We had a very stressful move due to our movers not showing up. We scrambled to get our stuff out of our house. The team at U-Haul was so great. They made our move so much less stressful. Such great people. I highly recommend them.

RENTED 26 foot truck online. It allowed us to choose location and time to pick up truck. Two days before we move we get a call from uhaul saying that if we want the truck we have to pick it up at a location 40 miles away................... why would I be able to pick a time and location to rent my truck from and receive a confirmation email when there is a chance that the truck wouldnt be available at that location. I called and voiced my frustrations and was told a supervisor would call me back, which never happened. I want a call back ASAP

We tried to buy a box of adult toys from a guy that works here it was an unsettling experience that would have worked out better if we could have actually rented the car hauler we went to rent not overly impressed but maybe we will have better luck at a different location

If I could rate a 0/5 I would. Beware of extra fees added for “damage/scratches.” First we reserved a 20 foot U-Haul truck weeks in advance and were told the night before moving they didn’t have a truck for us. They finally got us a 15 foot truck after much haggling. When we returned our truck they said it looked good and we would be charged the original fee. Two days later we received an extra charge of $300 for supposed damage - a scratch that we did not cause. Those trucks have plenty of scratches. They scammed us out of $300, saying we didn’t get insurance so too bad. Terrible outfit - untrustworthy. Employees wear no masks and smoke indoors. I would not recommend renting from here!

I reserved a 10 by 15 storage unit a month ago. Upon going to the facility today I was told no storage units were available, because U-Hauls system does not cut off reservations once none are available. The man working there said that he has worked there 3 years, and this happens every year when college students are moving. I was given a recommendation to go to a storage unit about a mile away. Upon arriving at the recommended location, we found out that it was closed.

When I need boxes for books and other interesting things my to go to is Uhaul u can get bundles of boxes for around $20 . then I do save the ones that survived the move.This time Im thinking of renting a in closed trailer for this move. Rent it for 2 days... Dont know yet . manager is very helpful.. I learned something they do have free boxes also... Cool right! I have learned over the yrs. Of collecting boxs liquor ones works good for books cant over pack... Apple boxs works for other things has handles that why I go to u haul box has handles! (Now if they supply packers be nice lol.) Cant complain with Madison ave u haul...

The owner is very nice man and he provide us with a great customer service...But his coworker didnt do a great job with installing trailers kit. I end up stopping in the highway because I figured out that my trailers left signal is signaling to right. The coworker did a quick check out and he was rude, bad communication, and he charge us $90 for his labor work. I have to call uhaul again and imagine stopping the car at highway with four kids. Totally inresponsible action!

Yesterdays (July 19) experience of driving 90 miles and renting a van to move a college students apartment furnishing into short-term storage was a not-so-funny comedy of errors. My daughter, Victoria Hansen, had made an earlier, online, reservation of a storage unit at the Uhaul facility. The plan was to go to her apartment, load the van with the items to be stored, return to Uhaul, unload into the reserved storage unit, return the rented van, and leave town. Unfortunately, there was an issue.Upon check in, we were told that an online reservation really isnt a reservation and that there was no storage unit available. The employees there told us that Uhauls online reservation system simply promises everybody a unit whether there are any available or not. Making a reservation is really just taking a number in an unknowably long line of people hoping to be near enough to the front of the line to one of the lucky ones. Consequently they (the employees) regularly have to tell customers who turn up with reservations that there are no units available and they are just out of luck. One of the employees told me that this has been going on for the three years he has worked there and that Uhaul simply ignores the problem - and the customer inconvenience it causes. Thats not acceptable!As a solution, we were referred to different storage company, Storage Lounge, several miles away. My daughter made an online reservation there - for twice the cost of the reserved Uhaul unit. When we arrived and found our way to our unit, it had a company lock on it that needed to be removed. Unfortunately, it being Sunday, the office was closed, which meant we couldnt get into that unit and were still stuck with a van full of goods and nowhere to go with it. Then, in the first bit of good luck, a Storage Lounge employee turned up to assist a customer who had made special arrangements to meet her there to accommodate his schedule constrictions. Because - and only because - we happened to overlap that off-hours meeting and were able to catch her eye, we were able to access our Storage Lounge unit after all. So Uhauls solution to their own failure that Sunday was TO SEND US TO A RIVAL FACILITY ON A DAY WE WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO ACCESS IT!!! Only our serendipitous meeting of the Storage Lounge employee altered that outcome. The other Uhaul customers with fictitious reservations would not have been so lucky. Had we not gotten into the second unit, I would have returned to Uhaul and insisted on storing our goods in the loaded van until Uhaul found a suitable place to store it.As do many businesses these days, Uhaul encourages its customers to do business online. That being the case, Uhaul needs to do better. Nothing on the website suggests that a reservation is not really a reservation but rather more like a lottery ticket bought in the hope of being one of the lucky winners whose number is drawn. The Storage Lounge website manages to remove reserved units from its listing of available units, surely not a daunting task for a rental giants computer software to tackle. Its inexcusable that Uhaul has not sorted out this failing and continues to regularly inconvenience its customers.

