Mr Fred was so nice! The tire guy had gone home. Thought I just needed a plug but had a nail in the sidewall of my tire.My Son & I were on the highway from Chicago back to MS & had to stop.Fred took care of us!!!!!Had to buy a new tire tho, but he was fast & efficient.We werent off of the highway for long!! I appreciate it, especially since we were away from home. Really nice man.

Had an appointment at 8am for oil change. Walked out at 9:24 with no service. They couldn’t get the drain plug off my filter and said if they strip the plug they’d have to order and possibly leave my car over night… for an oil change. Would of been nice to not have an hour and a half of time wasted. It was a problem that could have been advised of when the problem arised. Shouldn’t of had to wait so long. I went to James and Herr in Steger instead. They had no problems and were cheaper.

Our experience was unsettling. We purchased an entire set of tires for our truck and after they were installed we preceded to take a business trip. The truck started to shake because the balancing was off and not enough air in the tires. We are now 700+ miles away and trying to get our tires balanced so we can get home. Very disappointed with the service, mechanical knowledge, and professionalism of Brandon when I called to complain about our problem. We will not use this Pep Boys again. Please get some experience Mechanics!

I ordered tires online, which were shown in stock. Arrived and was told they were not there. They also told me they would not be getting them in. I was directed to customer service to try and fulfill my order. They were not helpful either and only told me I could cancel the order. I went to a competitor

I would like to personally say the staff has been upgraded, Ive been going to this location for many years and I know this location almost closed permanently and the customer service is much better these days. I recently had work done and to be honest I wasnt happy with how the car drove, but when I contacted Brandon, he was very receptive to correcting the issue and now the car drives great and it was a simple fix. Its just nice to know they stand by their work.

Really great staff working here. They showed me the issues, talked through the problems, how to resolve them and the costs. They did their best to help me with getting my car working and cutting cost when possible. Seeing interactions with other customers its clear that they care about people and want to help and make things right. This is a really great shop and helped get me back on the road quickly.

I ended up have an emergency with my tires. I drove to pepboys without an appointment and Brandon was able to squeeze me in. He helped me save some money and got me out quickly. I was so happy i decided to get an oil change too. He helped me out with a coupon for that as well. I can most definitely see myself coming here again. Im a happy customer!

I purchased a used refurbished Honda Civic. Runs great but when the a headlight went out I thought it was a simple fix. AutoZone couldnt replace it...even my local Honda dealership couldnt replace it. I then called Brandon at Pep Boys in Matteson. They explained that someone had put an aftermarket bulb in the car and rewired it. Brandon and his staff wouldnt let me leave without fixing it. They were determined! They had to remove the entire front bumper and track the original wires. Yes, they put a lot of labor into fixing this problem. I thought my bill was going to be up the roof in labor charges...but to my surprise Brandon simply charged me the original price to replace a headlight. I am simply overjoyed that a body shop had such great customer service, determination and reasonably price. This will be my need auto repair shop.

If I could give them 0 stars I would went there purchased 4 tires for close to 800 dollars. Was told they were unable to reset TPM system due to the machine being broken. To bring it back in a week to reset it should have a new machine. Ended up back there in 10 days due to right rear tire being flat so tire was replaced no charge after waiting 3.5 hours. Still no TPM machine to reset my system. Not to mention since purchase of the tires TPM system has not been working properly and not reading Right rear tire. Noticed yesterday Right Rear tire rim cap is missing. Not replaced after last tire was replaced. Received call from manager who was rude stating nothing can be done about rim cap they don’t see it laying around I should’ve check my rims before leaving. Really? Also took vehicle to the dealer to reset TPM was told right rear tire sensor is broken and needs replacement of course the cost is $$$. Hum? Is TPM machine really broken or they didn’t want to take responsibility for my now broken sensor. Not going there ever again. This was my second time purchasing tires from them and the last. Deuces!

