Decent selection of items for when youre in a pinch, but if youre not on a time crunch Id go somewhere else for better pricing and customer service. They are oddly rude and unhelpful for no apparent reason. I go out of my way to support and pay more to shop small, but the attitude of employees is so negative I wont return.

I come here for projects both large and small. And they always have exactly what I need. I love this hardware store. They are very reliable.

Just called to let them know that my credit card may have possibly been hacked at the store - as a courtesy. The person I spoke to seem more intent on questioning why I was calling than getting to the bottom of the problem. My very last charge (June 7) was at this location but the person that I spoke to became argumentative and very very rude. I will not be going back to this store ever again, since this is the way they treat customers who are trying to do the right thing.

The dark haired woman who I believe is a manager is so incredibly rude and condescending to both customers and her staff, I really couldn’t believe it. She’s also simply illogical. The two guys who tried to help me initially were great, but when I returned later they seemed to cower under her. I was being very polite, as were other customers and the two other employees. Everyone was having a fine morning but she seemed determined to spoil that. Do yourself a favor and read the Yelp reviews, and read their response to another 1 star review on this board - “1 star reviews are from 1 star people”. Good lord, is it possible that maybe some customers get treated poorly, and they should try to improve that rather then attack them personally? That response is very telling...My family and I plan on staying in West Village but we will never step foot in this store again, and will be sure to share our experience with neighbors and friends. They really should put someone else in charge.

Useless and laughably overpriced, it’s a mystery how they stay in business. They have a unique talent for never having what you need in stock. The only reason I was still giving them business was for their SodaStream charger depot and now they’re no longer even doing that. Good riddance!

Just moved to the neighborhood, and was glad to find these local guys. hey are very helpful. had a great experience with the staff. they really helped me with my problem. They didnt have what I needed, but they did the research and ordered it for me. above and beyond.

The inventory is expansive and the service is top notch. Its quite literally the best damn hardware store in this town or any other!

The person behind the counter had absolutely no idea of what he had in the store. Anything I asked for he pointed out where to look in the store. He said they didn’t have something and I found it. After checking out he said to me you learned some here today I said no you learned something today like you actually have things in this store. No professionalism, no customer appreciation, if I owned that store he would have been dismissed.

West village apartments are weird and they were really able to help with my crooked molding and slanted floors. the staff is super knowledgeable about so many things and are always willing to help and explain everything to me so im confident in my DIY skills!

It doesnt matter what I need, Garber Hardware is where I go to get it. Nat and team are courteous, friendly and knowledgable. A few weeks ago, I needed to hang some shelves in my closet. I headed down to Garber Hardware, where I not only got what I needed, but picked up a few pro tips on how to get the job done. Cant recommend them highly enough.

Decent size hardware on Greenwich in the West Village, cant beat that. Friendly staff and good selection. Hardware stores like this are becoming more and more rare in these parts, so you have to appreciate it.

There is simply no other store like this in mid-town Manhattan, which can supply your every hardware/outdoor need. Looking for a hatchet to bring camping? Got it. Looking for a replacement hinge for the broken door? Its there. Looking for tools of all shapes and sizes, plus someone knowledgeable enough to show you its proper use? This place is living proof that the corner hardware/supply store still has a place in every corner of our modern society. Even better is the contraption at the rear of the register area that holds/dispenses some absolutely delicious bourbon.

Save your time and go here—NOT to big-box hardware chains; you get what you pay for, and the expert advice and care Garber provides are priceless (and frankly, the prices here are shockingly reasonable). In the wake of gentrification run amok, they are an exquisite example of they go low; we go high, treating everyone who enters this place with complete respect and attentiveness, whether entitled über-rich or old-timers or anyone in between. The Garber gang is knowledgeable, honest, willing to order things for you or even send you elsewhere in the rare instance of something not being in stock or not carried. No longer residing in the West Village, I now travel over five miles to patronize Garber. Sixteen and a half thumbs up.

Nothing better then a local mom and pop store. the location was their other store on 9th Avenue= needed to replace a key. home depot did not have what I needed and so I went to Garber-figured they could use my business with the construction in front of their store. I walked in -the 2 dogs greeted me- spoke to the owner who explained he did not have the key but could use the blank. He said he was not possitive it would work but if it didnt I could return it. The key worked and my son was impressed with the quality- I would go back there in a heartbeat

The staff are usually pretty keen on their craft, and the range of goods is comparable. Staff however often seem aloof, or uncaring, and sometimes downright unfriendly. to this affect, I usually find that Id rather go to Home Depot.

Owner/staff are attentive and super helpful. If it was possible, Id add an additional star for the canine employees, even though they seemed a little lazy.

I have to say that I have been to a lot of hardware stores and this one makes other ones look like there amateurs.Its awesome

Do not go here if you can help it. Stuff is mispriced by almost a dollar and when you say something that its different on the shelf they tell you to get a lawyer!! Go to home depot!
