Walked in and had a seat. Leslie was our waitress. She had quite a few people come in at the same time who all sat down in her section, so things kinda got off to a slow start. She was very friendly and funny though, I might add.I ordered the Loaded Tots, which is the first picture. Tater tots smothered in chili, with cheese, sour cream and chives. This was very good! Chili is a little on the spicy side, but tolerable. I could only eat half of it before I was stuffed!The second picture is of my daughters Meatloaf dinner. The meatloaf was sitting in a layer of chili. It was served with mashed potatoes and asparagus. Watching my daughter take her first bite and seeing the reaction in her face, I knew something wasnt right. She said the meatloaf was cold on the inside and very crunchy on the outside. It did look a little overdone, however, she ate it.My girlfriend got the schnitzel sandwich, which is basically a breaded tenderloin, and French fries. She said it was amazing and had good flavor. She said it had some gristle in it but that it wasnt bad. At one point, when Leslie went to get us to-go containers, the other waitress, Jen, stopped and asked us if we needed anything.After paying and getting ready to leave, my daughter and myself wanted a hand dipped chocolate milkshake, which Jen made for us. The shakes are absolutely amazing!I give it 4 out of 5 stars, knocking off a point for the bad meatloaf. But everyone there was very friendly and talked to you as if you were family and had known you all of their lives. We will definitely be back again!

We were impressed with the food. So good. Service was awesome also.

The food isnt bad but there doesnt seem to be much consistency from the kitchen. Went in 2 different days, a day apart, got the same meal and it was cooked completely differently. First visit my over easy eggs were medium and my biscuit had been split open and grilled on the inside. Next visit my eggs were cooked correctly but the biscuit hadnt been cut and they had grilled the outside of it. Only 2 kids menu items and not a very large selection for breakfast items. Prices arent bad but would not recommend.

Great Experience, I had the Country Fried Steak and my wife had Vegetable Soup with grilled cheese sandwich. It was excellent, Staff was friendly and very helpful. My wife got Hot Cocoa Shake and said she loved it. This was the first time we came here but it will not be our last. Hard to find a Dinner of this quality now days.

The prices are very reasonable and the food is made well. The place always feels clean and well cared for. Though atmosphere is a little sparse, the staff is where this place really shines. They seem to really care, and want you to enjoy your visit. Eat here once and theyll make you feel like family. Definitely worth a try for a classic Americana diner experience.

Today was our first time dining there since the remodeling and it was really nice! The new decor was much improved as well the atmosphere. The hand-painted mural on the backwall was well done and interesting.Our server was friendly and prompt as well attentive to our dining needs.I had a BLT that was great which came with a choice side besides fries. I would definitely recommend this diner!

Great atmosphere, but would have liked soft music playing. Vegetarian skillet was delicious, but a bit greasy, and better quality of sausage patties. Would prefer regular chocolate milk instead of Nestles Quick. Other than that looks great and we are satisfied.

I feel theyve lost what made it the Retro Cafe when they got rid of the pictures of Sinatra Elvis Presley Johnny Cash James Dean Marilyn Monroe these are all the things you think of when you think of something retro. I just feel they lost their soul

I visited this place when they had the old menu. The prices were good, and the food was always good as well. They should have kept it the way it was. The prices are higher now, however, everything is cooked fresh. I havent tried it yet tho, because they were literally out of food when I went.

They have taken away from the restaurant since the remodel. Like it better before. Put the old pictures back. And more on the menu. The wife and I both had the county fried steak. Made us have the craps a hour after eating it. Dont recommend it.

I had seen the Restaurant Impossible episode where this restaurant was featured, so I was curious to check it out when I was visiting Muncie. Both the food and service were excellent. I had one of the scrambles, and I could immediately tell that every ingredient had been freshly prepared. I look forward to a return visit the next time I am in town!

The best place to get breakfast in town. Very layed back, comfortable, and clean restaurant. Jessica is a great waitress! They have daily homemade specials to please any pallet. Also homemade desserts 👍😁

Really pleased to find this place and pleasantly surprised by the experience. The decor was themed to a retro diner but the food was more varied. We had pulled pork and a burger, fries, and sweet tea and really enjoyed it all. The prices are great and so was the service. I always like to find local places and hope to make my way back.

This place has a nice homey atmosphere. Since the remodel and revamped menu the food is outstanding. Customer service has improved.

Disappointed. We spent $45 on a family of four and none of us could finish our meals because the food was not good. Chili is clearly from a can, the fries are from a box, the schnitzel is nothing more than a tenderloin. The shrimp sandwich was over cooked, the country fried steak was inedible. The “meat” was fatty, tough and zero flavor. The one thing all our meals had in common besides yuckiness was they were all cooked in the same oil. The same oil that tasted as if it hasn’t been changed in a really long time. Do not waste your time or your money.

