Beautiful shop and smells delicious upon walking in. Great sandwiches, charcuterie options and meats. The beef sticks however smelled like dog food and were so dry and/or old that they crumbled to dust basically. Would love to enjoy a fresh one!

Tuck away behind Oxbow Market is a charcuterie that has fresh made meats, spreads, and other delicious treats for the meat lover. I bought duck confit, basque style pork coil, some prosciutto. All three were a total of $29.00 usd. There were so many items i wantes to try. I will definitely come back through on my next visit. Staff were friendly and helpful as well as adhering to recomended COVID-19 Guidelines and only allowing a few customers in the smaller space.

Honestly I like this place a lot, and send people here a lot, even though their prices are on the high end. I get it its a small independent butcher. I love recommending this place however the past few times Ive walked in there I walked right out because I felt shamed the way I wore my mask. I work in hospitality and am I always with a mask and know how to be mindful of others, as well as gently asking guests to have their masks on; I make it a point to adjust my mask aptly when entering an establishment . I donned a freshly washed mask which had shrunk since I last washed it, hands in my pockets I walked in, & was greeted promptly. I returned the salutation which made my mask slip off my nose, my hands were stuck in my pockets and right away as if getting joy from correcting me, I was promptly and gruffly told to put my mask on correctly. This has happened twice now, I walked right out. Try to be nice is all Im saying. I literally just said hello and my masked moved, I guess its my fault I shouldve been more mindful. I literally took this picture right before entering and adjusting my mask, because it was cute!Keep yer masks on right!

Their picnic plate was a quick and convenient option to pair with a glass of red. It included cornichons, pate, two salumi and bread.

First and foremost I love this place. Thats why I sill rate this place 3 stars. I love their jerky so I was dumbfounded when I recently bought 2 bags of their sealed beef jerky and and two days later there is standing mold on most of the pieces. One of them has areas that have hardened brown caps. Everything I have ever gotten here has been of the best quality so I didnt think much about not looking at the jerky before I ate half of the two bags no wonder I have this stomach issues at the moment. Im not sure how well these will come across but I attached some photos.As of right now Im disgusted but that doesnt mean Im never coming back, this place is way too good to abandon.S.Wells

One of our favorite places to grab a picnic lunch. Dont forget to go next door for a baguette from Model Bakery! Even after eating at many Michelin starred restaurants in Napa and the Bay Area, this is still one of our favorite ways to get a meal in Napa.

High quality cured, dried and fresh meat products with knowledgeable recommendations from staff if youre undecided. The specialty items theyve got lining the walls are top notch as well and one of the few vendors that carries a number of animal fats in bulk. Makes me giddy walking in everytime! Definitely try the liverwurst

Spectacular meat and high quality provisions plus sandwiches

The andouille sausage is amazing. I have yet to try the rest of the things I bought. The staff was really friendly and were very conscious of social distancing. Love it!

The sandwiches we got here were exceptionally delicious. I highly recommend stopping by for your deli needs. They seemed to have lots of local gifts as well. Everyone working the counter was efficient and polite. I will definitely be back when Im in the area.

Love the rare roast beef and arugula salad. The meat is so tender, with a drizzle of balsamic and a little sea salt, it delicious! The cured meats are great and they also have a great butcher shop here as well. Staff is super friendly every time Ive been here.

I love this place. Everything is fantastic quality, fresh and beautifully prepared. The charcuterie and meats are spectacular—but don’t skip out on the prepared foods—the salads and sandwiches are really wonderful. The service is friendly & knowledgeable. 5 members of my family got sick from a Christmas pork that we bought from this restaurant. I had to go to urgent care because of my pregnancy which was extremely distressing. I had to change my flight to come home early to visit my doctors, rest and recover. My brother and his family also had to change their international travel plans because of illness. We all had to cancel our out of town trip.We are very upset and disappointed about a ruined Christmas.They let the insurance take care of denying the claim and not even at least refund the purchase. We shouldve sent them the left over food the next day if they kept in denial.

What is there to be said about these venerable purveyors of tasty pork and meaty goodness other than... They are the absolute best! Superior quality, excellent selection and a staff that makes dropping by a pleasure. The charcuterie is out of this world and the accoutrements not in the cold case are top notch. The best!

Unfortunately I cannot remember/did not get the name of the young lady who assisted us, but she was working on 9/11 when we stopped in. She was amazing, so dedicated to us and our taste buds with samples and finding the right fit of meats for us. We got various cuts of meat, olives, giardiniera (pickled vegetables), and some awesome sandwiches. If were ever back in Napa, well be going back there nonstop again and honestly thats because of the customer service first and then secondly, the products being great. Keep up the great work!

Great selection of prime meat

The people at the fatted calf really know what theyre doing and are more than happy to tell you all about their different cured and uncured meats. Their salami is fantastic and their marinades are always amazing. Theyll provide cooking instructions and always have personal experiences of what has worked best for them. Its always a treat to go in and browse the case and chat. A true Napa gem

You can see many different types of smoked, cured, dry aged pork, good selection of ham, salami, sausage, etc,. in a very small charcuterie. Please bring your recipe to get ready to cook with amazing pork.

This review is specifically about the salumi class. First off, the class is expensive. However, the overall structure, duration, quality of instruction, quality of ingredients, basically everything about the class justifies the cost. I will happily take additional classes at The Fatted Calf because they are well worth it!The salumi class was a mixture of hands-on and observation learning. Taylor ran the class and was superb (he is also the author of the charcuterie book). The remainder of the staff was engaged and knowledgeable. The salumi class gives you the skill and knowledge to get started making your own salumi safely at home and it sends you home with some tasty meaty treats you made during the class.The downside to this class is it will motivate you to rush out and buy a meat grinder and sausage stuffer if you dont already own that equipment.Stop thinking about it and sign up for this class!

I love love love fatted calf! great service, great selection, delicious charcuterie!It can be kind of slow because they slice the meat by order. However, you can bet that whatever youre getting is high quality. I usually stop by here, as well as the cheese vendor inside the market so that I can make my own little picnic plate to go with all the wine that we drink during the trip.p.s. dont forget to pick up a bottle of the mustard seed and some pickles!

Tucked away on the west side of the Public Market, we stopped for a late lunch in between wine tastings. On a lovely sunny afternoon, we were offered multiple sandwiches and decided on their roasted pork sandwich on focaccia and my wife got the special meatball sandwich. Both were very tasty and hit the spot. They also offered us a taste of the their stuffed pork and sliced off some for everyone. The stuffed pork was reason enough to come back.For a light lunch, or in need of some charcuterie, this is a good place to stop in Napa.
