A wonderful, charming independent book store, which are sadly rarer and rarer these days. Weve visited twice on visits to the Marquette area and could spend days browsing the shelves. Great selection of both new and used books and friendly staff, what more could you ask for?

Snowbound Books is a required stop of any true bibliophile. As an avid reader and library employee, I am always happily surprised to find interesting titles displayed here that I hadn’t seen before. I leave with at least a couple books and and some book paraphernalia for good measure. If you’re lucky you might be able to snag an autographed copy of a book here too. I only wish they were closer to my home, so I could visit more!

Yes, a real bookstore! The selection is very good and well curated. There are tags on the shelves with comments and recommendations from the staff on specific titles. There are many locally-inspired titles which is fun. Stop by, you wont be sorry.

Cute little bookshop that goes on and on. I really like how they have used and new books. Why not? Used books still have value. Its the thrill of the search! That makes me really love the shop. Very helpful! Cute little building, adorably compartmentalised. This bookshop is right off the main drag. Very walkable area with lots of cute shops in the vicinity. If youre in the area and youre a bookworm, you will be in love! Cookbooks are my favorite genre to look at! Im still one of the ones that likes to buy the paper book. Loved the bookends here and great little local suggestions!

An adorable bookstore with it’s a wide variety of new and used books on many topics. Their biggest downfall, like most bookstores, was found when I asked about any books related to birth, pregnancy, or breastfeeding. I was directed to a small shelf of 15 or so books in their parenting section, none were about birth or pregnancy. It seems hard to believe that almost half the population will give birth at some point in their lives and there are little to no books available for them. If I could make a recommendation for books to stock: Ina May Gaskin, Tina Cassidy, Jennifer Block, and Jennifer Grayson are excellent authors. I found several other books I was looking for and love this place!! The staff are very helpful as well

I live abroad right now and recently participated in a virtual Christmas book exchange with friends who are back in the States. I purchased the books through Snowbound Books for the family we were assigned. They did an incredible job, start-to-finish. I easily ordered the books online and received a confirmation email shortly after. Then I received a personal email from Dana at the shop asking if I’d like her to gift wrap them before delivery, which was so thoughtful!! She kept me updated on the status of the delivery to ensure they reached their destination before the virtual party. Dana went above and beyond and I wholeheartedly recommend Snowbound Books! I was vacationing in the upper peninsula, and stopped in Marquette. We went to this book store and instantly loved it. It was very cozy, the staff were friendly, and there was a wide selection of books that were fairly priced. Would definitely visit again. Great local, small owned business!

Delightful and compelling curated books, inspiring me pick up titles I never normally would, cheery, friendly staff in the most charming setting. We browsed for a good 45 minutes and I left with a wishlist! I appreciated their staff recommendations very much. This is a can’t miss stop in Marquette!

Everything you want a local book store to be! A must stop in the UP. My wife and I loved all the handwritten staff picks throughout the store. They have a great website too, I plan to buy books online from them.

Love locally owned bookstores and this one is easily one of the best. Stopped on the drive back to lower Michigan and was super impressed by the variety. Bought two books at a good price, always excited to support local. Will always stop by on my annual trips up north.

This is absolutely the best bookstore in the UP! It has a cozy, content atmosphere, and very social and pleasant customers. Theres a marvelous collection of great books, with so much variety.You can get the perfect gift (even if its for yourself) or a great, beautiful card.s Its my favorite place in town, and even during COVID-19, they have been so flexible, responsible, and entirely helpful, from finding fitting books, being safe, and dropping books on your front step, to keeping cheer and spirits high with funny and lively emailed newsletters. Everyone is so kind, and everytime I go (quite often, its just too hard to resist) theres someone that would love to talk books. No review would give Snowbound justice. Its just a perfect place to read, talk, and browse! Nothing could ever be better!

I always spend at least triple the amount of time I plan on while browsing here. Its a captivating space, and their selection is great! Staff is particularly lovely. My go-to place for childrens books, too. So often when I go searching for childrens books I find so many that are bad and just painfully lame to read (which makes me so eager and thankful to find the good ones) - and these guys always nail it!

Adorable shop set in a beautiful city. We stopped in with a little less than hour to shop and were instantly pulled in to the beauty of the shop. Before we knew it the store was closing and we lamented that we had by come sooner. An amazingly cultivated selection of new and used books mixed in together, making a fun adventure for any avid book hunter.

If you enjoy reading or browsing book stores, this is where you go. End of story (ah, book puns). Snowbound is superior. They have an excellent selection and the service is exceptional. We were not only helped willingly by more than just one employee, but were given awesome information and suggestions without it feeling pushy at all.Prices were apt to any other locally owned shop, but the organization of the place could be different. They have both new and used titles and I think they were together throughout (no specific used section that I could find). However, that is me just TRYING to find something wrong with the place.Go. Wonder AND wander around. Itd be a great spot for a souvenir as they did have a Marquette section, but also for gifts for family back home. You wont be disappointed.

They had floor to ceiling bookshelves in every room! Its such a fun and eclectic mix of covers, and they have good deals on used books. Id love for my house to look like this someday.

This place is so cool! The person working was so sweet and helpful. Not to mention the books are awesome, I was looking for a book that had been out for less than 30 days and they had it! For a small bookstore thats unbeatable. 100% Ill stop here every time I can when Im in Marquette.

Really enjoyed canvassing this local downtown bookstore. Books floor-to-ceiling with narrow hallways and a kind of nostalgia 60s and 70s libraries. Always enjoy coming here to pick up my next read, as Im an avid bookworm. Could not be in a better location, right downtown steps away from the theater and several local eateries. Snowbound books comes with my highest recommendation.

One of my favorite parts of small-business bookstores is seeing how they cater to their communities. Snowbound Books manged to convey the emotional tone that I have long associated with Northern Michigan, despite being removed for a number of years now. I enjoyed their selection of books about local history and natural sciences, as well as the wide array of used books- even text books! I will say, though, my favorite thing was their selection of greeting cards. I took home more than one, and I will rue the day I actually give them out!

I missed my chance to hit this shop last year when I was in town, so I didnt make the same mistake. This is a delightful bookstore to stop at. Ive lamented the loss of many locally owned bookstores and this one brings to mind all those Ive missed.There is a wide selection of books that include both mainstream shelf titles as well as some hidden gems. Used and new are mixed together, which was a bit confusing at first, but its a testament to the quality of used books that it was difficult to pick them out. Used has the price penciled in the initial pages; new books have a sticker on the back.While I didnt get them, the stand out for me was the selection of Neil Gaiman books I dont normally see on the shelf in stores like Barnes & Noble. In addition, I was able to get a copy of Margaret Atwoods MaddAddam in an edition matching my set. Short of going to Amazon, getting that edition has proved tough.Most used books run $6-10 depending on quality, rarity, and style (trade paperback vs. hardcover). There is a rack of $3 used books outside the shop as well. Any fan of bookstores of yesteryear or reading in general should make a stop to this store. Maybe not in the winter as its on a very steep hill and that must be tricky to navigate when icy.
