Charged my account before I picked up my book, also never notified me that my book was ready, manager was extremely rude when I called to resolve the issue and would in no way tried to understand or help just repeatedly told me to come get your book and didnt acknowledge any problem with the system. I have scoured my email and there is no record of what the system supposedly sent out. That in itself is fine, computers fail, but the rudeness and innability to listen is not. Textbooks are overpriced to begin with.
Mostly just a corporatized college swag shop with a textbook shop in the back.
Great stuff and friendly staff!
Lots of items, from books to souvenirs. Quite pricey, buy great stuff.
A very nice college book store
Great selection of clothing. Seems to be changing fairly often. Textbook prices are also good. And they price match.
I love my sweatshirt and book!
Not impressed in service. At the check out i mentioned a sign in the store about a coupon and the employee didnt help. The employee didnt know about the sign. The employee just stood there. I left the counter, walked back to a clothes rack and read the sign with the coupon. I then walked back to the counter and got the coupon applied. The employee said cool.Yeah, cool. Thanks for the help.
This is where they were giving out the covid 19 vaccines.
Stopped in the store on September 30th while visiting the school for my daughter. I bought several iitems of clothing for gifts, all were quality made and the prices were very competitive. The staff was absolutely wondeful they were helpful with all of my questions and were extremely polite. As far as the books, the store definately focused more on retail sales of gear and swag then a wide range of books themselves. So I would suggest using the web for book purchases. I dont know about the transition of sales or how long ago it happened so I cant comment on that but I feel if you are looking for clothes and gear you cant go wrong by using the store. Thanks to everyone that was at the store on Wednesday, it was a pleasure meeting all of you and helping me with questions about your thoughts of Northern Michigan University!!GO WILDCATS!
Really nice place. No NMU face covers for sale but alot of nice apparel. On par with any Big 10 university.
Great place to visit
Not open on the weekend :(
Great selection of NMU merchandise. A little higher priced but worth the quality.
Great place.
When it comes to bookstores at NMU, this definitely is one. If there were more options, it would surely come dead last on my recommendations list, but hey, what are you going to do?Its not all bad though. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. Oh, thats all Ive got. So at least when your wallet is being bled dry, youll have a smile on your face.
Only good reason to go here is if you have to.
Where fools are separated from their money
Not a big variety of shirts but still an awesome store!
Albeit the most convenient place to get your class books, Id highly recommend using Amazon or any other online retailer. Compared to the prices at this bookstore, youll probably save 50-80% overall. It does have a decent selection of college apparel to choose from, if a bit pricey. Overall suffers from the pricetags
Do not make this bookstore your first choice for books. they often have lower prices on barnes and nobles own website. let alone just shop anywhere else for a better price. if you do have to shop there for a specific book good luck as they frequently do not order enough and fail to give you an estimate on when they will be in stock next. the customer service is also lacking the only thing this store has going for it is the apparel.
Ridiculous prices
Clean store with lots to offer, but if youre a student please look somewhere else for books!
Its a college book store?!
Do NOT trust Google hours. Go to their website. Actually Google should not even post their hours because they are so wrong.
The store have almost no other books than text books.
Since going to Barnes and Noble their already outrageous prices are now impossible for college kids. Two classes cost me over $700 for USED books.
Everything, including books
A great meeting place and book store in Marquette Mi
All of your NMU needs.
An utter travesty. Doesnt deserve to be called a bookstore.
Im going to be blatantly honest here, the NMU bookstore wasnt great before the Barnes and Noble buy out, and it certainly hasnt gotten better. I have visited them three times this semester, and have been less than impressed every time. I preordered all of my textbooks four weeks before classes started, and when classes began, I was still waiting on 3 of my 6 books to arrive. Amazon could have had them to me within two days, for a lower cost. Well call that strike one.My second encounter occurred after I decided to drop a class. I dropped within the measly week that Barnes and Noble gives you for a full refund, so I figured it would be pretty simple to just return them for my $50. I was surprised to discover that I needed both a drop notice, and a purchase receipt in order to return my books. Since I dropped the class without the assistance of a faculty member, I wasnt issued a drop notice. I did have a copy of my digital receipt, but my original was 400 miles away back at home. Turns out, they cant take the digital copy, for some stupid reason. Ended up just giving my books back and forfeiting $50, thanks Barnes and Noble. Strike two.Strike three was just this past week. Since my life is slowly filling up with obligations and due dates, I decided to buy a nice NMU branded planner. In years past, the old bookstore had some high quality planners printed out and bound, that also had important academic dates and events, a really nice ensemble to have. That being said, it would have been really nice to have, if the bookstore bothered to keep them in stock. The one employee I was able to find who was willing to help me said that they were sold out (on week two), and that they were expecting a new stock in about 3 weeks. 3 WEEKS. In that time, my life would spiral completely out of my control, so that wouldnt work. I asked if they had any others, hoping for an even compromise. No dice. This bookstore, a self proclaimed supply center for student success, cant stock a single goddamn plannar. Alright. I can, however, buy a cheap pair of Skullcandy headphones. Thanks, Barnes and Noble. That was strike three. So, in summary, the bookstore has failed me three times, in only two weeks. I couldnt get my textbooks on time, which put me behind in classes. I couldnt return my textbooks for money, because of some completely foolhardy rules. I couldnt pick up a single plannar to try to get my life in order. The icing on the cake is the perpetually annoyed attitude of every staff member I encountered. I understand that its a stressful time of the year, but can you please treat me like Im not some Neanderthal when Im asking you to pick up or return my textbooks, or when Im asking you about your stock. Thatd be great, but I doubt its going to happen.Overall, dont bother wasting your time at this place. If you need a T-shirt or some other gimmicky NMU branded thing, I suppose its fine. Anything else though, Barnes and Noble has run into the ground like a lame horse. Take your business online, or to a more local place, not owned by a corporate giant.
Online collection for is awful. Very sad excuse for a College Bookstore
Youd be better off ordering from Amazon. Poor quality, ridiculous prices.
Small scam shop filled with over priced books like most universities in the nation.
This bookstore is one of the worst rated in the country XD. Look it up on Google. It deletes my review if I link it.
The summer hours for the bookstore are wrong! Theyre open 7:30-4:00.
Tried to pick up Blues Festival tickets-because Blues Fest said NMU...Either way-the lady at bookstore was SUPER RUDE..
The bookstore really screws you over on textbook prices and then hardly ever buys them back. Shop online people
Employees are very helpful.
Stupid expensive price for used and rental textbooks
It replaced the old bookstore and is even more stupid expensive.
Expensive
Bad return policies.
