The sales manager is not professional (dont remember his name) and the sales lady we dealt with caused us to get an extra car payment pulled out of our bank account because she didnt report the fact we traded in our old vehicle for a new one. The BEST person at that place is Marisa in service. She is very kind, helpful, knowledgeable, Marisa also kept in contact like she promised and didnt avoid us like the sales manager....I would go back to the service department and work with her but thats the only reason I would go back.

Drove from Virginia to Kentucky for this ride. Service was great when we got there and even after we left. We left the dealership to charge the car up before heading back. As it was charging we went next door to use the restroom. While we were gone someone was nice enough to slice our back tire with a razor blade. Called CarMax and they had a tow truck come, paid for an Uber, put us in a hotel for the night, and put new tires all the way around the car. Then did a complete inspection to make sure nothing else happened. When we got back to Virginia they called to make sure everything was okay and that we had no other issues. Our sales rep was John and would go to him again.

Im blown away by my experience at CarMax this week. For the last 20 years Ive bought brand new cars from GM dealerships, but had been getting increasingly frustrated with the sleazy experience and lack of support from the service departments. Last week I frustratingly drove to CarMax in Louisville after an awful experience dealing with service at my Buick Dealer.Not only did they offer me more than I could have imagined for my trade in, but Boris my sales contact was incredibly patient with me as it took me 3 days to figure out what I wanted. They applied no pressure and made the whole buying experience easier than anything Ive gone through in all of my years buying cars.They have a grace period where you can make changes to your deal or return your vehicle if not satisfied. I was able to find a better interest rate for the vehicle I bought and their business center was very patient and helpful. They have taken care of everything for me. I never could have imagined such a painless experiences buying a car and making adjustments to make it feel perfect for myself.Id recommend CarMax to anyone shopping for a car. The experience is top notch. It removed so much of my anxiety in making this decision that I want to send everyone I know there to buy a car.Thank you again!

I have purchased 3 cars from here now. This experience has been by far the hardest as far as the process. We transferred a car here from another state, that car ended up not being what we wanted, had to trade it in and purchase another car. 3 things I can say; 1. the return policy is very smooth 2. Draper, the salesman, was so patient, kind, and easy to work with; we highly recommend him. 3. We did get the best price for what we were looking for with a good amount back for our trade in. This is a great location!

We went a “traditional” dealership in town because we had bought there before and thought somehow that was the best option. I knew I hated the way these dealerships sold cars, but like an idiot decided to try it again. Predictably, it was awful - lies, hidden fees, hours waiting for them to “talk to their manager”… I finally decided I had enough and walked out. SO glad I did.We found a couple of cars on Carmax.com that we liked and settled on one to have delivered to our local Carmax dealer. Katie from Carmax almost immediately called me and talked me through the car, going over details and ultimately helping me find a different car that we liked better. We arranged the delivery of that car, it cost $99 to deliver and she said it would take 7 days or less to arrive. In the meantime, she helped us ask questions about the car to the Carmax that had it and let us know what to expect of the rest of the process. That whole phone call took about an hour (most of it helping us find the exact car we wanted) with a few texts of follow up afterward.The car took less than 24 hours to ship and arrived at our local Carmax 24 hours after that. Katie kept us updated and helped us schedule a test drive and we were able to see it that evening. We had planned to test drive it overnight but once we saw it and test drove, we purchased. It was exactly as promised. They noticed it needed new tires so those were put on before we even did our test drive.The purchase process was quick and easy. We had done the financing application part on the phone call with Katie, so we knew the exact financing options we had (which stayed the same when we went to purchase) and the whole buying process in person took about 30 minutes start to finish. The longest we waited was after signing when they took the car to clean and detail (about 20 minutes) because it was a busy Friday night.Since we had the 30 day return option, we felt comfortable getting it before we took it to our mechanic. He checked it out the next morning and said it was a great car.Bottom line - I will NEVER buy from a “traditional” car dealer again. Every single interaction with Carmax was pleasant, quick and transparent. No games, no lies, no bait and switch. We knew exactly what we would pay and that never changed. The price of the car was comparable to others we saw like it elsewhere. The car we got was exactly as promised. Katie was awesome. The $99 transfer fee was reasonable to us because it meant we could purchase a car we liked and not have to drive to another state ourselves to get it.

