Toadstool has always had a great selection. The new location is still convenient and allows them a better layout.

Very nice bookstore. Very good childrens section. We picked up several books for the grandkids. Had a nice selection of blank books with interesting covers that would be great for journals. Though not close to my house I will return to do here.

So many reasons to love this local bookstore: excellent selection, very friendly staff, kid-friendly with a great selection of kids books, very home-y interior that promotes a leisurely browsing experience. Also, for a local place that has to compete with the likes of Amazon, the prices are very good! And they gift wrap their online orders *for free.* Please shop here instead of on Amazon or the bigger book sellers!

This quaint little shop has extremely friendly staff and the food is absolutely amazing!! Every ingredient was fresh and delicious! I got carved turkey, avocado,tomato and lettuce on marble rye bread with a morning muffin. I highly recommend this place for a quick bite to eat during your lunch break or anytime!!

The store had very recently opened so the staff was still trying to get items put in their places and having to shuffle things to make the space work. Staff was very informative and happily fielded all questions from patrons.

Love this store. This location only has a small section of used books relating to New England, of course I found one I had to have!

Update: this location permanently closed as of 10/08/2019I love it here. My daughter and her family know there is little that makes me happier than a gift certificate to the Toadstool. The staff is always friendly, and the staff comment cards have led me to many books I would not have considered otherwise. In a time of mega online booksellers, the Todstool stands out for what a bookstore should be. If nothing else, walk in, take a deep breath, and enjoy the scent of a bookstore while you prepare to delve into worlds waiting for you to explore.

Truly magical place, full of wonderful books that take you on the most magical journeys. Definitely a must go for book lovers.

Toadstool is local they of great books they have a lot of books like a lot the whole store and right right next to actually they have a cafe thats part of the store and the cafe always has delicious items its open for a while and its its really good so you should just go to both get some books go to the cafe awesome yummy fun reads its its all you need other than love.

I try to come by every time I visit home! While the bookstore is sadly not as large as it used to be when it was on the other side of Lordens, the selection is well-curated and I always find something interesting to buy. I love that they have a used book section full of inexpensive buys if my budget is a little tighter. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and can help with recommendations if needed.There are chairs here and there for the customer who cant resist plopping down and thumbing through a book before purchasing. As someone else mentioned in there review, the shop has a nice homey feel.I cannot comment on the cafe personally, but I hear that its pretty good!

Best bookstore around and great staff

This has been a reliable book store for soo long. My problem with it is really only the woman who works the register. A very close minded individual. She wears how many books she has under her belt on her chest (metaphorically). But if you ever have questions about anything you can ask her because she and only she has all the answers. The man who works there is very nice and accommodating. Tall about a kind person. This place hasnt had like 3 authors I was looking for. And hasnt had more than one copy from my favorite author. With all that being said. Its a great SMALL book store. Dont have high expectations.

This place is a great spot .. browse thru an amazing selection of books for young and old, local and international.. not like a giant box barnes and noble but cozy .. I suggest a coffee and some of their awesome baked goods .. a good book and a cozy corner in the cafe .. btw the local artists that have brought their work to the store have out done themselves.. truly a unique and special spot Ill be there often now that I have found it..

Nice to have a branch in Milford; however, not nearly the extensive holdings, nor the quirkiness of the Peterborough store.

The staff was VERY helpful in getting me the books I needed from a specific author. My only complaint was that they threw in an extra book, by someone else, that I did not want. I sadly did not realize this until I was 1500 miles away!
