Over 8 months (and counting) to get a dishwasher. The salesman said it would be less than 1 month. They dont communicate your order status, and you cant check online. They dont call you back. They forgot to deliver my dishwasher on the scheduled delivery date. Then they delivered the wrong one. They never even ordered the right one from the manufacturer. They have no idea how any of this happened. They cant do anything about any of it.Heres the story...I ordered a dishwasher in March. It was out of stock and they promised Id have it in April. I received no updates through April. When I called for an update they suddenly said there were 50 people waiting in front of me and I wouldnt have it until September.September finally rolls around, still no updates. So I call and they tell me its in stock and we schedule a delivery. On the delivery day, they dont show up. They dont reach out to me to reschedule. I call them again and they say oh, we forgot, and arrange to deliver it the following day. When I open the box, it turns out to be a completely different model than I ordered. My receipt confirms the correct model number, but what they delivered has a different model number. I call to tell them. They say theyll figure it out and call back. They dont call back for a week. When they finally do, they say they cant deliver it until November. It turns out they never even ordered the dishwasher from the manufacturer because they got confused by the manufacturers model numbering. And they cant pick up the wrong one they delivered for several weeks, so I have to store it somewhere safe and dry for a month.
The worst customer service I have ever experienced. A big disappointment from a legacy business I’ve been using for 30 years. I don’t fault them for the delays. Number one, messages are not returned. Number two, not once in the eight months waiting for the appliances that have been paid for did I receive a call or an update. On the phone, the sales staff make no attempt to conceal their contempt for the customer. I have been argued with and hung up on. My appliances are now in stock and yet, despite a concerted effort, can not make arrangements for delivery. Sad to see such a well respected store sink to this level. Unless new management comes in, I will never do business with this company again.
I had a great experience with S.K. Lavery. I was working with Chad and he was very informative and helpful. I havent a clue when it comes to fridges and with his vast knowledge on the appliances they sell, he assisted me with picking a lovely Bosch fridge. It came right on time and in great condition. I highly recommend them and refuse to go anywhere else for my appliances in the future! Thanks Chad!
The people from S.K. Lavery know their products. Chad was especially helpful in us finding a new electric stove. The guys that delivered the stove were extremely polite and they were in and out of my in in fifteen minutes. I will buy here again
It was time to replace our fridge and we looked everywhere trying to figure out what we wanted. The staff at other places we looked seemed disinterested in answering all but a few questions with most everything on backorder. Thats when we pulled into SK Lavery where we were warmly greeted by Chad. He was patient with our questions and clearly has a grasp of product knowledge We bought our french door fridge that day. It took some weeks to get the product in due to backorders but even this was communicated clearly. Delivery and installation were professionally done. A few months since then and we still love our fridge and will be returning to Chad at SK Lavery for our next appliance purchases.
Terrible experience with them! Do not even consider buying your appliances from them. They will never update you on anything. A fridge that was suppose to take a couple weeks actually ended up taking months to come in and never called to let us know. They charged us for installation for our wall oven and upon arriving said that only had included connecting the wires and left it on the floor. Take my word and buy your appliances elsewhere!
Might have been a good company in the past but completely unreliable. They had assured us they service and repair the appliances they sell…. Nope. They won’t come out and won’t stand by the equipment after recommending and stating this is no problem to fix if it breaks. We spent $25k with these people and it doesn’t mean anything to them. On top of that they will never get back to you with install dates/times and general inquiries. You have to stay on them if you want anything done.
Very disappointing customer service from this company. I tried to purchase an A/C in a very hot week in July - I have an elderly mother. Salesperson promised a day and time slot a week later. So I set aside my work schedule for the delivery date and time agreed upon (wages lost for me in doing so) only to find on delivery day that they couldnt deliver in the time slot promised. I had to call them when they didnt show and the sales agent was cold and aloof, informing me that I would have to wait another week to get on the schedule! I left a message for owner who never even bothered to call me back. If you buy from them, hold them accountable for shoddy business practices.
We purchased a refrigerator in July 2020, knowing that supply chain problems might mean waiting a couple of months. It ended up taking 10 months, which would have been fine, if there had been any level of contact or updates that we didnt have to initiate ourselves. We called every couple of months and were basically told that they knew nothing and we could either keep waiting or lose our place in line. Sometimes it went beyond New-England-brusque to downright rude. Finally, when we called in May, we insisted that they look into our place in line. They happened to have a fridge that was identical except for how the freezer was configured, so we got it. If we hadnt called, wed probably still be waiting forever while they sat on our money. The delivery wasnt much better, polite but rushed at the end of the delivery run. My wife had to ask them to push it up against the wall, because they were leaving it in the middle of the kitchen, basically no installation, just carried in. Overall, a good fridge, but a very poor level of customer service. We recommend looking elsewhere when purchasing appliances.
