I am honored to have had technicians Michael, Tom and Todd come to my home on different days. To restart my old furnace heating system(until the arrival of a new furnace), and to install a brand new furnace. They were professionals and superbly knowledgeable! I have had this service for years, but within the last 3 months it has been a joke. No one answers the phone, they hang up on your calls. dont know what happened, but I am going to have to go somewhere else. This is beyond frustration. If you need more reps, then stop being cheap and hire them.
Waited 60 minutes for someone to answer. First repair service refused to come out the second never showed. Called several times and wait times were 96 minutes. I actually tried waiting and no luck. Then called and requested call back - three times. Finally got a call back and cancelled all our maintenance plans with them. Not savings any money if no ever shows up to fix the problem. They used to be good but in the last year service is horrible! Would give zero stars but the system wouldnt let me.

Best money ever spent. I have been using Nicor Home Services since...forever. I have always had a positive experience with every maintenance service vendor they have provided for me. I know I will get top of the line, professional service and no surprise bills. I tell all my friends to use it. I never freak out when something breaks... and it will.
Every year Nicor home solutions gets a little worse. I’m on day 3 of trying to call in for a toilet repair. I’ve called at different times, each time on hold waiting to speak to anyone for over 45 min and I end up hanging up cuz well, I work and have a life. I can’t sit on hold all day. I’ve filled out the online form with no response. I’ve pressed the option for a return call- no return call. The automated system doesn’t even give an estimate of time- BLANK minutes to wait. I’ve been a customer for over 10 years but will be looking into alternate service plans - this is a joke.
Awful customer service!!! Weve purchased this service for many yearsand the last couple of days weve been on hold for over an hour and a half!! We had to hang up because we had to go to work. We are trying to speak to someone regarding furnace issues.Still as of now, day #3 Im on hold for over an hour, trying to reach a representative! Will NOT be renewing this service plan!!If your furnace went out in cold temperatures would you just wait on hold for days to get help? They collect your money RIGHT ON TIME however when you reach out for a service you pay for noone is available!ZERO STARS!
I had recommended plumber come out check my water heater. Received information from him concerning replacement cost, removal of current and possible leasing option available. Have not made a decision. The price seems to be a bite high for a new one supplied by this company. Still checking around.
The absolute wosrt customer service I have ever experianced, it is beyond frustrating.Trying to schedule a simple furnace maintenance is impossible, No one answers the phone you are placed on neverending hold.I tried to use their auto call back system, never recived a return call.Tried using their chat option, was told that I could not book an appoitment due to technical issues.Tried using the text option, was advised that I could not book an appoitment due to technical issues.This has been going on for several weeks. Im done.I have been a loyal customer for many years but will canceling my service contracts, I would not recommend this service to anyone.
I have been a long term customer of Nicor home solutions. This is the second year in a row, that because of the ( contracted ) nature of the work, provided, and the extreme impersonal service person at the call center, I no longer have peace of mind. My homes equipment is worth more to me than warrentng a a simple ( glance) and. (walk around) as indicated by dispatch and relayedby the phone operater regarding my hot water heater. Safety is my primary concern as I am currently doing a Doctoral thesis study overseas. In past years Nicor services has been for me a highly recommendable service. Family and an extended circle of friends have felt a strong bond with the Nicor family.. However, these recent events now leave this relationship in doubt. Any service provider at all can satisfactorily carry out simple requests and do a proper inspection without adverse excuse making. I have been trying for 2 days now to have a toilet fixed in our house so plumbing needs. Between the 2 days I have been on hold for over 2hrs nobody answered. They do not have enough representatives answering the phone.
I have signed up after a long break few months ago. As my home is aging, better to get some protection for appliances, plumbing etc. I have used the service like 3 times in 3 months and each time prompt response and sent good repair technicians. Professional courteous service at good price.
So far Ive used Nicor Services for getting my furnace checked/repaired, getting a new washing machine(2-3 years ago), and getting a new water heater installation(March 2021). The technicians for all of these services were professional, timely, and informative. For my replacement washing machine and water heater I received $400 from Nicor Services to assist with the purchase of the new units. That was a huge help! Signing up for Nicor Services has basically been the equivalent of creating a home services piggy bank. I would highly recommend.
We had a scheduled repair for our inhouse jacuzzi bath tub. The service rep came out and said it wasnt covered by our maintenance agreement and left. We have the deluxe maintenance agreement and the tub is part of the house, so is this possible? Why did they not inform us when we called?!! I immediately called Nicor Solutions and the wait was 24 minutes. 21 minutes later, someone picked up the phone and said something that I did not hear. I asked if they could hear me but they stayed silent. Now...I could hear someone on the other line but they remained silent. I continued to say hello...I can hear you on the line, however to no avail. After 4 or 5 minutes, they had the audacity to connect me to the survey. So, I gave them a 1. We have been with Nicor Home Solutions for over 20 years and the level of service that they once provided is not the same. This is not acceptable and should be monitored.
Great services. I have been using them for over 8 years and service levels have definitely improved. Its much easier to contact them via. the online chat when its available during their normal business hours. I have noticed that support operators are very well trained in what they do and are very polite. Keep up the good work.
The service techs are great ! Very professional and knowledgeable !!!However, trying to get in touch Nicor Home Solutions to get the service has been a nightmare. Then once you finally make contact .... the date to have the service performed is weeks to over a month out. They appear not to want to have the staff for the volume of business they have !
Our AC wasn’t working. NICOR solutions got a tech out quickly so we didn’t sweat too long. Great guy. Explained everything and gave helpful hints so it wouldn’t happen again.