He did not push any vehicles on me, he respected my budget. I felt comfortable buying a used car from CarMax because of their guarantees. So frustrated with Carmax. I dropped off my car on Sunday for an appointment on Monday to fix my tire pressure signal (it stayed on even though all my tires had plenty of air in them.) I called Monday after work to check on my car. I was told the part had been ordered and would arrive and be installed on Tuesday. They offered to set me up with a 5-day rental. I declined because I thought I would get my car back the next day. I call back Tuesday, say the part arrived but they didn’t know when it would be installed. I agreed to the rental, but when we got to Enterprise, all they had was a mini van. I declined because I don’t feel comfortable driving anything larger than a sedan (There’s a car shortage, I get it). Wednesday I took an Uber to work and then a coworker dropped me off at home. I call Carmax after work on Wednesday and was told it’ll be ready Thursday. It wasn’t. Then they leave me a voicemail on Thursday saying it would be done Friday. And here we are now, with Carmax saying that it’s not ready and I can come pick up my car and reschedule to another day. I’m so mad. I get that they’re probably short staffed and they also told me there was a back order on parts, so they were fixing the ones ahead of mine. But to tell me THREE DIFFERENT DAYS when my car would be ready (one guy even saying on Thursday that there was just ONE HOUR of service left on my car) is infuriating.

Everything was great. Didn’t have to wait, wasn’t there long, got the car I wanted. Only advice…I worked with a young man named Sam over the phone. He helped me find what I wanted after looking at several virtually. I would have liked being able to meet the young man, and have him help me finish the process. Unfortunately he was in Rivergate TN and I went to Louisville due to taxes. The sales person I had was great, but felt bad that Sam couldn’t help me finish.

They gave me a very fair offer to buy my Mini Countryman. It was a very easy process that I started online and quickly finished up in person after they inspected my car. Then I was able to reserve vehicles to test drive in advance. Transfers right now are a bit wonky. Both vehicles I transferred to try out never became available to test drive for one reason or another like waiting for the titles, something not shipped with it, etc. One was a free transfer and another I paid $99 for. After 3 weeks neither vehicle ever became available to test drive. However I did find a Jeep on the lot that I loved. I ended up buying it. I asked them to waive the transfer fee since the vehicle never became available and I ended up buying a different car. They agreed to refund the transfer fee with no hesitation. Theyre slammed right now, but they have great customer service and the buying process is super fast. I was very happy with my experience despite issues trying to get vehicles transferred in.

I started the process with CarMax over the phone with a very professional and helpful rep named Alex in Nevada. She helped me with financing options and helped me find the perfect car to fit my needs. She told me exactly how much I would need for a down payment and what my monthly payment would be. When I went to the local dealership for my test drive and buy appointment everything was exactly what me and Alex talked about over the phone. My salesman Zack who helped and walked me through finalizing the deal was great. The whole experience was quick and I was very thankful to not have spent my whole day at a car dealership. Best car buying experience Ive ever had. I love my 2016 Chevy Cruze 😊

I brought my truck in to sell it. I had already gotten an online appraisal. When I arrived I was pointed toward the Business Office, spoke to a woman there and waited, email said should take 30-90 minutes at 90 minutes I went back up, spoke to another woman, seems my appraisal had been done for some time, didnt know the board on the wall that showed initials only showed two ds, and apparently one was my appraisal. I was pleased with the amount offered, accepted the sale and about an hour later I was finished. I would have much preferred having my last name on the board, or an explanation in the beginning so I would have understood the process. This could be a well oiled machine if 30 seconds were taken to explain. The Business Office was extremely busy that day. Other than waiting 45 minutes longer than I should have it was a pleasant experience.

We had a great experience with CarMax-Louisville even though we ended up returning the vehicle purchased. We had transferred a Shelby GT350 and upon arrival it had some significant eyesores on the front bumper and a few other issues. The customer service manager Marisa is an all-star and facilitated several repairs to bring the car up to expectations. Unfortunately after having the car a few weeks, other issues arose that were completely out of the control of CarMax. We felt the car was probably just not for us and we were able to return it with no questions asked. This was my first interaction with CarMax and I had an amazing experience! Being a used car place, I was worried I would have to deal with high-pressure sales people. Which is why I didnt go to a dealer. Fortunately, the opposite was true! I picked what car I wanted to test-drive online, it was ready at the appointed time and the sales person was friendly and engaging. I felt no pressure whatsoever. Ive sold my used cars to CarMax before, with good experiences. This time was a little different because it took soooo long to get through it. Perhaps the combination of hiring challenges and a hot used car market affected the turnaround time, but it didnt seem particularly busy. The money for the car was a fair price. If you go, budget 2.5 hours to leave with a check.

