This place….wow. I work in event photography and had to buy a camera and film for my company. Once I bought it, I realized I bought the wrong camera, but I checked their return policy on the website which says if the items are unopened and unused then it’s eligible for return (which is pretty standard). I go to return, and the manager is SO RUDE to the employee trying to process my return, like in front of a customer. I worked in customer service for 10 years and was appalled. The manager then said that I couldn’t return the film, even though it was UNOPENED, UNUSED, and everything was still in tact. The website blatantly says which items are eligible for return but the manager didn’t want to honor that. Whatever. They accepted the camera though. Then the employee takes my original receipt and an invoice, staples it together and says I’m all set but keeps the invoice and receipt in her hand. I asked if I could at least take a picture of the receipt, instead of walking out empty handed. How do you process a return but don’t give customers proof of said return? Why did I have to ASK to take a picture of it? Ugh. The return policy says refunds would be processed in 3-5 days. It’s been over 2 weeks. I called just now and as soon as I said my name they hung up on me, twice. The third time I called, the manager answered the phone. Once I explained I was still waiting on my refund, he asked for my INVOICE NUMBER. Yes, the number from the invoice that the employee didn’t give to me. Mind you, I called a couple times before today checking on my refund status and nobody asked me for my invoice number. I’ve never ever had to deal with people like this. What is the issue here? I returned something unused….why do I have to constantly call for my money back? Any professional photographer, BEWARE of this store. The customer service is unreal and I’m so taken aback that they treat their customers this way. No one is asking for any favors here I literally just want my money back for a product that literally was never touched. A product I returned. What’s weird about this post COVID world that we’re in is that literally millions of people died but here we are, grateful to see another day, and yet people are still miserable and mean to others. It’s sad.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This is a great photography and technology store. Smaller than B&H but much bigger than Adorama in store size. This amazing store opens all day Friday and all day Saturday. 👍🏼👍🏼 Its the perfect solution in NYC for all camera, video, printing needs, photo paper, inkjet paper and many many other things. They always save me as I can buy more archival ink and fine art paper on a Friday or Saturday! Thank you to this store for opening Fridays and Saturdays, and for the diversity of products and inventory they hold!🏆🏆
Terrible costumer service, refused to show me the different models, probably didn’t think I could afford a Hasselblad. Then I looked at Konica Hexar AF, a camera I know well since I owned one. First he didn’t know the difference between an AF and an RF. Then they were priced 2 to 3 times their value. “It’s the price man”
I got help quick and the guy (Manny, I think) gave me great advice. He suggested some equipment that has been a perfect fit for my photo and video needs. Pricing seems appropriate, but the helpful staff is what brings me back to this store as opposed to B&H which is just fine, but not on the same level as this place.
I ordered a tripod, I got the product with the damaged box, Requested for return, It been 4 days i have requesting for refund, still no reply. If i am calling the store, the feedback is, you cant return the item to the store, please return to the ware house. You have to pay for your returns, Even if the box is damaged. Please be aware while buying. Will wait for few more days and will update here.Support team helped me to get by damaged box and refunded .Very helpful but they take time.
Shop with care and test before you buy. I asked for help getting my first DSLR, and they sold me a lens that was not compatible, so I couldnt use the camera. When I brought it back, they seemed annoyed with me. The first replacement offered was also incompatible, but this time I checked first and pointed out that it didnt work. Then they offered me a $400 lens, which I said was out of my budget. They scolded me about the importance of quality lenses. If you shop here, be prepared to check everything and advocate for yourself.
I sold my camera to K&M and got a really good deal. They’re very helpful if you want to buy new or used cameras, they both have very extensive collections of new and used cameras. If there’s something you can’t find here they will order for you. Customer service is absolutely amazing, bar none. I always go to K&M when I have to buy or sell a camera! Ask for Manny, he’s pretty knowledgeable and passionate about photography!
Bad customer service...I submitted my 120 film to be developed + scanned. The developing was good but scanning was really awful. The colors were off, there were dusts everywhere, the right end of each frame was blurred even though the film had no issue (I know, because I tested the film at my own flatbed scanner afterwards). And the first frame of the film was missing at the scans. Also, even though I paid extra for the high resolution scanning, the photos came in 1766 x 2412 pixel. (The scans are attached to this review)When I called back the store, they were careless and refused to offer me a refund.Hey, you could at least say We are sorry for the bad result, sir!!!