Ive been here 3 times for tires and it was a mistake every time. They do not replace valve stems which is included in the price, and they have started leaking every time after having new tires put on. Ive asked for them to make sure theyre changed when I brought in wheels with 10 year old tires and they still werent. On my most recent vehicle, I had a tire leaking from the valve stem, so I changed the valve stem core, and it also has a bead leak because they did not clean the bead before mounting the tire. This was common practice every time we changed tires at all the shops Ive worked at. This is the poorest quality work Ive ever seen. Its worth the extra $30 to get tires somewhere else and save yourself time in the future when you start having to add air to your tires every few days, and pay $30 for a flat fix

When I woke up to a flat tire I panicked... I had to be at work by 3pm ... I called to have my vehicle towed to this location and was told it would take 2-3 hours to complete ... I explained to Brandon I am a essential worker and had to be at work by 3pm and needed my car sooner .. He was very understanding and accommodated my request and my car was ready within one hour ... Chris was also helpful with my purchase because in my haste I left my Pep Boys card at home and he figured out how to charge it to my account without my card ... Went for an oil change weds. Immediately after oil change service oil light came on. 4 days later check engine light came on. Called store and corporate office they said come back in. Reluctantly I went back but I went to autozone first to make sure Pep boys wouldn t lie and say it wasn t the oil change that was causing the new problems with my car. The manager said we can reset the codes but your oil seems fine. I had to add oil to my car right after the oil change. That was Monday by Friday both lights are back on and my car is backfiring. I should have gone to my normal mechanic because this oil change may have cost me my car. Also the manager did say the codes had nothing to do with the oil change but a real mechanic says that it was the oil change.Today is Thanksgiving and now my Brake light is coming on and my brakes are depressing to the ground. I just had brakes and rotors repaired a month ago all the way around my vehicle. So the damage to my vehicle aftrr having the oil change performed at pep boys in matteson is continuing to reveal itself daily.

My brother has been in 3 times for tire service because they don’t know what they’re doing just want to hurry up and get the job done while still being slow. An automated response of a woman saying Please hold.. does not ensure confidence in your customer service. In fact, it downright pisses people off when you dont bother answering with a live person in the first 30 seconds. Remember.. youre not the only parts store. Nor are you the only service station. Ill give my money to the people who are willing to help by first.. taking my call.

Today I went to get an 5000 synthetic oil change and they had me do all the test. I heard them say my driver side light bulb was out. They didnt tell me and didnt put air in the tires like most oil places do. I wont be going back to that location.

Unprofessional!!! I had to call corporate on this location because they had my car sitting knowing it wasn’t nothing they can do to it because the warranty provider had closed and they needed approval first. I called and asked about an update with my car (2 hours) and the employee said we haven’t even gotten to it and we will call you when we do. I realized the warranty place was about to close so why not be upfront and tell me that. This place is the worse! I saw an employee speed off with someone’s truck going to the service area through the back (definitely not treating vehicles with love and care) Never again!

Called Matteson pep boys ordered a part - part was confirmed by staff = ordered - wasted several days waiting for part - called to make sure part was in before I made the trip out - again staff confirmed it was- each and every time they asked detailed information about the part - I get there and the part they ordered looks like its for a truck (BIGGER than my car) - staff walking around wasting more time, No one knew anything, guy who ordered part was not there (that person SHOULD NOT BE ORDERING PARTS!!!)... No part and I get to waste more of my mechanics time who has already waited several days. Was also quoted $38.99 for the part now the new guy in store says it will be over $88 . >:(So not cool !!Last time I shop there !

Price was much different than my initial quote. I spent about 45 minutes trying to work that out. My car was parked around the building with a sheet of snow, so I had to walk to it instead of it being brought around to me. I get in the car and my gear shift area is unassembled. Wires were exposed and the nonchalant attitude was very unprofessional and disappointing. Never will I ever spend another hard earned dime at this location or company for that matter. My vehicle should have been in better shape than when I dropped it off not worse.

Honestly I like to shop inside the store. They have good INSIDE store service. On the other hand, the service on cars are terrible. I took my car there for a diagnostic test. I told them I had a oil pressure problem. Car has been there for almost a week and when they call me all they say is theres are oil compression problem and will take more money to diagnose. WHAT WAS I PAYING FOR THEN. A waste of almost $100. I all ready knew this. Stay away from service! :(