This is my first google review, and my experience was frustrating enough that I want to list it here since CarMax keeps soliciting a review.TLDR: CarMax is inattentive to details, gave me a filthy vehicle despite telling me it would be cleaned and assuring me that cleaning was part of their inspection process, and messed up the titling multiple times.After hearing a lot of good things about CarMax, my experience did not live up to the hype. I purchased a lightly used 2021 Toyota Tacoma TRD off-road. I’ll focus this review on the two main disappointments I experienced in the process. First and foremost, the car is was not clean when I picked it up. I’m not talking fine details or a little dust under the floor mats; I mean visible dirt, a filthy exterior, windows that were grimy to the point of being difficult to see out of, dirt in the bed, very dirty engine compartment, dirt in the interior, coffee (or other liquid) spills in the cup holders, etc. I have pictures of all of these. What makes this especially frustrating is that I explicitly requested that the car be cleaned when I picked it up and was told (several times) that it would be. More specifically, I was told that it was part of the big inspection CarMax performs on every vehicle. Maybe they skipped mine, or maybe the inspection is worth a lot less than they want you to believe, but the condition of the truck at pickup (and despite my explicit ask and their assurances) was deplorable. Second, the titling process took multiple tries because I kept catching basic errors (in my name, spellings, and addresses) that forced us to restart the whole documentation process multiple times. Normally I’m pretty flexible about these things - mistakes happen. But this happened repeatedly on legal documents - titling papers - where the details matter. What became clear was that the people I was working with were in a hurry to get out the door, and that is unacceptable. Pass me to another rep or tell me to come back another day (I was there early evening, well before closing time). But being in a hurry and missing basic things that caused delay and repetitious work is unacceptable.Bottom line, CarMax didn’t provide the level of service that their reputation lead me to expect and doesn’t pay attention to the details. I won’t be back.

I purchased my car years ago, but I really have to sing Sheries praises. She has helped me tremendously in the past two days with getting my title switched over from KY to IN. The IN DMV has been less than helpful and Sherie has done everyrhing she could to help me out. I came in extremely frustrated and left relieved after having Sheries assistance. She got me what I needed and was extremely kind and patient in the process. She 100% deserves a raise. Shes awesome at her job and obviously goes over and beyond to help the customer.

I recently purchased a new suv with them for the first time & its been a so so experience. Love the convenience of ordering a car online & showing up to test drive. The salesperson I worked with was very nice, no pressure although I already knew I wanted the car. It was fairly quick until I went to sign the papers & ended up waiting for at least an hour before someone finally got to me but once we started it only took 15-20 minutes to get through everything. Its been a month, maybe a bit more & I still havent received anything regarding my registration & anytime Ive tried calling the store, no one ever answers which is very frustrating when you have a simple question.

Overall, this was a great car buying experience! I was able to find the car I wanted and have it shipped to my local carmax with no pressure to buy it after the test drive which was awesome. And speaking of no pressure, I love the no hassle pricing! The person I worked with was also terrific.. The only reason I took one star off was the amount of time it took to complete the process after I had indicated I wanted to buy the vehicle. They were busy, but I was still surprised by how long I had to wait.

This was my second car purchase experience. It was as smooth and stress free as the first. This time I took advantage of the appointment reservation to test drive an SUV.CarMax held it for me until my appointment on the same day, and because I was really interested but needed to consider my finances, they held it for me for a few days and when I came back the SUV was there waiting for me.That model was flying off the shelf and because they held it for me, I was able to buy the car I wanted and had test driven without worry of it being gone when I was ready.The paper signing was the easiest experience also.All in all, I will continue to be a returning customer!

Do not buy a car from this dealership. My experience has been a nightmare. I purchased a $3,000 warranty on a $16,000 car and have been without a vehicle for 3 days since it broke down 11 months after purchasing. I’ve had to contact 4 different services just to use the warranty and have received no help from anyone at the dealership since. Do yourself a favor and avoid this lot altogether. I know I won’t be back.

Overall or was a great experience, i did have some issues with documents everytime I would submit what was needed I would be advised I needed more, this went on for 3 weeks and was a bit frustrating. I also carried full coverage insurance for 3 weeks while the car was still on the lot. Once all of that was over and I was able to get my car those issue were worth the outcome. I love my new car.

