I called to ask three questions. The first two were about a product that they advertise on their menu but are having difficulty getting. The third was a totally different question, but the woman was very impatient and hung up on me. She didn’t say that she was busy. That was rude. I’m sure I would like the food there, but this woman can’t be an owner or she wouldn’t have acted like that. I am handicapped, so I have to ask questions over the phone so someone else can pick up my order. I can’t go to look at things myself. I am a potential customer. Now I’m not sure if I want to be.
Kosher Cajun has to be one of the best Kosher Delis in the world. Even if it were located in NYC it would compete well as one of the highest quality establishments of this type. The people are so friendly, it is like stepping into your family home.
Went in for a very lite take out lunch, a bagel and cream cheese. This is a real kosher food deli and grocery! First time...I was amazed at the wine selection and variety of food!
Great service. Joel is always very helpful!
Very good deli, you need to eat here...
From being from the Northeast, we are use to the New York style delis. This is the closest to it as it gets. Great food and great employees.
Delicious, fresh kosher favorites at good prices with friendly service. Im never disappointed when I go there. Best knish Ive had since NYC, and the pastrami is fantastic! Definitely try the fried chicken!!! They have a wonderful selection of baked goods & wine, and the grocery section has a ton of awesome items you cant get anywhere else.
The food was delicious! Whitefish salad is awesome! Friendly! Best of all, I bought NYC bagels!!!
Very expensive for small portions, but taste good. sandwich was $14 & Falafel plate was $10 & very small portions. It will be years before I visit again.
Very friendly service and delicious food. The patrons really care about your experience there and provide good service.
The food was good and enjoyable.
LOADS of kosher products! Meat from Shor Habor and Aarons. Everything from Cholov Yisroel milk (2L frozen) to grape juice and instant soups, kosher noodles, ketchup, fresh mehadrin yogurts, kosher condiments, nosh, challah rolls, Korns prepackaged babkas, Shabbos candles, HUGE selection of high quality kosher wines. Deli is delicious and good hechsher, but dont forget to ask for pas yisroel if you want that.
Incredible staff and a truly marvelous selection of things. I cant wait to try their New York bagels. The chicken finger batter with the sesame seeds was unique and TOTALLY worked. Some of the best chicken fingers Ive ever had honestly.
Wow! What a hamburger! And those fries!! You dont expect freshly wrapped and fried mini egg rolls or just-roasted babaganoush when you stroll into the only kosher game in town that serves as general store (shabulbs greet you a half-second after you stroll through the door, but before you see them youve already been tossed a homey, small-town greeting by at least one smiling face), grocery, take-out deli, and greasy spoon, and you dont get them, either. The egg rolls might have been recently frozen, but they were served hot & crispy, and the pitas with the baba were toasty and plated with fresh lettuce. The kitchen really shined with the half-pound burger. Two well-seasoned freshly-formed patties, two perfect medium-rares surrounded by a tasty char, bright and crispy lettuce/tomato/red onion, toasted buns, a pickled salad with robust zing, and the fries -- stubby wedges with a very thin batter or dredge of peppery goodness, crispy on the outside, steamy and smooth on the inside. This kitchen knows how to craft an amazing burger platter. Even better were the people. There was no doubt that we were out-of-towners, because they know everyone who comes. Its one thing to have regulars by necessity, but they run the place to get regulars by choice. Im ready to believe she knows the entire community by first name, and her pride in talking about it to out-of-towners just made me grin. I loved the sports memorabilia covering every available surface of the dining area -- my wife was less enamored but adequately impressed by the variety. The grocery selection doesnt match what were accustomed to in our spoiled east-coast communities, but if youre keeping kosher in the Big Easy youre going to get everything you need (and some things you want to need -- the giant blocks of drool-worthy halva at the end of the deli counter, e.g.), and attentive service only your Jewish mother could top.
Authentic New York deli experience. Loved the food.
Wonderful place for all your Kashrut/Kosher needs. Friendly people & warm welcome.
Whenever I travel to New Orleans for business I try to make it a point to visit the Kosher Cajun. Their food and customer service is second to none.
Excellent kosher restaurant. The food is delicious and service is superb. Highly recommended. The owner and staff are genuinely nice and helpful, true southern hospitality.
Ok place. Im a pastrami guy and its okay.
Nice kosher deli. The owner was super friendly and have us some free merchandise.Happy Hanukkah ✡️
Delicious kosher foodJill is making u feel at home
Life savers for Pesach. And just found out they deliver as well, perfect.