This place is good for you to get what you need but it is not a great place. We waited for quite a while in line because for some reason there was one staff member during the weekend of the moving season. The guy was nice enough but didnt check to see if the lights worked on the trailer and didnt hook the chains up correctly. This could be seen as convenient and time efficient, but is ultimately not good for safety and legal reasons. The prices are pretty good, unless you plan on taking one of their vehicles. The setup of the inside of the building is not great, making you want to get your boxes/rent your trailer and get out.

Its professional and good prices for storage and equipment. Jerome and all his emp do their best to provide quality services to the customers even when customer are nasty and rude. They are a quality location that installs Hitches and wiring and has many different promotions like a free month of storage with any truck or trailer rental.

Ive used Uhaul three times (one time each year) at this location. The first time I got a truck and a storage unit. When I got there, they said they had no units available. We had to move out that day, so there wasnt an option to not have a place to put the stuff. If my dad didnt demand they find one, it wouldnt have happened. Now, today, I get a call two days before I pick up the truck that there are no trucks available at all in the location for the day I was supposed to pick up. I understand how busy college moving season can be. I get it. But any respectable business should have available something that is reserved or compensate greatly because of it. My options were: drive 45 minutes out to Fairmont (they should have to do and not me) or have someone bring it down from Brooklyn Park. The customer service in this regard is unreal. Two of the three times Ive rented they dont have available what they said initially they would. Its unacceptable and frankly terrible business practice. I wouldnt recommend this location to anyone!

My wife and I visited today because we needed a pickup to move some furniture we had purchased. little did we know that the beds of the pickups are left exposed and the truck we received was full of snow. I understand we live in Minnesota and it snows but to give a customer a truck full of snow and expect us to shovel it out ourselves was ridiculous.

One of the worst experiences of my life. I came into get my storage unit on Wednesday, there was 1 one employee working at the entire facility who was incredibly rude, she belittled the young couple before then made a smart comment making me feel stupid while assisting me. I waited for over an hour and was late to my job so she could help 2 customers before me. The next day I came in got my hauling truck, brought my load over to the storage unit and the elevators don’t work, so we try hitting the call button, nothing. Call the service number on the door, number doesn’t work. We call U-Haul customer service and they reply with “we will send a text to the manager hopefully he gets back to us.” It is 109 degrees out, I had 5 either full size or queen mattresses, 2 dressers with me. I went into the store to talk to Jerome, the owner, he has 5 people waiting and he is the only one in the entire facility. Very upset by the situation I asked him, the owner, where all his employees are on the biggest moving weekend in a college town. He started yelling at me across his store of paying customers, I just walked out embarrassed for his unprofessionalism in his own store. he followed me out into the parking lot continuing to yell where he met my boyfriend. He handed his phone to my boyfriend with his General Manager, Jodi, on the line. Jodi picked up the phone before even greeting with a hello, also immediately started yelling at my boyfriend over the phone telling him not to yell at Jerome and hung up on him without hearing the situation or coming up with any sort of solution. My boyfriend and I carried up all 5 beds and 1 dresser up 2 flights of stairs and had to leave our 2nd one because we physically could not carry it up the stairs. Jerome “tried to fix the elevator” by pushing the button on the bottom floor and the button on the second floor then said unfortunately he didn’t know what was wrong and walked back to the store.Jodi did call us back and apologize for both herself and Jerome but we felt it was beyond the point of apology. I was so embarrassed and disappointed to be spending my $150 on such a horrible experience.

I was there, as an extra driver, for my friend yesterday. When she called and reserved the truck she specifically asked what do I need (several times) and was told $165. & a valid drivers license. When she got there she was told because she was paying with cash she would have to have $100 deposit put on a credit card. Apparently there needs to be a staff meeting informing all staff who answer the phones that they need to clarify if the person is paying with cash or card as to inform them of this. This is not cool to be misinformed about, especially when youre on a tight budget and / or dont have a card. On the positive side they had some really good supplies in their showroom for moving and I even found a bike rack.

The entire staff was great with the exception of the GM (I think his name was Eric). He had absolutely no customer service skills and when I came to him with the problem that the alarm would go off every time I opened my unit (even though I had checked-in), he would tell me that it was my fault, saying that I was not properly checking in. Even when he could verify that I was checking in correctly, he did nothing to resolve the problem.Also, he had an attitude with me when (after I had moved most things out of my unit, after roughly 2 1/2 weeks) I decided to keep my unit for the full month that I paid for, saying that a lot of people are moving in this weekend and he needs the units. How is that my problem? I paid for a unit to rent for a full month, so dont be surprised if I keep it for that full month.Honestly, I would have given them 4 stars if it wasnt for the poor experience I had because of the manager.

Absolutely the worst customer service I have experienced. Both times I have been in this location there have been at least 7 people in line. My last wait was 38 minutes just to get to the counter. We made a reservation which was confirmed weeks in advance, and the employee responsible for the counter lied to a family member about the confirmed time on the day of pick up. Not only was the truck not there, we were told the people who had it didnt have to bring it back. What kind of business is this? When you commit to a customer and 7 people are waiting to help someone move, you have a responsibility to make it happen. Shameful.

