A wonderful outlet if you are open minded to discovering cool weird stories and talented local artists. Nashville needs this place. It may be only “one shelf” but it is chock full of treasures. If you are visiting Nashville in search of the real-real hole-in-the-wall art and vibes of the city, head over to The Groove for a great record selection and then Wakeup in the back for the art. One stop shop!

Excellent comic stand. I can get collectibles and trade paperbacks from any old comic shop, but Wake Up Comics curates small press comics from creators who push the format and tell the kind of stories a big publisher would never print. I’ve never gone inside and left without at least one book off the shelf.

As a record, CD and tape store, a cool place. As a comic book store, its nothing. There is literally one bookcase with a few comics at the back. If youre looking for new and used music, come here. If you want comics, go to a comic book store, not a record store that sells a couple of comics.

Great curated selection of small press comics! Wake Up is filling the void left by the dissolve of Brainfreeze Comics (also once located on a shelf in The Groove Records). If youre looking for mainstream comics and back issues, this isnt the place (go to Ricks for that stuff). Its very unlikely you will find any of these artists and/or titles anywhere else in town--a real treasure trove.

Not a traditional comic book store!

This isn’t so much a comic book store, as it is a music store that sells a couple independent graphic novels. I’m all for supporting the indie titles and books, though if you come here looking for back issues, and collectibles, or even new issues, then you might be disappointed not to see that here. Though if you don’t mind that, and you want a wide selection of vinyl records, CDs, cassettes, then you will like this place.
