TL;DR: Amazing customer service service, highly reasonable prices, great turnaround times, support local business!!A little over two years ago, after being quoted an unreasonable price for a rear brake job, I shopped around and went with these guys for a price I could actually afford without breaking the bank. When I got there, there was no upselling... just straight forward, what you see is what you get salesmanship.I didnt have anyone to come get me, so I settled in with my computer, and the guy behind the counter insisted on closing the blinds for me so I wouldnt get so much glare on my screen.My brake job was done in less time than they had told me to expect.Everyone was friendly, respectful, and wonderful to work with.Ive returned many times to have work done on my car, from oil changes to other routine stuff. These guys continue to just impress me every time and I cant imagine ever taking my car anywhere else! Please, please continue to support this local business during these trying times. I would be so so sad to see them go!

The staff at Dons is always patient when explaining their findings and they give us information to review before making a decision. They spend the time to thoroughly research the options that they present, and we feel that they do want whats best for both our safety and our budget.

Friendly atmosphere and very speedy with service!

Ever since I moved to the area in 2005, these guys have taken good care of my vehicle. I trust they will be honest abt the problem and give me choices when they are able. I also trust they are honest when they tell me something needs immediate attention and cant wait. Im so thankful for their skill and professionalism. I hope I never need to find a new mechanic...no one could ever live up to the service I get here! Highly recommended.

Best place Ive gone to for diagnosis and repairs. Theyre not trying to pump you for money. They seem a tiny bit more expensive, but Ive always had quality work done very fast, and worth every cent. Theyre very accommodating for time and price range. As long as I live in Wisconsin, Ill be going here.

They were able to look at my car first thing in the morning after I dropped it off the night before at the last minute. They were clear on what was needed to be done, and service was fast.

I love theses guys. They are fair, priced well, explain everything along the way with professionalism and even talked me OUT of an expensive repair I was prepared to take on. Bill explained that it was unnecessary and wouldnt effect driving or safety. I thanked him and my budget thanked him too! My husband and I only take both our cars here.

Im not a car person, so I went in with a minor issue because I didnt want to try and fix it myself and break things more. They fixed the issue in under ten minutes and didnt charge anything. They were very friendly and seem like honest people. I definitely plan to go back the next time my car needs work.

I went to a shop in Verona to get a couple exhaust leaks patched and the guy was very honest that I should take it to am exhaust place which would be cheaper. I took it to this place then, and they got mad at me for suggesting it would just be around $400 to make a couple minor repairs to my exhaust. I must have caught them on a bad day because the older gentleman was very rude. Took my car to MexMuffler and they did the job for $160. I wont ever go back to this place because of how rude they were and the cost of an exhaust repair (they were estimating $600-700 but didnt even finish the estimate when I suggested what I was expecting.) They might be good at other types of repairs. They also quoted 4-5 hours for what the actual muffler place did in 20 minutes (and they still gave a year warranty.)

Bit expensive but great service

The team at Dons are wonderful to work with. We have been using them to service our vehicles for over 10 years. They can always be counted on telling you what has to be done and what can wait and never try to upsell. Their work is always top notch! My wife and I highly recommend them.

Short story: Fantastic customer service and upfront, honest mechanics/owner. Bill (one of the owners) was very helpful, honest and upfront with me when discussing a potential repair for my car and if not for him, I would have spent hundreds of dollars on a repair that my car did not need!Long story: I was told from my dealership that my rear struts needed to be replaced so I decided to call around and get some quotes. I called 4 different repairs shops and everyone was quick to give me quotes ranging from $600 to $1500.When I called Don the Car Care Man, Bill hesitated before giving me a quote. He wanted to know the year of my car and mileage (no one else that I called cared to know/ask my mileage). Since it was a newer car and only 50,000 miles on it, he informed me that he was skeptical that my struts needed to replaced and suggested that my dealership could be lying to me about this problem in order to make money off me. This was a dealership that I had been a regular customer at for over 3 years so I found that difficult to comprehend but I was impressed that he actually CARED about my car and my money and would take the time to try to help me avoid spending a lot of money on a potential repair that I did not need.He not only offered to take a look at my rear struts FOR FREE, but he said that he could get me in the very next morning! I went there the following morning and Bill and another mechanic (Duane) lifted my car up and showed me my struts. They explained what leaking struts would look like and showed me how my struts had absolutely NOTHING wrong with them. Sure enough, my car did not need any repairs and my dealership was trying to cheat me to make some easy money.If not for Bill and his honesty and integrity, I would have paid hundreds of dollars to fix a problem that didnt exist! Bill has certainly gained my trust and I will be taking my cars to him for all future service needs. I will also recommend him and his two locations to any one that I know that needs car repairs.Having someone in the car repair business that you can trust and know has your best interests in mind is hard to come by nowadays. Ive been taking my vehicles here for 2 years and have been very happy. They may not always be the least expensive job in town, but their quality is great. I had a sensor that they replaced go bad after a few months, brought it back in, and they replaced everything for free - and fast! It was an expensive job too, and they saved me a ton of money by owning their work and taking pride in quality.