Staff was immensely helpful. They did everything they could to assist us with a equipment rental; however it was clear management does not do their part in training their staff with equipment installation nor proper equipment maintenance that led to an extreme inconvenience to us on a cross country move. Would not recommend to others until management is changed.

U Haul IS THE WORST!!! We had a 8 am reservation on a Sunday that was confirmed by the GM. An employee named Barb refused to let us pick up our ubox. She was the most rude, uncooperative, nasty person to deal with. We called costumer service and they said they would call Barb and have her talk to us. She refused to even acknowledge us as people until we knocked on the window next to her because her phone was more important to her then helping her costumer. When she finally did talk to us she was very disrespectful and unprofessional and told us go ahead and take it but youll be reported for theft. I would not reccomend working with this person or this company. After the store finally opened we got to the counter and I simply asked why were we not able to pick up at 8am. Immediately I was verbally attacked by Cody and Grant. They were laughing in my face was I was seriously just trying to understand what happened. Then Barb chimes in and I was being yelled at by 3 people who refused to listen to anything I said and just yelled at me. I have never been treated worse!!

Customer service sucked. Overpriced boxes, decided to return, not even out of the original binding strap they come in. Misplaced receipt at time of taking back (about a week after original purchase). So they gave us store credit, for less than we paid. Found the receipt the next day. Called to see about going through with a cash refund. Of course not, that would be too much of an inconvenience for them. Instead we have the option to use the store credit voucher for up to two years to purchase any of their other overpriced products. Lovely way to treat someone that helped them recover a stolen Uhaul truck.

Messed up reservations but they upgraded me for free that was awesome. Went to pick up trailer only 1 person in store felt bad for her it was busy. The guy took like 20 mins to show up to attach trailer, than got a part out of store put it on my truck without asking or telling me I had to pay for it. I didnt have extra money, than he had attitude with me about it, pushed my money back at me and said Ill pay for it. You really need to ask people permission before doing something that will cost them more money. I had prepaid my trailer and everything before pick up knowing I was not getting paid until the next day so the extra expense added to my stress. He also told me I didnt pay for it and needed to still after me telling him I paid in full when I reserved it, he told me a few more times I hadnt leaving me felling as he was calling me a lier. It also took an hour to get out of there leaving me only 1.5 hours to move out of my apartment. I do appreciate the upgraded trailer and that he paid for the thing he added to my car and 2 of the employees I worked with were great. I think they need more staff and some need customer service training.

I gave this location 1 Star because the person I worked with was unsafe. He thought it was alright to stand between the trailer and the truck as I was backing up. I know from pulling trailers for a long time that this is unsafe. What if someones foot slips off the break? His life could have ended. He was also very rude. I thanked him for hooking the trailer, and he didnt even respond. The other issue we had is when we went to pick the trailer up they did not have it. We had to wait to get it, were told by the Uhaul employee that when a re trailer is reserved it is not a guarantee they have it. I mean why allow something to be reserved in the first place if you do not have it? I gave used Uhaul for a long time, but after this instance instead of dealing with that store in Mankato I will go to Penske

Barb at the front is HORRIBLE! We were told to come and pick up a trailer at 8 and she claimed we are not allowed to until 9. I stated that I know how to hook up a trailer and can do it for them. She said sure go ahead with a bad attitude. Then several minutes later after I’m ready to hook it up she yelled out the door “ oh and if you do take it I’m reporting you for stealing our uhaul!! She needs to realize she is at an establishment and should cater to the customers, not just sit on her phone and ignore us just cause she has a bad attitude!! Never using uhaul again. Rather go rent a rusty trailer from the boondocks for 3 times the price.

I reserved a storage unit from them 3 months before I needed it and when I got there on the day I had one reserved, they told me they filled them all up. I took a weekend and drove two and a half hours to move my stuff out of my house only to find out my reservation didnt mean anything. They didnt even notify me at all before the day I had it reserved. Some customer service they have there.

If I could give less than one star I would, the manager of Mankato Uhaul had his minions start calling more than 24 hours before the contract had the truck due, after harrassing me, I turned the truck in ( under milage, and 2 1/2 hours early) I should have owed nothing, they charged my mother-in-laws credit card for almost 300$ without authorization, been trying to get the matter resolved for 2 days now, Mankato Uhaul and corporate Uhaul keep avoiding my calls, if I hear nothing today, tomorrow morning I will go to the BBB, and a lawyer for breach of contract.

I have never been so irritated in my life and I have never been given a reason to be rude to someone on the phone until today. I finally got ahold of someone today after two weeks of trying and he was the most RUDE representative Ive EVER dealt with! It reflected extremely poorly upon the uhaul in Mankato on Madison. I had to extend my storage unit by three days because I was put on active duty orders for the military and I had to pay for another entire month. I will not go to this uhaul for any of my needs anymore. Worst experience ever!
