Literally never even been here, but I’m just laughing at some of the, ahem, more interesting customers these guys have dealt with, based on the “bad reviews” and the amazing way they reply to every bad review, properly explaining the story. Somehow they have remembered each customer and situation down to the fine detail, and it’s thoroughly entertaining, and shows a commitment to their customers. I am a computer science student at HGTC who is graduating this semester, and would not mind working here myself! I had to take a device in to have fixed and when I brought it in they was honest that it was working fine and only need a new cord for a couple dollars! Thankful for an honest company. You can trust these guys to be fair,
These people have done such a great job on our computers, we brought in some that were well... BROKEN! i didnt know what they could do; these towers were from a school, with everything they did to these computers i couldnt thank them enough! they did an awesome job on these machines.theyre running great and i will continue to do business with these good people.
I needed some memory (PC2700) to upgrade a few computers of my own and decided to check out the shop. They didnt have any new memory, which is surprising given they supposedly do upgrades with new parts. Kevin went and grabbed a box of used memory. He handled the memory very poorly and dropped 2 sticks and even stepped on 1. I asked if he knew if the sticks were in working condition and said he wasnt sure. He offered to sell me a used stick of 512MB memory, in an unknown condition, for $20. I offered $10 and he declined. I know computers and prices ... so I opted to purchase a brand new stick 1GB, in working condition, with a warranty for $29 online.Bottom line. 1) They use old/used parts for upgrades and likely claim the parts are new. 2) Do you research and buy online. 3) The Cheap Geek ... is cheap, you get what you pay for.
I saw a lot good reviews about them,they treat you nice.But at least for my they didnt fixed my computer,he told he will fix with 5 days I called after 1.5 week and nothing,after almost 3 weeks I called again and nothing I told them to cancel my service.He even told me would take 1 more week.When I went to pick up,theyre said was to busy...Didnt worked for me...
These guys are awesome! The service quality was top notch and a lot faster than expected. The price is fair as well. I would recommend these guys to anyone.
No signal on monitor. Took computer to Cheap Geeks, they had it up and runninngin 10 minutes. They checked everything out and I was out of there in 20 minutes.Very reasonable charge. Happy customer!
I brought my laptop in to get the fan fixed. I picked it up, it was scuffed up and the left click button doesnt work properly. It works sometimes and you have to press hard on it. When I went back to complain the guy at the desk, Kevin, first tried to say that it wasnt their fault; Then that the button works perfectly. What kind of button that works perfectly only sometimes works?
An employee sold me a computer and said it would have no problem running games and editing videos. Well, when I got home, the first thing it did was blue screen and crash. Not only that, the DVD drive was broken, the free mouse he kindly gave me was broken, and the computer couldnt run any of my programs. When I brought it back, they wouldnt value the 30-day warranty. They said I must have broken it.They are crooks, and I would advise against doing business with them if you dont want to get ripped off.