I dont usually write review but had to after what occured with my vehicle. My a.c. was blowing hot air. Had not used it since last summer. Made Appointment for a.c. check. Received a call about an hour later saying I needed a slew of things along with condenser and evaporator expansion valve to a hefty cost of $1,200 for a.c. repairs alone. I usually dont go for second opinions but never needed any huge work on any vehicle i owned. Told then dont do anything, im coming for my vehicle. Took it for second opinion at another shop. Was told that pep boys put 150lbs of dye and refrigerant in my vehicle when only 45lbs of refrigerant should have been added and very little dye to look for leaks. Was told nothing was wrong with my condenser or evaporator valve which was a huge upcharge even if there was. They flushed all that yucky green dye and cleaned everything that was effected by what was done.saw the dye flush myself. Put in refrigerant- which was all that was needed..... and my a.c. has been running fine with no issues since. Extremely disgusted by my experience and will NEVER trust them with my car again!

Dropped my van off at 9:30am to have four new tires put on and to have the rear brakes checked out. I left my information and went home being told that I would receive a call when it was ready. So 1:30pm rolls around and I still havent heard anything. I call to check on the status of my van only to find out that its been done, they just wrote my number down wrong so they couldnt call me. Fine, I get up there to pick up my vehicle and they tell me the rear brakes need to be replaced and they could do it really quickly if I want to go through with it. So opt for the service, pay ahead of time, make sure they have the right number, and ask about how long it should take. The woman that rung me up said probably about 40 minutes or so this was 2:10pm according to my receipt. Great, so I sick around in the immediate area shopping around while I wait. My wife leaves me here to go pick our kids up from school and I continue to wait. An hour and a half goes by and I STILL havent received a phone call saying Im good to go. So walk inside and ask if its done yet. The man behind the counter tells me itll be another 15 minutes. Mind you, I work midnights, so at this point Im losing sleep waiting on something that was supposed to take 40 minutes. I finally get my vehicle and go home to try and rest before work. Now if that wasnt bad enough yesterday Im driving around and notice that my van now drifts to the left while going down the highway. Considering all the obscene amount of money and time I spent at Pepboys the day before this is just unacceptable. I got charged for an alignment so either they just didnt do it or they did a terrible job. So here I am now the next morning back at the Matteson Pepboys right when they open at 7:30am explaining that I would really appreciate if they could fix my alignment before I leave for my trip TODAY, and they tell me they wont be able to look at it until later because they have appointments scheduled. The service here was just awful, I wont recommend this location to anyone. I will get the alignment on my van fixed one way or another, but I wont be back again after they fix their mistake.

Never a reliable time frame for any repairs. Constantly over charge. Dropped my car off at 7:30am for repairs, 6pm they werent finished. Never bothered to call and let me know of issues that came up during the repair or to tell me my car wasnt going to be ready. Had to call multiple times to get any updates at all. Will not be going back for even an oil change.

Customer service at this Pep Boys was horrible! I had two encounters where t hey were very curt and rude. The manager was disrespectful, and acted like she was going through menopause and taking it out on the customer. The other encounter was that the gentleman assisting me in the store didnt acknowledge me when he finally approached the counter, ignored me for minutes until I cleared my throat to ask for assistance, and then looked at me like I was the scum of the earth before telling me he couldnt help me and to go find someone else to assist me. I dont know if he was busy or wasnt on duties, or just didnt want to bother. Theres no excuse. That was bad customer service skills. How rude! I have never experienced any service like this! I took my service elsewhere to another Pep Boys.

Worst experience ever . Had an 8am appointment. I told tech I had to be at work at 10. At 845 my car still hadnt been touched. When I asked I was told its like having a drs appointment and just because you have an appointment doesnt mean anything. They said when they did get to my car it would still take another 45 minutes so I had no choice but to leave. What a waist of time. If I knew ahead of time I would never have gone there. Theyre the classic roll in for a simple fix (tire), get a phone call saying your XYZ is on the verge of breaking, you need an immediate fix. Its only going to cost $800! Yeah. Ok. Brought it to a mechanic I trust; car was just fine. 6 months later, its still fine. Dont bother coming here for anything unless you want to be in fear of needing a brand new car. Total scam. Oh, and to replace a LIGHT BULB; $80. My mechanic replaced it for $10. Dont say I didnt warn you.

Left my car there yesterday because they called me @5:45 saying my car was ready and I wouldn’t make it by 6:00pm (which is the time they close) online and on the door says they open at 7:30AM got there @8:17Am and no one was there.
