was craving. Also I would like to try some of the other desserts such as the cake or pie here. They will warm up the cookies for you so they do taste fresh.

All hype. Over rated. Under delivered. Kinda gross.1. Poor service. I had questions but the staff seemed completely aloof or high. Not sure. Either way I gave up on ordering anything off the menu because I would say one thing and the worker would repeat back something different. I thought maybe I wasnt loud enough so I got louder and I still wasnt being heard. Then they chose on their own no receipt for us. Rude.2. Strawberry Short Cake Caramel Snap...too sweet and messy. All the frosting flaked off everywhere. It was hardly a snap...more like a confused mess.3. Compost Cookie...salty! Salty! Salty. I wasnt sure if I was tasting actual compost.4. Strawberry Soft Serve...lame. After about 2 bites the sweetness and strawberry taste was overrun by...you guess it...SALT!I love salt. This was so weird. When youre expecting sweet and you get an abundance of salt something is off on your baking chemistry. Start over.

Weve never been to the original milk bar in New York City, so we can’t really tell you how this compares to that, but we can tell you this one is delicious. We got a cookie sampler of chocolate confetti, compost, cornflake chocolate chip marshmallow, and blueberry & cream as well as a slice of pie and the original soft serve with cornflake topping. We ate the soft serve first. We enjoyed how the cornflakes gave a bit of crunchy texture to the soft serve, which was perfect on this hot summer day. The flavor was definitely unique. One of us enjoyed it more than the other, who said it had a strange almost sour quality, but not quite. Didnt stop us from finishing it, though. The pie was yumminess. Reminiscent of a pound cake in flavor with a gooey texture and crisp crust. As for the cookies, they were all moist and slightly chewy. Perfect texture. We both enjoyed the chocolate confetti the best with one liking the marshmallow as a runner up and the other liking the compost. Line went quick and service was as sweet as the treats.

Online order* Milk bar pie is so amazing and delicious. It reminds me of a vacuum bar or very similar to a lemon bar but instead of the lemon flavor it’s butter cake flavored. The same level of sweetness but not over bearing and the same consistency. This is a treat I’ve been looking for, for quite some time. It’s really good!

Service is good but the products are awful. Well as far as Shakes go at least. Think of it like a foster freeze or Baskin robbins but repackaged and sold as a premium product. These tiny milkshakes cost $10.50 with tax. I mean this is a childs size shake. I go to the real Milk and theirs is at least 4 more ounces plus it taste amazing. This place is trash and only giving it 2 stars because staff was polite.

After reading all these HORRIBLE reviews I wont be going here. Bummer! It looks inviting online (cute, right?) but overpriced, too sweet (or salty) and stale. Come on Milkbar!! Get it together. Live up to your (supposed) good reputation and revamp your menu. Youre on Melrose for gods sake...start making fresh baked goods, less sugar AND salt and take a few bucks off your items and you might really have a good business here! Do better. I dare you. ♡♡♡ I will come in, try your treats, write an excellent review and bring others with me. *Id like to add that I went over to this place and it is quite dark inside and uninviting looking. What you see in person is NOT what you see online. There is no way Id buy these overpriced plastic wrapped cookies which arent that great anyway! This place is truly fine. If you’re expecting good cake and ice cream, this is a fine spot. However, paying triple high prices and waiting in a long line are not worth it in my opinion. This place exists because of hype alone. Might be 4 stars if prices weren’t so ridiculously high for tiny portions (advertised with misleadingly large portions pictured in online ordering). Much smaller than advertisedBy item:- Birthday cake: good but could do without the cream cheese in the frosting which I feel overpowered the cake- Birthday cake milkshake: WAY too much. Like someone blended a whole piece of cake with a whole shaker of sprinkles and a little bit of ice cream.- cereal milk soft serve: good, but lost its unique flavor after a couple bites and then tasted like vanilla. Much smaller than advertised

They have some really good cookies, especially the blueberry & cream and cornflake-chocolate-chip-marshmallow. The crunchy fruity cereal shake is also great. It’s a chill spot on Melrose. Not much parking, but the same goes for basically everything else on Melrose. Staff is laidback but attentive. Only downside is the price. All the menu items feel about 15% more expensive than they should be.

After seeing how the celebrity pastry chef Christina Tosi started her Bakery shop in NY with Momofuku on Ugly Delicious Netflix show, I was ready to fly to New York to visit Milk Bar. When they opened their shop in Hollywood, I was excited and cant wait to taste the famous cereal milk soft serve. But after I saw on TV that this popular bakery has lines wrapping around the block pretty much all day, I just put off going there.Yesterday, I was watching the Chef Show on Netflix and saw Milk Bar on one of the episodes, being FOMO, I decided that I have to go this Sunday to get some goodies from this bakery.Luckily, the line was only 10 minutes long. But the shop is open for take out order only due to the pandemic. We didnt get to see the inside and there was no baking classes. We went crazy on ordering their bake goods. My son got a few boxes of cookies including the sampler for his friends and co-workers in San Diego. My wife and I ended up having their famous cereal soft serve. The taste of the cereal soft serve reminded me of my childhood days. When I was a kid, I love drinking the milk left in the bowl after I ate all the cereals. The soft serve tasted just like the left over cereal milk, smooth and sweet.Although I didnt eat their cookies, but looking at my sons satisfying face, I knew the cookies must be real good. I will come back to get some cakes and cookies next time.

