Walked in and got friendly and professional service very quickly with Thad and the Brakes for Less team. Those guys explained the problem I was having with my brakes, showed me the wear, and ultimately I felt very confident that I was getting quality service at a good and fair price. I decided to try this Brakes For Less after noticing the great reviews since Thad was added as manager late last year. I have used their services 3 times in the last few months, and each time its been the same consistent crew. They care enough to perform repairs the right way with quality parts and fair prices. Thad is honest and reasonable. I normally leave my vehicle during repairs, but there is a McDonalds next door that would be convenient if waiting on repairs.

Had taken my road car there while on a road trip to have brakes checked. The technician took a look at it and advised me that it was just surface dist. He could have charged me to have brakes changed, but was very honest and up front.

Used this service to get my front brakes replaced. Within a year of getting them replaced, they still make a grinding noise when I come to a complete stop. My old brakes didnt even do that. I even took it it after they replaced it to ask them why its making noise and all they had to say was thats just how new brakes are. Which if it was true, every new car would make a grinding noise when coming to a complete stop. Brake quality isnt very good seeing that Im going to have to spend another $300 to get them replaced in the future. Their pricing isnt bad, just their quality and them blatantly lying to my face saying that theres nothing they can do to fix my brakes, even if theyre under their own warranty. Get your brakes from somewhere else, dont make the mistake I did.

Replaced my rear brakes and rotors within an hour and a half for $30 cheaper than Express Oil Change. Highly reccomend!

Very professional interaction and quality work. However, I specified a certain level of brake pad and they put the most expensive pad on there despite my directions. I recommend sitting on top of these guys t. make sure your instructions are followedIm not sure if this was an oversight on their part or not.

A hidden gem and they do a lot more than just brakes like their sign on Hwy 72 says.I say a hidden gem because I had 4 different engine issues that any other auto shop would have taken a day or so to repair done in just under three hours.That included changing a Serpentine Drive Belt, replacing the Coolant Overflow Container, changing the Power Steering Fluid and an Oil Change. Not to mention checking my brakes and replacing a brake light I wasnt even aware was out.While we waited, a couple of people got oil changes and a couple more had brake work done. Very professional, very nice people and considering its an automotive shop, their waiting area was very clean looking, more like a nice office verses an auto repair.Free WiFi and theres a McDonalds next door and a couple of other places to eat within walking distance if needed.We had been looking for a local mechanic for awhile and had been to them a year before for brakes.So Brakes For Less is a lot more than just brakes like their sign says and the best part for me was they were affordable. One of the things that really stood out to me was how we were kept up to date and advised of things found while the van was being worked on. There were no surprise or unexpected charges, we were asked if it was something we wanted to fix now and if not what to expect and how long we had to expect before it became a real problem.I really appreciated the honesty and am happy to find an honest company and their mechanics so close to home. I knew I had a jeep that needed a four wheel brake job with rotors. I called and left it for them to diagnose and they came to the same conclusion. I looked up the parts cost to see what I could save if I done it myself and found that the parts and labor cost they quoted was spot on. Job was done on time for the price quoted with no hidden gotchas. Definitely would recommend them and will use them in the future.

Had a lot wrong with my car because of someone who worked on it in the past. The guys here were very helpful and explained everything that was going on and didn’t do anything to my car without consulting me first. Will definitely recommend to other people.

Went in for an oil change and air conditioner. Got the oil change and had a coupon, but the guy added some chump charges to it. If the coupon is for 19.99 then that is what should be charged. To repair my air conditioner - the price quoted was greatly inflated. The price just for the parts was almost 2x more than what is quoted online and at nearby auto parts place. I said I was not getting a/c repaired there. He said if I get a lower quote he would be it. I would not come back there for business. If you have a fair price offer that price up front and you would have had business.

If you plan to use brakes for less, go to the one in Huntsville, not Madison. I got cheated out of over $400 at the Madison location!! (And I honestly believe that they purposely didn’t clean and adjust my back brakes like they claimed they did so that my front ones would wear out more quickly!!) I have taken my car to Brakes for Less in Madison twice now. Both times they seemed to be very nice, but charged me a ridiculous amount and never completely fixed my problem! The first time I took my car there, I had to have my front brake pads replaced and the back brakes cleaned and adjusted. The squealing seemed to go away at first, but only a few weeks later the squealing persisted again. I took it back and one of the guys working there told me that whoever did my brakes the first time didn’t use lube at all. He also said that my back brakes needed cleaned and adjusted. Again after just a few weeks?!! They obviously hadn’t done part of what they charged me for the first time, but they still charged me $100 to fix what should have been done on my first visit! Even after the second visit, my brakes still squealed and my car still had trouble stopping. I finally gave up and took it to another mechanic. He looked at my brakes and said there’s no possible way the back brakes were recently cleaned and adjusted. After he finished, my brakes were like new, and my front brakes no longer have to do almost all of the work now. I used to use Brakes for Less in Huntsville, and never had a problem. I highly recommended avoiding the one in Madison!

Ive been to this shop 2x. I had my power steering fluid flushed the first time (20 minutes) and a cv axle replaced the second time (2.5 hours), and in both cases they completed the task for the quoted amount in the amount of time they predicted.The manager was knowledgeable and helpful. I get the impression that this shop doesnt try to find problems and then beef up the charges.I dont know if they do more complicated surgery, but for what I need, this shop is perfect.