Have them for home warranty, could not repair my dryer, so I had to purchase a new one. Been waiting on my reimbursement which when I was able to get in contact with someone said that I could expect a check within 6 to 8 weeks, that was 11 weeks ago and I still cant get anyone and when I do they keep saying the same thing. Cantt get anyone, customer service reps read scripts, deplorable service oh and still waiting on my reimbursement......
Do not buy the home warranty they offer. I signed long time ago to cover my Furnace,AC and water heater. What a wasted money.
I have used their heating ac and complete home care solutions for more than 10 years. Have many problems, including long time on hold and then they is very long delay from the time of the claims filed to repairs; which occurs in parts. Their techs do not carry parts so it takes many days or even weeks for them to get the part then schedule repairs. One many times we had to heat our home or office in dead of the winter with alternate heating but the company did not care at all. Many phone calls did not expedite the service any bit. They seem to be a monopoly. And frequently consumers only find out the fine print in the repair details at the time of repair, that such and such is not covered. They have very strict monitory limits on the repairs. My over all rating for them is less then less than one star; based on more than 10 years of use.
Experienced difficulty with Nicor Home Solutions!Most people we dealt with were disinterested in providing service, not good at communicating, and not good at their job. We waited a very long time to be reimbursed for our new furnace and had to resubmit paperwork and speak with mostly curt people several times.We did finally get reimbursed, but as warned by the excellent contractor that installed the new furnace, beware of Nicor and their curt people.Nicor needs to do some retraining of their employees regarding attitudeand service to a customer, unless their corporate position is to avoidreimbursement and to be difficult to do business with them.
We needed the toilet repositioned and Steve and George were on time and professional and efficient. Steve was able to do the job in a short time and cleaned up the area really well. The were with Centerguard Plumbing and I would recommend them highly.
I love Nicor Home Solutions and have recommended them to several homeowners in my area. Theyre awesome! Very professional techs and prompt service! My issues (furnace) are most often resolved on the same day and never more than 24 hours from the time I report a problem. I now have their heating plan, inside plumbing out outside sewer maintenance plans. Ive never had to pay one cent more than my nominal monthly maintenance fee - and this includes installation of two inducers/blowers on my 20-year-old Rheem furnace. NHS is worth every penny I pay each month!
I’ve had this service off and on for years. The last few service calls have been terrible. First incident: I had a convention overhead microwave that stopped working. The repairman came looked at it said that he’d have to take it to his shop to see what was wrong with it. He deemed it unrepairable. I bought a new one sent the paperwork in twice never got reimbursed.Second incident: The water/ice dispenser wasn’t working. Repairman came looked at it said I needed a part that needed to be ordered. This was during the beginning of COVID-19 so it was going to take a little longer. About a week later it started working again. The repairman called said he had the parts and it cost over 500.00. I told him my refrigerator is working now. A year later no problem with the refrigerator.Third incident: This April 2020 my LG washer was making a noise and not working. A service person came out. He looked at it, said oh it’s not sitting level that’s the problem. I told him I had moved it and didn’t put it back in the same spot. He stayed doing something on his phone. He messed with his phone about 10 minutes I thought he was looking up parts. He was here about 30 minutes and then told me he doesn’t work or LG’s. The name is in plan view on the front of the washing machine.Fourth incident: I called, they sent a different service repair company. The same one that deemed the microwave. She comes, she checks it out, I told her it might be the bearings. She says that’s exactly what it is. I’ve never done this before she says. I go upstairs, come back she’s packing up to go. She says there’s rust underneath so doesn’t make sense to fix it so I have to deem it. Mind you I paid 2000. for the set in 2013.I called a service in Midlothian he came out. He checked it said it was not the bearings, that it was a sensor. The part cost 8.99 on Amazon. He ordered it through his company so I could get it the next day, which cost more but my machine is fixed and still working!So because of these incidents I’m done with Nicor solutions.You put that 80.00 in the bank every month, you’ll have the money to pay for repair.There’s always YouTube.They like to deem it anyway.
There were a couple times when I was having problems getting my appointment scheduled because of missed communication on the customee service team. But looks like its getting better; since Ive spoken with one of the supervisors there at the office.
After two request for service and two no call no shows this unsatisfactory. I pay to have service and as a customer should receive more than just this.