Havnt shopped at K&M in years but i work in the area sometimes, they came in clutch when i came too check out the new location and had the last Canon RF ef lens adapter in NYC since they are backlogged 4-6 or more week too get more, and price was superb $107 exactly, this store is not that bad they just need more stock in everything and hire better staff
Went in to buy a point and shoot. Was spoken to like I knew nothing by one of the managers who is the owners son or something and then he starts arguing with his father in the middle of my purchase. I walked out and bought elsewhere, I found a great shop called fotocare in the 20s, this place is clown town and really not what I would expect a “camera” store to offer to customers. Beware maybe call ahead and only use them if you know exactly what you want.
Ordered a Sony a9 from them. Received the item and it was busted. The mode dial lock was broken off...I tried putting it back together thinking it would work but nope...it is broke.Contacted the store via email 3 times. Called 3 times. Left a voicemail for their returns department. Its been 4 days and no response at all.
As many other folks have commented about this even the comments being a year ago are still accurate... the customer service is really bad and i get that it can get a little chaotic in that store since theyve just moved but you cant take that out on your customers like come on now. this isnt my first time at k&m i always go to get my film stocks and my developing chemicals and im pretty aware of how fast pace it was but the customer service and the attitude was just terrible
Closer to 2.5 honestly. Mixed feelings about this place - but have been going here awhile. Its really dependent on the people working that day, you can get someone who is willing help you out or is dismissive. I go here since its an easy place to pick up film quickly, otherwise I try to avoid it if I can.I have made a large purchase and rented here but youll want to just make sure to get things in writing, and double or triple check things, and vet for yourself. Theres a lot of unwritten processes, and each staff will handle things differently, so treat as if youre calling in for support with your service provider. Its a little chaotic, staff will give you different answers, youll have to repeat your story, and itll take some time. Itll work out in the end but as everyone says the customer service is a hit or miss. Its not really the friendly local camera store its more of the know exactly what you want and get out asap - like the DMV.
I had a great time here! Staff greeted me and were very friendly. We discussed price range of cameras but when I asked for a specific old film camera I was looking for they had it! It is in mint condition! The staff installed new batteries, loaded my film and were very kind and knowledgeable thoughtout the process. They didnt try to upsell me at all, and I left very satisfied. Thank you so much!
I stumbled upon K&M for equipment rental when Adorama didnt have what I needed. K&M exceeded my expectations as a retail and rental facility.Every staff member that I spoke to in person or on the phone, especially Zach and Jeremy was extremely polite and friendly. Will be using them from now on, and definitely recommend.
This is not a store, its a social club. Its run by father and son, with same employees working for past 7 years that I had been going there .
Just received some of the best customer service from the online sales team. On top of being helpful and genuine they also took time to educate me on certain products better. Their kindness and hard work should definitely be applauded. Especially during a time where it’s easy to be an a$$. Highly recommend and will be ordering from here again.
