I was on a drive with my husband, 6 year old and 3 year old when our rental cars check engine light came on with the oil symbol. We were in the middle of nowhere and pulled over at the Horseless Carriage Used Car business, feeling worried. A very nice man with a dog named Maggie came out and helped us. He looked at our car and helped us out by giving us 5 gallons of oil - on the house! - just to be a good Samaritan. We were so grateful and relieved. We got home safely and I want to thank him and tell you to please use this business. I was not expecting that kind of old-fashioned service and kindness. We will pay it forward.
Nick and the gang are just solid, honest car people. Comfortable atmosphere, good service and honest work at a fair price.
Recently purchased a used vehicle here, nothing but good things to say. Nick & Melissa were very helpful during the process and took care of everything I asked to be done to the car between the test drive and picking up for purchase. No complaints from me, I would not hesitate to purchase my next vehicle from them.
Ive bought many vehicles over the years and this was one of the best experiences of them all. From walking in to take a look and test drive, to signing the final papers and driving away, I was always met with friendly faces and professional service. Nick went above and beyond to make sure the pre-owned vehicle I bought was safe and reliable for my son. And I was pleasantly surprised when he fixed things I didnt even realize needed to be fixed, which Im quite certain just saved me money down the road. Fair prices and above average service. I highly recommend checking them out if youre looking for a pre-owned vehicle. 5 stars without hesitation.
Greatest place to get your next car. Horseless carriage takes good care of their customers and services all that they sell at a reasonable price. If you want a place that when it comes to you and your car truly care Horseless carriage can take you there! There AWESOME!
Appraised our classic for free, really helpful and seem like good peopleThanks Nick !
I just bought a truck from them and it was a great experience. I walked in very hesitant because I had gotten a used vehicle somewhere else 2 months prior and died a month later. Nick was very good to me and was meticulous in going through his vehicles. I highly recommend horseless carriage to anyone.
Super happy with my car shopping and buying experience. No high pressure sales, they were honest about issues with the car before the purchase AND committed to fixing them. Thats exactly what they did with no drama. Id highly recommend them to anyone looking for a good deal on a used car.
I have been here a few times now and have always been treated great. Very impressed with there mechanics. I would recommend them to everyone. Great people with good vibes!
Recently purchased a vehicle from Jim & Nick @ Horseless Carriage and hands down this was the best buying experience Ive ever had in buying a car. They have buy here pay here and they are men of their word! They marked the price wrong on my car and it didnt have a warranty but originally said it did. When i was signing my paper work they still gave me a the 90 day warranty. If you want a reliable car from a honest hard working business then go to the Horseless Carriage. You wont regret it!
Nick noticed that the front tires on the car we were buying would just barely pass inspection. He put on a new pair at no extra charge. The car was ready to pick up on the day chosen with no problems. Great experience.
I drove home my new used car today and I absolutely love it. They were so easy to work with. They arent pushy and dont try to pressure you into buying anything. They make the whole process of finding a used car stress free. I would recommend them to anyone and if Im ever in the market for another used car, I will be checking their inventory first. If I could give more stars I would. Thank you Horseless Carriage from a very satisfied customer.
I just picked up my new car from here today and everyone here is extremely nice and helpful. They made sure everything was good to go and you can tell they put the effort into the cars they sell to make sure they are in excellent condition. Definitely recommend 100%
Bought my 06 Volkswagen passat here hands down the best place to purchase a used vehicle. Everyone is absolutely amazing they truly care about their customers and making sure everything is all set with the vehicle you buy. I would give more stars if i could.
HORRIBLE. They dealt with a family member of mine. They lie and take your money and give you vehicles that are already broken and then pretend to fix them. Two cars down, both broke after a week and continue to break down and they NEVER actually fix them. Its all bull. So disappointed. Do NOT go here and waste your time and money.
Straight skumbag....owner pretends to be a nice guy shake on a deal for time and money...no call and sells a truck out from under me...when Im 5 minutes away and had my personal number.....hes the reason why people dont trust shops.....buyer beware....
