I have a Lewmar windlass that needs warranty repair. I was told to go thru them for this. I called & spoke with Kent who said to fill out a form he would send & he would submit it to Lewmar. He said it normally had a 24hr turnaround. Now, 10 days later nothing has happened. I got one email from him basically saying he was too busy to deal with it. Very poor service.
Quality of work is excellent, but expensive. To avoid surprises, get a written/signed estimate on each item even if only a range / not-to-exceed number / additional-authorization-necessary number, have weekly communication to closely review draft bill for how charges are mounting, and be very mindful of how long the job is taking if you are hauled-out at Hurricane Cove bc the lay-up charges rack up quickly.