I can and will not hold back on this review. Being a customer, a consumer, and a photography fanatic who applied for a position as a sale associate at this establishment this place deserves a 1 out of 5 stars. To begin, The lack of customer service and ability to help. As soon as I walk in I’m not even greeted, I get a quick “Do you need help?”. Those types of employees are the worse, just get out of my face and let me browse. If you can’t open a good conversation to help me find what I need and add on don’t bother to approach me.Another reason is the manager, snobby and seems like he knows everything there is about cameras but in the most rude way ever. This might a bit biased since he never gave me the job but I digress. Going on from that they seem to lie about the “student discount” when there is one and they just flat out say no we don’t have one.How can we encourage our audience to try photography when their own employees in the store don’t even seem passionate about it.I would have given this store a maximum of 2 out of 5 stars but just having to think about it while writing this review I dropped it to a 1.Never will I shop from here again. Better alternatives: Ebay and amazon. Until they fix their customer service and management team, this place will forever be on my list of “worse places to visit in NYC”.Sincerely,Raymond C
Wildly unprofessional staff, to the likes I havent seen before in the store. I came in looking to purchase a medium format camera, so I go to the used department and asked to see a camera. I approach the desk and ask the older man if I can see the particular model of a camera and try it. He looks like he couldnt be bothered as if he some king of the used camera department. He yells over a younger sales associate to help me. The young sales associate helps me out and as I ask the associate to see if he had any other models that was available.Another customer enters and ask the old man for a particular camera. Instead of helping the other customer himself, he berates the younger sales associate for helping me because I(the customer) only came here to look and you(the younger sales associate) cant tell who is a buyer and who is a looker.. Forcing the younger sales associate to leave me alone and help the other customer, I stood back shocked and observed how he treated the other sales associate. He once again lorded over another sales associate, yelling and ordering him around to get a battery. After seeing how this old guy is treating not only his team and his customers, How does he know if I was going to purchase something when I wasnt even allowed to be informed of the inventory that have?At least they very clearly reinforced my decision to not come back for any reason and to inform my friends and professionals to do the same unless they want to feel like they were being done a favor for being in their presence.
Any Business with An Amazing Customer service, will grow constantly and fast, from the very first time I had a transaction with this Store through Ebay, now I got their number directly through google search, I have been recieving top of the line and Excellent Customer service.I think i Ow them, to let the world know how good they are. Please never change in this aspect, no matter how big and successful you will be in the feature.Thank you.
Purchased a Leica M 10 monochrome and high performance memory card from these folks. The card in their on-line store was back ordered so they contacted me. When given the delay I asked for an alternate card that they might have in stock and was offered that product though a little more expensive. I agreed and then was called back within the hour stating there would be no additional charge, they substituted and shipped. Great communication after an on-line sale. The only negative was their tracking app wasnt activated so I had to call a few days later to get the expected delivery date. Good customer service.
Big fan of K&M. Im a photographer in NYC, and I come to this store regularly to check out gear. The folks Ive spoken with are generally very knowledgeable, and happy to help. Don, who usually runs the used gear department, is THE MAN. I always love going to talk to him and get his insight/advice on gear. He really knows his stuff, and he takes the time to explain everything and make sure you know whats going on. He is an educator who wants to help you enjoy and love photography. I absolutely recommend K&M, and make sure you talk to Don. Hes wonderful.
Don gives me the best costumer services ever, I got my Mamiya RZ67 and he also teach me real quick how to use.
This place is exactly what I always hoped for a camera store in NYC. Every staff member is a character, this place should have a sitcom. Extremely helpful, great selection of goods, and good location! I love this place
The seller is not honest. I saw a Hasselblad 60mm CFI lens for $999 on their website and went to the store to buy it. The owner of the store said they dont have it anymore. When I came back home the lens was in stock for $1599. He lied, he had the lens but he wanted to increase the price. Also if you see how they store their lenses and cameras you would never buy from them. I dont recommend this place.
I don’t know what about other services, but never give your camera for repair here !!! On October 16, I gave my camera them to fix the shutter, paid $ 30 and they told me to wait for a letter of confirmation with mail and a link to pay, I’m a tourist here and I needed to leave, I asked about the deadlines, they confirmed that everything will take about 6 DAYS!!! I didn’t get NOTHING . I drove to them a week later and they said about the delay due to the holidays (there were 3 days off in the city) After that I also received NOTHING, after I arrived 10 days later ..... we tried to find out what was happening for a long time, the guys called for repairs (the employees in the store itself are very friendly) I was thinking of a problem in the work system and other employees responsible for obtaining information and monitoring the work) As a result, I paid $ 170 for repairs, and I was assured that the camera would be ready in 7 days !! (they called master) and here I am, November 8th, they told me that the camera will be ready in a week, on Thursday !!!! And I need to leave !!! And again, I did not even receive a letter or a call about the delay for a WEEK !!! I can’t describe how I’m mad and upset !!!!
