Dog friendly, mostly outdoor seating (so great for the right season in AZ), and the food is good! I definitely recommend the burgers and shakes. Fun family restaurant!!

This was our first time trying handlebar. We ordered online for pick up which went smoothly. I ordered my burger medium well but it was more like medium, so it didnt get eaten. My husband ordered a cheesesteak. There was more steak than cheese. The onion rings and fries are average in taste. The comeback sauce was the only thing that was above average. We probably wont return for a second time.
Love the food here. Never had anything we didnt like. The staff is super friendly and goes out of their way to help you. We had our dogs with us and they had a dog bowl so we could give them water (we usually have a collapsible bowl but forgot it).
We’re here all the time with it being a close bike ride from the house. The food is always great and they have a solid variety of adult drinks 🍺 to get down on. Best thing to do is go there in the evening, enjoy a bucket of beers with some friends, and then head back the next day for some amazing hangover food that always hits the spot.
The fries were delicious. The kids burgers were good size and my kids liked them. However, I didnt care for my cheese steak. It had way too much wiz. I couldnt eat it. My husbands fish and chips were disappointing for the price. It came with two very small pieces of dry fish. Not sure I will visit again which is a bummer because they are in my neighborhood.
This was a flavor bomb in my mouth.Stay at Home Dad SandwichBraised short rib grilled cheese, cheddar and white American, pickled onions, fig and bacon jam on grilled sourdough.The only negative was the huge amount of bugs wanting some of my sandwich.
If you live in Eastmark and dont go here....youre missing out.Food - fairly priced and many quality choices. Veggie, Keto, healthy options plus many classic diner options.Atmosphere - laid back....all thats missing is the beach. I guess the pool will have to do.Service - super friendly servers and cool technology options for no contact bill pay and menus.This was our first time but it will be one of our go to options. Close to home and great overall experience.
We drove from Tempe to try their chicken sandwiches. Overall everything tasted good, and I couldnt stop eating the fries. It gets very busy so expect to wait for a table depending on the night. Everything is outdoor seating. Big thanks to John, he was hustling to help everyone as quickly as he could. We really appreciate the hard work and the good grub!
Very unique little local spot located in the Eastmark Great Park. The diner has a fun retro diner vibe but dont expect a traditional diner setting. There is currently no seating inside but seating is available on their adjacent patio with tvs. You can also order online ahead of time and pickup at the window to-go.We went on a fairly busy afternoon and although they were short-staffed the service was friendly and as prompt as they could be. The Handlebar Burger was good and I really enjoyed the fries! They serve alcohol and while I only had a beer some of the cocktails and shakes looked enticing.Will definitely be back when in the area again to try some of the other interesting looking menu items!
Nice local place to grab a quick bite to eat. We recently placed an order online (their website). It was fast and easy! The food was also well packaged and tasty. The only reason I did not give it five stars was because the Salmon dish side was small.
Good food, but not as great as the reviews make it seem. For the price I really expected something better, but it was fun to go once. The tator tots were done well though. But the burgers were nothing special and sandwiches were okay. We had the milkshakes, Carmel was the best, then strawberry, then chocolate. Had the stay at home dad sandwich and it was good. Handlebar burger was good, but again, not amazing. We came starving and didnt even finish it all.
I visited today and waited at the window to be served for literally 10-12 minutes. A server walked by me upon arrival and asked if I had been helped and I clearly responded, No, I have not. It was a sign that I will not ignore.
They have great staff and its a cool environment. Theyre a really small shop and do run out of ingredients on occasion.The stay at home dad is a great Sandwich and ironically is what my wife always gets.BEST ONION RINGS EVER.
Cool place at the park to get a quick bite.....kids enjoyed their chicken tenders and I enjoyed the spicy fish tacos. Plenty of room and quick service! Park is huge with a water park that is open till 10...
Beautiful place to dine in even on a bright sunny day. They only provide smart menu and u won’t have one copy of paper menu. If your device is dead for some reason may be battery then you don’t have much choice than picking standard.
Such a perfect night for this great outdoor neighborhood spot! We were a party of 4A & 3C + 1NB that later added 2A. All meals were good, fresh, timely. Adult beverages were tasty and worthwhile. Service was good.
I always go by here when I have time. I love the food. The workers are always so friendly. And the peanut butter whisky milkshake is to die for!
Had the loaded western tater tots and the deep fried cauliflower. Two seemingly simple small plates, turned into an amazingly late night feast!
They have a nice, large outdoor patio with picnic bench seating. It was busy but we still had good service. There were 4 of us and we all ordered something different and each of us enjoyed our meals very much. We definitely will go back!
I’ll start off by Saying overall, we love handlebar and love that it’s right in our backyard. But until they get more than 2 high chairs for a restaurant that is in the middle of thousands of homes occupied by families with small children, we can’t take the chance and walk 20 minutes only to find the two high chairs are being used and are already called for by another table. Please, spend the couple hundred of dollars and buy enough high chairs to have a surplus when the restaurant is filled on Friday and Saturday nights.
Food was great and very large portions for what you pay.
Great food and amazing service! They were so busy when we got there, however I still felt that we were given the right account of attention and service. You could tell the waitress was overwhelmed, however she handled herself well and continued to smile and be pleasant.

