Car X is fire. They are so kind and helpful. I’ve been there multiple times and it’s always been a great experience. The most recent time nothing was really wrong with the car, I just brought it in because obviously i’m inexperienced and didn’t know much and they were completely honest and told me nothing needed to be repaired. They didn’t charge me at all for that! I love Pat also, such a kind person!

I had an excellent experience. Scheduling with John on the phone was simple; he was honest about when they could realistically work on my car. I needed help to find a dead rodent (ugh), so it was a job of unknown magnitude. Not all shops will quote you their labor rate upfront, but this Car-X did. Together we agreed on a time budget for the search, which succeeded, and they confirmed no other damage to my vehicle. Though the job than a little over our agreed time, they didnt charge me the difference.Thanks to Pat, Billy, and the whole team!

I came in with a punctured tire and was very impressed with the clear explanation of options that I was given. I wasnt sold on any particular option but instead was treated with respect and intellligence and given clear choices, their costs, and the pros and cons of each. I opted to replace all 4 tires on my AWD vehicle and feel confident and happy with this choice. I really appreciated the time that was taken with me and the extremely quick turnaround time on the work: I was on my way in a matter of hours despite comin in without an appointment. I highly recommend this location! *Sidenote in this time of Covid: they take a highly thoughtful and attentive apporoach to protecting their staff and customers- I felt very comfortable with the measures they have in place to limit contact.

Great auto shop that values good customer relationships over a quick buck. They are always up front and honest about options. They never try to push unneccesary or optional repairs. The prices are very fair.

I trust the folks at this Car-X completely. They have taken care of my car from regular oil changes to bigger deal repairs, always quickly and at a good price. My uncles own a garage and I run anything thats a bigger deal past them. They have always agreed with the diagnosis, suggested fix, and price. I also really appreciate that the guys at this Car-X are respectful and have never assumed I dont know anything about cars just because Im a woman. For other women and femme-presenting people out there, I have never been looked down on here.

This review is so long overdue. I have been their customer for about two years now and I just absolutely love them. If youre looking for an auto shop that you can trust, this is the one! They are very knowledgable and honest, they will never try to sell you more than what your car needs. In fact, when my husband and I were car shopping a few years ago, we would bring the cars we were interested in for them to take a look at them, and after we brought a few cars they stopped charging us! Also, one time my Ford Escape seemed to have a computer issue, so they took a look at it, fixed it and didnt charge me anything because the problem was so minor and easy to fix. I mean, who does that?! Theyre just awesome and helpful. Thanks Pat, John and all of your team!

Very happy with my experience at CarX today. Scheduled my appt online a few days ago with lots of times to pick from. Got my oil changed, new battery, and new ball joint. Even with having dropped it off in the very late morning, it was all done less than 3 hours later. Also really appreciate their COVID-19 measures, including a creative bucket on a pole for exchanging keys and paperwork. Its rare to find a business going to such lengths (literally!) to look out for its staff and customers. I definitely plan to use them again.

Made an appointment online to get my oil changed at 10:30am, when I arrived they told me they “could probably get to it this afternoon” today was my only day off work so I left it. Ended up getting called into work and they said they were just starting around 3pm. I took an Uber to work and got a call at 4:20 saying they were leaving in 15 minutes asking if I was coming to get my car. By the time I ordered an Uber from work, it was going to be 25 minutes until I would arrive. They said they couldn’t leave the key any where for me and were leaving, even though their hours listed online showed they were open until 5:50 (I was arriving at5). If I would have known this I would have made other arrangements but 15 minute notice wasn’t enough time to do anything. I called back crying because I needed my car in the morning and they finally agreed and again stated if it got stolen it wasn’t their fault.

I couldnt say enough good things about Car-X on E Lake... and its completely unacceptable that I have waited this long to leave them a review. We have gone many times as we live only a couple blocks away, and they have always taken on our something is making a weird noise inquiries with a smile and grace. Twice we have gone in and they did not charge us a dime but told us what was wrong, and one of those two times they even welded some piece of our alternator back on that was causing the rattling. They just told us it was a manufacturer error and fixed it. Also Pat, who I have often seen working the front desk, is super friendly and is always willing to answer any question. I hope everyone who reads this goes and gives them some business, they are a great shop!! Thank you Car-X!!