I went in looking for medium format gear that I can’t find elsewhere in NYC. They have a nice selection but charge quite a premium for their used gear.I’m a student on a budget. When I told them that the lens I was looking at was out of my budget, I was barked at by one older staff member. He told me I shouldn’t even look at their used items if I didn’t have the money for them...One younger staff member understood my situation and gave me some tips on finding the gear I need at reasonable prices. He helped me find a battery that worked in my new camera. The older employees were very rude. The young staff member I talked to was much more respectful. I don’t plan on going back here.
Very friendly and helpful staff! Had a photo emergency on set and K&M saved the day with extremely fast freight delivery. Reliable, fast and friendly- just the best!
Stay far away from this place. I had to shop here because B&H was closed. Im a professional videographer and I came in there to spend a good bit of money. After every question I asked, the guy helping me (who I assume is the owner) would act like it was such an outrageous question and would nearly roll his eyes at me like I dont know what Im talking about. Literally the simplest questions ever. Then hed treat his employee like trash by scolding him multiple times in front of me. And this was all in a matter of 5 minutes. Side note, his employee was actually really nice and deserves a raise for putting up with his boss.
The lens I got turned out to be faulty - it only focused to a distance of 2 inches while the focus scale showed infinity and didnt couple with the metering either. The used lenses are overpriced as well - 119$ for a beat up looking 50mm 1.8 lens.Id definitely recommend heading to B & H where one can be sure that the goods being sold are not faulty and go through rigorous quality checks - not to mention that their products are priced much better.Only reason I am even giving this 2 stars is because of the younger staff who were nice to me.
Zero Stars would be more appropriate. And I promise half of these reviews are fake. No one fakes a bad review. They must have had a theft issue in the past because they treat their customers like thieves. Or they act like obnoxious Glenn Gary-Glenn Ross salesman. There is ONE guy that works there who is a great person. The fat man and the younger punks are absurd. Every single other employee is awful, the vibe is phony and pretentious. Even writing this review feels like a bigger waste of time then actually going there - but Im doing it because you all shouldnt waste your time! This is New York and there are WAY better places to get your equipment and film. I made the mistake of thinking that 3 less subway stops was more convenient ...NOPE...GO TO B&H or even Adorama. This place needs new policy and a new owner with a whole new staff.
I am absolutely disgusted with the service. I am an old customer who has been renting things from K&M for ages now.I purchased a RZ system and after testing the film roll, the camera had issues. These guys who claimed at the time of sale that the camera can be returned anytime within a month did not return the camera. I showed them a valid receipt but still it was like taking to a wall. The guy is spoke with was highly unprofessional, uncivilized and did not have any idea what he was talking about. Please do not shop here !!!!Go to B&H.
Highly recommend!!! So great doing business with K&M Camera. Got an amazing deal on a new lens thanks to Don! He is honest & knowledgeable.
The guys over at k&m are really cool. I went in there to get a bag. I had $60 to my name, and they hooked it up. Angel and Diva are the kind of people I just want to sit down in a coffee shop with and discuss my interests. I would seriously recommend this store to anyone of my friends in need of some gear. Angel if your reading this thanks so much man, and tell Augie hes the man.
Very rude staff (especially the tall larger guy) who make you feel incredibly unwelcome. They are clearly there to take advantage of tourists and people with very little camera knowledge.Simply put, K&M is like the evil twin of B&H Photo. Don’t get them confused. Shop with B&H instead.
These guys are one of my favorite camera stores. The biggest reason is that they are opened on Saturday. They are the only major store open on Saturday . Ive been coming here since 1999. Their new location allows more gear and better sales service. The busiest day is Saturday. They have all the latest gear as well as traditional darkroom essentials. Their film is always refrigerated and plenty on stock. Sales people arent pushy and are well knowledgeable. Great used department for digital as well as film. They also rent equipment at reasonable rates. Pretty much anything for photo & video.
Friendly staff and very helpful. They let me try a few lenses on my camera as I was looking to make a purchase.
I bought a Shotgun Microphone from K&M because B&H was closed. I ended up not liking the way it sounded so I tried to return it a few days later. The person who handled the return insinuated that the mic sounded bad because I didnt know how to use it... I’m a union camera operator...I can forgive the rudeness. What I cant forgive is the money wasnt returned to my card and I ended up having to dispute the charge with my credit card company 3 weeks after the return. Avoid at all costs and just wait for B&H or go to Amazon.
