Buyers Beware:I advised a relative to do a rollover in 2016, as gold was relatively low in price and economic conditions seemed to favor another bull run.Unfortunately, my relative, who wasnt an experienced investor, was advised to buy Gold Eagle Proofs, which were allegedly selling for 60-70% over spot at the time (although I cannot find any evidence online to support this pricing claim).Fast forward to 2020: gold has gone up 40%. The premium on Proofs has completely disappeared, however. American Bullion offered to buy the proofs back at $10 UNDER spot; this would however represent a 10% overall loss in the face of an established bull market.To recoupe these losses, the price of gold will need to reach $2000. Instead of enjoying a 70% ROI, my family will break even. I cannot adequately express how disappointed I am by that.The specialists Ive spoken to claim they believed the upside of buying proofs at roughly 60-70% total markup justified the markup (and their premiums). I was upset when I heard they were adding this much additional speculation to the overall risk of investment when my relative received the first statement.I wouldnt take financial advice from these folks. Theyll encourage a riskier position than I believe prudent for smart low-risk investments. Losing a client money during a bull market is about as bad as it gets.

This company is a scam, my husband is a senior, bought coins worthy $2000, 7 months ago never received the coins nor his money back until today, Whenever he calls to ask about his money back they are very rude to him.

A couple of years ago I was hounded by a salesman from American Bullion named Dan Callabrese. My self directed IRA uses them for precious metal investments. I was in the market to purchase gold and unfortunately listened to this very unethical salesman about the value of buying proof coins vs bullion. He bombarded me with what turned out to be false information and statistics regarding the increase in value of collectable coins. I have to blame myself for believing him and overpaying for the coins but when you deal with a reputable business you expect to be told the truth. That did not happen and I now have to live with my loss. American Bullion should do a much better job in who they hire and monitor what they salespeople tell the customers. I would never do business with this dishonest and unethical company again.