Remodeled the whole kitchen last year I got all my appliances from them! I need service they are not reliable and very bad with customer service!I do not recommend this company at all
I’ve been buying my appliances from SK Lavery for over 20 years. As a fan of local family run businesses, I think Bruce and his team are the best in the state! Believe me, I’ve compared prices and shopped around. It’s not only the best price, but the service and their knowledge base as the primary differentiators. For high-end appliances (Wolf and Viking), it could be very technical, specific, and almost always with installation required. Recently, Jeremy Seip helped coordinate a simple inquiry into an order, and installation. I’m smiling and I’m grateful for their professionalism. Go visit their showroom, I think you will be thankful too!
Worst experience ever! They sold me a lemon machine that broke after 1 week then wanted a $99 restocking fee to return it. Chad told me it was because I didn’t buy a better washer and made me feel like it was my fault. I had to fight with them over the fee, even tho I purchased another more expensive washer from them. I had to wait 5 weeks for a new machine to come and they kept lying about the delivery date. I fought twice to get them to deliver and finally told them after being promised they better put my washer on the next truck and still had to wait another week😡. I’m disabled and could not get to the laundromat on my own. What an inconvenience this was! The only positive was their delivery guys were so nice. Very professional and kind. My washing machine was purchased in the Newington store and I dealt with Kevin and Chad
I felt totally ripped off! When we did our kitchen remodel we moved our stove to the kitchen island and we needed an exhaust fan over the stove that would exhaust to the outside. The salesman said “no problem, we just need to send our guy out to measure, at a cost of $50 (prepaid)”. Sadly the guy they sent to measure told me he would not be installing the fan the way we wanted it, and that he would be only recirculating the exhaust air back into my home, or exhausting it into the attic space. When we went to the store to complain about their contractor we received no satisfaction and no refund for sending me someone who wouldn’t quote the job as requested. Be careful with this company, don’t believe the hype in their advertising!!Update (6 months later): Immediately after I posted this comment a representative of the company left me a voicemail to please contact them. The person didnt clearly state their name but I called back within minutes of receiving the voicemail and I attempted to contact the caller. Unfortunately the stores phone system didnt have an option to speak to a representative, so I left a detailed message to the person listed in their system whose name most closely resembled the garbled name on the message that I received. No one ever contacted me again, but low and behold the store recently posted a reply to my review indicating the job couldnt be completed as requested, which is an absolute lie. In my professional life at the time I was a Construction Project Manager, so I knew the project could be completed quite easily as requested. I later purchased my exhaust fan unit from the internet and hired a handyman to complete the installation and it came out beautifully with no complications. How sad that this has had to drag out for this long. If the store had just refunded my original $50 none of these comments would be posted for all to see (I immediately requested a refund after they wasted my time by sending out an inadequate contractor to measure the job). Now that they have resorted to posting a completely false response to my comment I felt like I had to set the record straight. Best of luck to all the appliance buying folks out there, dont forget that you have many other options than a store that will waste your time and then lie about it on the internet. Im attempting to attach a photo of the completed installation.
Both times that I called, I received excellent customer service. Chad absolutely saved my life when he got me a dishwasher within a week after mine died over a month ago. I had ordered one elsewhere, but it was on backorder.I am so very grateful and will continue to do business with you in the future. The service was fantastic, as was installation. Thank you so very much!!
Wonderful prices, that are comparable to the big box stores. Salesmen was helpful, and very knowledgeable. I would recommend Kevin to anyone going in the store.
Would give 0 Stars if I could. A very poor first impression with SK Lavery. My parents have been doing business with them for years and they purchased a washer and dryer for my Wife and myself as a housewarming gift. The delivery men showed up with the Washer and not the dryer, which we came to learn was actually suppose to go to someone else.It was very difficult to reach someone in the office to resolve this customer service issue. When we finally did, Chad was disrespectful and condescending toward my Mother, who prior to delivery confirmed all details of order and rechecked it to make sure it was right as we planned the delivery for when we came back from our Honeymoon.SK Lavery takes in more orders than they can fulfill and Robs Peter to Pay Paul constantly. Rock bottom customer service where the blame is constantly passed around and ultimately the delivery people are the ones getting chewed out undeservingly for errors made by people on the backend. 5/5 Stars to Luis and the delivery team. These guys should get raises for all the customer service complaints that they have to hear as just being the middle men.Shame on SK Lavery for their poor business model and the way they treated my family during this process.