I fall in love with this place. Once I found there the best backpack ever, which I was searching for for 3 months. Hugest selection of bags, backpacks and any other camera equipment. Also greatest old camera department in the city for sure and of course Film fridge!Thank you all for your work!
The only store I go to...KM Camera has always been a great resource for me as a photographer and filmmaker in the downtown area. They have gone ABOVE AND BEYOND so many times in their rental department. I consider them part of my family now, and so does my dog. They have a great friendly staff that is very knowledgeable and give me the best prices possible on their vast inventory of gear. They have always supported me and been very helpful with any questions and challenges that I have to bring my life to work.
Great place to look at used film camera. Although they’re priced at a premium, they’re guaranteed to work. The old guys are kinda rude if you look like you’re not buying anything. The old guys will go out of their way to make you buy stuff and add ons like a UV filter if you’re buying a lens. The younger guys are way nicer and courteous to talk to.
Awesome experience here at K&M. Ordered gear online which was lost in the mail by UPS - was a very stressful experience but Ross (manager?) took care of the entire thing for me. Contacted UPS, initiated an investigation, and started the insurance claim. K&M had already come highly recommended from a famous photographer friend who swears by them, so Id assumed I was in good hands, but you never know.Would give them and their team 5 stars all the way around. Plus theyll price match so theres no need to go anywhere else to look for gear. Highly recommend!
A week ago I made an online order of more than $ 500 dollars to this store and I paid a two-day shipping which was never real. I called to see the status of my shipment since my emails did not have any respond and they told me that the next day I would have an answer; they never contacted me. A few days later I called to the store and they direct me to another department because they do not handle online shopping. Once I hang up, i received an order cancellation to my email, I tried to communicate multiple times to the department, and it turns out that the call comes out without a tone, I called from another phone and they answer me in a very aggressive tone questioning why my insistence, that they knew it was me calling from another number. I asked them what was the reason for not answering me if they knew about my order a few days ago, in a highly altered tone he told me that he was not responsible for decisions made by Steve and then he told me that they canceled my order because supposedly they did not have the item. There are many ways to tell a customer that they do not have the item they are buying online, and more so when they know that something is wrong with their communication. It is the worst experience ive ever had making an online purchase. I am a business owner and would never allow treatment in this way as if the client were to blame for its inefficiency.
Done with K and M. I dropped my camera off for a repair on July 13. It is now the 28th and I have yet to be contacted by your repair department. Going on 15 days and K and M hasn’t even told me what the issue is with the camera or if they’ve even taken a look at it. Every day I’m told that they will call me back or to look for an email and NOTHING. To top it off, I told them I would be leaving town and needed a camera for the trip. They lent me a camera and told me I was set. After getting back from the trip and developing 5 rolls, it’s easy to see that the light meter is off. 4 days ago I want to the store to see if i can get some answers and was given the run around. “Cameras not here”, “repairman is not here”, “he’ll be here soon”. I was told to wait until 11 for him to arrive. At 11:20 I approach the counter again and the same dude that told me to wait nonchalantly tells me “oh i talked to him, he said he’s gonna be late today”. At this point I just want my camera back so that I can take it somewhere that provides better more reliable customer service. Very unprofessional.
The girls that attended me were nice but other than that service was mediocre. When I called to ask about the status of my film, the guy that responded was very rude and lifeless. When I got my scans they were very bad quality, I thought they were thumbnails of the actual pics at first.
As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by one of the sales staff. I wanted to see some camera bags and pick up a camera body. Extremely knowledgeable and very helpful. i had called earlier to make sure they had a 5D Mark IV body in stock. They had it ready as promised. I was in and out without a problem. Great experience.
Stopped in to get a camera strap and everyone was in a bad mood, gave no effort to help me until I was ready to purchase, and then made me out back everything I didn’t buy. Nice selection of gear though.