I purchased a 2008 Nissan Versa about 2 months ago. It is a low pressure environment and the salesman worked with me to get me my car. Within a week, I noticed a slight issue, I brought the car in and was told when the clunk gets worse to bring it back and they would fix it. I just called them bc the clunk is worse and once again, super friendly and accommodating. The problem will be fixed and I will once again leave there as a happy customer.
The manager fired the best mechanic (Gary) because he was honest with the customers. They make.money from selling used cars bought at auctions. Nick has bragged at Hollis Flea Market where he is the manager..on how he rakes in the money from Milford Fools. Go somewhere else.
I would give these guys 6 stars if I could! Amazing people with great skills. I bought my car there 10 months ago and went to have it inspected. They gave me a loaner for a day while they repaired my car and i came back and it was all set! Reasonable prices and personable people!
Always great service!
Brought my 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee to Bonneville Jeep and was quoted $2,500 for repairs necessary for inspection. A friend recommended the Horseless Carriage in Milford. The guys were awesome to deal with and completed the work for less than $500. Everything was thoroughly explained. This local shop does great work and would recommend them.
Honest and reliable mechanics and staff. Very pleased with recent service which was much less than quoted by a mechanic at a Toyota dealership. I will be a repeat customer!
Yes its true what other reviewers say about this place.Nick is happy to repair things that he missed on his initial inspection of the vehicle. He is very knowledgeable about cars and his mechanics are friendly and helpful.I recommend buying a car here
My husband brought in our car for service and was told would be a day or 2 no big deal. The next day I was at the grocery store and saw my car at VIP in Milford. Apparently 90% of the work we pay Horseless carriage to do they subcontract out to another shop and dont tell you. If I wanted it done down the street I would have brought it there at least I would have know where it was. Well at least now I know all the good work they do is actually the VIP in Milford.
I just purchased my third car from Horseless Carriage, all Toyota hybrids -- two Priuses, one of which is mine, one of which is my daughters; and one Highlander, which is my wifes -- and all of us couldnt be happier. Nick, Gary, Dave take great care of us. They are conscientious, they are friendly and they clearly know what theyre doing. I constantly recommend Horseless to friends and I recommend it to anyone.
Good carsGood pricsGood serviceGreat people
A bad mechanic cost us loads of money because work as simple as an oil change was billed but not done. we switched to Horseleses and now both cars are on the mend and for a lot less money. Nick and Robert are always welcoming and sympathetic to anyone whose car is costing them money. Ever notice, the moment you think you might have a little extra money, your car seems to know?
I must start out by saying, if you are in the market for a used car or truck stop in at Horseless Carriage. They have a great selections or used car and trucks!! The staff here is very friendly and knowledgeable and can help you with pretty much anything you may need. A few months ago I bought a 2005 Nissan Titan from there and just recently had starter issues. Nick and the team at Horseless carriage completely took care of the issue at no cost to me. This was a huge shock to me! Nick was true to his word “ if there ends up being anything wrong with it, please bring it back and will take care of you” I would highly recommend you making your next vehicle purchase at Horseless Carriage, or atleast looking at their great options!! I am satisfied 100% !!
I honestly cant recommend these guys enough. My father-in-law recommended and introduced me to Nick and the guys last year when I needed a replacement of my exhaust system and they quoted me a more than fair price, did a fantastic job, and since have gone above and beyond to earn and keep my trust and they have a customer for life! Thank you, guys!
I have been buying cars for myself for over 45 years from many different dealers and was amazed at at the level of attention and the service at the Horseless carriage, and all without any of the usual sales pressure . They answered every question I had to my satisfaction. After the purchase they went to put some gas in it and the check engine light went on so they diagnosed the problem and then they expediently got the parts and did the proper repair. And they also provided a loaner car to get me around until everything from sales to repair was done. ( replaced a O2 sensor and coil pack. ) The Ford Escape was a great purchase at a fair price and exceeded my expectation. I couldnt be happier.