Great experience. Sales team was very knowledgeable and quick to respond to questions, and provide pricing and delivery.
Good service and prices. Returned my call promptly after I purchased an appliance and had a question.
Product was back ordered for months even though I was told it would be there the month I purchased it. Then I was told it wouldnt be there until August we purchased the stove in April. PC Richards had it in stock and delivered same week.
By far the worst service possible. And the manager Kevin made it all worse. I understand things being backed up from covid, but when you call and it gets pushed for months it’s no longer ok. I even asked if at that point if they would throw install as it was $179 to install a dishwasher. They refused to waive the fee. There was 0 communication from the store and we had to continue to follow up. At one point we were even told they were backordered after waiting a few months.Oh but the entire time it was on the website and wasn’t marked as being backordered.I don’t know what happened to this company - but pay a little extra and go straight to a Lowe’s or Home Depot. It will save you the headache and maybe actually get you the item when you are supposed to.
I bought my dishwasher in October and it was delivered 4 months later. Thats fine, I totally understand we are in a pandemic. The delivery people dropped it off and left. I called my salesperson Jeremey who said I didnt request installation. I said yes I did. Instead of being apologetic he was arrogant, did not apologize, and scheduled me for the following Saturday (today is Monday) and said he figured I wouldnt want to take another day off from work during the week. Well no, not if its a difference between Friday and Saturday, Friday being the earliest he could offer. So here I am with this huge box in my small kitchen for the next 5 days. This is the first negative review Ive ever posted to Google reviews and Im sorry to have to do it but I absolutely do not feel like a valued customer of this company.
Worst service ever! Mid-June 2020, we purchased a refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, and stove. When delivered, the movers dented 3 sides of the refrigerator in the process of installation. They also gouged and scratched up my sisters beautiful hardwood floors and stairs - for which we have received no compensation. We sent photos at the time, and the movers and Laverys acknowledged all of these issues at that time. Since last June, we have called Lavery every 2 weeks looking for a delivery date for a replacement for the damaged refrigerator. Two weeks ago, late March 2021, we asked if we could get a slightly bigger model and pay the difference, and the larger refrigerator was delivered within days. After the damaged fridge was replaced, the full value of the replacement was billed to my credit card, rather than the cost difference between the two models. Their error was corrected only after a long phone call. On 4/6/2021, I received another call about owing more money on the refrigerator because of the credit I had been given last June on the damaged fridge. No credit had been given, which the bookkeeper later acknowledged. Our extended family has used SK Lavery for all appliances for the last 75 years. S.K. Laverys performance in this instance has been confused, unprofessional, unsatisfactory, unresponsive, and unfriendly. We will never buy from S.K. Lavery again.
Today was delivery and install day for my dishwasher. Leigh or Lee called me TWO HOURS before they were scheduled to arrive on location to say their third part install company (Bills Appliances) didn’t have enough staff to do the install and told me I would need to reschedule. I asked her if they would do anything to compensate me for the inconvenience to which she responded she didn’t have the authority to do anything but reschedule my install. I asked to speak with a manager that could help me and she refused to put the manager on the phone. I then asked for a return phone call and she said she would have a manager call me back. I waited an hour for the manager to call me. Still no phone call. I went to the Glastonbury location that I purchased the appliances from to speak with the manager of the location in person. When I arrived I told them what happened and the manager texted the Newington location and asked what happened to which he was told I was incredibly rude on the phone and was derogatory to her (definitely wasn’t as the phone call was recorded on my home security camera to prove I wasn’t which the manager didn’t even take the time to view and verify). At this point I was told the owner said that he was going to protect his employees and he didn’t want my business to refund my ticket and tell me to leave the store and not return, he didn’t need my business. Completely taken aback I let them refund my money and I left the store, pretty upset at the way I was treated and definitely not satisfied. I arrived back to work and received a phone call from the manager of the Glastonbury location saying he was sorry and didn’t want to delay my project anymore since the appliances were already there I could come and pick they up and purchase them again, but they wouldn’t be able to install. Frustrated that there is a shortage of appliances right now I reluctantly went back and just purchased and picked up the appliances I should have had delivered and installed today. The manager in Glastonbury is a stand up guy and he is honestly the only reason I went back to purchase. However the owner and his lying minion from the Newington location can rest assured I will let everyone know about this experience and to take their business elsewhere. Keep treating people like they are dispensable and see how long your business stays open and profitable.
My experience at S.K. Lavery was horrible. very rude staff, didnt seem like that they want to help, every sales representative provides different information. i went there to buy washer and dryer, first they told me that installation will cost 100 dollars, then another sales represenative said that installation is free but when atlast i was about to pay another sales representative said that installation will cost 100 dollars. i dont even how they are running it.. horrible customer service. never going back there.