Lets be real. Sometimes car places can be real bleeps to us ladies in all manner of ways. Maybe they nickel and dime us because we dont know any better maybe they speak down to us or maybe theyre just overall dismissive. This happens a lot. Not at Car-x on E. Lake St.!!!! I had pretty much written them off because they are a chain. I actually had to go here because its super close to where I live and I couldnt drive my broken car any further. They are really nice and NEVER make me feel stupid about my lack of knowledge when it comes to cars. They ALWAYS offer me ALL my options and ALWAYS lead with the least expensive option. I NEVER feel as though Im being ripped off. I have been here at least 6 times (for both major and minor stuff) and they have become my neighborhood garage. Im really grateful for this place. I had a wonderful experience here and would highly recommend their services to anyone needing auto work done.My car wouldnt start early in the morning before work, and the kind folks at Car-X were able to give me towing recommendation and get to work on my car right away.They contacted me after diagnosing the issue (dead battery) and made recommendations, then offered to take care of my routine maintenance needs (oil change, tire pressure check, fluids, etc.).They got the job done fast, were incredibly professional and kind, and even bumped my car ahead of schedule so I could get to work for a half day. Lake Street Car-X I must say there work is outstanding. I buy my own parts from Auto Zoon which I get a 10 percent discount. I pay Car-X to put the parts on because my car is on the old side. They gave me a list of things I need done. So little by little I get get done. Theyve been a big help to me and my car. Very nice people & always do a lil extra for you too with no charge. The ONLY auto shop I’ll be going to in Minneapolis. Went in without an appointment because my cars wheel had started making a strange noise. Pat offered to drive it around the block, and tell us his thoughts... but his commitment to customer service didn’t stop there. He ended up pulling another mechanic to help him, and they both spent 30 minutes looking for the problem, eventually solving it for us. After all this, they refused to charge us, telling us that knowing we were safe on the road was all the payment they needed. I have no doubt that they saved us from a terrible car accident. Forever grateful, customers for life.

Pat at the E. Lake St location was great! I called early in the week to setup the appointment and ensure that the tire was in stock. I also had a quote from another location that he said he would match.When I arrived at this location I found it to be clean, organized and bright. Pat was at the desk and ready to help. I let him know I had the appointment and provided him the quote. He got my info and told me it would take 90 min max to get the four tires installed.I was in the building and driving away with my car in 90 mins. Pat was friendly and we had a conversation for a good amount of time. I had requested to keep the old tires and he was kind enough to have the tech put the old tires in tire bags and load them in my trunk for me.Biggest thing for me is that he honored the price, had the correct tires, did not up sell me on something I did not need and talked me through the sale.I would recommend this store for someone who needs work done on their car. Ive gone to Car X a few times now since moving to the neighborhood and cant recommend them enough. Theyve done good consistent work on my Subaru and have never suggested work that doesnt need to be done. I rarely write reviews but these folks are worth it!

I took my vehicle in to investigate a coolant smell that I experienced after running over some road debris. Pat and his team provided excellent customer service and thoroughly examined the car free of charge. They didnt take advantage of me and try to make some unnecessary repairs. I decided to wait while they took a look at my flat tire and within minutes they told me it could be fixed... they put me first on the list, fixed the tire and placed it on my car within minutes! ❤️ Amazing, efficient service and really nice guys.

I took my car to Car-X when my check engine light went on, fearing it would be an expensive fix. I was able to get an appointment with only a couple hours of notice. When it turned out to be a minor fix, they didnt charge me, and they even fixed an aesthetic problem, also at no charge! Would definitely return in the future.

Great service, great location. Will definitely go there again. Service that was done was oil change + tire rotation.This is a follow up review to my original one. Unfortunately I have to revise down bc:While doing the tire rotation + oil change, I asked them specifically to check into a possible mouse house in my fan box (the car had been stored over the winter and the heater was blowing out dust, duff, and straw with a burning smell). They said that they put a camera down into the fan box and didnt see a mouse house. They diagnosed the problem as broken fan motor. I suspected that their diagnosis was incorrect and so took it to another shop. Sure enough, mouse mansion in fan box. The darn thing was chock full.Anyway, I certainly give them the benefit of the doubt that they thought their diagnosis was correct, but I have to give them 2 stars since it was incorrect and although they were very polite, I certainly believe they werent really listening to my description of the problem or taking it seriously.

Before life got too busy, I used to repair my own cars exclusively. This shop has never tried to feed me some BS to get more work. They have fixed exhaust leaks under warranty without complaints and always explain their actions to my satisfaction. I have been very insistent about their explanations and they have never taken offence from my inquiries as some other shops have. Impressive.

My women coworkers recommended Pat at CarX because he was respectful and helpful and fair. I trusted them and when my car tires were not all holding air for more than a day at a time, I headed straight there. The team there is everything my friends said. I felt cared for but not judged! So glad I have new all weather tires with all this rain!

