We went here a couple months ago and it was okay. We decided to try them again on Friday, Oct. 22, 2021. Oh boy! Waited longer than we should have to be seated, but the waitress took our drink order right away. When she returned with our drinks, she took our food order. We waited 45 minutes until we finally got up and left. We told them on our way out that we were leaving because we just waited 45 minutes for our food. We left a couple bucks for my husbands soda. The waitress that didnt take our order offered to put our order in, but we had to be somewhere. The waitress that waited on us was standing right there and said absolutely nothing to us. Needless to say we wont be going back.

Friendly, quick service. Stopped while passing through Meriden. Have been here over the years. My daughter enjoyed her meal and after trying my egg sandwich, wanted to start having those from now on. Id say thats a win!
Service was slow but to be expected when eating an hour before closing. However, my boyfriend and I both got penne ala vodka since, that is our go to pasta dish. This was our first time here and decided to give it a try. When the pasta came out it was not even warm. The pasta was white and barely had any red sauce to give the pasta a warm pink/ orange color. When trying the pasta the refrigerator taste was overwhelming with the coldness of the pasta. It was uneatable. I ordered toast as my side instead of the salad or soup option with the entree. The toast had butter that also tasted like the refrigerator and made a long lasting impression that I am disgusted by. I am never coming back. Along, with my boyfriend and friend. Please find somewhere else to go if you want warm and not refrigerated tasting food.
Best french onion soup since seafarer in the 80s. It was fantastic!!!Had a tuna grinder. Super fresh bread, got full on 1/2 ! It was full.Definitely my new go to take out ❤
Ive never eaten here and I never will!! Got the menu in the mail today. Way overpriced!! $2.75 for toast??? You better bring me a whole loaf of toast!! Brian need how to write! Id be embarrassed to call myself the owner of this joint!!
A complete ripoff. Charged us $4 more per item because it was gluten free even though we ordered fromm the gluten menu.
Not worth the price. Everything tastes frozen. High priced, low quality, mediocre service. Went well after lunch hours, only two other tables seated but waited 20 minutes for frozen potato skin appetizer. I will say the portions are quite large but the quality negates this fact. Id be willing to pay the $11 for the 7 mozzarella stick appetizer if they hadnt tasted microwaved. Overall, the atmosphere was pleasant, the inside is large enough for big groups and there is outdoor seating available but this will most likely be my one and only visit.
Delivery was fast free the driver was friendly and the food was fresh and hot if your looking for good food and great service you have found it my wife and I love the green olive diner and you will too ❤❤

The service is good, the food is ok, but it needs a little care, not too clean, the bathroom needs a lot of cleaning, and service, it was not even paper toilet. 3 starts on food and service.
I went to the restaurant for Mother’s Day. The four meals for the adults came out at the same time, but it took at least 15 minutes for the 3 kids meals to come out. We ended up just telling the waitress to cancel the 3 kids meals because the adults were finished eating before they ever came out! The waitresses still charged for the kids drinks, and should not have charged us given the inconvenience.
Way over priced I got a egg and cheese with turkey bacon on a English muffin and it was $10. !!!!! That’s insane any other diner is charging almost half that price. Never again

The food is not of the highest quality but is typical for your average diner. The service staff are very friendly, plus the owner will go above and beyond to satisfy his customers. The prices of this restaurant are a bit on the higher end and the atmosphere is a bit dark. The location is extremely easy to find with ample parking. Also it is over all well maintained and kept clean.

I’ve been coming here for breakfast for the past few weeks, the food is good, never had an issue with my order. I see people complaining that they wait long for their food but they’re not the only customers in the diner and the waitresses work very hard to help and assist every customer there so I don’t mind and understand. Overall I’ve had good experiences, great placeTo hang out an have breakfast.
My family and I have been coming to the Green Olive Diner for close to 10 years now and we have never been disappointed with any of our meals. Especially now with everything going on. Always friendly servers, always gets our orders rights and you get a lot of food for the price. The owner greets us on numerous occasions and asks how life is going.Very personable. First time going. We went for breakfast. Our waitress Lisa was great! She was attentive and efficient. I heard her talking to multiple customers and she was also engaging to parents and kids. The food was good and arrived in a super fast time I was shocked.

