Very awesome store. I went into the guitar shop Wisconsin to see what kinds of guitars they have. I was in the market for buying 2 guitars. And I was greeted by the owner Greg Ginter himself. Very nice down to earth guy.He set me up with 2 awesome guitars Ive been waiting for a long time. I would definitely recommend his store to anyone.

I loved this guitar shop! I was visiting Wisconsin for the holiday weekend and decided to pop in after reading a few reviews.First of all, the selection is incredible! So many quality amps and guitars to choose from. I was assisted by Bruce, who was very friendly and knowledgeable. I ended up making a spontaneous purchase and came home with a beautiful carvin custom shop guitar. I was also given free strings and guitar picks, which was a nice touch.I highly recommend this shop to any guitarists in the area!

Took my guitars and amps in for repair, and bought an acoustic from them and had a great experience every time! Recently the guitar I brought in to get tuned up started fret buzzing. Stopped in and talked to the guys and they said to bring it back and they took care of it! Great place for the guitar player!

What a fantastic store!!! An amazing collection of electric, acoustic, and bass guitars. Tons of vintage and collectible amps, along with pedals, rack gear, straps and accessories. Most importantly, and rare to find in music stores these days, a very knowledgeable and friendly staff with a passion for what they do. Highly recommended.

My dad gave me a used guitar on my 16th birthday, which was some 55 years ago. Although my dad is gone now, the guitar remained but I was doubtful it could be repaired. Greg assured me from the time he saw it that it indeed it could be restored, and just two days later my old guitar came to life! He worked on it personally and took the time to explain everything to me! I can not describe the fantastic job they did. Greg and his team will not only do it right, they will go above and beyond for you!Oh ya, in those 55 years no one has been able to tell me the age of the guitar. Greg knew the minute he looked at it! What an expert and class act!

Greg and his team are the best around, you will not find another place like this anywhere else in Wisconsin or beyond. Brought in my strat for some fret repair work and a setup, and was very pleased with the detailed work and quick turnaround.

I’m a novice bass player. Bruce Wasserman spent at least an hour with me, providing information about the various types and options for bass guitars and guided me to a great selection. The service tech who looked at my old bass was very helpful as well. This is my new guitar shop for all future guitar purchases. Much better experience than national chain stores.

Had a buzz on the d string taken out, beautiful setup.

I just bought an early Marshall 1970s 4x12 cabinet with 1972 greenbacks in it. It sounds unbelievably good with my 71 JMP super lead. Greg was great to talk with and extremely knowledgeable with all the old Marshall head and cabs. I will be back there again.

I was so thrilled to find Guitar Shop! Drove down from Rock Springs to check it out. The staff are awesome and so helpful. The owner, Greg, personally taught me how to re-string my guitar, having me stand at the work bench with him to watch and then do. Great teacher and went out of his way to get my guitar working better for me. Another lesson would be more fun than doing myself. Cant wait to go back and check out more of the guitars. Place has a great feel and a great selection of new and used guitars and all sorts of electronic equipment. My husband was with and wishing he could play guitar...maybe can get him to yet!

A little Guitar Heaven in an unexpected place.

I love this place! The first time I walked in I was BLOWN AWAY by all the vintage Fender (and every kind of other) amps they had!.. Seriously, there are my favorite guitar/amp shops in Chicago, Nashville, Seattle.. this is my favorite vintage gear Guitar Store in Wisconsin.And every time I’ve walked in the hospitality was like being treated as royalty. They were so kind, checking in to help me with whatever, while still giving me space to tryout some things.Big fan of these guys.

This place is great if you need the personal touch. Lots of knowledge, lots of selection, staff was more than happy offer advice and opinion.

Amazing customer service. Went in with (what i thought was) a cheap guitar and looking to buy a new one. The staff was very kind and helped me fix my guitar and showed me its true value. Im very appreciative they didnt try to rip me off like one of the large chains would. I will definitely be coming here with all future guitar needs.

I went in here on a trip from illinois. I walked in and it seemed very disorganized but I walked around a bit they have a very large selection of amps. One of the workers was helping someone with a cabinet which is no issue with me. I walked around and looked at stuff when he was done helping that customer I asked if I could try out some stuff. The worker acted like I inconvenienced him and told me go stay away from him while he was working. I spend a lot of time and money on my hobby and I wont be waisting any of it in here.