I had an appointment at 9:30 AM Tuesday May 18th to have a dent repaired. The dent was noted when I purchased the truck 2 weeks prior. I was told that the repair would only take a couple of hours so I decided to wait. I checked on my truck at 10:30 and it was still in the lot. At 11:30 it still had not been moved. I asked the representative at the service desk what was the problem . She said they would get it in soon. I couldnt wait any longer so I asked for a loaner. I completed all if the necessary paperwork and still had to wait for someone to bring the loaner to the service department. It finally arrived at 12:30, almost an hour from when it was ordered to be brought. Now, for the worst part. I received a call today and was told my truck was ready to be picked up. I went to get it and it was not repaired. All they did was apply some spray paint on the dent. Now, I have to go back so they can send it to their body shop to be repaired. This is unacceptable. I hope someone takes this seriously. If in doubt, the service department can verify every detail .

My husband bought a 2012 GMC Denali from this lot and when purchasing the car the salesman noted that the engine was ticking. My husband brought the car back to get it fixed and the mechanic stated it had to do with the air conditioner. My husband took the car to get an oil change and the ticking in the engine started again. He took the car back up to CarMax and told them what was wrong with it and they never called him and gave him an update on the status of the car. When my husband tried to call Wendy in the service center she didn’t answer the phone, but when I called five minutes later she answered the phone. She then told me that the car would need to be serviced for a week and did not compensate my husband with a rental until his car was finished. My husband had to go back up there today to request a rental at 9am before he went to work and it is now 3:24 pm and he had to go back up there because Wendy did not call and give him the rental information. Come to find out she never reserved the rental for him and he had to get it reserved through Judy and Wendy saw him come in the office and ran to the back of the office. CarMax Service center customer service is THE WORST!! Wendy should be fired immediately! *** THIS IS AN UPDATE- AS of today 6/1/2021 my husband still does not have his car that was purchased in his possession because the ENGINE needs to be replaced! The car is still under warranty and CarMax has had the car in their possession for a week and a half now. BUYERS BEWARE! Do not purchase a car from them without doing your own inspection first! They tried to rig the car to stop the ticking from happening blaming it on the air conditioning system but it was in fact the ENGINE! There will be a lawsuit filed against them for selling a lemon car and lying!

Very disappointed in how Carmax handles the purchasing process now. Most of the cars are marked with red tags not for sale. They only allow you to test drive 2 vehicles. They gave me an acceptable offer to purchase my car. They want you to buy based on what they have on their website. The sales person became very disinterested after I state I had my own financing. This would have been my 3rd purchase from Carmax. I took my purchasing power elsewhere.

I found the car I wanted in a lot in another state. I wanted that car so much I paid for delivery. The very friendly representative in the phone was helpful in getting financing and getting the car shipped to my local store. I inquired about delivery date and possible purchase date because I would be leaving town for a couple weeks soon. I was assured it would be ready before I left. The emails about the delivery process were informative, until the car arrived at the dealership. After that all communication about the car ceased, until I finally contacted them because my deadline to purchase was a couple days away. Apparently the dealership that transferred the car didn’t send the title, and that was what they were waiting on. After explaining my situation again, they did arrange that I could go ahead and purchase the car. I ignored these issues, as nothing but little things that can happen. I was still very happy about my experience.When the car was delivered to me I noticed that it had not been detailed very well. It wasn’t dirty, but it wasn’t the type of clean you usually get purchasing a car. They even left a broken 3m hook on the dashboard. I assumed this was rushed through, and I didn’t let it bother me too much. I was still fairly satisfied overall.Then driving home the car was noticeably pulling hard to the left. If anyone has test drive this vehicle they would have noticed it. Maybe I should have, but I trusted the warranty and didn’t. In all fairness, the warranty was honored fully. I was not given any grief on getting the repairs done. However this issue should have been fixed prior to me getting the car. That car sit on their lot for several days, obviously untouched. It’s almost as if they didn’t care to sell it. At this point I was slightly agitated.When I returned from being out of town I called the service department. To their credit, they were eager to fix the car, and easy to deal with in this respect. They an appointment for 10am on that Wednesday. I arrived for my appointment about 30 minutes early, and had to wait there because the store is not near my home. The car was still showing as “arrived” in the screen at noon. We were there well over three hours. But this point I was irate. The car wasn’t fixed properly prior to delivery, and because of that I had to spend a large portion of my day at that dealership waiting on the work to be done. What I had mainly been happy about, being able to purchase the car with very little time spent at the dealership, has been ruined by this incident.So they are friendly, and they don’t give a difficult time over repairing things. However attention to detail is lacking, organization and communication are lacking, and they don’t pay close attention to the state of the vehicles they are selling. Don’t be fooled by the politeness. Ensure you are calling and following up often, they won’t. Be sure to test drive, even if you know you want the car and trust their warranty. Don’t bother with service appointments, they’ll just waste your day anyhow.That’s my experience. Overall it was okay at best. I was extremely happy at first, but they destroyed that quickly.