Took my kids malware filled net-books to The Cheap Geek because I was told it is the best place for Myrtle Beach computer repair and I was not disappointed.Also bought a refurbd tower while I was there and had them install more RAM (installed in 5 mins while I waited).Great service and awesome products. The cheap geek thoroughly diagnosed my problem and, instead of selling me some half-fix, told me the truth -- the computer was done for. He even offered $$ for parts and was able to get all my stuff off the old hard drive. I think hes honest, reasonable and proficient.John GreubelN. Myrtle Bch
The Cheap Geek guys, Frank and Kevin have helped me out on several computer repair issues. I repair computers on the side to generate some income since I am unable to work due to health issues.Now with computers, everyone runs into something they havent done yet and so do I. Anytime I have come across one of those such issues with a laptop or PC, I have been able to consult with Frank and Kevin and they would kid that they were helping their competition but they would be very helpful to me by giving me advice and or instruction. Sometimes I realize that I am unable to handle certain issues and I know it so I dont lie to my people about it. I simply refer them to Frank and Kevin or I ask them if they want me to have Frank look at their laptop.I have sent a few folks their to buy a new or used computer because I have researched their pricing and they are about the only ones I know that are giving accurate comparable price quotes. If Kevin tells you that he is selling one for 800 less then average cost new then you can bet he is.Kevin can sometimes come across as a little brass if he hasnt had his coffee (LOL) but he has a heart as big as gold and will do anything he can for you. They are not money hungry, they are here in the community for the long haul and reputation is important to them.I have know Frank for longer than Kevin and He cant say no to somebody in need. Good guy. I hope he stays that way.I have had a few personal friends that I have sent there because of the difficulty of their laptop issues and in some cases it is hopeless, however Frank still took the machine apart and put it back together 4 times without increasing the price that I had been quoted.Honestly folks, you have no idea how much work goes into taking a laptop apart much less putting it back together. If you have not experienced the feeling you get when you boot one up after just getting it back together and there is a problem, then you just dont know. It is kind of like taking your car to a reputable dealer for repairs and they repair it for you and then you find out that it is doing the same thing or something else. YUK. No fun.Well I guess I have tooted their horn for long enough. In the long run, I guess, It they cant fix it, I sure cant.Thanks Frank and KevinJeff Kaifos

I am shocked at the two bad reviews I just read!!! Those bad remarks should be put on Best Buy! I took my Asus in to Kevin & Frank on a Friends advice. And I am verysatisfied with everything. I needed a new keyboard...Kevin had to order it 3 different time before we got one that worked. Poor Frank had to take my laptop apart each time and put it back together. Again not their fault but they worked with it. They even got a loaner for me because I use my pc in my work place. I must say, I was getting fustrated with the company we were having to order the part from but definitely not Cheap Geek. As far as the did not try to help or the you pay for what you get statements I DID NOT experience that at all. I paid a very reasonal price for the service I received. The actual part was the expensive part over $100 just for it alone. Maybe if those two had gone in for help and not something for nothing attitude it would have been a good experience and they would have gotten the help they needed. I would and will got there for help again! Thanks so much guys !!
PEOPLE, THERE IS A REASON WHY THIS PLACE IS CHEAPWORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!I WILL NEVER BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS PLACE EVER AGAIN!Just walked out of the cheep geek..... they ripped me off. I bought an ACER Aspire timeline X about a week and a half ago. I took the computer back due to constant crashing. The man I talked to, I believe his name was kevin, was un-willing to work with me, he was downright rude and a complete A-Hole. When I bought this computer he assured me that this was the computer that I needed for my work purposes. He also assured me that if I had any problems with it, to bring it right back and he would take care of it. I brought it to him and he didnt even attempt to look at it, knowing this is my buisness computer and I am un-able to work with out it.... He pretty much told me that there was nothing he could do except run a DVD all night just to see if it was crashing. (I CONTACTED HIM TWICE, BEFORE I BROUGHT IT IN, TO TELL HIM THAT IT WAS CRASHING) He acted like I was lying about the issues. I asked him to trade it in since it wasnt doing the job, he said no. I asked him to give me a loaner with around the same specs, he said no he offered a 140 dollar DELL, I asked him the reasoning why? His answer.. a simple and rude answer because I wont he said.... in the long run, I bought a malfuntioning computer (that doesnt do the job that I was told my this man that it would do) and now I have to spend my time and money to go to a capable person to get this computer fixed. Mind you, I bought this computer with a 60 day warranty. I Just wanna say Thank You cheap geek. For ripping me off. People there is a reason why this place is cheap.

Worst buying experience I can remember.From the attitude of owner at the pointof sale, to the almost hostal treatmentafter the sale customer service request.Have never written a review before wasmoved to write this one.
The worst computer store I have ever felt with. Was suppose to clean my computer because it was running slow. Got it back after 2 weeks, charged for it, then nothing was done it was running the same. After I installed their protection program they sold me and restarted my computer, it erased my operating system... Never go here.....
I felt like I was gonna be robbed at gunpoint ...... by the owner/operator!!!!! Very shifty looking place... instincts told me to get out of there.