Had a great experience with their mechanic Nick. Stand up guy and will do what’s best for your car and wallet.
I visited from out of state to look at a specific vehicle they had. Everyone there went out of their way to accommodate me from the people in the office to the guys in the shop. Nearly one year later and Im still happy with my purchase!
It is so refreshing to find an honest automotive car dealership and garage. My long time mechanic retired, and the thought of finding another great mechanic for my Benz terrified me. These folks came highly recommended and, after my first service visit, can understand why!! Look no further if you live in the area, Horseless Carriage should be your first stop when looking for used cars, or A+ plus service!! Thanks to all the folks at Horseless (and lets not forget Agita too!!) ......:)
I had bought a used car recently from them about a month ago. Even though they normally charge at least $500 for down payment, they let me only pay $300 because that was all I had. It was also completely refundable if I decided to change my mind. They also made sure that the car was fully functional before selling it to me. The car also came with a 20 day temporary plate. Earlier this week my car broke down and we decided to call them up. They offered to fix it at no charge and gave us the number of a man who could tow it up there. Little did we know that the entire transmission needed to be replaced (which is roughly a $1200 job). They kept their word to completely repair it for free. Id recommend this place to anyone
I love these guys. They are the most honest hard working mechanics I have ever dealt with. I bought a used car from them for my16 year old son and it runs great. I had one problem where the window motor on the drivers side needed replacing when it died after I only had the car for about a week. The manager, Nick, ordered me a new window motor and installed it, all free of charge, even though I had purchased the car from him in as is condition. He refused to let me pay anything, stating that the car was just recently purchased and therefore he was going to warranty the part for me, regardless of it being bought as is.He put the new window motor in a couple of days later, while I waited. Great shop, great staff and all highly knowledgable mechanics. I wouldnt go anyplace else for any of my car needs. I highly recommend this place to anybody who is looking for highly qualified, honest mechanics, I have highly recommended this shop to all my family and friends already, and of those of them that have had the need to use them, I have been told by them that they cannot thank me enough for recommending The Horseless Carriage in Milford to them.
Rude, unhelpful and generally difficult to deal with. Nick (The owner?) was not someone I would recommend anyone deal with. Just wait for his response below, it will say:This is a fake review, we dont have this person in our customer data base and they are not a real person anywhere in the worldGuess what Nick? Youre right, I am not in your data base, because like all of the other people who found you rude and off putting we didnt buy anything from you and chose to give our money to someone else. That doesnt mean we arent real.
We will never take our cars any where else! They are the most honest guys around. Also bought a car from them last year and its the best used car Ive ever had. Nick and his crew are the best!
I have to say I am very disappointed with the customer service, honesty, and integrity of this establishment. I brought on of my vehicles in for a service estimate and they would not even consider providing me with an estimate unless I paid their diagnostic fee first. I knew what the problem was and was just asking for an estimate. They would not even give that to me without paying. Needless to say I left immediately, I feel bad for all of the people that frequent this garage and think that they are getting such fair and honest service.
Love this place! Fair pricing quality work and honest mechanics!
Used them has my auto shop before i moved to Nashua but iam going back they are great to work with good work too
The best place around to buy a used vehicle. The owners and all the staff are all friendly and have gone out of their way to make buying a used car one of the best experiences Ive ever had.
Excellent plus. Friendly and honest.
They have great mechanics working there thank you Dave
Horseless Carriage is the number one mechanic, people you can trust to 100%. We are german volunteers doing a social year in Temple and had several issues with our vw passat. We all have very little money and knowledge of cars but they always gave us the best price. The boss was driving to Manchester (one way 1h) to get 4 screws from a vw dealer because he wanted the break pads to be 100% safe he charged us 20$. I recommended and will recommend Horseless carriage to everybody with a car as the most honest mechanic around.
Friendly people, timely service, fair prices.