Sales was mediocre, no real effort to determine preferences, etc.Paid to have vehicle transferred from Virginia to Kentucky and was never updated by system when it arrived. Sales called and set up test drive for 4 days after recieved so they could have it inspected. When I was allowed to pick up and test drive, the car smelled of cigarette smoke, had excessively paint scratches and was filthy inside and out. The picture on the website did not match the car recieved. Was promised full detail through service department. Moved forward with purchase and business office was incredible and on top of their game, very impressed.Had to schedule detail of car with service and when picking up car, the inside roof was cleaned and seat tops cleaned but it was not a full detail job. Carpets dirty and seat sides by console in front were still dirty. Windows and dashboard dirty. When I talked to the service department, the woman at the desk stated it was only spot cleaned as removing the seats required a mechanic (service dept)?!? Determined to return vehicle was sent to sales manager who looked at car and wrote up a service ticket to have it detailed again and paint buffed to remove scratches. Promised if not done be to my satisfaction they would find me another vehicle. Service department did not call me to schedule appt. I had to call in to schedule and it is only available on Mondays and Tuesdays which delayed the service nearly a week. Still unsure if I will keep the vehicle.After scheduling the appointment, thebusiness office called to say the car was not inspected. There was a four day delay in the very beginning for this purpose, but they stated there is no inspection in the file so it had to be done to complete the sale. They agreed to do it while in service dept for detail. Definitely a buyer beware transaction.

I would say my experience was pretty mixed. When I first reserved a vehicle I loved they took 5 days to contact me to complete the paperwork in order to have it transferred to my local location. By the time we had finished all the paperwork required they had sold the car. To make up for that they did waive the transfer fee on the next car I found that I liked. It then, though, took nearly 3 weeks to complete that transfer and deliver it to my home. In the end I have a car I love, but it wasnt a smooth experience and its a good thing I didnt need my new car in a hurry.

Financing was fast & easy too. They offer an extended return policy if you are unhappy for any reason & an extended warranty that gave me confidence in my purchase. I recently purchased a car from Carmax and the car runs just fine, my whole reason to write this review is because they didn’t accept to purchase my trade in car because it was lease with Lexus Financial, they claimed Lexus Financial refuses to sign over the title over to them because Lexus does not want to sell their cars, well let me tell you this is totally incorrect, I drove the car 5 miles from the carmax lot and was able to trade it at Car Lotz for the same trade in price and yet Car Lotz didn’t seemed to have this issue with Lexus FInancial.

I have dealt with CarMax on three different occasions with two of the three being a terrible experience. On the first occasion my wife searched for weeks trying to find the exact car she wanted. She finally located one at CarMax in the Houston TX area. After completing everything for the purchase and being told they’d call her when the car arrived in Jackson MS she was then notified the next day that someone else had placed the car on hold and she could no longer have that car. They said that one of their managers had made a mistake but there was nothing they could do because company policy says that if someone places a hold on a vehicle shown available in the system then it’s their car to buy. Remember that part for my third experience that will come.My daughter bought a Nissan Rogue from the Memphis CarMax last month with no issues so I decided I’d give them a try again.This week I look online and find the truck I want and it’s the only one in their system. I fill out the application and I get the congratulations email that my truck will be shipped to Jackson MS etc etc... Well what do you know..I’m notified on the phone that apparently that truck wasn’t available now and they’d get back to me. I then go online and it is still showing it’s available so naturally I put a hold on it! Remembering what they had told me in my wife’s mishap with her supposed purchase at CarMax that if the vehicle shows available online and someone puts a hold on it then there’s nothing they can do due to company policy!! Well what do you know...I have the email showing the truck has been reserved just for me so all is good right? Well now company policy doesn’t seem to matter this time so there’s nothing they can do to sell me the truck. It’s funny how that company policy was so written in stone on my wife’s car purchase but now it’s not.- If you get a notification that they are holding a car for you then please don’t believe it until you actually see the vehicle at your location!!! I hope this saves someone the headaches that CarMax has caused us!!!

Great service, easy hassle free however their prices for car purchases are about 33 percent below value. So dont try and sell your car here unless you dont mind taking a massive hit on it. Or unless they are somehow giving you back 33 percent on a purchase which I doubt they do. But quick and easy.

Paid 99.00 for ship OK,, Told seven day delivery,, Took three additional would have liked truth first time I asked. Car was dirty the day I was called to see it. Car was cleaned, gassed up, very good price on trade in, know one put any of the normal car lot pressure on us that was nice . But still it took four hours to close deal
