Had a wonderful time at their class. Very fun & educational!
Took a sushi making class with my mom. Karla was a great teacher! She took the time to explain everything and answered all of our questions as we went along. Overall it was a very fun, unique, and engaging experience!
Unfortunately disappointed with the quality of the cooking class we took here. While we love the concept of the class we took on cooking different foods with craft beer, we did not find the class very engaging and felt like we spent more time watching someone cook than cooking ourselves. It felt like the chef was reading the recipe for the first time, and multiple mistakes were made with the cooking instructions over the course of the class (which sadly created visible tension between the chef and sous chef). To top it off, the Naperville location does not allow you to take home any leftovers, which resulted in a ton of food going to waste. Recipe sizes should definitely be decreased to avoid so much waste.
Merchant refused to cancel the order despite the fact that they dont have it in stock. Outsourced customer service representative explained that supposedly they do stock the item but they cant ship it for 7 business days. No American CSR was available to talk to. Manager wasnt available either. It was a time sensitive purchase, hence a seven day processing is unacceptable in my case.Nowhere on their website it says that it will take seven business days to process it!Very poor shopping experience. Avoid if you can!
Signed up for an online cooking but I woke up feeling ill. I talked to a representative to explain the situation and no refund was given or a store credit. I paid $50 for a class that I was no longer able to attend. Their website advertises that the cancellation policy has been modified due to COVID but this didn’t seem to be the case...I was happy to reschedule for another cooking class but they will not be getting my service any longer. Disappointing. You think they would be more understanding given the circumstances this year has brought. What a scam!!!!
Good selection of cooking tools but a bit over priced
Last weekend 4 friends and I took the pasta cooking class. I had taken a couple years ago and loved it ( I convinced my friends to do this) but now the class is overcrowded and you get rushed out so the next class can begin immediately after. We only made 2 of the three dishes advertised; as the chef threw 4 pre-prepared things together in front of us in two minutes and that counted as us cooking a dish. In the past, each person prepared the dishes but now you work with a partner and only do half the cooking. The helpers so vigorously cleaned up that the clanging made it hard to hear the chef. When we gathered around to observe something, I could not see over the 3 people standing in front of me.I wrote customer service and got a one sentence automated response. I was extremely disappointed! Especially now that there are so many great options for cooking classes.UPDATE: Sur La Table contacted almost immediately after this review and did everything possible to make my next experience great. Amy Garza the Resident Chef was so kind and I was gifted another class which I took advantage of and loved. I was also credited for the class that I had commented on. Thank you Sur La Table! I will continue to be a loyal customer and sing your praises.
This location almost always presents a laidback shopping experience with a variety of cooking tools. While Sur La Table does carry some of the most expensive and high-quality cooking equipment out there, they also carry other options that can fit almost any budget. Sur La Table is my go-to cooking store, whether I have a specific need or just want to browse new inventory. Bonus points if you shop during a cooking class, as the whole store smells like whatever delicious food their making!
What a great place. We made enchiladas. You get to eat everything you make. Very clean, classy and fun!
I really enjoyed the cooking class this evening and the amazing staff! It was truly an enjoyable girls night out . I learned a lot, had a delicious meal and bought some cool new tools. Highly recommend the Naperville location.
I agree with an earlier review that said it can be hit or miss in terms of help in this store. However, I had a really excellent experience buying a new espresso/cappucino machine in this store last week. The saleswoman was SO nice and so helpful. First, I never realized the machines are set up in there to be tested in the store. You can make espresso in each one to see which machine you like working with the best. So by the time I made my purchase, I felt really confident in my choice. And since Ive gotten home, Ive been really happy with the machine--my last machine was a La Pavoni and I thought it was the best because it was Italian, but my new machine, a Breville, makes a far richer, better drink (same beans, superior result). Overall, a great learning and buying experience.
Wow!!! What an embarrassing experience! I spoke so highly of the store and took my mother to enjoy a great shopping adventure . The staff was the most unfriendly and the management was unbelievable. Im an employee at a different location (maybe not for long)! And it was a disgrace.
I had a brunch class with the Chef Rachel Dau, and I loved it. I signed up for another class with her. She clearly knows what shes doing, she makes the class fun, and you can tell shes passionate about food. I loved it!!
Wow this store has everything your could ever possibly want or need for your gourment kitchen. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Coffee and popcorn samples available. Additionally offered are several onsite cooking classes, who h really look like so much fun.
Expensive, but quality materials. They have great classes and the people are so helpful! I called hoping to put an item on hold and they put together my whole list for me and held it for pickup.
Love this place, service is hit and miss though at this location. I got knives sharpened last week and they did a great job and got me out the door in ten minutes. My go-to place for kitchen items!
Cooking classes at Sur La Table are great! The chefs are well trained and the staff are exceptionally helpful.
The manager is absolutely excellent and is fabulous at customer service and is extremely knowledgeable! She wowed me and Sur La Table will be my first stop for kitchen essentials and gift giving for all of my foodie friends!!
A great selection, but the staff here is really great. Very friendly, incredibly knowledgeable, and exceptionally helpful.
Loved the cooking class! Thank you chef Fred!
Pricey but high-quality. The workers here can be a bit snappy.
Terrible service, took a knife to get sharpened, store clerks started sharpening then just left to go flit around the store without any explanation. Wasted an hour of my life.
The lady who was watching the coffee machine area was rude and condescending. Im not sure what her issue was, but certainly it turned me off from wanting to ever spend money at this place.
Had so much fun at the cooking class!!!
The cookware and baking supplies are fairly expensive here but if youre looking for something a bit out of the ordinary this is the place to go. They also sell some Guittard baking chips here which is incredibly hard to find anywhere else but at a specialty store.
Nice place