I bought a washing machine for my grandma from S.K. Lavery and ended up getting a good discount on a floor model! The people are very friendly and helpful. My grandparents have been using their service for many years and have had no issues. They also do not charge for installation and disposal of old appliances. I will definitely do business here again!
Ordered an LG Window Air Conditioner from SK Lavery. Aside from the fact that the AC is incredible, the service at SK Lavery was excellent. Communication with the store was great. The unit was backordered, as it was everywhere, but they kept me in the loop for an ETA. When they delivered, even though its just a window AC, they brought it to the room, and window where I was installing. Might seem trivial, but its a heavy unit, and carrying it from my front steps to the install spot wouldve been rough. This is my 3rd purchase from SK Lavery, and would absolutely buy from them again.
I purchased 4 appliances from the Glastonbury store. Eric was very helpful and knowledgeable about their products. He was able to match quotes that I had received from Home Depot. Install and hook up was much easier and cheaper than HD offered. Bryant and Des went over and above when they delivered my refrigerator. Win win!!
I appreciate the service received from S.K. Lavery from the store to my home. They were able to get my new refrigerator delivered the next day. The two men that took out the old refrigerator and brought the new one were polite, helpful, and put everything back that they may have moved or adjusted. As I understand, they service the appliances as well. It couldnt have been a better experience. If course, they have been in WeHa for over 90 years. So they are doing something right.
Unlike big box stores I didnt have to find someone to help me. They found me 😊. Price was comparable to online deals with personal service. Support local stores.
I was very pleased with the salesman, Jeremy and SK Lavery in West Hartford. Jeremy was patient and knowledgeable about the products and he helped me choose the best appliances for my space. Jeremy also emailed a quote and was responsive to my emails. His prices beat 2 other appliance stores. Delivery was prompt and the delivery men and installers did a great job. I would not hesitate to shop at SK Lavery in West Hartford.Hopefully my appliances will operate for many years to come.
I rarely write reviews but I had to say how pleased I am with the service I received from SK Laverly. From my salesperson Will to the 2 delivery & set up men, (sorry I didnt get their names). I couldnt have asked for or expected more professional service. And, they offered free delivery, free removal of my old oven and free set up the new one. No extra charges not even for the cord that the big box store wanted to charge an additional $30 for. Excellent, friendly, professional with a competitive lower price (all things considered), what more could anyone want? Great job!
Had our washing machine fail on us and luckily found S.K. Lavery! For being such an inconvenience for our family, Will our salesman, made the process very easy. He provided me with options and helped me choose the right machine for us, all in a very timely manner! Great customer service! I highly recommend working with them!
JUST STAY AWAY
Replaced a 17 year old GE Advantium microwave with new one from S K Lavery. Installers were the best ever to come to my home. Friendly, courteous, cleaned up after themselves - job well done!
I was looking for a 2017 model Speed Queen washer and dryer. I am not fond of government regulations saying what makes an appliance efficient, I will be the judge of that. That being said, I didnt want the 2018 model. I called their store and they did still have the 2017 model in stock. I was able to place my order over the phone with Kevin (who was very nice). Two days later I took delivery on my new washer and dryer. The deliverymen were right on time, efficient, careful and professional. I would absolutely do business with them again and encourage potential customers to give them a chance. If you have an experience like mine, you will be more than satisfied!
SK Lavery hands down, is by far the EASIEST and most honest place to conduct business. I buy my stuff over the phone from Mike in Glastonbury, and always try to send business to the fine folks over in west Hartford. Delivery and haul away for no charge is still the BEST service one can offer. On top it all, they have the BEST prices. Buy with confidence, and trust SK Lavery with all your appliance and home furnishing needs. YOU WILL NOT BE SORRY!
Fast, efficient, no BS service from Kevin and a great price!
Purchased a new GE gas range. The range is just as Will described it. I love it. They gave me the best price. I got prices from other big Storeplaces, not only did they beat them, they gave me extras! Delivery and set up was in the exact time frame we discussed. I could not be happier with my purchase from them. There is really no need to shop anywhere else. Give them a try. You have nothing to lose, and you will be pleasantly surprised.
Great customer service. Kevin was very helpful. We went in just to get an idea as to what type of range would best fit our needs, and walked out with a purchase of a great GE range and hood vent.