The service was super nice but I ordered fish and chips and it tasted like pure rubber, it smelled so absolutely horrendous that I was ready to throw up every time I smelled my hands. Tell your chefs to change the oil and maybe some culinary school would help too, also not to mention your chef was an absolute a**hole learn how to work with people.
Great gluten free food for someone with celiac and very friendly service
My wife and I arrived at the diner at 10:15 AM. The menu board at the front counter offered one of the two breakfast specials as biscuits and gravy. We both ordered this along with coffee and juice. We walked out at 11:05. Had not been served, and was told when we got To the counter that they had No biscuits and gravy, which was their special for the day, and that the cook had to run to the store. On top of all of that they still charged us for the drinks. Horrible service. It was our first time visiting and I can easily say I will never go back. This is the first time I’ve decided something like this without even tasting the food.

This was my first and last time. My waitress name was Cloe. I have never had such a unprofessional waitress, I had to listen to her whole life story. All she did was complain about she has to work two jobs, and people dont tip what they should and she has to pay taxes on what people dont tip her. She needs money is all she kept saying. I DIDNT GO OUT TO EAT TO LISTEN TO HER PROBLEMS for AN HOUR. I SHOULDNT FEEL OBLIGATED TO LEAVE A TIP.Every one has problems, I dont care to hear about hers.The food was really good. She is ruining this restaurant. Good Luck
We like diners in general. Had never been there before. Stopped on a Sunday. Ordered Early Bird specials. Food was good, price reasonable and service great. If were ever in the neighborhood we will surely stop again.

Excellent food and Service. My son has Celiac and they have extensive Gluten Free options, which is a live saver for me. I go out of my way to stop by there whenever I have a chance. This place is especially good for people who are looking for Gluten Free options. I recommend the Gluten Free Chicken Fingers and the Mozzarella Sticks. They do have good soups and salads as well.

Great variety for Gluten Free options. Morning staff is incredibly friendly. Later than 1, staff isnt friendly and dont want to be here. Food is typically warm when it comes out. Havent had a meal messed up. Gluten free dough is made and not frozen.
Our second time in this Diner. First for breakfast, this time for dinner. Service was excellent as last time. But the food was not the best in both of the visits. This time my wife and me asked for a Panini each and It was half of the portion from other places we have been, lack of flavor and more expensive. Breakfast or dinner, not the best experience. Will definitely not recommend it to a friend.
First time there today for Christmas dinner. So happy it was not very crowded. The waitress was a sweetheart and the food was Amazing. I highly recommend this place. If you ever go you should definitely try the Rice Pudding it was to die for.

Had an excellent gluten free pizza from there will definitely go back I took it to go so I have no idea what it is like to eat there but the pizza was very good.They make their own pizza dough not the frozen garbage that you get from other pizza places
Slow service, the servers keep going into the bathroom to talk on their phones and you don’t hear them washing their hands or the air dryer machine going off!We sat next to the bathroom and if a customer went in to use the bathroom you can hear the air dryer going off! Why not when a server?!Employees need to wash their hands before leaving the bathroom! Our server also appeared to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol along with her other co-workers. Some guy walked in to pick up food and then singed at one of the servers and she came to the side door by the bathroom all fidgety!There were only about 15 customers in here at 12pm and the service was turtle slow.The servers are too chatty and are not focused on customer care. They all need to be retrain on customer service and proper hygiene DPH will pay this place a visit soon!Poor employee hygiene will bring this establishment down.

I found actual bugs eating old food left on the floor under my table. I saw the bugs after waiting about 10 minutes to get my water, nevermind my order. The place is dirty dont eat there!P.S. The staff is rude, I have never paid to eat at a place like this dump!

Good food but service left a lot to be desired. We had to repeat the order and credit card number several times.
Long story short, there was a mixup with a calzone my wife and I ordered a while back. After a frustrating phone call and and experience, the owner personally delivered a replacement calzone and offered his apology. He could have written us off, as we originally had done after our experience, but he went out of his way to make things right. Thanks Brian, were looking forward to your calzones in the future!