I recently moved to Madison, and place was recommended by several people. The intonation on my telecaster was a little off, and I just couldnt quite fix it myself, so I decided to bring my guitar in for a professional set-up. Am I happy I did! Not only did they do an absolutely fantastic job at a good price, they did it pretty quickly, too. On top of that, this place is guitar gear heaven. Ive never seen so many vintage Fender Twins in one place. I also hear that they do a great job servicing tube amps, so I cant recommend this shop enough.

Absolutely fantastic store and service. I was the guy waiting at the door when they opened up first thing Monday morning. Just to browse. Every clerks favorite customer, right? Then I actually saw what I was thinking of possibly buying and I asked Nick pull the Gretsch down from just about the highest spot on the wall before his day had really begun. He was happy to help. This is how youre supposed to do it, I know, but I have been in plenty of stores where they make you feel like a pest. Im not an expert and Nick and Bruce showed me how to use the tuner that was plugged in to the practice amp and offered to sort through the dozens of amps until he found the little Vox that I actually have at home so it would sound the same. I asked Bruce to play it for awhile while I fiddled with the amp settings and he couldnt have been more accommodating. They knew the history of the guitar, where it came from, why it was sold and what to expect from its particular hardware and electronics. After an hour of this pampering I went from window shopping to making an offer. When I mentioned a trip all the way home to get my cash stash, Nick knew that my bank had a branch right up the street and he saved me an hour round trip. The guitar was cleaned, lubed up a little and every switch and pot was given a quick detail. I cant say enough about how well I was taken care of. From my previous internet pricing I know that I got a great deal on a great guitar with the original HSC and some 11-year-old case candy. This is how you run a business.

I brought a vintage Epiphone amp in for repairs, and these guys did a great job getting my beloved amp input fixed. I never heard it sound so good. Special kudos to the amp repair guy. Plus theyre friendly, helpful and the place is filled with amazing gear to try out.

Working with Greg and his team was simply awesome! I brought in a used guitar to get cleaned-up, restrung and tuned. While waiting for that job to complete I decided to tune up my acoustic and being a newbie I popped a string. Called the Guitar Shop and was advised to bring it in.Greg took care of that guitar Johnie-On-The-Spot. I was also called to pick up the original guitar I brought in that same day. They did an awesome job cleaning up the used guitar I originally brought in.Looks and sounds like a new guitar less the embedded scratches that are simply never coming out, all in less than 24 hours.In my opinion the Guitar Shops service is matchless and cannot be beat.The Guitar Shop gets six out of five stars from this guy! Definitely recommend.

Ive been going to Gregs since he was on Atwood Ave. in that cramped little shop. I remember jamming with someone playing Sweet Virginia on an acoustic I was doing the fills on my Strat. I was in there today to sell a small practice amp and I was paid a fair price for it. I knew what it was worth. Greg has a sort of in your face personality and it could be off putting to some. But he does know his stuff! As does his staff. And he has always treated me with respect! Ive been pickin & grinnin since I was 16. Im 68 now! Still playing and learning. There are still some good guitar shops around. This is one of them! Give them a try!

Great guys to deal with. Purchased a vintage guitar from Greg, got it home only to discover there was an minor issue, neither of us had noticed at purchase. Called and discussed the issue with him, and he apologetic for the issue and went above and beyond to resolve the issue. He made sure that not only was I satisfied with the purchase and how the issue was resolved, but also earned himself a new repeat customer in the process. All while being a really nice guy. All around great service from everyone involved. Highly recommended.

I was very impressed by this establishment. They have a huge selection of guitars both new and reconditioned. Plus, just about every accessory you could possibly need. Based solely on how it looks from the outside you would think it would have limited inventory. But this place is huge. Walking in I really was surprised at how big it actually is. Staff was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Highly recommend!

I found Guitar Shop of Wisconsin on Google in July 2019 when I needed a setupTheir turnaround time was quick and they did an amazing job. I truly appreciated the detailed notes they provided on the invoice regarding what was done, by whom, and how long it took. They leveled my frets, lowered the action, etc. Whenever Im need of help, Guitar Shop of Wisconsin will be my go-to.

The techs, staff and owner are all a great group.Very reasonable prices for setups - done correctly.Incredible selection of players grade guitars and amps (and some collectible stuff that I ignore). Prices on gear are fair too (they are a business and do need to make a buck). Plus you can actually handle the instruments...not so on-line.I try not to visit very often because about 50% of the time I find something I need. This shop is a gem, be warned.