The service that I have been paying for the past 3 years came in handy with my washer of 20 years failing. The Nicor services came out determined the washer non repairable due to its age. I purchased a new washer and the Nicor Services promptly reimbursed the $400 amount in our agreed contract. I am very happy with this piece of mind service.

We purchased a home protection plan from Nicor and have used it several times with great service and results. We recently had a cracked clean out pipe in our front yard that would have cost us almost $3000 to fix if we didnt have the coverage. The plumber deemed our problem to be covered and Nicor paid the claim. Having the plan has helped us sleep easier knowing that we are protected

Scheduling via the phone is a bit of a process and should not take so long and the sales pitch to upgrade services is getting old. You need to check online ratings for the contractors they align with because all are not recommended.
I have had home essentials for years, with many things covered. I pay $138.60 a month for coverage. On my clean and check a humidifier was added and my plan for $1500 went to $400 on one furnace. Thats BS I had them so long I was grandfathered in at $1500 and this got changed when the guy came out to service, they are denying this. I will cancel and be done with the poor customer service. Oh cant do a clean and check on AC that I paid for til spring now. They use to call and remind you, now they dont. Dont use them as they change.plans without you knowing. I use to be a happy customer but not anymore.

I noted on my Nicor Gas bill that $5.95 was being added to each billing cycle for Additional Products & Services per Nicor Home Solutions. When I called Nicor Home Solutions, I found this was an insurance policy that rolled over from Nicor Gas to an independent contractor for coverage to cover repairs of in home gas leaks. After two billing cycles, I have not be able to get rid of this recurring charge by calling Nicor Gas and Nicor Home Solutions. The place is a scam! Check your gas bill, unless you want to pay an extra $72 /year for little to nothing.
So I called because I have a sewage issue in my basement this morning, wait time was 4 minutes it has been 30 now. I cant believe there are that many people calling this line right now for problems/questions unless they have been holding for days which could be... if you want a survey, how about hiring people to answer the PHONE!! WHAT ARE WE PAYING FOR?? Great now call is dropped and am starting over in line, this is THE WORST substandard Customer Service!!!! I am sure this is standard operating procedures. BBB here I come!