Nick at the horseless carriage in Milford nh was extremely knowledgable and helpful. I had a problem with my front end and had different laundry lists from other mechanics on what was wrong. These lists totaled to over $3000 worth of work.Nick offered to look at the car AFTER HOURS, and deduced the problem with a simple test drive and a quick check under the car.He had the parts I needed the next day and completed the job the following day. I may also add it was done to the tune of only $500 and the problem is fixed!Needless to say, the Horseless Carriage has earned my trust and future business. I would be happy to recommend them to any friends, family and complete strangers. Way to go above and beyond with customer service!
I bought a used ford ranger private sale nick checked the truck out for me when I bought it to him to have it oil under coated he went all through it checked everything out nick and his mechanic did a great job on the undercoat job we are going back and having our Miata under coated great service knowledgeable staff Steve &sally
At one point I swore by this garage but now Ive been jerked around too many times and Im absolutely done coming here. I had my truck dropped off for a basic wheel bearing job maybe like a day or two at most no.....my truck sat there for 3 months because according to Nick we can only get that part from California. Oh yeah they also put used parts on my truck when they made that fix. I bought a car from them cause I needed one in a pinch and still to this day they have not inspected it because they insist there has been damage done by me that makes uninspectable.....the point is they never made my car road Worthy when I bought it and now expect me to pay out of pocket to fix something they should be responsible for.....I hate this garage and dealership absolutely done....please with all due respect dont bother bringing your vehicle here youll only be sucked dry and Nickled and dimed
Always helpful, accommodating and fairly priced.
Ok, so first off, Im 47 years old, and have never posted a public review for anything in my life, until now. The experience I had with Nick and the entire staff at Horselesss Carriage was incredible! I normally buy new, as I have been burned in the past with small mom and pop dealerships that promise you much, but deliver little. What follows is my unbiased opinion of Horseless Carriage, and it has been seven months in the making. It started when I wanted a spare care. Something cheap, as a backup for the family cars. Something reliable, that wouldnt let us down in a pinch. I noticed an older, low mileage Chrysler Sebring online at Horseless Carriage, and was hesitant to give it a look, thinking about all the bad experiences I had had with used cars, but I had owned a Sebring in the past and I loved it, so I figured why not? It was Sunday of Memorial Day weekend. I figured why not stop by and take a look, as I was in the area. I also figured nobody would be there, so I wouldnt have to deal with any pressure. The first thing I notice as I pull in, is that all of the vehicles are dirty and covered in dust. My first impression was, lets get the heck out of here. But then I noticed the Sebring that caught my eye. It looked decent enough and was certainly priced right, so I figured I would come back on a day they were open, and ignore the fact that everything was dirty. It was at this point that Nick (The Owner and Manager), came up from behind, and said good afternoon! I turn around and there stands a guy who I can only describe as Indiana Jones distant cousin! All he needed was the whip! I was greeted with a big smile and handshake. I was surprised he was opened. He said he was out antiqueing and stopped by to drop some stuff off at the shop. He immediately apologized for the dust and dirt on the cars, as road crews had been outside his dealership working the roads for most of the season. So, I asked about the Sebring and why it was priced so low, and he went on to explain his business model to me. Sounded familiar... We price everything below book, make little money, but try to move lots of good cars, yada yada yada... OK, I said, but why should I buy here? Ive had bad experiences with used cars in the past, and Im a little skeptical to do it again. He explained that they had been in business just over a year, and that they had great reviews. He explained that every car came with a 45 day warranty BUT, that if something happened after that he would make it right. He said, I promise if you purchase a vehicle from us, you will be happy. I will make and keep you happy. At this point, and after some unrelated small talk, Nick won me over with his no pressure personality, so I decided to give the Sebring a try. Sadly, unlike my former convertible, it was just to small for me. Fortunately, there were many other cars on his lot of a similar price. I felt bad keeping Nick there, when he wasnt even opened, but he was happy to show me all the cars I wanted. Hes a true car guy who likes to make people happy. In all, I drove five cars that early Sunday evening. Sadly, none of them were right for me. Mostly too small or not my type of vehicle. Nick says, Hey, I know you didnt come in looking for an SUV, but I have the perfect vehicle for you, which just came in a few days ago. Its still on my lift, as we are still going through it.Turns out the vehicle is a GMC Envoy XL with 124,000 miles, four wheel drive and third row seat, but priced right at $5,500. The book was over $9,000. I thought this will be a money pit. Nick explained that they already replaced shocks, springs, front brakes, and many other items and they werent done yet. He stated they go through every vehicle to make sure EVERYTHING works as it should. Ive never owned a vehicle like this, but realizing the value, I figured why not come back and try it. He said he would call me when it was ready to be driven. Too be continued...
