My experience with this dealer was the best! I worked with dealerships most of my adult life and I can definitely say this is a good one. The salesman I spoke to about my car was very nice and informative. However, the finance manager I spoke to made me feel very rushed and I didnt appreciate that. I understand you have other customers to get to but as a customer myself thats not my problem. Everything else was great 👍🏻 thanks Toyota of Merrillville!

I had they most flawless experience at Toyota of Merrillville. John is one of the best and down to earth salesman that I have ever met. I didnt think that I would be driving a brand new 2021 Toyota Highlander today but I am. This is one of the best dealer ships that I have ever been to. The entire transaction was great. Toyota car service is the best EVER! Life savers. Bryan Dypkowski took my car immediately with leaking pump. I never had such a pleasant experience (much better than Audi), on time, and great pricing! I felt that someone really cares without overpricing and overselling. Seems like everyone there is doing a top notch job. It is a very clean facility, friendly service, great atmosphere from everyone, and car cleaning is impeccable. I drove my car out in better shape than I bought, like problem never existed. Drove out like a million bucks - with a wind - each time! They have a customer for life.

We highly recommend John McDonald who is a salesperson at the dealership. My husband tried different Toyota dealerships to find the new SUV that he wanted and no one had one in stock, could find one for him or order one for him. After stopping at the dealership in Merrillville, we talked to John and he was able to find the 4Runner we wanted that was coming in from overseas factory. He kept us informed where our car was in the ordering process and when it finally arrived at the dealership. We would talk to John again if we need to get another Toyota

From start to finish the experience was over the top the best I have ever had when purchasing a vehicle. I looked at 5 or 6 other dealers for my vehicle, being a long time client of Toyota. From the first phone call with MITCH his professionalism was so impressive. He made me feel as if my business was extremely important, not only to him, but to the dealership. He was transparent, honest, and communicated in a timely manner, answering all of my questions and giving me clarity on what I was purchasing. When it came time to delivering of the vehicle, of which I traveled from Chicago to pick up my car, it felt like it was more than just a business transaction. He treated me as if I was a long time friend, and it was truly an enjoyable experience. Being that I am an individual with high standards when it comes to customer service as I am in the financial industry; you could tell that it was important to him to not just close a sale, but to build a relationship for life. Living in Idaho, I had very limited options for the specific make and model of used car I was wanting so I did a nationwide search. I found one in great shape for a good price at Toyota of Merrillville so I contacted them right away. I first spoke with Edna, who was very helpful with the initial questions I had. Soon after I was put in contact with Amelia, who took it from there. She did an amazing job helping me feel comfortable about buying the vehicle sight unseen. She took it to another dealership for me so I could get an independent inspection (at my expense, as is reasonable). She put me in touch with Ron in finance (another great interaction, giving info but without pressure). She then waited patiently for a shipping broker to find a shipper (not so easy during this Covid time and shipping across the country). She took pictures before the car was loaded, even working through the issues of the shipping app. Throughout, she was very helpful, kind, understanding, prompt, and knowledgeable. Highly recommend the whole team at Toyota of Merrillville, but especially Amelia! Thanks again!!

Purchased a 2018 Tundra, and had a really good experience.I identified the truck as one of my top 3 options within about 100 miles from home. After driving two others, I went to Merrillville, and test drove the truck I eventually purchased.The truck was very nicely detailed, so appeared almost brand new. The sales rep M.J., was low pressure, and answered all of my questions. The finance manager, Ron, was high energy, and offered all of the up-sell items, but in the end did not pressure me to buy.Driving my 5 star review is the experience I had with the sales manager, Alan. After owning the truck for about 2 weeks, I had a concern. I brought it to Alans attention, and since I bought a 3 year old truck, wasnt sure what to expect. Alan and the team stepped up, and resolved the concern to my satisfaction. Its now a month since I bought my truck, and Im feeling very good about my buying experience.

Last year in July I purchased a Toyota Camry. I paid cash for the vehicle which I later learned wasn’t ideal from a customer service perspective. There was something going on with the paint of the car. I assumed it could be buffed out. Only after I inked the deal, I found out that the paint issue was “bugs from Florida” imbedded in the paint and there was nothing they could do about it. I felt that was a little misleading but whatever. Shortly after I got the vehicle home, the hydraulic system to keep the hood up failed. Overall poor sales experience and I genuinely suspect is because I wouldn’t finance with them.The service department guys are great! I just don’t know if I would purchase a vehicle from them in the future.