Why a horrible experience! We like to support smaller businesses and family owned companies, and typically have great service but in this case, it was quite the opposite. The freezer was delivered late and there was ZERO communication on it. To make up for it, I was told I would be discounted 10% (that never came through FYI). Then the company was unable to remove my cabinets in order to switch out the appliances, so they told me I had to hire someone to do that on my own, couldn’t even SUGGEST where to go for that. So I find someone, the guy who comes to look at it said SK Lavery was wrong and the cabinets could be removed and proceeded to SHOW ME. Amazing how this it can figure that out in 1 minutes but SK Lavery doesn’t 40 minutes scratching their heads. After arguing with SK Lavery for two weeks on this, they STILL couldn’t do the job to my satisfaction so I told them I wanted my money back. They begrudgingly obliged (it was not easy getting them to hand over a refund) but didn’t even credit my properly! I had used two different credit cards to purchase the freezer and the sales MANAGER (yes the ringleader of this circus act of a company) credited it all to one, screwing up my balances with both credit card companies, forcing me HOURS of calling and goin back and forth to settle. Whenever I call, no one answers, and no one gets back to you. The sales people are very curt and it seems as if they do not have any communication with each other, as each one will give you a different answer. The most God-awful experience I have ever had after owning my home for 40 years. I will NEVER use this company and I hope they go out of business for their lack of abilities in service.
Was looking for the best place to find my new fridge at, got referred by a friend to visit S.K. Lavery and see if they could help out. Sure enough I found the exact type of fridge I was searching for for a great price at that! Thank you again for the exceptional help! Highly recommended
We were very pleased with our experience here. Or salesperson knew his stuff, and was able to answer any questions that we had very quickly, either in person or via email. They were one of the few stores that carry the brand we were looking for, but dont be put off if youre looking for mainstream brands, they have an entire 2nd floor dedicated to more common brands, whereas a good portion of the main floor showroom you can see from the front of the store is higher and appliances. The pricing on their extended warranties is excellent compared to the competition, and they do have their own in-house service people. Parking can be limited if you come at a busy time of day (this is in West Hartford Center after all, and parking is always at a premium).
The in-store service itself was great. Salesperson was knowledgeable, friendly and quickly helped me find the right refrigerator. I was in and out of the store quickly with delivery scheduled for two days later. That part was a 5 star experience. My delivery time slot was 9-1pm. At 1:10pm there was no sign of the truck and no call to give me a reason for the delay. I called the store and was told theyd check with the delivery guys and call me right back. Forty minutes later, no call back and no sign of the truck. I called again and was told the truck was 35 minutes away still with no explanation for the delay. Finally at 230 the truck arrives. Install was fine but afterwards I noticed they did a poor job of removing all the plastic from the outside of the fridge.Delays happen, I get that. But a 4 hour window is pretty large and then not proactively contacting me and not having any explanation for why is inexcusable. Next time I need an appliance Im not sure Ill be willing to waste another full day waiting for a truck.
Very disappointed...went there yesturday to purchase a washer and dryer. Called an hour later with a question then again before they closed and no return call either time!!!!! Called PC Richards last night and purchased both over the phone!
We loved the Glastonbury store. Dealt with Eric Sharp - not pushy, very helpful and we liked the dedicated appliance store, rather than the big box store shopping. When you focus on one thing you do it well! Very attentive one to one assistance. thanks Eric!
I had a great experience at S K Lavery in West Hartford Center. My fiancé and I just came in to purchase a new Weber grill and were thrilled with the customer service we received. We even got to try some smoked pork that they cooked that morning! A great group of employees who were helpful and considerate.
I just went in to purchase a new vacuum and was thoroughly impressed with the level of customer service and attentiveness. All of the staff members seemed knowledgeable about the products and were able to answer all of my questions from service to warranties. Highly recommend this location !
The Sub Zero refrigerator we ordered was delivered on time. The old one removed and the new one installed in a matter of a few hours. The delivery people took great pains to not hit any walls or scuff/ crack the tiles. The installation was performed expertly and the functions fully explained. Very satisfied with our entire experience sales - delivery - installation - follow-up.
I had a wonderful shopping experience here, and the manager (Dan) was extremely knowledgeable about all the products there. Dan helped me choose an Electrolux washer that was a perfect fit for us. We have had it for 6 months and we definitely made the right choice. The product range and service level here far exceeds that of the big box retailers; I highly recommend this place.
After purchasing our washer and dryer, we were having issues with our washer and Kevin jumped right on it and helped us get it resolved. They provided amazing customer service, took away our old washer and dryer for free and delivery was seamless. I would definitely recommend them to a family member or friend and would shop here again!
I wish SK Lavery sold time machines so I could buy one then go back and purchase my appliances from another store. Then again, I’d probably still be waiting for it. The service is poor. The communication is poor-er. Buy from someone who will actually care about your business. SK Lavery did not care about mine.