I try not to rate locations and businesses I havent had actual business with but my experience here rubbed me the wrong way. I went in to get an estimate on if someone would be able to take a look at my lens as the rear mount was shaky. After 15 minutes and speaking to four employees one of which who described their coworker as the Mexican looking dude, I left, as no one was able to give me a solid answer and kept buffering with uh gimme a sec. I didnt want a yes or no just an idea from someone on IF it would even be possible. Their diagnosis fee was $30 which I felt was steep and I was subsequently able to get it fixed ay another place who charged me $15 for the diagnosis.
I went to K&M Camera as I needed 3 pictures printed as a present for my wife. The chap who spoke to me to assist couldnt have been more helpful. He lined everything up for me on the workstation and got them printed out perfectly. Ill definitely be going back for future prints.
Perfect shop if you need special stuff, I find all I need for my old Pentax 6X7. The seller know these products very well, much more pleasant than going to b&h or other shop.
Wanted to get a photo of the famous Casey Neistat 368 and old Studio, but took the chance to buy some SD cards for the Insta 360 One X, from K&M. I was amazed the service was brilliant and knowing what you see Casey buys from there and spending a fortune I got the same great service for buying a few cards.Really nice people.
They have a section for everything! I tried B&H and they did not have any cameras I wanted. These people are highly skilled and know how to fix any problem you have. I had to leave for a trip the next day and they had the exact camera I needed.
The Camera repair staff are the nicest and honest people you will encounter when it comes to camera repairs. They will help you or point you in the direction without worrying about making a quick buck off you. I would recommend anyone to come here if they have any camera issues.
Ordered a camera online. After a week and a half I called to check on the status after not receiving an update on my order. Was transferred multiple times to different departments before finally being informed the order was cancelled after being placed due to being out of stock. I was told that someone had failed to update the online inventory. I completely understand a product being out of stock however, it had been over a week and I had not received a notification that the order was canceled. I had already paid for the item. I was told on the phone that they would start the process of refunding the order. Had I not called I guess they would have not issued a refund. The person on the phone was completely dismissive and said that someone should have contacted me. As a business owner, I completely understand items being out of stock however, the customer should have been notified immediately and a refund issued, the customer should not have had to call to start the refund process. Now I am back to square one with ordering a camera and I still have not been issued a refund. Hopefully this will get resolved and I will not have to waist more of my time filling a dispute with my credit card company.
The people that work there are really cool. Angel is the man, he really took time to explain lighting to me. I will definitely be back!!
Speaking as someone who actually never stopped using film, K&M is a treasure of a shop. Mind you, theyre absolutely up-to-the-second on whatever the latest thing in imaging happens to be: if GoPros or 4k drones are your thing, theyve got you covered. But if youre getting set for a serious project or extensive trip, and you need to lay in for a hefty stash of fresh film beforehand, theyll grab it fresh from the fridge for you, stat. They also have a good selection of new and used hear, so if youre in need of an additional lens or the like, its worth stopping in. Recommended.
Had no intention of buying anything photography related this holiday until I noticed a couple of people coming out of this store. I walked in to be greeted how from now on I will be measuring all photography stores back home. Packed with gear and plenty of great staff on hand to give much needed advice. I ended up getting a nice portable tripod and if Im ever in the area again will be coming back!
These guys were extremely helpful and friendly. They even went out of their way to show me how to use the equipment properly. They werent just renting equipment, they really cared about the success of my shoot. The price is also more than fair. Highly recommended.
I recently ordered a gear bag from them. The item was well packaged and arrived quickly. There was a quality control issue with the bag, but they went above and beyond to address the situation. Recommended.
Fantastic experience with K&M Camera. They have great prices, and are actually USA Authorized! I bought a Canon 80D from them, and have no regrets. Thanks K&M, great store, it was a pleasure doing business with you. I would definitely recommend to everyone.
I had a great experience renting from K&M. Next time Im in NYC Ill rent from them again. I also recommended them to the videographers I was working with who are based in NY. Great people, good service and selection.
I really want to like this place as it is steps away from my office and really convenient for me. And they have a good stock of film. But I have to say, the older men that work here are really hard to be around. The other day I was in there, and one of them looked like he was having a fit, he was yelling at the other employees. Im assuming he was the owner or manager. cringeworthy. The younger sales associates are usually very pleasant and helpful.
Super friendly service. theyre very good with making sure youre being helped. nothing more frustrating then trying to get employees attention.