Disappointed! I brought my wife’s car in for an intermittent sun roof issue on the last day of its extended warranty. I purchased both the car and warranty at this dealer. The service department had the car for a day and a half and couldn’t reproduce the issue, so they said there was nothing they could do. I said I understood and picked up the car however within 2 hours my wife was able to reproduce the issue (in reality my wife was able to reproduce the issue when she took the car to the grocery store after getting it back). Upon learning of the issue reappearing, I called the service department (within a couple of hours after picking up the car) and said the issue had reappeared and the sunroof was stuck open. They said the car was no longer under warranty so I would have to pay for the repair. This is the issue I brought my car in for and they couldn’t reproduce the issue in 1.5 days but my wife reproduced it in 15 minutes. When I called the dealer / service department back to discuss the issue the service advisor said he would call me back, but I never heard from him, nor did I hear back from the Service Manager when I left him a voicemail. At the very least give me a call back to discuss my options. Both my wife and I are disappointed that we are unable to use the sunroof in our car for fear it may not close. I expected more from Toyota of Merrillville but was disappointed.Within a couple of hours of posting my review, the dealer reached out to me and we are working on a solution to this problem.Update 6/9/21: The issue has been fully resolved. Brian in the service department was very responsive and kept me in the loop as far as what was going on. Thank you for resolving the issue! Bumping up to 5 stars.

Originally took our Highlander in for a engine oil leak. I knew the warranty was almost up so I went over the vehicle bumper to bumper to find any other issues. None found. After the repair I looked it over to find a huge transmission fluid leak that covered the entire chassis, missing/loose engine mounting bolts. We picked it up again and noticed a rattling sound so BACK under the vehicle I went. I found missing parts, loose parts, and even dirty greasy hand prints on the hood. Brought it back for them to completely remove the part making the noise and telling us its fixed. Good thing I crawled back under to see what they did... Yea, they just left the part off so it would stop rattling. We paid for a extended warranty so that I myself would not have to do any work on this vehicle. Ive got an entire fleet of my own vehicles to work on as is. Weve completely lost faith in the reliability of this car. Think about all the others who purchase this brand of vehicle. Many of them do not perform their own services so would never even lift the hood to check things. Toyota corporate was absolutely no help either when it came to this situation. Poor craftsmanship, poor management.

Dropped my car for repair and was charged for the diagnostics which I was supposed to pay when picking up the car. After 40mins, I get a call from them asking me to pay another diagnostics fee because they needed more time, I mean who does that. So I tell them that wasn’t what I was told and I’m not paying extra unless for the repair and if they won’t do their job, I might as well come pick up my car, so they said it’s alright. Then I called after like 2 more hours and this guys tell me to come pick up my car that they decided not to work on it since I wasn’t paying for more time, meanwhile they were meant to call me to tell me that, instead of have me thinking my car was being worked on for hours. Definitely not where I’d wanna go back to.

Just bought a 2017 Mazda CX-9 and Amelia was helpful and responsive every step of the way. She didn’t put me in a high pressure sales situation, ensured that I got the best price and engaged with my 5 year old son and went as far as getting my son a snack from the vending machine as we are a cashless family. I had to take my Sienna in because there was a recall on a couple parts. When I scheduled the appointment they said it would take 2-3 hours to fix and so I asked if I could get a complimentary car so I dont have to just sit and wait. They said yes. When I showed up they told me they had no cars available.When you tell someone that they can have a complimentary car you should probably have one available for them. And if there is an emergency that happens where you dont have a car you should at the very least call them and let them know that before they show up.To their credit the manager from this place did call me on the phone after they saw this review and they apologized. I do appreciate that very much. But it still was not a good experience and I am not sure if I would want to go back.

Today I met Ken Drake & Josh who work at Toyota of Merrillville. Their considerate approach convinced me this is a great place to get my car serviced and also to buy my next Toyota. Ive owned a RAV4 for 10 yrs which now has 210,000+ miles - my best, most reliable car in 45 yrs of owning cars! Today the service engine light went on prompting me to try to get an oil change while I was 50 miles from home driving thru Merrillville. I dropped in and was greeted by Ken who took me to Josh in service who treated me like I was a valued long time customer. Josh quickly found a way to fit my unscheduled not very profitable oil change into their very busy day. Josh didnt try to sell me on other service work. While my car was serviced Ken in sales discussed options for me to consider if/when I decide to replace my RAV4. Both men were smart, low key & considerate which hasnt always been my experience at other dealerships. I highly recommend doing business with Toyota of Merrillville (particularly Ken & Josh!) - Ill be back!