Great selection of foods, wines, and grocery items. Special cooked meals and catering available. A must try for lunch
The venue is great(there is free parking), the products are great(from a full service kosher grocery, to Judaica to an awesome deli and fantastic food!), But the best part of the kosher Cajun experience is Mr. Joel Brown- the owner. From his passion for his work, to his friendliness and New Orleans Jewish history he will enhance your visit. We will most definitely be back, and you should to😀
They have the best Reuben sandwich Ive ever tasted. They have a great little shop/grocery as well, where you can buy kosher items. While Im not Jewish, I am allergic to preservatives and appreciate their products being kosher. The staff is always friendly and helpful, too.
Love this place. Amazing food and friendly staff.
Great service and delicious food!It doubles as a great kosher grocery with huge selection.Loved the memorabilia all around the deli.I highly recommend this place!
Very friendly owner. They have a large kosher grocery selection, which was nice. The dine-in area kind of feels like a cafeteria, as does the food.
Always better than I remember from my last visit
Excellent food, kind and informative staff.
Authentic N.Y. jewish style deli, and market, with small gift shop
Good selection of foods. Many are imported from Israel. Full deli with sit down dining. The baked goods were excellent. The owner is friendly and knowledgeable. Some prices were good and others were high - probably because they are imported goods.
Excellent deli and really good folks.
Good kosher food. Several Cajun and new orleans choices. You can get your kosher needs here.
Staff was awesome and super Friendly! My family and I enjoyed a few sandwiches and some Latkes.
It was just great!
Amazing food, great staff, unique wine and grocery items. HALF SOUR PICKLES! Ive search far and wide for half sours and now have a local source. Also, the pecan halva is a must have! Love the staff and experience at Kosher Cajun Deli.
Being a Jewish deli and grocery, they are closed on Saturdays, which I think is great. With people losing their morals to try to make a penny, it is nice that they keep with the strict morals. The food in the deli is wonderful. Everything is neat and clean.
A great source of anything Kosher and a good chat with the owner, Joel Brown. They also prepared a catering order totally last minute in 30 minutes and the food was great. Thanks again, Joel!
Its not New York, but the pastrami was yummy, so BFF was the lox.so the bagel had no crunch.... its the water after all
Food was awesome. The owner was very nice and friendly. Service was fast and wait staff was very courteous. The atmosphere of the place has a lot of sports paraphernalia that are fun to look at and the owner will also explain them all to you. Definitely try the jambalaya as that is a New Orleans special.
We had a wonderful experience. We ordered food for shabbat a few days in advance. The order arrived at our hotel in the French Quarter around 2 PM Friday afternoon. We received a follow up phone call to make sure we received the food. The order was split beautifully so we had enough for both days. We particularly liked the jambalaya. Great coleslaw and chicken soup...full of chicken. We had ordered enough red beans and sausage to enjoy with our friends back in NYC.
Great place to get specialized Jewish foods and wines. I am not able to go for lunch as I do not work on the south shore anymore, but the food is good and it is nice to have real deli meals.
Five Star. This is a fantastic place to dine. The food is not only tasty and healthy, but the presentation is great and the cost is reasonable. You are welcome here as there is a family atmosphere as soon as you enter the store. The staff is very friendly and treat you as if you are life long friends and they have some of the best cooks. If you want to eat healthy, this is the place to dine.
Way too over priced. I bought some sesame seed food bars and they were old, stinky, and not at all edible. Pastrami was $22 a pound. It wasnt special or extra tasty, it was plain. I wont be going back.
Enjoyed this deli so much! The ambience was peaceful and welcoming and the owners were extremely nice and accommodating! We tried the knishes and will def be back for more 😊😊
Best fried chicken I have EVER had. Tried their poboy sandwich too, which was quite tasty. Excellent customer service.
Food delicious staff very friendly
Kosher Cajun has catered dinners for our Jewish day schools annual trip to New Orleans for years, and Mary and her crew do a great job. They are super flexible about delivery and last-minute dietary restrictions, too. Weve been to the deli for lunch and dinner, and it has been terrific. I love the burger and fries (especially the pickles).
Always great food and fresh
Great lunch spot. Went with coworkers-vegan, vegetarian, omnivores, and picky eaters all found good sandwiches and matzo ball soup. The chocolate halvah was great too.
Ive been here several times. Great Kosher restaurant and grocery. Im not qualified to review the products they offer, but its a wonderful family atmosphere and the food is delicious. Ive had the Reuben and the stuffed cabbage. The latter is just like my Papa used to make!
Best kosher place in New Orleans. Very original dishes that Ive never had anywhere before. I got the kosher shrimp appetizer and jumbilaya both were great. Staff is very friendly Ill definitely be back
Expensive and disappointing. Skinny corned beef sandwich, flat prepared horseradish (been around too long?), jar of pickled herring full of skin & guts, grape juice that costs $3.49 in grocery store on sale for over $8. Is this the only option for ethnic Jewish food in New Orleans?