Go here on Jewish holidays when B&H and Adorama are closed! Such knowledgeable staff and most were friendly. Fair price for my Tri-X film and was in and out within a few minutes, which was what I needed. Will be back if I’m in the neighborhood.
I was sold a battery for my camera that lasted less than 6hrs - not impressed! My friend however got a lens for camera & was happy with her purchase. The staff was friendly.
Totally zero star to this company, maybe there are a lot of fake good reviews just as another post said. Terrible customer service .... it waste my time and money....they dont care any customers service if you ask, only if you contact your bank to dispute the transaction, then they come out now as XXXXXX.shame on this company.
Dubious business at best. Do not give your $$ or Credit Card info to this establishment. I rented equipment for $75 and was charged $350 for damages. This equipment was in fair shape at best; thats why its in the rental department. I have rented and bought equipment from other businesses for many, many years and have NEVER had an issue. This was the first and absolutely last time I will deal with KM Camera. This repair was completely unnecessary. More importantly it was in no way attributable to me because I ended up not using the equipment. This is like renting a car with 100k miles, parking it in your clean garage overnight, and then being charged $350 when your return it as it was for an imperceptible, tiny dent among the many scratches, dings, and scraps that are completely normal wear and tear from its extensive previous use. If the owner of KM Camera, Peter Kosovitz, and his staff can behave like this in this situation, you can be certain they behave this way as often as possible to generate $$ as an additional stream of revenue. If youre a consumer, stay away. If youre an employee, you deserve to work someplace better. If you are a brand that sells cameras, film, and equipment to KM Camera on an authorized basis, reconsider who you do business with. Finally I think the owner and team at KM Camera should consider something reputable business professionals call Lifetime Customer Value. As a professional photographer, I buy and rent thousands of $$ worth of equipment every year. I was literally considering the purchase of a new Sony lens at KM, which cost $1800. Ill order it elsewhere. Furthermore, I talk to and associate with many other photographers, studios, and directors. Was that $350 worth what youre about to lose now? Be a better business. Be a better human.
Cool place to talk for advice, look around or buy. Very informed staff that are friendly and helpful. It depends what you are look at but it can be very expensive because of the quality of gear they sell.
It might not be the most friendly place for clueless people, but if you know what youre doing, you can get some good prices for their used stuff.Recommended for photography students/professionals who knows gears.
Great customer service
Was in NYC for a family visit. Figured Id see where Casey makes his magic (big fan). No Casey around but checked out K&M. Surprised about the reviews, these guys were awesome. Very welcoming, nice selection of products. Would shop here anytime to support local photo stores.
On top of the fact that they have student discounts, the associates were very nice and friendly. I went in and out in about 10 minutes with a huge list of items.Honestly, it went 10x smoother than I thought it would be. Highly recommend this store!
My favorite Camera Store in NYC! They are always really helpful and have a great range of products! Best place for used analog cameras!
The service here wasn’t good. It seemed like some of the staff was more willing to provide customer service, but the gentleman who was helping us was rude, he seemed uninterested, and was very unhelpful. We left stressed.
Lol so rude. Ended up with an ok deal but still manager was really rude.
Super helpful and nice. Awesome store.
My go to camera store in New York.
I work in a professional capacity with these idiots. Only if Im in a big emergency and have called every last camera shop and friend in the city do I ever deal with K&M. When I do have to deal with them, its a nightmare. Before I even have any bit of my order fulfilled, they charge my card and send me a receipt with no explanation of the charges, no order number. The amount is ALWAYS over the amount I should be charged!! And when I call and get them to fix it and refund me, they ignore my call, put me on hold, or hang up on me if I keep holding. These people are crooks. They are probably getting away with overcharging all of their clients and people just dont notice or pay attention. Then they often have things missing from my order when I have it delivered (which I have already paid for and cannot get them to refund when its missing). Ive also had them try to slip items into my orders they I did not order, then bill me for it. If you can help it, NEVER deal with these people.