I LOVE THIS PLACE. The atmosphere is super old school. The staff is incredibly helpful and personable. The amount of musical inventory in that space is nothing short of amazing. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

This is my local guitar shop location-wise -- but this is the only place I trust on both amp and guitar repairs for my hard earned stuff in the Madison area. Worked/restored my Mesa-Boogie when I thought it was a goner -- I have them wire/repair all my guitars including my need for some unique wiring options - these guys have a great turnaround time and an excellent price point. I highly recommend this place.

If these people do not have any given piece of information related to guitars then you definitely do not need to know it. Walking in the door itself is walking into guitar-lovers Nirvana. The decades and lifetimes of experience in the staff just waffs in the air, like the comfortable smell of your oldest, most cherished Rock n Roll Tour shirt. If you havent, you NEED to come check this place out. Period.

I brought my family here on my sons birthday and we were all very impressed. I hadnt been here previously but wanted to check it out before going to the chain store. We ended up leaving with a like-new mini squire strat for the birthday boy and a ukelele for his little brother. We spent about an hour in the store which was fun because the employees are not on commission. They just help you out when you need it! We spent the most time with Bruce who was super knowledgeable and helpful. Years of wisdom to tap into here. We highly recommend this store!

The best collection of New & Used Guitars Ive come across in quite some time. Prices range from ridiculously affordable to high-end Shopping. That being said all the prices that I came across seemed more than fair. I also spoke with a staff member who said that their selection changes weekly. First time entering this place was overwhelming. From the humongous wall of guitars to the rows of amps, this place was guitarist heaven. The employee I met there was amazing and helpful. The only bad part of my experience was near the end with someone who I think was the manager, i believe his name was Greg. As I was checking out, the guy was giving me an attitude and being annoyed with my presences. I almost bought a guitar from this place from the nicest employee, but I was only there to buy strings and kill a little time. Overall good store, good employees, eh manager. I would go back if I was serious about buying a guitar and not being helped by Greg.

These folks have revived an amp, a guitar, and a banjo for me. Definitely one of those places where you feel welcomed by just going in. I have bought all my strings, picks, and guitar accessories from here for a long time. Whoever you speak to, they both can get you what you need and have most likely been in whatever positiin you are in. Super knowledgeable. Coming from Texas, it is very refreshing to have such a place a short drive away.

Brought my bass in after the tech at guitar center told me the reason there was no output had to do with the pre-amp and all they could do was replace the entire PCB inside (a $100+ dollar part) to try and fix it. About an hour after dropping it off here I got an email saying it was already fixed and had only needed a $2 clip connecting the battery to the rest of the electronics. Definitely recommend this place if your guitar needs any sort of work done.

If you play guitar, youll love this place! If you are looking for a used guitar, dont mess around with yucky pawn shops. All the used guitars here get new strings and professionally set up, which is like a $50 value in and of itself. TONS of selction, they have seperate rooms for electric and acoustic guitars. A huge amount of stock from beginner guitars too $$$ vintage stuff. Also loads of amps, guitar cases, strings, stands, everything you might need. When I bought my used guitar here recently, I was told if I didnt like the way it played, I could bring it back (within a few days) and switch it out for something else also. So you really cant go wrong buying a instrument here!

Greg and staff (Sales Nick, Tech Nick, Joe and of course Si3d -- silent 3) are top class guys. A lot of regulars go there to hang out, check out the new gear, hear whats going on in Madison and maybe once in a while or even accidentally buy something. I like the local Guitar Center too, they have nice people working there and always treat me well, but the Guitar shop of Wisconsin is something special.

Staff (Bruce helped us) was great, lots of inventory, vintage gear and more. Saturday an hour before close was busy and had a great vibe. EASILY recommended over the others in Madison and worth a trip if you are visiting from out of town.

Took my guitar in for service. The technicians were very helpful and quickly found the issue. They had the guitar fixed and ready to play again in less than 20 minutes.

Ive been going to Gregs for a while now. Always get a straight answer with good service. Hes got some really good cables, Made in USA from US products. Ive had one of them for years now and hasnt broke yet. Go buy one and compare it to an instrument cable u have at home. Night and day quality difference.