Worst experience ever buying a new car!!! Let me start by saying the salesman Mitch was professional and I had no problem with him. It started with Ron in finance as added a nearly $3000.00 maintenance contract to the deal without even asking. When I went to cancel he offered to reduce price of contract or extend the time. No thanks! Then I had to remind them to return the $500.00 deposit I left for the truck I ordered. I had traded in my truck, which they were to pay off the balance. The payoff wasnt sent until 5 days after the deal causing me to make another payment on the old truck. When I asked them to reimburse me the additional interest that was charged because of the late payment, they blamed the receiving bank and the slow mail and that I would have to try to plead with the bank to forgive the interest. The contract I signed stated that they took ownership of the trade in and would pay it off as of that day.Buyer beware!!!

We were so happy to find the exact RAV4 Limited we were looking to own at Toyota Merrillvile. They are not easy to find these days. A 2018 Ford Focus got sold to me with a transmission problem back in January, I addressed the issue and struggled with getting the car fixed since the very beginning. Two weeks ago the shaking got to the point where I was worried for my safety while driving the car. I asked for a rental (covered from my warranty) while my car gets fixed, had an appointment where a rental should have been arranged as promised called a few days in advance to make sure everythings set and got an appointment reminder a day before but when I showed up for my appointment the shop advisor Josh told me theyre out of rentals. Without anyone letting me know, ended up late for work, tried to talk to a few people during the day but no solution has been offered since.

My 80 year old mother went to service her prius they charged her 290 dollars to look at the car . Then to put two headlight bulbs in .hybrid water valve and change the brakes and put a serpentine belt it has cost her nearly 2000 dollars and the car has no heat now. and all check engine lights has come on . They told her they will not tow car or pick up two miles away . This place will take advantage of elderly and women be aware.

Had an overall great experience the salesman Derrick was very nice and not pushy let me go on as long a test drive as I wanted and they offered me more for my trade in then Ford did and the car I wanted was $2,000 cheaper there then at Ford the only thing I didnt like was the finance manager kept trying to sell me all the add-ons and he kept my payment where I wanted it by extending it I looked over at the computer and seen that he had up to 84 months to hide all the warranty fees and I said I didnt want them and to put me back down to 72 months and my payment went down a lot so just keep an eye on that and youll be fine other than that great dealer

This will be the 4th time my car has been worked on. The first time for an oil leak. When we picked up the car from being fixed there was trans fluid leaking everywhere, coolant low and the engine wasnt bolted in. During the repair they broke a piece of the vehicle and did not even notice.I was also told there was an over $3000 bill for a warrantied vehicle. When I questioned the lady at the desk, she said this isnt my problem rudely and paged for a service writer. It truly wasnt my bill to pay in the end, but again poorly handled.The vehicle was brought back and the car was fixed. When we picked up the vehicle there was an audible rattle.The third visit for the rattle the manager was supposed to deal with me. We had to cancel our initial appointment due to covid in our family. It took a week of calls and asking for a manager to be told he was out of the office and that was why none of my voicemails had been returned. They did not test drive with me and messaged to ask about the rattle after already dropping the vehicle off.We pick up the vehicle to test drive after it has been fixed, though we are told that there is no one available because Saturday means short staff. However, we had already confirmed with the manager we would be arriving Saturday.We test drive. The sound is gone, but so is the part that was causing the problem. They just removed it. When we confronted them, the response was oh we must have had a miscommunication. Now we sit in the shop waiting for them to fix it properly.Update: We have left the vehicle for another repair. The response was well we would have just come out to your house to put the part back on. Would you have called and said hey we have part of your car here, when you didnt even notice it wasnt on when I picked it up? We had to have the car put on the lift to also show concerns of missing bolts that were noted at another shop. The manager was not sure what went there or if a part was missing.My warranty is only as good as the service provided, which is abysmal. Stay far away from this dealership. Each time I have had to bring someone with me or bring the vehicle to another shop after it being worked on here due to the poor work quality.