I Absolutely love my home warranty package plan that I have with Nicor Home Solutions. I have a deep freezer that just stopped working right around the holidays & everyone knows how hard it is to get in & out of store’s during the holidays. So, I called my home warranty company & the sent out a technician the next day at No cost to me, only to find that my starter had gone bad. Within a matter of minutes my deep freezer was fixed & my food was saved. Thanks Nicor 😉

First claim denied. Had bought a higher priced plan to cover more but at first claim told to buy additional and current issue would be pre existing. Waste of money.
Nicor came on 3 different service calls for maintenance of the boiler, installing a new thermostat and checking the gas lines. All 3 services were excellent.
These installers and salesperson are very expert, efficient. The salesman explained a lot. A great experience buying new furnace, and fixing certain issues with exhaust system for hot water heaters. Got it all done in 6 hours, no mess, no fuss for me. Nice guys to work with.

****Update**** A rep promptly reached out to me and explained that the portion they bill to Nicor was presented however Nicor didnt properly put it on my Gas bills. The resolution was Nicor Home Solutions gave me a credit of $98.50 to cover one month. I paid the rest and reinstated my coverage at $95 per month for 12 months due to the rep given me a promotion . Also going forward Nicor Home Solutions will bill me directly im hopeful that cutting out the middle man will prevent billing errors. I am pleased with the resolution. They recently did work at my house and the tech was respectful, wore a mask and resolved all issues. Thanks for making things right Nicor Home solutions.I pay my entire bill with Nicor and Nicor Home Solutions receives thier portion from what I pay. Last month Nicor Home Solutions was not listed on my bill and this current month they decided to bill me for 3 months all at one time which is unreasonable On 10/24/20 The agent I spoke too hung up on me I had to call her back then I got a supervisor named Cale on the line he was rude and offered no apologies for requesting a balloon payment of 3 months on my bill. Instead he accussed me of being behind on my nicor bill and in some type of paying arrangement which is not the case at all. I am on a budget plan so I can certainly afford my bill in full and have paid it in full since I have had the services with them and nicor home solutions. This supervisor offered no apologies, nor credits I had no other choice but to cancel. In this economy I cant handle unfair billing practices such as what they bestowed upon me. He clearly saw there was an error however stated this is your bill and you are being unreasonable. This company wants to drive people in the poor house then when you catch the error they hang up on you and call you unreasonable.
I use Nicor for various repairs throughout my home. It is very convenient to schedule appointments, and the jobs are always to my satisfaction. My fave is Joe the a/c and heater repair man. Always so friendly but more importantly does a thorough clean and check.

We have Nicor home solutions come do our yearly maintenance for our furnace. Always friendly professional and honest. We had a repair done today because some wiring had been fried to the compressor. The technician was honest and fixed the wiring saving us a bunch of money. Highly recommend them.
We have been their customers for several years and Nicor Home Solutions to be excellent EXCEPT that they should increase telephones lines OR evolve methods that calls are answered expeditiously as on many occasions I had to wait for a long time and had to disconnect due to no answer. I have had several occasions to use Nicor Home Solutions. On every call, they have gotten excellent companies out to repair these emergencies in a timely manner if not immediately. I am so glad that I have the full program as with flooding, tree roots and electrical surges, I have been helped greatly with their plans. I highly recommend them.
I have used Home Solutions for years for my heating, air and other appliances. Generally the service is professional, timely and excellent quality. This last service that I had scheduled was not so professional and timely. I had to call twice because of problems with no shows for service and unprofessional behavior from a technician in terms of times of service.With both of these problems the ladies that handled the problems were both very professional, understanding and they fixed the problems quickly and efficiently. Unfortunately I don’t have the name of the young lady that I spoke to on Friday, May 22, but I spoke to Brianna today and was was excellent also.
They provided the service for my broken refrigerator in a very reasonable time frame. The contractor was professional, friendly, and very knowledgeable about appliances. He quickly repaired my 20 yr. old but good refrigerator at no out of pocket costs to me. My 1st experience and it was great.