Eric was very helpful in the selection of the spare garage ready refrigerator for our garage. He followed up several times with the warehouse because it was backordered. He resolved a needed part with professionalism and courteous manor. I would not hesitate to purchase from Eric again.
Would never recommend. Went there a few months ago to support local business, had used SK once before no prob. This time was polar opposite. First went back about start of summer with cash in hand to buy a new oven. Sales associate could not have been less helpful. In no rush and sensing he wasnt interested in selling me an oven, I left and came back midsummer. Next salesman was a manager and was helpful enough in finding what I wanted in my price range. He did try to sell me a last remaining floor model that I declined because it had features I didnt care for, and it was colorized so it didnt match my home. Bought oven and arranged delivery for the following week. Next week were 1 hour into the delivery window when I get a call from the salesman that they cant deliver. Computer shows they have the item, yet they dont have it. No prob, we arrange delivery for the next week. Next week at the start of the delivery window I get the same call again- we dont have the oven although it shows we have it. At this point the sales manager offers to sell me that floor model I mentioned that didnt fit my place. I declined. He tells me o.k., you could have an oven being installed today, but you had to go the cheaper route. What?! Really?! I ignored the insult and said I wanted the oven I paid for. He said he would get back to me. Days pass with no word. I have to call and leave a message. Days pass again and finally I get a call, we have your oven and will deliver/install on X date. Delivery day comes and the installers remove the old, put in the new, but they cant get it fully installed. During this time one installer came in and tells the other theres a problem outside. I thought nothing of it. The installer inside tells me he cant get the electric components installed, it doesnt fit, and he starts packing up, leaving all the electric components hanging out on my floor. I tell him we cant leave it like that, he cuts a hole in a drawer, throws it in, and leaves. Now Im upset and look at the install instructions. My kitchen looks just like the diagram, so how is it it didnt fit?? Now my attention turns to that problem outside and I go look. I can see they dropped the old oven on the driveway, breaking glass everywhere, and didnt bother to clean it up or tell me. Then I see what appears to be a urine stain at the top of my driveway. Really? Cant be!! But I saw where they parked, theres an outline of where the truck was between the broken glass from the end of the truck and the spots on the driveway where the truck leaked engine fluid and this stain is not from under the truck. Now Im upset. I take pics of everything and send an email to SK asking to speak with the owner, detailing the sales managers insult, delivery troubles, non-install delivery, and the glass and urine in my driveway. I explained that in this day/age this is where people tend to take to social media to detail service as poor as what I received, but Id rather they try to fix/compensate for their errors by refunding me the delivery/install fee and getting someone who knows what theyre doing to complete my install. NEVER heard from SK again. Instead the head of their install service calls, he wants to see everything. Days later he comes and identifies that the 1st installer used the wrong parts and did the job wrong. Doesnt want to believe the urine story and starts quizzing me on whether it stained the driveway, etc. I can only confirm his questions, he has nothing except disbelief. Guy did finish the install. So what did I get from the SK experience? The sales manager insulted me. They couldnt deliver when scheduled, could not install, and they peed on my driveway and made a mess. Worst is that when given the chance to correct themselves, they didnt bother, and I was charged $300 for that delivery/install, no apology, nothing. That sales manager is the same one in their commercials that ask why you would use a big box store. Well, this is why.
This is my go to for appliances. Kevin from the West Hartford store is knowledgeable, patient and efficient. I bought 3 appliances from him and have never been disappointed.
SK Lavery is a great place to go for appliance shopping. Their knowledge and expertise is much better than a big box store, and their pricing is actually the same if not better. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for appliances.
Had to buy a new refrigerator so Mom and I went there as they were one of only a few places that had the exact fridge we needed. Ryan, the salesperson was great! Only had to wait 3 days for delivery. The delivery guys were great as well. There were a few cosmetic dings and scratches we noticed right after everything was set up so we called Ryan who knocked off some $$ for the inconvenience. We didnt want to have to go through having another one delivered. So far, so good with the fridge.