I have nothing but positive things to say about Bill and his team. I have taken 3 vehicles to Dons Car Care over the past 10 years. They have provided excellent service, fair pricing and are always fast to get my car back to me. However, its the honesty that is really difficult to find and they are top notch. Just recently I was told I needed a new alternator from another shop so I brought it in to Dons and they determined it was still good. I expected a $500 repair and walked out of there spending $35 for diagnostics. Thanks Bill for all the years of quality service.

We’ve spent quite a while looking for the best car repair center in West-Side Madison, and I think we just found it. They had the best deal in town for a hub assembly replacement on my wife’s ‘07 VW Jetta. Bill, the owner, was extremely friendly and was able to set an appointment for the next day and had everything finished in a very timely manner.You definitely get the feel that they care about you and your vehicle and don’t just want to get commission off of over-priced parts and suggestions for work that isn’t needed. We will be back (although hopefully not too soon 🤞🏼)!

We took my car there for inspection before selling it and they came up with negligible small fixes to cause the buyer not buy the car. They checked the air cabin filter by taking off the connections of the glove box and they did not put the connections back properly so that the glove box does not close fully now. The worst thing is they charged $120 plus tax for simple inspection. I do not recommend them.

I couldnt have been happier with Dons service. They were the least expensive estimate for a manifold/catalytic converter replacement and had my car repaired in a few hours. They also had great customer service.

Gone two times so far, both times they were considerably cheaper than the quotes from other places, the first time they were cheaper by nearly $200! Service is friendly even if you do have to wait a few minutes while they finish up with someone else, something I consider more than reasonable. They dont try to treat you like youre stupid. I plan on going here whenever my car needs TLC.

Been here a few times. First time I took the car in with a strange problem with lights coming on. When I got it there, the lights went out, with no codes in the computer. They told me they couldnt find anything, and just charged me 1 hour for labor. It turned out to be just a fluke. They could have hit me for a new alternator, but didnt. A bit pricey on the easy things (like $20 to rotate tires), but service was good, fast, and courteous. Each time I was able to wait with the car. They got me in right away with no appointment. Would recommend this location.

If you need your car worked on, and you want to be able to trust the people working on your car... Take it to Don The Car Man! They are the BEST!!! I wouldnt take my 2004 PT Cruiser to anyone else!!!

My family has never had an issue on any work done on our vehicles. They do not try to stick it to you. They do what needs to be done. Very nice service.

They got me in for an estimate immediately. They were also very friendly and willing to work with the fact I’d be supplying my own parts.

My sister originally called ahead and got a quote to do just the timing belt and water pump for approximately $450. She already told them the car leaks oil. When she took the car in, they charged her $85 for diagnostics, to tell her that her car is leaking oil!! We already knew that. Since the car was already there, she had them do the repairs. When we looked at the itemized receipt, they charged twice the amount for all the parts. They also charged $45 for cleaning oil off the engine!! They also charged a crapload for replacing the valve cover gasket, which is a hell of an easy job. These guys will take advantage of you and are a bunch of rip offs!! Dont ever go here.

Don the Car Care Man got my car up an running quickly without a scheduled appt! They were able to get me in first thing the same morning I called, assess the problem and replaced my alternator in less than 2 hours at a reasonable price!

Our go to for all of our car needs! Everything from routine oil changes or rotating tires to engine issues or a broken A/C. Everyone is always very friendly, knowledgeable and honest about what needs to be done.

The staff is very friendly and know their stuff. I feel that they are a bit on the pricey side, but to be fair, you get what you pay for and Ive never been unhappy with the results.