DO NOT GO HERE! I WILL NEVER RETURN!I went for lunch here on Saturday with my mom, I have been there only about 3-4 times but I found their food to be good even though they are over priced. Our waitress was very nice and my heart goes out to her, she was mistreated by the Owner and this is not ok at all. Now to talk about my experience which I still cant believe happened. I ordered the Baked Stuffed Sole with Mashed Potatoes and Zucchini(BTW, the zucchini is in a strange salsa tomato sauce, horrible). When I go the dish I tasted the potatoes and they had no flavor and were grainy, like the potatoes werent fully cooked before they were mashed. Then the Sole itself had no flavor and was very small, there was way to much stuffing and the stuffing was not fully cooked. The consistency of the stuffing was like raw ground meat. Stuffing is supposed to first, be fully cooked, not sticky and mushy. Keep in mind I took two bits of the mashed potatoes, and I only ate the outside of one stuffed sole ( the dish came with two) and I couldnt even eat the stuffing. I also only had one piece of the zucchini to try it and that made me feel sick it really tasted horrible. I felt bad that the food was not to my liking but I wasnt going to say anything and just let it be but my mom spoke up for me and let the waitress know my experience and that I wasnt satisfied with my meal. She took and back and asked me if I wanted anything else. Since I really didnt eat I did want a meal so I just ordered a bacon burger with fries. After taking the Sole back and putting in my order for the burger the waitress came back and informed me that she spoke with the owner and that he would not remove the sole from my receipt and that if I didnt like the meal I shouldnt have waited until the end to say something about it. I told her to let him know I will not be paying $18.95 plus tax for a meal I did not eat and that I ordered something else that I would eat and pay for. She went back and got my Burger and placed it on the table and said that the only thing he would do it make me pay half of the Stuffed Sole meal plus the $9 plus burger, I was fed up at this point and said if thats the case I do not want the burger since he said I need to tell him Im not happy with a meal at the very beginning and I hadnt even touched the plate the burger was on.She took it and I told her to please get the owner so we can speak with him. She went to the back and came back an d said that The owner is not here the owner made the waitress come back to our table and tell us that hes not here what kind of person doesnt come out to speak with there customers, especially unsatisfied customers. She also came back with the burger in a to-go box and said I couldnt return it. So because I didnt want to cause a seen I payed $15 for the sole and $9 for the burger plus my moms meal. I was so angry and I would have very much appreciated the bare minimum of the owner to show his face and stand by what he had the nerve to charge me but just know I am letting EVERYONE I KNOW NOT TO GO HERE! HORRIBLE HORRIBLE NASTY SHAMEFUL PLACE!
There are a wide variety of foods to choose from. The food is made to order and the portions are large. Most of the dishes Ive tried are pretty good. One nice touch is that the owner often comes out of the kitchen to interact with customers. You can tell he takes pride in his restaurant.
Seafood combo was over fried. So Dry... The breading was so dark. For as much as they cost 4 arent enough Mozzarella sticks.

Good selection of diner food. You can get breakfast all day. They also have dinners and pizza. This place is great for people who have Celiacs or gluten sensitivity. They make gluten free pizza including the crust and you can get gluten free fried foods. Their gluten free fried mozzarella is exceptionally good.

A balding short fellow with absolutely no personality took the order, I’m assuming he’s the owner. Gave him my debit card, he hands me a receipt and I noticed he overcharged me. I ask him why the overcharge, at 1st he claims its taxes, upon further questioning and after calculating the taxes I again ask him why he overcharged me for, this time he claims it’s for utensils (he put 1 spoon in bag). I ask him to show me a sign that says customer will be charged for utensils., he stumbles his words couldn’t do that. Avoid this place folks there’s a reason the parking lot is always a ghost town, serves him right, he’s obviously not pulling any revs/profits from this dump..on top of that chowder was horrible, watery, no clams found nothing but potatoes...