(Continuation of previous review)So I ask Nick if hed like a deposit to hold the Envoy, and he states no.. No? Really? Ok, he doesnt even take any of my information. He just says stop back in a few day, and we will have it ready. NO PRESSURE! So, I go back in four days, figuring I probably lost the vehicle, as I got busy, but it was still there, and Nick said, I was just about to give up on you! He had a few people wanting to try the vehicle, but he explained that he had another guy he was giving first crack to. Me! So, I sit in the vehicle and was blown away! Huge! I am 65 and rugged, but I swam in this vehicle. I took it for a ride and it was soooo smooth, and rode so nice. The Bose radio system didnt hurt either! So Nick was right. It was the car for me. I purchased the vehicle, which was an easy process and went on my way. Truth be told, I was still very nervous. Afterall, the vehicle did have 125,000 mile on it. We shall see I said. A week later it rained. For the first time I noticed the rear wiper didnt work. Nor did the defroster. I also noticed a squeak coming from the rear of the vehicle. First thoughts? Here we go!!!I walk in, and Hey!! Hows the Envoy! I explain the situation, and he apologizes, but says with a calming smile, dont worry, we will take care of it. We promised to make you happy. I make an appointment, and being it in a few days later. He gives me a loaner vehicle! Turns out, it was a simple fuse for the defrost, and that noise I heard? Rear brake squeal. He replaces them free! Oh, and while they were doing that they noticed a bad ball joint. It wasnt bad, but close enough, so they did that as well! Free! All was good until about two months out.. I noticed a small flutter in the engine at idle, and it would sometimes stall. Uh oh.. I bring it back to Nick. Of course Im greeted with the same friendly smile. I explain the situation and it turn out it needs an engine! OMG! Out of warranty, out of luck right? Nope! Nick says, dont worry we got this. What? Really? Yup, he gets an engine with 85,000 miles on it, in perfect shape (40,000 less than the original), and puts it in. Its perfect!!! Silent, strong, no hiccups! Awesome! All the while I was provided a nice loaner vehicle free of charge!Look, his mechanics are top notch as well it must be stated, and they dont gouge you! Just honest service repairs, from honest friendly people. You wont find better service pricing. You ever want to know a guy? Someone you can trust? You know, a relative, friend, coworker or anyone who can do service for you reliably and cheaply? This is your guy! This is your place! And its not someones backyard!Im sorry I waited this long to post a review. I wanted to make sure the 4wd worked (it does), and that there were no other surprises. In closing, my experience with Horseless Carriage was one to remember. I go there for all my service as well, and wont hesitate to buy from them again. If you want a different experience from true car guys, give these guys a shot. You wont be disappointed!Thank you Nick! Thank you Horseless Carriage!
I would recommend this dealership to anyone they are amazing and go above and beyond to make sure there customers are happy :)
Friendly, knowledgeable and great prices
Worse dealership Ive ever dealt with . Salesman seemed to be stoned or drunk cars werent respectable till after you buy them
Honest people. They really do look out for you and theyre not just trying to get every last dollar out of youre wallet.
Great service, great prices ! Hard to find honest mechanics!
Very insulting and gave me a price of 0 should not tell people to sell there car on Craigslist at least give me a price your should be more respectful to your customers and I hope u are ready to walk away un happy and unsatisfied
Great cars, great people, great service.- Joe S.
In my opinion stay away. Buyer Beware
Friendly honest service.