I’m gonna just do the maintenance myself. Annoying because I’ve spent a lot of money and if you’re gonna charge that much on things you can at least make sure service is on point.

Bought a Tacoma here in May 2020 and has been in for the same problem four times. The truck keeps registering low fuel pressure codes and stalls out. The first time they reset the code and sent me on my way, only to break down later. They next time they replaced the high pressure fuel pump, only to break down again. The third time they replaced the low pressure fuel pump and it broke down again. It’s now in for the fourth repair in under 90 days. I’m not going to tell you what or what not to do, but imagine yourself in my situation. A brand new, $40,000 plus vehicle that is a safety nightmare, stalling out on highways, intersections, parking lots etc. I will say one positive thing. A service advisor was nice enough to come pick me up at Costco the last time I broke down and drive me back to Toyota. He even helped me transfer my purchases. Thanks, Rick!

I really like this place about 10 years ago, but as years went by it gets worst in every department. Service dept doesn’t care what customer feel and takes longer time than usual to perform services(be prepare to wait 1hr+ for simple oil change). Sales and manager is only motivated to earned business in form of immediate delivery, and doesn’t like to take time in discussing what customer need. I was more comfortable with the transaction which I feel 10 years ago. I have been toyota fan for over 20 years, this place is no longer my dealership for long term service and it seems to me they do pick certain customers. good luck

So I was hoping for the beginning of a long relationship and all I got was less then service. I just bought a 2017 Camry hybrid and wanted oil change and an inspection. They sold me on fluids due at 60,000 miles then turn around and charge $61 to dispose of old fluids. Did not notice a weak in brakes.Too bad.Brian the service manager called me and convinced me to let them make this situation better. He did not fail, they returned the oil recycling fee and went over my car again.So glad Toyota of Merrilville went the extra mile to satisfy me.Great job Brian and Jac e.God bless you.

Id give it a 4.5 if I could because of how long the process of buying a car actually took. My wife and I were there for over three hours after we already decided to buy. But beyond that, the experience was great and the deal was very good. Remember that you can bargain at all stages of the process, including financing.

BEWARE! I bought a 2015 Certified Pre-owned Tacoma from here in 2018 with about 33,000 miles. While financing they added a few thousand dollars of warranties and extras I did not ask for. When I questioned the amount and said I dont want the extra warranty the financier would not take no for an answer. I ended up paying to upgrade the power-train warranty to bumper-to-bumper warranty. First time filling the truck with gas the gas door wouldnt open all the way because of a bent prong. Even though it was like that when I bought it they wouldnt cover the repair. At the 6 month service they did oil change and multi-point inspection and said everything was good. At the year inspection they said all the 30,000 mile maintenance was over due. I bought the truck with over 30,000 miles and it passed the 6 month inspection but now they assured me it was overdue for Differential Fluid change, Brake fluid change, Fuel system flush, and Alignment. After paying for these, I came in for a recall notice and now they tell me the spark plugs were due at 30,000. I bought a Certified vehicle with more than 30,000 miles and have had it in there 3 times and all they just now mention spark plugs. Why was this all not stated at the first 6 month inspection. I soon after had a loose fender flare that turned out to be glued on to the truck because of broken clips, with rust underneath. They said that is not a warranty issue and that I need to take responsibility for my own truck. Certified vehicle with bumper-to-bumper warranty and they tell me its all my responsibility. I argued that the glued on part should not have passed to be Certified free of body damage. They eventually agreed to fix it however I got the truck back with still a broken fender flare and more scratches near it. DO NOT BUY VEHICLE FROM THIS DEALER!!!!!

I came to have my vehicle serviced and was apallled that the blonde hair sales lady was not wearing a mask, and neither was the customer and his young daughter that she was helping. She took a test drive with the customer and none of them were wearing a mask!! What kind of example are you guys setting if you have a mask requirement on the door and the sales person and customers are not wearing them!! What a shame!

I took my dad here to buy a car. We were greeted as soon as we stepped out of our car by a friendly knowledgeable person. He stayed with us and showed us what they had. Let us test drive. Trusted us. When we decided to purchase something it went pretty smoothly. The young manager was very firm in the price. Great personality, patient, but was able to help us out. I would recommend this dealership for anyone who wants a good car with good service. (But be sure to return the managers pen... it is not included in the sale price.) 😉 😂😂😂😂
