I’m all about supporting small business but this place is nothing special. Pretty expensive. Plus the owner is kind of rude without realizing it.
I had a great experience here. The sales person (Ryan) was helpful, friendly, knowledgable, and (I thought) honest and candid. The equipment was top quality. I got an excellent price, although to be fair it was the previous years model, so had a special discount. Delivery 2 days later was prompt, on time, and professional. I highly recommend this store.
On the good side, everyone wanted to please and performed as represented - well, mostly. .I never write reviews and I have to ask myself why this situation irritates me to the point of writing one.The story: we purchased a $2500 (approximately) recumbent exercise bike by True (highly recommended by the sales person at California Home Fitness) that completely stopped working after 3 years. The parts were warrantied but the service wasnt and the service rates were exorbitant. $90 for a service call to confirm, yes the bike was broken and the broken part was one of two replaceable parts. Then there needed to be a second service call at $100 per hour to install the new part.So my irritation is three fold.1. That the bike - which received only nominal use - broke after three years and this was viewed as normal and that is why there is a warranty for three years. (Reasoning that makes no sense by the way). We own dozens of other electrical items that last far more than three years: toasters, room air conditioners, irons, blenders, Cuisinarts, to name a few. Additionally, after telling my story to a company representative, he told me that True was a very good company. Well, certainly not in my experience, which apparently was irrelevant.2. That we needed a power surge cord on the bike. Fine. We should have been told that in the first place. In huge letters. None of the other appliances listed above have power surge cords.Just our computers. Who knew and exercise bike would be so sensitive.3. The warranty was worthless and a scam. The extra part was minuscule and could have been carried in the truck and simply replaced, not a multi-hundred dollar expense.California Fitness and True both have to well aware of this failure rate. There you go. Now you can make up your own mind or at least go in forewarned. .
Great selections and prices