I eat at a lot of restaurants and in my opinion this little diner has it going on! It’s nestled right in a city park with a splash pad and a jungle gym park for the kids to play on, lots of outside seating. The food was fantastic, and the staff was pleasant. You could tell everyone loved where they worked.

Ate the delicious garden salad with green goddess dressing at the Handlebar Diner yesterday.Kept dry under the umbrella over the table despite the rain and kept warm with the outdoor heater nearby. Excellent service!
The male server with a beard made sure to sternly tell us no outside waters allowed since they serve alcohol, and to keep our dog off the bench. The stay at home dad was OK and pricey. I wouldnt get the shake again. Nice misters.
Handlebar is a fun local neighborhood spot, with great outdoor space to hangout. However, we found the atmosphere was mostly what you’re paying for at Handlebar. The cheese curds and sriracha aioli were delicious, but both our burger and fried fish sandwich were quite dry and not worth the price. Our server forgot drinks a few times, and they were completely out of ice cream so sadly we could not order any milkshakes. It was a great place to hangout (and the karaoke was pretty fun and entertaining), but if we went back it definitely wouldn’t be because of the food or service.
Friendly staff, outdoor dining. Menu items vary, and can be polarizing, depending on how ones taste lines up with their choices. I personally have not found anything on the menu that I am not satisfied with. What makes it better is the convenience if you are at the park, or nearby baseball fields as that is an easy walk.
Got there at 3:05 PM and the kitchen was closed and the only employe there could only serve drinks. Felt sorry for the guy.

Weve eaten at Handlebar 4 times over the last year and each time I enjoy it a little less. This last time we picked up dinner and when we got home 5 minutes later the frys were very cold and limp and the onion rings were under cooked. They were closer to a platinum blonde & soggy. Popping them in the oven didnt even help.
This is not my first time but certainly the worst time. I go to walk up window wait for at minimum 10 minutes before anyone even acknowledges me. A lady and guy went in and out at minimum 6 times each I’m being generous on my wait time and the amount of time they went in and out. Then finally the guy opens the window and asks if I have been helped. I say no I have not even been acknowledged I’m not sure because nobody has said a word if I can even order at the window and he says well I’m helping you now. I had to pause as I was at least expecting an I’m sorry or something of that nature. No instead we’re moving on as if that didn’t matter how long I was there. All I was ordering was 3 milkshakes. An he says we’re out of ice cream. Now if it was Sunday night I can understand, but it’s the beginning of the week at 7pm on a Monday. To be fair maybe they really were. But from going there enough I know they have received deliveries on Monday mornings of ice cream and also at a certain time much like McDonald’s tend to do they say they are out of ice cream or their machine is down. Given there was no follow up from him after saying we’re out. I’d venture to guess the level of interest in making the shakes outweighed the same. Again can’t confirm that’s the case but given my past experience I can certainly make this claim as being more than likely true. Not to mention but when they have been our in the past the post a sign indicating such and that was nowhere to be found. So I walked away pretty irritated by the entire experience and there was no further conversation not even a cheesy I’m sorry. So yeah I not plan to return anytime soon. My past experiences with the service have all been less then stellar but this one takes the cake.
I love that this restaurant is so close, convenient and every time I have gone I have been greeted, and not treated just like another guest, but a friend. The staff has always been so friendly, welcoming, and helpful! And the food is just absolutely mouth watering delicious! I love the outdoor seating and the fact that everything tastes so fresh! Definitely my favorite place to go in the neighborhood! I will always be a loyal “customer.” And it is well deserved!

Weve been to the park a number of times and I had heard good things about the restaurant. Food was okay. Service was horrible. Took forever for our server to acknowledge us and even longer to get our food. I had to start feeding my son snacks because he was so hungry. However our server did comp my sons meal which was very nice and unexpected.Side note - the umbrellas dont shade much of the tables. Would be nice if you could adjust the umbrella based on the sun.
The food was really good and the location is really cute right next to a park! The sandwich I got was the Stay At Home Dad! Ive rated it 4 stars for the variety of different food options and how good the food was but didnt rate it a 5 because, the glass of water I got with my meal tasted really gross and I wiped down the table before I sat down because the tables werent clean, with the virus I think they should be cleaned after every use! OMG The food is so good I absolutely adore the little deep fried cheese thingies theyre a bit expensive but theres a lot of them and theyre so good!!!I forget what theyre called but I also really like the lobster things theyre like lobster rolls I think and theyre absolutely delicious they could use a bit more butter though. Overall its a bit expensive but I would definitely come back every day its one of the best food from diners Ive ever had. Perfect in my book!!!!