Its kind of like having a savings account set up for nothing but emergencies having to do with what makes the house work. And if something cannot be fixed by one of their technicians, you get a discount - sizable discount, on a new product. Unlike other appliance discount companies, there is no charge for someone to come out and fix something. No charge! There is even preventative maintenance that is free, for cleaning furnace and air conditioning units once a year. Everything is covered by the monthly fee. Security of this kind is so worth the price. They stand behind all work done, and will send someone out to do the work until you are satisfied. Unless you are a millionaire, this plan is an essential, effortless part of a more stress free way of life.

Ive had this warranty for about a year. Its the best household decision Ive ever made. Ive had electrical issues fixed, a microwave replaced, a garbage disposal replaced, dishwasher repaired twice and an ice maker replaced. All with no deductible. All of the technicians were prompt, knew what they were doing and personable. I recommend this warranty to everyone.
Let Me start by saying I am 74 yrs old and on fixed income. I have had this service for 15 years.My outside sewer line was blocking. Aqua Flow Plumbing was sent out several times to unblock it by Nicor. Told Me they would not come anymore unless I had the line replaced and that could be 10 to 12 thousand dollars or more. Around the 1st of June sewer backing up unable to use water or toliet. Called and they told Me I did not have coverage. Called a local plumber wo gave Me 6800 dollar estimate. No choice if I wanted to stay in My Home. Work was done on 6/4/2019. On about 6/15/2019 I receive a letter from Nicor Solutions stating a charge starting on June 1 that I had been billed for. Outside plumbing . Called and sent copies of bills and pictures as requested. Got a letter saying We Cannot Help. Called back and they said because I didnt call for permission to get My own plumber they could not help. I did call and they told me I didnt have coverage. So why would I call for permission. However according to letter I did have coverage and had already been charged for it. Little ironic. Seems I got scammed by this. Got Call no resolutions Lady insisted I need to read terms and conditions. In other words nothing covered. Fast talking Woman who was a little snippy!
Edit: Nicor Home Solutions contacted me and I am satisfied with their resolution.Its actually 0 stars but you have to choose at least one. I have been charged 4.95-6.95 per month from this company. They said I agreed to the charges. I know I did not and I also know a couple years ago I saw this charge on my Nicor gas bill and called to get it removed. When I called, the woman on the phone said, You signed up, or maybe Neil signed up. NEITHER one of us signed up! They wont be able to produce any proof we signed up because we didnt. They just add this to your bill hoping you dont notice and now with paperless bills, they get away with it. I think we should be reimbursed for all the years(since 2008) weve been paying for this.
I called to find out what this bill is on my fathers account as he recently passed and I had no clue about this insurance. About 6 months prior to calling the furnace had a large crack in it and the air conditioner died, along with frying the circuit in the 50+ year old breaker box. I called this company and the lady was rude and claimed that it was another company that serviced this account called pivitol, so why is your number on my bill and for this she claimed there was an error, eventually after almost 10 minutes she found the account and I told her I am wanting to cancel the contract on this house to which she read from a script about all the money they are saving me. It was at this point I asked about the furnace, a/c and fuse box to which she told me they need to inspect it before any money can be paid out, I explained my father was in the hospital at that time with a stroke and I didnt know about this and can something be done. Absolutely she tells me since its under 1 year and says they can send a rep to the residence to investigate. Hmmmm I say but they took the furnace with them, great then they can go to the business and investigate it there. I laughed at how absurd her reasoning is and then said that she can send out a claim form for the business to fill out and then return to them to get the claim going. Well that is great but why after nearly 30 mins are you finally telling me this? I ask for the form and she tells me that I cant have it because they werent contacted prior to servicing the units. I am scratching my head and ask for a supervisor and in just under 10 minutes a person claiming to be a supervisor gets on and claims to have no clue what we had just discussed as they are really busy. Its now 11:00 pm and I repeat my question of getting reimbursed for the repairs and he tells me that without any evidence they can not process anything because of fraud. I laugh again and say that $14.000 isnt a joke, after 10 minutes of him saying no every way possible in the English language he says Im giving you back to the rep and tell her that I want to cancel the insurance and she begins to tell me in a really nasty, degrading tone if I cancel their insurance how I will be responsible for everything. She kept talking over my questions for her entire 90 second script and I said to cancel it immediately, I am not paying for your scam anymore. She again repeated the script and I said cancel it and she says that she will have to record this and again has to go thru her script once again, yet she said at the start of the call almost 1 hour earlier that it was being recorded. Rude people and supervisors that have to read from a prepared script tells me how unprofessional they are and to try to appease me they claim they would help but in the long run all they did was try to protect their monthly theft from my parents account without ever offering to actually help, If you need a warranty look elsewhere, pay a couple extra dollars for a reputable company as she was trying to pass me off to some other company at the start of the call
A month ago, I waited five hours before they called me and cancelled due to weather. It was raining a little, but it had been drizzling off and on most of the day.Today, my 8-10 appointment is at least two hours late. I called at eleven and was told, “We’re sorry. He must have seen the original 12-2 schedule. Your his next call.” Here I am at 12:30 and still waiting. I must say that I’ve never had an issue with the technicians. They are professional and courteous. The office staff and dispatch people make them look foolish. Tech arrived at 12:40 and as always is a super nice guy. Very personable and professional. Hard to believe these guys are so good and their office support is so ridiculous.I’ll bet I’d hear a lot about it if my payment was late.