This place is a treasure for all who enter its door. Often it is difficult for my husband and myself to find a mutually satisfying place to eat as I am gluten intolerant and he is a vegetarian. This diner on Broad St in Meriden can make a gluten free option on any part of the menu and they have delicious vegetarian options as well. Both of us found their food to be freshly prepared and of a quality I have never found in another diner. Their menu is extensive andthey make a gf mozzarella stick that was the best I have ever tasted and my gluten eating husband agrees. We look forward to sharing our find with friends.
This is where I asked my boyfriend out 2 years ago. We were caught in a rainstorm and the staff couldnt have been kinder to us as we walked in, soaked to the bone. Delicious food, awesome staff, good prices
Waitress was pleasant enough, but without a memory......sometimes you just need to write it down, especially when youre the only waitress on the floor. 2 of us & each of us missing an item from our dinner order & no return from anyone to check. The plates were messy looking with carrot bits & parsley sprinkled apparently before the food was placed so surprised to get bits of raw carrot in the mashed potatoes. Food okay, but not above average. Think they need to call Service Master to clean (womens) restroom.

The staff really could care less, from the hostess throwing our menus on the table and giving us a dirty look to the waitresses not knowing who had our table. There was only 6 full tables and 3 waitresses not hard to figure out. We would still be there if I hadnt said something. The food is a whole another problem. If you like your French toast soggy and warm ice coffee then this is place to go. Forget sending it back because theres no improvement. 3 strikes this place is out!
Service is always very quick and friendly. There are TONS of gluten-free options (a gluten-free alternative for almost everything on the menu) and they are actually great tasting too! Would definitely recommend to those with and without gluten intolerances. They even remembered that I needed to be gluten-free after only going there 2 times before!
If i could give negative stars i would. absolutely disgusted with the service my coworker and I just received from the Green Olive Diner. We placed our order via phone call and was told it would be 15 minutes. well, 30 minutes later I called to see where our food was and the lady replied with All of our deliveries take at least 30 minutes and the lady who took your order is standing next to me and she said 45 minutes.. I informed her that both my coworker and I heard her say it was only going to be 15 minutes... the food finally got delivered nearly an hour later and made the experience that much worse. I got a short stack of pancakes where they were sour, the butter was liquid and they did not provide silverware. My coworker ordered a cheeseburger club and the club was soggy, french fries were dry and they did not include the side of ketchup like we had asked for. When i had called to complain, the women that answered was laughing with other staff. We also explained they over charged us and they provided excuse after excuse. The owner called me shortly after and was just as bad as his staff. Rude and arrogant. I was trying to give him our feedback and he continued to interrupt and make up other excuses. He refused to make this right by offering better food or a refund. After an exchange of choice words, he than hung up on me. I called back shortly after just to be yelled at by another staff member there. Needless to say, they have lost our business.
Food and service were both great. Atmosphere mellow. Enjoyed our dining experience.

Had a wonderful meal with large portions and carefully prepared unique dishes. The menu is breakfast, lunch and dinner all day long. The staff treating you like family.
Overall good experience. Food was cooked to order and staff were very friendly. Some of us did not like our food but that was just because we didnt like our selections. As a whole everything tasted good its just the dish we chose wasnt what we would normally order.
My favorite place for breakfast, I will always ask for things a certain way and as always happy to accommodate my food needs. Dinners are awesome as well.
My stars are based in my visit on a Sunday noon time. It was busy, which is usually a good thing but it wasnt very efficient. I think waiters were overloaded with tables so it took a while for us to sit, then gets drinks, then order and then receive our food. I think hiring more staff would be helpful.

Just had last meal from this place...my burger was still raw, pink, and cold inside. My wife got a gluten free burger and it came on 2 pieces of rye toast and we got gluten free mozzerall sticks and those werent burnt to a crisp....waste of $35. When the menu is 15 pages long I would reccomend going else where for food
The waitress Elissa was wonderful, sweet, friendly and tried to be attentive, but restaurant was very busy and not enough staff. Food was great, good servings, and tasted wonderful. We will return.
As others have stated, good food - unorganized staff. 2 of 3 orders were incorrect, but what they received was tasty. I was there for a quick biz lunch. Not again.
Used to be good have tried them twice in recent months both times were disappointing. Tried to give them the benefit of the doubt but wont be back.