Great selection, helpful and attentive. Stocked with filters and colored gaff tape in back
Saved me! Fast and professional! Best part they are open on a Saturday, which in NYC is saying a lot
One of the few camera stores open on Saturday in the city. Solid film selection with many used options also. Have pretty much whatever you might need without the crazy atmosphere of the other store.
I love this place. Manny has helped me out and gone above the call of duty. I buy everything I can for photography here. Love being a pro at K&M Camera.
Amazing collection of DSLR and lenses!!They have a very good used section!I got Nikon D7500 for almost half the prize!! Been working like a clock for a year now!!Also you might bump into Casey neistat!
Tons of gear. I was only there for a few minutes to pick up a camera strap right before closing time. Even though they were eager to close up on time and go enjoy Halloween, they offered friendly help and information on their available products and I didnt feel rushed. Looking forward to visiting with more time.
The absolute worst camera store in the world. Just a few young girls at the entrance who say, you need to ask our manager Manuel. Manuel, on 3 visits to NYC has been on lunch break. Even just right now while Im at the store at 5:42pm. So... go figure. Lat time I got scammed into buying some LED ring light that neither works, nor attaches to the camera as promised. Its all super amateur, very old school NYC scam-type store. Avoid. Take the extra 30 minutes and go to one of the many competitors.
Worst customer service ever! I would give them 0 star if there was an option. I called to know price of 2 items for purchasing them, the guy who picked up the call was very rude. He spoke to me like he was very irritated and he doesnt want to help and then he hung up the phone on me. Every time I tried calling K&M stores, they would cut the line on first ring and pick up when redialed. They dont respect their customers. I dont know if their behavior is only rude with me, but they are very rude. I had bad experience there before but the owner was nice to me and said sorry for that so I reconsidered but here we go again with the rudeness of their sales team.
Terrible experience when I stopped by this past month. Terrible service and feel very pressured the entire time. This big dude acted as if I would break the equipment if I touch it. Not competitive pricing despite claiming that and was very reluctant to match price. Availability at stock is decent at best. Overall, highly recommend against it mainly because of their service. Felt like a scam the entire time.
Andrew and Huang are very friendly and nice staff! I have a problem with my tripod, and they kindly helped me out. Recommend!
Went browsing in the store without a specific camera need...really good customer service and plenty of unusual items + normal camera items to keep you looking around a bit. I wound up with some accessories that I think will be great additions to my camera arsenal. Thanks Mike
THIS STORE DOES NOT ALLOW SHIPPING TO ISRAEL! I tried to buy aguitareffect called- TC Electronics flash back mini delay, only to be rebuffed!by a little window, which said the product cannot be shipped to Israel!Yet, with a different seller, I managed to buy the exact same productNow, I dont rule out the possibility there may have been some kind of mistake in the process, but from where Im standing right now, Im highly displeased with K&M CAMERA...
Awful service and return policy. They will charge you $50 if you even open the package you bought and return it for re-packaging costs even if you return it with every box and wrapping it came with. Then they took over a WEEK to refund us and NOT even in full! They still took $100 from us! Horribly ran, have never purchased from a place with such horrendous service.
BE VERY CAREFUL WITH PURCHASING ONLINE!!!! I will never use these guys again! I made a single purchase but was charged twice. They said I could return the items after I receive them but the cost to do so is on me. VERY unhappy!
Very helpful staff I have to go back there tomorrow to make sure about one of the products I was looking at p
Famous YouTube vloggers Casey Neistats go-to camera store.Large choice of everything photography related and very professional service. Top notch.
The worst camera store I’ve ever been to. My girlfriend and I often have to buy our film and paper here because it’s the closest store we’ve got (we are BOTH photographers). The male employees at this store are DISGUSTING. They are sexist and rude to my girlfriend every time she walks in there and try to mansplain everything. The really big guy is the worst. Avoid this place at all cost especially if you’re a woman. The manager is also nasty towards women, but they’re generally rude and condescending towards everyone.
I dont even live in NY so i just end up looking at their stuff online and they always got what i need but if you are ever in the area i would check out the shop and Angel is a legend
Small but well stocked camera store with knowledgeable staff. Good place to rent production equipment or some photo/video equipment.
Good camera shop with helpful staff.
Awesome service and selection. Super friendly and knowledgeable!
