What a great shop!! We get our high carbon steel knives sharpened here. Their cookware and knives are of the highest quality. The owner offers five star chef quality cooking lessons. Wonderful place to spend 45 minutes exploring and putting your wish list together. This is the place to be for people who love to cook or are learning to cook.
I love cooking and kitchen stores, so this was naturally one of the first stores I visited after moving to Nashville many years ago, and I was not disappointed. There are no sales-people here trying to push product on you - only great customer service with plenty of knowledge and stories, so dont be in a rush. They have great coffee & tea, and always have what I need. The sharpening service is fantastic as well - I bring all my knives in every year or so for a fairly inexpensive but quality sharpening job.
Our salesperson was either super knowledgeable or quick with a good lie; either way, they got all my money ... but seriously, we had excellent service, a truly knowledgeable salesperson, and an overall great experience. The coffee was truly unique and supreme quality. Definitely a place we recommend and will return.
Best cup of coffee in Nashville by far. If you are looking for the best espresso in Nashville, I highly suggest this place. They also have great tea and beans with outstanding chocolate to purchase.
I LOVE COMING HERE! The men here are amazing...they kind of remind me of the two hecklers from the Muppets. Their products are great! Coming here is always a fun event. But you do have to have a sense of humor to really enjoy it. If you are one of those people who get offended when a pen drops....do us all a favor and shop elsewhere or at least dont put rude comments on their business page. They really are a Nashville experience...in all the best ways!
So amazing and helpful staff. Very well stocked to outfit any culinary enthusiasts kitchen. Plus the coffee bar is great.
This review is for the coffee bar.... it is quite possibly the best tasting coffee in Nashville and it’s quite a steal too. They are friendly and personable and know what I want when I come in. Great service!
Great store and family owned business! Loved talking with the owners. A great American hometown business and a true Nashville experience. Just go youll be happy!
I have shopped with the Davis brothers many times, mainly at Christmas. I think kitchen utensils make GREAT gifts for the right people who love to cook and spend time in the kitchen! I found the owners to be interesting and very knowledgeable about the products they sell and dont sell. Anyone who doesnt have a few minutes to spend listening to the life experiences of their elders would not appreciate the services these people have to offer. You might as well go get your off the shelf utensils from Walmart!
If you like cooking, tea or coffee, or just an old-timey shopping experience you will love this place. Walking thru the door is like going through a time warp. The shop is tiny, the atmosphere relaxed, the shelves packed to the breaking point. It’s family-owned and you feel that instantly. In addition to a seductive array of high end cookware and gadgets, Davis has some of the hardest-to-find teas and coffees you can find outside of LA or NYC; you can sample each day’s special for free.
I always love going to Davis Cookware, whether its to replenish my loose tea stash or to purchase an essential kitchen item. Knife sharpening is available on site.
This place is just plain FUN to visit. The owners are a treat. Its a classic locally owned shop. Tons of great coffees and all sorts of cookware Go there for the experience its entertaining.
I have been in here once. The man who owns the store is a bigot and was not afraid to tell me his views because I guess he thinks all white, Christian people think like he does. He is also a know-it-all. He wasnt shy about explaining to me how frustrated he gets with customers who dont know as much as he does, about pots and pans, about his coffees, and about other items. His son is much the same, but his area of expertise is tea. Dont get me wrong - they were friendly enough to me. But after a young man came in asking if he could hang a poster about a meeting that wasnt of a Christian nature (I believe it was Buddhist), the owners demeanor changed. He wasnt ugly to the young man, but he sure didnt mind talking about how this country is going to hell in a hand basket as soon as this guy left.Even though they have the best selection (locally) of teas and coffees that I know about, I dont think Ill go back. I try hard to support the local businesses in my neighborhood, but I dont particularly like buying from someone who feels the need to criticize anyone not like him. And FYI, I think he has a legitimate right to his personal opinions, and if he doesnt want to hang a sign in his store window that is opposed to his beliefs, then by all means, he shouldnt do such a thing. But please please please dont talk about your other customers (he talked about every customer who came in, not just the rogue with the poster) in front of me. Its offensive.
Went there to get a couple of items. Selection was great. I didnt even mind the markup over Amazon because I like to support local businesses. But the guy behind the register...wow. I think he was the owner. He was knowledgeable and nice enough, but wasted 20 minutes of my time spouting off about all of his political beliefs. Wouldnt swipe my card until he was done talking about how democrats have set up lotteries to cheat poor people out of their paychecks. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but I didnt appreciate my time being wasted. Im not a rude person, but that would have been the only way to get out of the store faster because efforts to politely speed up the process did not work.I will not be back and would not recommend the place to anyone else.
Davis Cookware has been in business now for over 40 years. You dont last that long unless you are doing a lot of things right. I highly recommend this business for your cookware needs, you will not be disappointed!
Wonderful store, great coffee and kitchen products. Do not make eye contact with the owners unless you would like a long pleasent conversation emphasis on the long. They are really nice but if you are in a hurry, remember no eye contact.
Five stars for coffee and tea! Even more so for incredible kitchen supplies, equipment and a helpful staff.
Great for professionals or novices. Just ask for assistance.
I like to buy local and support local shops but the service here by the owners is just about the worst you can get for a local establishment. I would give it 5 stars for the products they have but as others have said dont start a conversation with these guys or forbid you try to look at the tea in a incorrect manner and get accosted like I did.
Davis Cookware has been a timeless institution of Hillsboro Village for over forty years. The neighborhood has changed dramatically throughout this time, but the Davis brothers have remained the source for quality kitchen utensils and about anything else you really need from the most flavorful pepper youve ever tasted to a reasonably priced asparagus pot that you can pass down to your grandkids. Yes, it is quite rude to handle fragile items such as dried teas and herbs without the owners permission, and you will be corrected if you do so. No one enjoys gritty tea from leaves crushed by thoughtless yahoos who are in too big of a hurry to hold a civil conversation with intelligent learned men. Feel free to object and articulate your point should you feel compelled. Ted will make the time for you to be heard, just as you have taken the time to listen to him. Welcome to Nashville. Just because we waive and smile at strangers does not mean we think as slow as we like to talk. That being said, park anywhere but the Belcourt Theatre behind the store. YOU WILL BE TICKETED if you overstay your one hour free parking for the local businesses in the front, even by five minutes. Park across the street behind the Pancake Pantry. They are good folks too who havent forgot what Nashville is all about.
Love the selection, quality and that its locally-owned.
Nice selection of Kitchen and cooking equipment and utensils.
This wonderful kitchen store is a Nashville treasure.
So sad to see the Davis close after 50 years.
True southern charm, a wealth of information.
Maybe this place was a cookware and cutlery store at some point, but its seemed to devolve to more of a trinket store/coffee shop.
Nice stuff and friendly staff
Super nice employees
