I learned with this visit that I could have nearly any book available anywhere within the Half Price Books system, shipped like one would send an interoffice envelope (anyone else remember those). Looking forward to seeing the quality of fulfilling my order. So glad to be done with Amazon.

Half Price Books is a great store. Its not just used books, they also have comics, movies, music, and games.The store is easy to get to, and has plenty of parking space.The store was very clean and well kept, you can tell the appearance of the store is something that thought is being put into.The staff was friendly and helpful when I interacted with them, while also not being bothersome while I was wondering around aimlessly as I often do.Very good experience, strongly recommend.

This place is horrible I took my daughter in here to sell her gently used books that well over 800.00 paid out and they wanted to give us 80.00 for 3 book sets I couldnt believe it and the guy just acted like this was ok the selection of stuff that they have is amazing dvd vhs music CDs game systems books records you name it but as far as selling them your stuff I wouldnt suggest it

As for book stores with a couple of CDs and other things slipped discs you cant beat it they got other stuff too like board games and all that stuff they probably even got dungeons and dragons dice for you if you need those too figure how many reps youre going to do let alone how many setswe got the books on everything that the internet forgot to tell you about

Nice used book store. BUT half-priced books pay almost nothing for the books you bring in. we brought in books to sell and for about 50 books we got $10. while we could have turned it down, it wasnt worth it to us to sell on ebay.

The only store I know where you could have a collectible item worth a couple hundred or certifed autographed item or a even a game system and get maybe 20 dollars as they sell it for maybe 50 dollars cheaper from market value. DIS.GUST.ING

This store is super organized, bright, and clean. Signs everywhere related to social distancing and wearing masks, and not just nice employees, but customers were also nice. A culture of respect and learning was felt.

Clean store, nice people, however the prices they offer for new books you want to sell is literally pennies on the dollar. I had a ton of education homeschool book I ended up not needing and they offered only a few bucks for each one. I would rather give them to someone in need or donate at that rate. Especially if they are pricing them at near 100% retail

I enjoy shopping here. They have a great selection of books, DVDs, games, and other things. Their staff are friendly. However, I brought in several next-to-new, beautiful books and only received pennies on the dollar. So I won’t be selling my books and games to HPB anymore. Also, they charge a shipping fee on each item and you can’t do free ship to store if you buy on the website. So, just four stars from me.

I get stuck in this place for hours. Why would I go anywhere else, online or brick and mortar, when I can get hardcover first edition and first printing books at a fraction of the price. Sometimes I can even find a signed book. Sometimes books are covered with mylar. I think they have it nicely organized as well. If you go to the back by the bathrooms you can find a section of books that are even better deals. I like that I can see the condition of the books before purchasing them. I just wish there was a store closer to me. But I can wait until Im in the area again. If you are a bookaholic this is the place for you.

This is the largest half Priced Books in the general area. The worker helped me find books, and their website was able to help me navigate which books were available in the store. The location is really tidy and they have nicely organized each section by the authors last name. I really appreciate this location and the wonderful service I received.

Used to love half Price books... Until I was confronted while wearing a face shield. Told that all customers MUST wear a cloth face mask. I politely declined. She pushed several more times. So I left. Btw, multiple recently published large studies have proven that covid is NOT transmitted by asymptomatic people....Wake up people.

Just arrived after checking the website to be sure they were open. Of course when I arrived they were actually closed. Product is great, service here or maybe just management, blows. 3rd terrible experience in 6 months. Guess Im the slow learner. Dont shop here unless you medicate first.

Was in the store today and was impressed with how the staff had handled the COVID changes required. I was further impressed when a lady was refusing to wear her mask correctly and the staff handled it in a very professional way which kept from escalating the situation.

Used to love this place. Ive been a long-time customer, especially of the Maplewood store - I remember shopping at the old location on the other side of the mall even. They are starting to charge way too much for some of the things they carry. They should probably just change the name from half-price books to retail priced collectibles. They give pennies on the dollar for things you bring in and mark up the price way beyond half price of the original cost of the item now. People that used to work there were always friendly and awesome... now kind of just blegh. Maybe Ill try again in a couple years if the store is still around.

My Happy Happy Happy place! Love half price books. Went to Barnes and Noble, found book I wanted, too expensive for me there, crossed the street, found the same brand new book for $5 less. There selection is unbeatable and so are there prices. Trade in your old books, they give you a fair price. Then turn around and buy yourself a couple of new to you books. Love the smell of old books, this is one amazing store, I could spend hours in.

I was just run out of Half Price books in Maplewood because they are more concerned with the mask being worn over your nose than they were their PAYING customers. I left my basket of items and walked right out and I wont be back.

Pretty good selection, but some of the prices on used books are the same as what you can get at bigger retailers for new books. It doesnt quite live up to the name, sometimes.

A pleasant way to spend some time with a friend after being treated to a belated birthday dinner (was in middle of self-imposed quarantine on my birthday). A lot of variety of books, stationary, gifts, dvds, cds, vinyls, etc to feast your eyes on. The cashier was friendly as well as efficient.

Always a good shop. I find something good on the clearance shelf nearly every time I go. Nice big fantasy/SciFi section. Staff is always friendly. Parking is easy. Good location relative to the mall and local coffee shops.

In my case, it was definitely not worth bringing in my selection of good, desirable, used books for the small amount of money they gave me. Ill be donating books to charity from now on.

I always seem to be able to find something at Half Price Books. They stand in the balance between places like Barnes & Noble which have the classics, but they rarely surprise, and smaller bookstores which have often bizarrely random selections. Half Price is sure to have what youre looking for and something to surprise you! Additionally, nice quality books at prices well below the competition is a great recipe for a wonderful bookstore chain. I highly recommend a visit!

My favorite book store

Whenever I need books, I come here. Every year I get book credit from my grandma and I stock up for the month. Its a great feeling going in to a book store and coming out with 5 book! I would highly recomend this place to anybody looking to sit down with a cup of hot chocolate with a novel!

What is not to love; what can be better than books and lots of them? They have so many interesting books, plus music, movies, etc. It is a fun place to go and I always find something that I want. They carry a lot of things for kids too.

Great little store with wonderful deals and courteous staff. Highly recommend stopping here before going to Barnes & Noble across the street, otherwise you might be kicking yourself for missing a deal.

Love coming here! Being as its by a large mall the stock changes every week. The store is big and the clearance section nice. I love the summer reading program they do every year.

Mostly rude employees who think that working is a waste of their time. There is a lady here who is eager to help you find what you are looking for!