I have a soft spot for Milk Bars unabashed approach on pure, indulgent desserts. They dont shy away from satisfying sugary, creamy cravings (birthday cake, milkquakes, cereal milk soft serve). Meh. Nothing special for the 20 minute wait, especially considering everything was prepackaged like you’d find in a store. Went on a Friday night so it was bustling with those LA teens that make you wonder “Where do you get the allowance to be buying $18 sundaes?” The Crack Pie was pretty tasty, but is also pretty easy to bake at home which costs a fraction of the $6 per slice you’ll pay here. Overall, everything was on par with a Ralph’s bakery section.

Thats not a bad thing its just really rich and decadent so we couldnt finish everything and saved half for the next day.Oddly enough everything tasted better and made sense when we ate it the next day.Her cookies taste like a child made them. I also ordered 2 books. perhaps they choose to use a third party company to package and ship the orders, but the company they chose is not doing a sufficient job. There was absolutely no communication of the missing items and definitely no communication of getting a refund. I have emailed milkbar.com because they do not answer the phone. I finally got to try Milk Bar over the weekend. I thought the overall experience was good, but nothing to write home about. The shop is located on tiny corner lot next door to Winchells Donut, just look for pink milk truck parked in front and a crowd gathered for a photo-op. Surprisingly, there were no lines on mid-afternoon Sunday and I was able to just walk right in. Besides being a bake shop that sells cakes, pies, cookies and soft serve ice cream, Milk offers baking classes to customer. The kitchen lab is in front of entrance and you can witness want-to-be bakers in action behind glass window. One thing I noticed about this place is that most of the items sold were pre-package and pre-portion. I expected fresh bake items on display, radiating the air with sweet aromatics...none were present. Everything was sealed tightly in plastic and nicely packed in boxes. Whole cakes were on display and came with hefty price tag of $49 small size and $99 large size cakes. For that price, I probably wouldnt share. LOL!I ordered a cup of pineapple soft serve with cereal crunch topping and slice of their famous birthday cake. The pineapple soft serve is their version of Dole whip which I thought was good, but not better than Disneyland. The birthday cake was in the same category as well. Cake was moist and vanilla frosting on point...nothing special about it. Just another okay moment for me...tasted like something you can buy at Ralphs or Vons. Thin slice portion of cake for $6.If you feel the need to come here due the media buzz and looking for wow factor, you might be in for a surprise. For me, Im so glad I tried it but I probably wouldnt go back.

I was really excited to try Milk bar after watching Chefs table. I tried the crack pie and the cereal milk flavored ice cream. Of the two I liked the crack pie much better. However, I was surprised by how small it was. Was barely bigger than a McDonald’s apple pie and cost six dollars. It tastes good but not amazing. The crust is particularly good.I thought the cereal milk ice cream was ok. Soft serve isn’t my favorite and I would prefer normal ice cream. The cereal milk idea really appealed to me since I love drinking the left over mill after having a bowl of cereal but not so much cornflakes. The place is also really small and cramped with almost no seating. I listened to a number of podcasts where chef Tosi talked about the opening and the business aspects of it. I get trying to keep costs down but this is a bit ridiculous considering how much everything costs. Some how they fit a cake making school in here. Just not good. I know they have fame, but honestly, their products (I had the birthday cake and two cookies) taste VERY sweet and artificial. They are clearly relying on sugar and fat, not quality ingredients or technique, to try and make their product taste good, with no success. It tastes like something you would pick up at the grocery store. Was not bad, per se, if you want grocery store quality. But for the price, go for a different local bakery that will give you that hommade taste. I didnt even finish my milk bar products, sadly. Not good at all. Also, my cookies came in plastic bags when I ordered them. Totally grocery store style. Whats the point of that from a bakery? Take my word and skip it, despite the popular name.

Dont just get a single pack of truffles. Save yourself a trip and get a full dozen. They are PERFECT treats and make great gifts.

The slice of chocolate birthday cake I got was alright but not for the $9 price tag. However, the cake truffles were delightful—albeit expensive as well.

Cookie tasted like it was 10 years old. Who goes to a bakery and expects to get their cookie in a plastic package that looks like you got it in a vending machine. Was rock solid, threw them straight into the trash after 1 bite.

I cant believe I had never been here before! I love gelato and mochi! Having them together is just as great as chocolate and peanut butter eaten together! Well, almost, lol.

I have been curious about milk bar for a while. I was walking past and it was not too crowded so I decided to check it out. I chose a cereal shake, which was delicious. It was slightly sweet, slightly salty - a different tastes then you would normally get in a milkshake. Service was fast, they had samples, and they had other good looking things on the menu. I have to go back to try some more.

We saw this place just for the mere fact that the owner Christina Tosi was a judge on Masterchef and wanted to see just how good it was.We got confetti cookie and a 3 pack of strawberry shortcake truffles. The cookie was not dry and very moist especially for being close to a sugar cookie, which is usually the downfall for most sugar cookies. The truffles tasted just like a condensed version of a my favorite strawberry shortcake, dense and very moist at the same time. The building itself is located in the heart of Melrose, such a beautiful white building. Not huge and not too small but it was quaint. I cannot wait to come back and try some more.

I had low expectations since I’m not a fan of super sweet deserts, BUT! The birthday cake is one of the best cakes I had in my life! Also cereal milk soft serve is delicious! Max and Joe were super helpful and nice. Will go again 100%!