Ordered the Philly Cheesesteak it was ok it wasnt a normal cheesesteak, but it was edible. It was what it is a diner cheesesteak, the cheese wasnt cheese wiz nor was it melted. Over all it was a nice place (very small inside), however it was only me and another guy there and it took just 20min to receive my food. But try it Ill it for your self the burgers look good.
Okay, here are the good things about this place- the food is pretty good, it’s very convenient if you live close, and it has such a cute retro vibe! Just look at my picture. Now here are the bad things- there service is slow. It really is. I believe it’s due to their fact that their kitchen is just small. Prepare to wait a while for your food. Also, the food is overpriced! Prepare to pay about 15-20 bucks after tip per person. (One tiny shake is like 8 bucks). That may not seem like a lot to some people, but that’s a lot for me if I’m sitting outside at a tiny dinner with slow service. Not worth it for me but I know some people love it!
So glad to have this place in the Eastmark park. Great to stop by and eat at, or to grab some food to go. Hope the Handlebar is a fixture in the park for a long time!

This without a doubt one of the best meals outside of home that I have enjoyed in a long while.The portions are beyond belief, the quality is above a 5 star establishment, and the flavor?? My tastebuds are dancing a jig with each bite. This is truly a hidden gem of which I am torn to give this a review. Why? Well once word gets out this place will be standing room only.My apologies for those of you who will be waiting in line, go now before this gets out. ( Believe me waiting in line will be beyond worth the wait)Let me tell about this unbelievable meal. The mashed potatoes are real not instant, cooked to perfection and packed with flavor. The cabbage is so flavorful that it’s more like a delicacy, than part of a meal. It literally melts in your mouth. Combined with the carrots you can get lost with the flavor of this alone!Now the “Corn Beef” dare I say, this cow gave his all knowing that the meal he or she was prepared for would create dreams bursting with flavor and leaving the lucky participants longing to return for future experiences like this one. Tender and delicious does not do this justice, I literally cut this with a fork.I wholeheartedly encourage you to go there now and tell me I’m wrong! If the rest of the menu lives up to this one item? Well let me say that I will make the drive here 3 or 4 times a week to try it all! ( You really should too) I warned you, once word gets out about this gem the wait, although worth it, will be long.ENJOY THIS NOW!!
What a rip off. Just paid $13.00 for an order of fish and tots. The order came with only 2 tiny pieces of what looked be like fish sticks and tons of tots. 😢👎. This continues to be a constant for us every time we decide to order from Handlebar. Last time we waited an hour outside sitting at a table only not to get served. Tonight there was a sign out front asking to sign a petition to not allow a McDonald’s to get built on the corner of Eastmark and Cadence. Nice try. I think not. At least at McDonald’s I get my money’s worth and get served.
Reasonably priced. Very friendly servers. Great service. They have tvs to watch the game and the outdoor seating. Great spot for families who have kids. Highly recommend.
Great food and drink selection. Easy outdoor seating with grass and trees for a view. Plenty of space for children to run and play away from diners and parking lot. Easy parking and just wonderful for a casual, Eastside meal.
The food was excellent!The service has improved greatly and it was quicker than the past.I gave it 4 stars out of 5 because we had to ask for the table to be cleaned and had to ask for utand napkins.

The Handlebar Diner at Eastmark, a great hangout for residents as well as those just looking for a good meal.Prices are a bit high but there is a large focus on locally sourced and high quality food items to help offset those costs in your mind.All dining is handled outside as the historic diner itself is barely large enough for staff to move around in. There are a few counter seats but in fairness it’s really cramped and noisy in there so sitting outside is a much better option.

It was our first time there. The atmosphere was great with out door seating. Our server Andy welcomed us in and gave us great service. I got the nachos and it is enough to feed 2 people easy. Ill be back for sure.
This place is super cool! But the food isn’t very good.
We ordered from this place last night. We all got wings and they even threw in a few extra on my order. Sadly my wings tasted very undercooked. Only ended up having 1 because i was worried it being undercooked. The two others i was with, got wings as well and theirs was fine. Im sure it was just a mistake and ill probably eat their again but skip the wings.
Really liked this place. Small but cool and enjoyable. Our sever autumn was funny and on point. Their Food is amazing. Highly recommend.