Wasnt that busy when I ordered and took them ten min to tell me they were out. The sandwich I got was okay, nothing knock out. $12 a sandwich is a bit steep, especially for what you get out of it.
Clutch food and really cool sports souvenirs all over the store
I really like this place. Sal gets different things from there. They call him when he orders the Salmon that he likes. They are all nice people. We have been going for years.
What can I say? Its the real deal. The only place to buy Kosher meats in south Louisiana. Nice deli if youve got your corned beef craving on. Passover foods, books, jewelry, its got everything. Its a little pricey, but hey, everything has to be shipped in and volume isnt that high. I think were lucky that Joel settled down in NOLA or there would be NOTHING in this state.
Incredibly friendly service. Great kosher food at incredible prices. Lots of native New Orleans options like Mock Shrimp Po Boys, Jambalaya, and Red Beans with rice. I had the Jambalaya and it was great! You just cant get this in NJ. The owner, Joel Brown, is not only incredibly nice but deserves quite a bit of Hakarat HaTov (gratitude) for providing this high quality deli/restaurant/grocery/judaica/wine store to the New Orleans community and passers-through like myself.
Great kosher food!!!
Pleasant deli, well stocked kosher grocer, basic judaica needs. Very important store for the locals and for kosher travelers
Visited from CA for a while for treatments for our daughter. Very warm and friendly staff! Good selection of kosher meats, mostly frozen. Also good wine and Judaica selection. 👍
Very good food.. very nice and friendly
I have not been there yet, however I sent my relatives to Kosher Cajun when they were in Nola last year: they had a great experience..in fact Kosher Cajun packed their food in dry-ice containers, such that it was able to remain cold for a very long drive up HWY 49 /up to Central Louisiana...BTW, Dan Stein, of STEINS DELI, seems to like them also-- because, as I recall, he buys some of his larger quantity boxed items (like Matzah) from Kosher Cajun, etc. 🍴🔯☕
This is a lovely jem my husband and I found while living in the area. The food is delicious and authentic with a new Orleans twist. Love the people who work here and the atmosphere. Great place!!
Very very clean, thee cleanest, kitchen and food properly prepared as ordered. Friendly. All animals raised without torture, in piece and love, no chemicals, all natural.
Ordered tuna sandwich and sweet potato chips. The chips were SO delicious! It stinks this deli isn’t in walking distance of the hotel at which I’m staying.
The one place in the area to sell Kosher versions of local dishes. Its also a great place to get Kosher food and Israeli items, and it serves as both a grocery store and a deli.
Great selection of alcohol and food in the grocery. Menu has a lot of different options. Service is quick and food was delicious
I just stopped in here for a bit to eat and it was just great. Had an excellent rueben and the staff was very friendly. There was a good atmosphere in the place it was filled with little groups having lunch. Will definitely be heading back there very soon!
Authentic New York style deli serving all kinds of goodies. Make sure to try the Rachel sandwich. Matzo ball soup is very good. The pickles they serve with the sandwiches are amazing. Huge selection of ethnic foods and candies.
Great Food, All your Kosher Needs. Im born in Eastside Manhattan. So I know Great Kosher Food.
Great kosher food. Great service. Always fresh. Made daily. Love the place.
Have visited many times, and I always have a great lunch here. The owner and his family give the atmosphere a special warmth. Metairie is full of surprises and Kosher Cajun is definitely one of them. I love browsing the grocery and trying new foods.
I really needed some kosher food for Passover and I was so glad that they were open for chol hamoed. they serve some fried chicken and fries and it was very very delicious I highly recommend them. Im not from the south and I feel like I got a good kosher southern experience.
Amazing delicious kosher food, friendly service, quick delivery.
There is an actual kosher deli in New Orleans and it is this place right here. I just went there for the first time today and the sandwich I had was amazing. You can taste the quality in the meat..very very good. I’ll definitely be coming back often now that I know about this place.
Motza ball soup is incredible. Insanely good. Everything else Ive had there is kinda okay but 5 stars because that soup is so good. If you expect a lot of other things in your motza ball soup other than motza balls, you will be disappointed. The broth is heaven in a bowl. 12/10 will soup again.
Great New York style deli. Reuben is great. Homemade pickle on the side!
Friendly haimish place. Great place to stock up on kosher groceries.
Amazing food, nice people, great service!
Small but best selection of kosher foods in the city. Deli foods are delicious. For visitors to the city, it is a fairly long taxi ride from the downtown hotel district, especially during rush hour.
Staff is friendly and the food is good. They offer sit down as well as delivery. The store also has a market as well as an assortment of other items.
Good quality & nice service
Very good food, reasonable prices, great selection in the store
Great place! Awesome corned beef!
A wonderful kosher deli and shop nestled in a hidden alcove.