Terrible experience with this company - will NEVER step foot in their store again!Spoke to Alex in Glastonbury who showed me several dishwashers and I chose one that was reasonable within my price range. When asked which 4 hour window of delivery I wanted I was unable to get on their “guest WiFi” and asked if he could help - he could not (mind you the store was empty of customers)I walked across the street to get free WiFi and pulled up my work schedule knowing I would have to take time off of work (no paid time off) and sit to wait for a delivery.Alex called me Wednesday, prior to a Friday delivery, to let me know the dishwasher might not be here for Friday. I didn’t really care when t arrived but wanted to know so I could then work. I called Thursday and asked a differed salesperson if the delivery was still ok time. He confirmed it was. I even called Today, Friday, and spoke to another salesperson to assure that the dishwasher was in fact on the delivery route and it was confirmed to be.1:06 today, delivery day of Friday, Alex calls to tell me that the dishwasher did not make it on the truck and would have to be delivered next week. Huh? I let him know of my two previous phone calls and all of the confirmations his store had given me and asked if there was a way to get some compensation for my time. Maybe a discount on the install fee? Something given I took the afternoon off.He told me he would call back and for 3 hours I waited for him to- 4:00 rolls around and he has yet to return my call so I call him and his response was that they can’t help me and “we never asked you to take the afternoon off”????I work for a small business in Glastonbury and we bend over backwards to assure our customer service is top notch and that we take care of others each and every day. This was unbelievable and I while I would have rather shopped local.. I guess a big box store will be getting my needs met this time!
Buyer beware!!!We went to SK Lavery in December 2017 to buy a new stove. Salesman (Kevin) talked us into a new washer and dryer. Now our existing ones worked just fine, but they were ugly (prior owners got from scratch and sent) and I was lured by the pretty new ones. I was initially looking at Samsung models on clearance, but Kevin told me how bad Samsung is and how many service calls they get on them, and recommended Electrolux.Everything worked fine for exactly 19 months, when the dryer started shaking and rattling, sounding like it was going to take off like an airplane when it would come to a stop. SK Lavery says, sorry, not under warranty. It’s $100 just to get someone to come out. Oh, and that doesn’t go toward the repair!! So now I’m out that plus the actual repair cost, on a brand new dryer that I didn’t even need.Save your money and buy at Home Depot. My prior low end dryer was going for 10 years strong without a single issue. I could have bought 3 of those for what I paid for this one. But I didn’t need to, because it never broke.I will never do business with SK Lavery again. All the appliance stores match each other’s prices, so I’ll choose one that actually cares about their customers and stands behind the products they sell/push.
The sales persons at S.K Lavery were very knowledgeable & efficient. The deliver & installation person was very professional and efficient! Although the prices may be a little higher than the big box stores, I would rather support the smaller companies and get the delivery time frame and service that I am looking for. As I slowly switch over my kitchen appliances, I will be sure to return to S.K. Lavery.
Just terrific from the start, with Kevin, who was very knowledgeable and easily answered my questions, to the finish, with the installer, who was very nice and knowledgeable as well. He also totally cleaned up! I will definitely go back!
I recently purchased my rage top from SK Lavery at the West Hartford location. Ryan was very helpful and knowledgeable when it came to finding exactly what I needed. The customer service at this location exceeded my expectations and will definitely be shopping here again.
We needed a new dishwasher the week of Easter, SK Lavery was so helpful and knowledgable about the product. The customer service and delivery was exceptional. I would not go anywhere else for my appliances. I love my new Bosch dishwasher. Thank you.
I am disappointed with SKLavery. We just had a new kitchen designed. Ordered appliances on 1/28/17 with a delivery date of 3/31. We had a plumber and electrician on site to aid in hooking up appliances. Only the refrigerator was delivered. All else on back order. We paid both plumber and electrician a house call. Lavery said they would provide those services when they redelivered on 4-11. Never happened however, did charge my card for balance. We are still trying to get an electrician out here...not easy. Lavery turned our dream kitchen into a disaster. This is our 3rd full kitchen with Lavery; unfortunately, our last.
Had a great experience shopping there. Mr. Cashman was more than helpful showing me which smoker would suite my needs. Definitely will return as a repeat customer in the future!
They have the best appliances and the friendliest ora i ever been around
SK Lavery is an outstanding business. Great inventory and customer service. Purchased a stovetop, grill and oven from them and will absolutely continue to give them business when in need of a new appliance.
We purchased a washer and because we have a high drain pipe (6 1/2 ft) this was the first thing we told the salesman. He told us this would not be a problem. The washer came with a standard hose and the delivery man had no information concerning our hook up. He duct taped together a piece of an old hose, and left. The drain leaked water on the first use. After multiple calls, and complaints another service man came and said they should have ordered a longer hose to be attached before delivery. Instead we now have another hose attached with a clamp, which leaked again. We went to SK Lavery as it was recommended for having exceptional service.I am not happy and once this issue gets resolved, if ever, I will buy future appliances elsewhere.I have contacted Speed Queen directly and am waiting for an answer from them as to a solution to this problem. I am disappointed that I have to do this on my own. This is not good service by anyones standards.I am also awaiting a call back from SK Lavery as to how to proceed.Hoping for a resolution soon.Sorry to have had this awful experience.