My husband and I heard good things about this place. We went there today thank goodness it was only 84 because it’s outdoor sitting only. He got the Dub Cheesesteak with tarter tots his was cold, small portion size for price and too much bread. I got a grilled cheese it was the worse grilled cheese I ever had honestly zero taste, the side salad was good and the service was okay, server forgot salad first and didn’t bring a fork had to wait 10 minutes to get the fork. Server was nice though. Our bill was $42 for two sandwich with soda. Very disappointed we won’t be back bad first impression.
1. Staff was rude and unprofessional. Staff seem to excel at a kind of inept antipathy toward customers.2. Outside seating on picnic tables. Each table has a single small umbrella which provides little to no shade. If you enjoy having your skin baked while eating lunch or dinner this place is perfect. Also if you enjoy sweating profusely this place is a solid option.3. They insisted that they place a large sign in the middle of our table to reserve the table later in the evening. We tried to move the sign and they said we must have the large sign in the middle of our table.4. My wife has a medical condition where she needs to drink a large amount of purified water daily. She brought her water bottle, as she always does, and we were told that they would need to remove her water bottle and dump out the contents and refill with their water. They said if they didnt do this they would be violating Arizona liquor law. Im not an attorney but this claim seemed dubious at best. Weve certainly never experienced this level of enforcement at any of the many other restaurants we frequent.
Visited for the first time today for lunch. They have a small kids menu and a lunch menu in addition to some breakfast choices, sandwiches, burgers, and entrees. I ordered the Chicken Club Wrap, which was really good and filling. I appreciated that everything was cut into bite-sized pieces inside the wrap, making it very easy to eat. I got tots for my side and they were golden and crispy. My husband ordered the Big Boy Grilled Cheese which is essentially grilled cheese with bacon. The bacon was nice and thick and cooked well. His tots came out a little cold, so thats part of why I deducted a star. Both of our kids had sandwiches and they use the same thick-cut sourdough for kids meals as everything else. The only down side to that is that a super thick sandwich is pretty challenging for little kids to eat (the other reason for losing a star). The prices were reasonable and food was good. They technically have inside seating but it is TINY and dont attempt it with young kids. For all intents and purposes this is an outdoor-only place. But the weather was beautiful so we enjoyed it!

Waited for an hour and fifteen minutes. Food is nothing special. Meat was dry and and poorly seasoned, and I’m pretty sure most of the for just got done in the microwave. Overpriced for what it is. Would be 1 star, but the other is a pity star because they seem understaffed. If they aren’t understaffed, there is absolutely NO excuse.

Terrible service. Our order was placed and 2 hours later they didn’t even have it. I was told the order was being bagged twice and it wasn’t even there. Food looked good but we never got it. After asking for a refund, we were told it would take even longer.

No silver linings here. I dont often review, so it pains me when a service does so poorly that it has to be done. We ordered our food ahead of time and were told that it would be ready in 20 minutes give or take. We understood that it being a Friday the wait would most likely be longer so we arrived 25 minutes later so that the food we ordered would be ready for pickup and pay. When we arrived it looked like there was no different lines for over the phone and Grubhub orders versus people who just showed up. We called the restaurant to confirm this and were informed that there was in fact only one line no matter the order method. We waited for 40+ minutes in line alongside online food delivery, other over the phone orders, and people just showing up and taking out food. When it was finally our turn, it looked like our food had just been sitting on the counter going to waste. When voicing our opinion about the lack of separate lines with front of the house, she insisted that the current setup works fine and gave us attitude. I understand that it being a Friday, they may have been understaffed, but thats no reason to take it out on a paying customer. Regardless, we paid for our food and left. When finally eating our food, it was no surprise that everything was cold and stale. I had ordered their barbecue burger with sauce and coleslaw on the side as recommended by a friend, and the burger was cold except for the middle of the patty. I can only imagine how soggy it would be if the sauce and coleslaw were included in the burger and it sat for that time. As for the fries with the burger, it seemed as though a third of the fries had been in the frier for 3 times longer as they were saturated in grease and had became brittle, and on top of that they were completely cold because they sat for 40+ minutes. I dont think that the fries being fresh would have saved them for the aforementioned reasons and minimal seasoning. Overall, a poor experience and I dont think Ill be giving them my business anytime soon.TL;DR We had to wait 40+ minutes in line for food that was already done, were given attitude by staff, and the food was cold, saturated with grease, and barely seasoned. I cannot in good faith recommend Handlebar Diner.
How can you not love a farm-to-table restaurant with an award-winning chef (Chopped Champion, yall!) right in your own neighborhood?! Adam, Nicole, Angela, Ian, and the rest of the crew crew do an amazing job, both in their work in the restaurant and out in the community! Eastmark is truly lucky to have this incredible diner.