Very pricey and cheaper quality then Dennys. Plus side was Great customer service and food like you made it at home. They had thick ranch, thin bacon, omelettes, and spaghetti. My ham and cheese was not worth the money. It was cooked perfect, bread was golden brown, but it was 1 piece of cheap American cheese and one layer of ham. Definitely would avoid the non breakfast items based off my experience. Spaghetti and omelettes were loved in my group. My group said fried steak was delicious from their prior visits.

Good atmosphere. Great food. The only reason it isnt 5 stars for me, is because the past two times Ive been, they were out of stock of chicken, and soup. I havent been in two months but have heard they are attempting and little by little succeeding on fixing this problem. Everyone is so very friendly and pleasent. Love!

It is not gourmet or fancy but it is very good old fashioned home cooking. The place is not fancy but clean with old booths and tables. It has pictures and advertising reminiscent of the 50s. Sometimes they play music from the 50s - 60s. The staff friendly. Breakfast is always available and good. The prices are moderate, $5 - $9 for most meals.

Highly recommended. First off, very fast service! My food was on my table not even 5 minutes after ordering! The food was hot & outstanding! Great portion as well very hardy serving! As well as good prices. The waitresses were very polite & checked in often! A nice peaceful environment & most importantly clean! I recommend this restaurant highly! I had their veggie skillet tonight and it was so good! Ive always had really good service, but when the parking lot is full, I dont stop. This is one of my favorite places because of the friendly wait staff and good food with reasonable prices.Retros a place I can take my grandson. He gets to choose a coloring book or workbook and I get to relax! If youre looking for a fancy place, go somewhere else. This place is not pretentious. I noticed tonight that theyre starting to be open 24/7 on weekend, too.

The food is fantastic, the service is better than best, and the camaraderie, the clientele, the atmosphere of friendliness would and should make it even better than the five stars this establishment richly deserves! And the prices are extremely affordable!

Sparse. The menu didnt have a lot of choises. The look was retro, but there wasnt much to it. The food portion was certainly plenty but the chilli didnt have much flavor and the Texas toast used for the grill cheese was too much for the amount of cheese. The hamburgers were fine.

Restaurant Impossible FAIL! Gave it a shot & got a moldy roll & my friend had egg shell all throughout her beef & noodles. Manager had the gull to say well theyre homemade noodles, eggshells happen! Ummm no! Wont be back

Not from there, just popped in on a drive by------excellent! The bacon eggs and biscuits & gravy as good as it gets. The waitress never let my coffee get less than half full.In and out in 20 minutes.Great job keep it up!

Advertising says breakfast all day. Apparently they stopped at 1030, cause I arrived at 1035 and got a lunch menu. Ordered a sweet tea and they brought it with no ice and tea was warm. Sat there for like 5 minutes before someone even came to table. Took a few minutes to bring me my drink, then asked what I would like. I didnt even have a menu. Terrible service.

Btl club was excellent.. never disappointed.

Amount of serving you get is worth the price, good home cooked meal.

A work in progress....an hour and 15 mins to get our food. We were surrounded by family, if not we probably wouldve left. To many excuses and not enough action. Place looked better after restaurant impossible but organization and serving needs some attention. A smile and thank yous go a long way😊

It was 9am on a wensday morning and there werent many people there. As soon as we sat down a waitress appeared with a friendly smile and went to get out drinks. Our food came out hot and quick. It was very good. Retro covers all the meals. Great home cooked meals with good prices.

I used to like the quick service and daily specials. Today I waited for an hour to get my food ordered off the special board. My chicken was frozen in middle and my Mac and cheese was cold. I thought they cooked fresh, but obviously they reheated something frozen. After waiting that long, my granddaughter got over tired so I had to take her to the car instead if eating. My husband asked for a to go box and left as well. No one offered him silverware or drinks to go. I called to complain, but they were just so busy and my husband should have asked for to go cups. I was a regular meeting their with groups of 10 or more. We will no longer go there.

First of all 3.24 for (1) glass of iced tea is ridiculous. Online menu says 1.49. Others got waited on that came in after we did. Restaurant was good before Hollywood came in and changed things. Breakfast all day doesnt exist. Menu stinks. Never going back. Got up and left.

Service was great food is ok if you dont want to cook hashbrowns werent done got a couple of bites of raw potatoes they use 0 seasoning on any of the food biscuit was cold dry and overcooked

We were greeted with an intense smell of vomit when we walked in the door. You know that smell when back in elementary school when a kid puked and the janitor threw some sawdust on it but the scent lingered all day? Thats what this was like. We tried to stick it out, but the menu just wasnt compelling enough.

I here this place was on Resturant impossible. The showa not realeased yet but its clear that the ownership needs to change there mental process. Positives... location and appearance. I like the bar seating and the clean look and feel of the tables. I ordered the mushroom and swiss which tasyed good but they had it on a cheep bun that crumbled when you handled the burger. Then they subbed fried pickles on the side but gave me only a few.... but the proble i think is that they didnt up charge for the pickles so to meet costs they shorted me on the quantity. No dipping sauce offered with the pickles. And they should improve the pickle batter... Yes its an economical place to eat but i think if their focus was more on quality they could charge just a bit more to make the experience better.