I been going here for years, when they was located down the street before they move in this building. They always did a good service for all 4 of my vehicles. Until today my daughter took her 2014 Hyundai Accent there for an OIL CHANGE and after they finished it they told her $71.35 for JUST AN OIL CHANGE and that car only holds about 3.4 qts. Now yall tell me does this seen right?

Went in for an oil change, brake pads, and top off of my coolant. Now I’ve been going here for 6 years and have never had an issue. These clowns tried to tell me I needed a whole new radiator and new rotors: quoted me ~$650. What they don’t know is that Once upon a time I was ASE certified and really only needed the breaks done. Be careful with the big disabled guy he isn’t trust worthy.

Very friendly staff. Very knowledgeable. Explained brakes in layman terms. Very cost effective. Only negative thing is that the brakes squeal once they get about 1000 miles on them. Im calling them to see what can be done. I will definitely use them again.

Took my car in this weekend for break work and oil change at Pep Boys in Madison. They quoted $911 for rotors tires and miscellaneous equipment. I thought this was high and some was unnecessary. I took it to Brakes for Less. They said my tires were fine and the other work only cost me $400.18. I saved over $500 by getting a second opinion and not using Pep Boys. Thank you Brakes for Less

Update: After filing a complaint with the BBB the issue was resolved to my satisfaction.Ive gone here many times in the past and havent had any issues. The last time was 01 May for a fuel pump and fuel filter change. Charged me nearly $500 after a quote of $300. Car still didnt run correctly so I thought it must be the sending unit. Ran up for a price quote, was told $600 just for the part; $1500 for the whole job. I ordered it directly from the dealership for $113. Pulled the fuel assembly to replace the sending unit and the fuel pump that Brakes For Less replaced approximately 5 weeks ago had rust on it; didnt look new at all. Had another mechanic check it out and was told that there is no way a fuel pump would look like that if it was new in just a matter of weeks. Was also warned that Brakes For Less would tell me it was my dirty fuel tank and probably give me a difficult time. I went up there, showed the guy at the desk the pump and of course as predicted it was my fault. (dirty fuel tank) But he did make it right and exchanged the pump for me. I wasnt going to pay to tow the car so I said I would put it in myself. Problem solved.......or so I thought.Finally had the opportunity to put the pump in yesterday evening. Pump was a dud, no pressure. Ran up to auto parts store and they had one in stock so I bought it, hooked it up, car started right up. No pressure issues. Called Brakes For Less this morning to see about getting my money back for the pump. The man who sits at the desk is who answered and once I said who I was and explained what happened it was show time. No way was I getting any money back. He raised his voice many times while someone in the back ground laughed at what he was saying. I explained I wasnt blaming him, but he got a bad pump from his supplier, etc but he wasnt going to do anything. He stated that I voided my warranty by putting the pump on myself. I asked why he didnt tell me that when I exchanged it? He responds with LOOK LADY, I cant read your mind, this is standard practice!! He continued to rant on and on about how this is what he gets for helping people while his buddy was laughing in the background. I simply wanted the money back for the pump that clearly now was never replaced to begin with. I just hung up. Cant have a rational discussion with someone who wants to put on a show for their buddy.There was a time when I recommended this place to anyone needing a repair. NEVER again. As another reviewer stated, these guys are crooks. Smile to your face and stick it to you.

I would give zero stars if I could. My husband sent me to get an oil change on our car. He has always taken the vehicles to be serviced but I was off so he asked me to do it. They usually charge him no more than $35.00 for an oil change but charged me triple that amount $90.25. They charged me more than the dealership charges. People go to places like this to same money not to be scammed. It is ridiculous how they want to charge women more than they do a man but I guarantee I will never bring my vehicles to them ever again and anyone I know that needs work done I will tell hem to find somewhere else to go. They are crooks do not have your vehicle serviced here.

When I thought my power steering went out my boyfriend suggested Brakes for Less . He had his vehicle serviced by there a few times and became a loyal customer because he swore that they were “honest”. I found out this was far from the truth.....I ended paying 1441.32 for a part and labor fee that shouldn’t have been more than $300-400. I found this out of course after having to take my vehicle to another dealer. Normally I would’ve shopped around but again my bf was so set on their honesty 🙄 AFTER one issue had supposedly been fixed by brakes for less my radio mysteriously went out! and some dash board lights that will not go off that were not on before they of course can’t explain to me why only after they service my car do I have these unexplained issues but of course the nerve of them to expect more money so they can fix what they broke .... Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere for good service, a good price, and most of all honesty .

Not my next choice for Brake Pad change...800 plus dollars later!!!

Tried to change the brakes on my used, new to me 06 Mazda Tribute and accidentally stripped the screws for it. Brought it into Brakes for Less, and shamefully did not let them know that I had stripped the screws, letting them know that I brought in a brake pad for the one that needed to be replaced. They obviously saw that I messed up and fixed it with no problems. They replaced the stripped screws and put on the new brake pad in less than an hour for under $100. They will be getting my future business

So my truck got towed here and I was told it would be left outside because there were things I needed to get from inside of it. Surprisingly it is no where to be found now??!! Will be taking this up with management when they open.