Very friendly and honest service! I took my car in thinking I had to have my exhaust system fixed due to the sudden noise the car was making. The guys at carx fit me in even though they were very busy and checked out the noise. It turns out the oil filler cap was loose and all they had to do was tighten it. Even topped off my oil. And then they didn’t charge me at all for their time or diagnosis. Give these guys your business!

I took my car here for a front wheel alignment my dealer told me I needed. Car X ran the test and determined my car did not need alignment and charged me nothing for their efforts. I would have gladly paid for their time for doing the test. I appreciated their time and honesty.

These folks helped us when the protective panel under our car was partially knocked off in deep snow. We arrived just as they were closing. They graciously kept the car over night and removed the dangling panel in the morning - without charging us anything!

Hit a rock in the dark overnight and was concerned about damage to the underside of the vehicle. Called Car-X on Saturday morning, and despite a full schedule, Pat managed to give it a look, repair the splashguard, and didnt charge us a thing. I also love this place for oil changes. Highly recommend!

Ive used the East Lake Car-X service for some years, after trying most of the other auto shops along East Lake. Car-X always gives me an accurate estimate in advance of any work, honor their warranties, and provide complete explanations of whats working and whats a problem with my vehicle. Typically the work is completed the same day, when I arrive early morning to drop it off, with or without an appointment. Theyve gone out of their way to fix little things they notice without charging extra, and theyve never tried to upsell me something that wasnt needed. My 2000 Ford Ranger isnt the fanciest model, but its still in excellent running condition thanks to Car-X.

Pat, Bill and the crew are amazing to work with. Honest, respectful and superior customer service! I will definitely be back and will encourage others as well!

My car suddenly started making hissing noise on President day and it was hard looking for any auto repair shop to just look at it because lots of people were getting their cars fixed up. Tried to call this Car-X and they got me in right the way.Turned out that it was just a rock got stuck in and making that noise. After 5 minutes of looking at my car, they drove it to the front door without charging me anything. Just thought that it was really nice of them!

Ben (manager) and Jordan(Tech) are great guys. Ive taken my car there multiple times once for brakes, for a car window, and a hood latch.They have been able to get me in and look at my car almost right away most of the time. There was an issue with the repairs done on the window resulting in multiple visits, but Ben worked with me to fix it in a mutually agreeable way.Brought my car in today because the hood wont latch. Ben and Jordan took right into th shop and fixed it for not charge with in 15 minutes.I would recommend this shop to others.

These guys are are generous with their advice and time when they can be, and will always try to get you in ASAP. The mechanics really know what theyre doing. I recommend them unreservedly!

I had a tail light out and was driving down Lake Street to go to a different repair place when I saw the CarX sign and decided to stop in. It was 45 minutes before closing so I wasnt sure if they would be able to get it done, but they did it right away. They also noticed that the license plate light was out and asked if I wanted that replaced, too. It cost less than I had anticipated and the employees were so friendly, polite and helpful. I witnessed another customers interaction and the gentleman went above and beyond to locate a battery for her at another site, go get it, and put it in before the shop closed.

This place is all about getting the most money out of you rather than trying to provide a cost effective solution. I wanted to have my window re-mounted in my drivers door, they told me I would have to pay $45 for the diagnostic. I was fine with that until they quoted me a total bill of $560!! What happened?? I just needed the window remounted, not the entire assembly replaced.

Pat and his crew gave great service at a good price. I thought I needed brakes, but, turns out only a minor adjustment was needed. They easily could have sold me new brakes.

Not to bad! I had a exhaust repair done here, and they were willing to do a simple splice and not replace the whole thing, so saved me a good chunk of change. Im new to the area but will definately use them in the future..

I always feel like Pat offers good advice and isnt pushy. One time they did a fix for free when the issue turned out to be minor and only involved tightening some bolts. Been going here for a few years.

I only have had several oil changes here with no problems and quality customer service, but this review is really for the service my father had that went above and beyond expectations when he was in town a few weeks ago.The rear wheel on his car was making a rattling noise during braking. He took it in and the manager greeted him and began to try to fix the problem. Upon finding nothing glaring wrong with the brakes and wheel, the manager went on two separate test drives with my dad so he could hear the sound. He eventually ended up altering the discs somehow which made the noise disappear. After several hours of personal service and troubleshooting, he didnt charge my dad a penny. Ill note this was all on a Saturday afternoon!Thank you for the exceptional service and customer experience!