We are so happy to be enrolled in Nicor Home Solutions. This is a great program for new home owners who like to pay in advance for maintenance and unexpected services. Glad my mother in-law informed me of the program.
WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE! One star is being generous, I would give zero stars if I could,I placed a claim because I was experiencing problems with my cooling system, I received an email stating I did not have coverage though I have a signed order form cooling maintenance. I was promised someone would look into the matter and call me back, but to date I have not been able to speak with anyone in authority. I have left several messages with best times and phone numbers to reach me, but have conveniently been left messages at times and numbers I clearly indicated I would not be available. As a result of the issues I have had, I cancelled my service; after being assured I would not see any future charges for services from Nicor Home Solutions on my Nicor Gas bill, I was charged the following month. Please do not waste your money on any service offered by this clearly dishonest company, you will likely find they will do their best to avoid servicing you.
Staff does not communicate! Different groups, same company billing from two different accounts. Online accounts confusing, never straightforward!
The tecs went above and beyond the job they had to do very happy about the work that was done they made it easy because it could have been a two visit job but they did it in one thanks
Waste of money! We purchased the complete line protection plan and it’s a joke. Our secondary waste water line is broke somewhere in the ground under the front of our home, so the waste water coming from our kitchen sink and dishwasher is leaking into our crawl space. This is for some reason is not covered by Nicor Home solutions, even though everything in the paperwork shows that it is. The plumber they sent out was Also a no show the first time they were scheduled to come out. Don’t waste your money with this company
My personal experience. Horrible Service and a waste of funds!! Requested service for a plumbing clog issue. Was told I needed to install an above ground cleanout system at my expense to rod out my lines. No one in my immediate neighborhood has an above ground clean out system for clogs. A Clean out system is in the range of $2500. In the meantime, I’m stuck with Nicor Home billing of 500.00. I could have save that amount of money upfront on my own instead paying NHS for services they couldn’t do. Stay away from this place.
The customer service is horrible. I called twice to cancel my service due to personal reasons and they hung up on me twice. If this is how a client is treated who has paid for the service for years without any claims, I can imagine how I would be treated if I had a claim. They seem shady to me.
We have everything positive to say about this service. We pay a flat rate every month that includes our gas bill and the cost of the NHS services we chose to have to protect ourselves from high repair bills. We use the annual free inspection and cleaning of our furnace and a/c. We once had to have our water heater replaced and it cost us $400.00 which if you have the heater replaced normally could be $1000.00 or more. There are many choices you can make for coverages, we currently have whole house coverage, and sewer line. we recommend NHS.
I have been a customer of Nicor Home Solutions for almost 20 yrs. I have had covered 5 appliances and recently added outside sewer coverage. Only once have I been disappointed in the service technician that came out and now I let them know not to send that company. Otherwise the service companies they contact are prompt and efficient.