Had new oven delivered. That went well enough, found bake element was not working on brand new oven! Called service, tech looked at oven, and said he will have to order part. Part took one week to arrive plus two days just to schedule replacement. Serviceman will arrive between 9-1. It is now after 1. Still waiting! I have had to wait four plus hours, plus about two weeks since delivery to use oven that had no bake just broil. I always try to use local small business when possible but if this is the result then I will just stick to big box store.
Had our Speed Queen washer delivered yesterday. Our salesman, Ryan, was very knowledgable and helpful throughout the process. The delivery crew gave us a heads up on their way over and had been very careful when going through the house. Will be going there in the coming weeks to purchase my new grill.
We dealt with Mike Ciparelli initially (now in the Glastonbury store) as a sales person, and he was terrific. Very rarely these days do you find sales people who are very knowledgeable and professional and have actually been to out-of-town training conferences to learn about the products they sell. We were surprised at the way that other retailers of the expensive appliance that we were interested in seemed disinterested in even giving us a few minutes of their time and did nothing to get us information. They shrugged their shoulders when asked questions and made no effort to really sell us. On top of that, SK Lavery provided free delivery and the product showed up when it was supposed to. We have only had the appliance for three days, but so far, so good!
SK Lavery is the only place Ill go for appliances! My salesman, Will, was friendly and very knowledgable about the products. The delivery crew is super terrific and professional. Wouldnt go anywhere else!
I have purchased several appliances from SK Lavery and been very satisfied. The service has been great, and the delivery team is always courteous and professional. I will be using them again!
I found the sales staff courteous and helpful, printing out product info sheets as we browsed the appliances. My delivered eltrolux fridge was not making ice (prob my fault for looking at the water filter and not hitting reset) so Mike called around for service help and had the former Melzens repairman there the next day and was very, very knowledgeable and professional and all is well. They stayed in touch with me as I with them, something not so easily done in big box stores. I now have 3 new appliances from the Glastonbury store and will gladly stay with them.
Our Frigidaire range broke unexpectedly a week before we were having 26 people at our house for a party so we needed a new stove/oven fast. We did some research and decided to go with a Samsung Induction top with dual oven. SK Lavery in West Hartford not only beat Home Depots and Best Buys price by $600 they were able to deliver it to our house in two days and take away our old range. The other retailers were estimating 2-4 weeks for delivery and charged extra for the power cord! Ryan helped us purchase our new range and set up delivery. It was fast, easy and we are so happy with it. We will definitely go back to SK Lavery for our future appliance needs!
We purchase a whirlpool fridge Less than a month ago. The fridge stop working thank God for having a warranty. The communication and response for getting a answer from management is terrible. We lost over 50 dollars of foodWe just received our fridge back after a month later.Thank God they let us used a renter. Will not go back !
At the suggestion of a relative (after a bad experience at a big box store), I went to S.K. Lavery for a new refrigerator. The sales rep, Will Cashman, was extremely helpful. I ended up getting a KitchenAid French Door unit and I love it. Mr. Cashman even offered to come to my home to measure the space where the fridge was going (because it was a bit of an awkward space in an older house), trying to help me get the larger of the two choices (yes, I was able to get it, making me even happier). The delivery and set-up guys were on time, courteous and answered all of my questions. They unpacked the refrigerator totally and took all of the packing materials away, too...not something the big box store guys did. Overall, I am completely satisfied with S.K. Lavery and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for appliances for their home. I also purchased a GE portable dishwasher at the same time --- less involved to deliver and install, but a smooth transaction none the less. A+++
Much damage to my house during delivery of a major appliance, and I still can not get them to cover repair costs. Legal action will follow. At another time their installer dropped an AC unit from a 2nd floor window to the patio below. BUY AT YOUR OWN RISK. PLEASE NOTE: Within hours after posting this review, I received a check from S.K. Lavery to cover my repair costs. Therefore, they have covered my repair costs.
I was going to write a long, detailed report of everything that happened over the last 3 weeks and I just got so disheartened by the entire experience, Ill keep my review simple:Dont waste your money, time, or attention with SK Lavery. On their website, it says:The main difference is our people; we have great people... We treat everyone in the manner we wish to be treated. Were nothing without our customersIm not sure if that only applies to the people who come in to buy $20,000 fridges, but if youre only buying $3,500 in new appliances, they sure dont live up to their motto. After 3 weeks of broken promises, outright lies, and still not delivering all the appliances I bought, frankly the only thing they could do to make it right (sorry Bruce, but a 5 year warranty that doesnt cost you a penny, and another promised delivery date for next week wont quite cut it) would be to give me my old appliances back, refund the full cost of what I bought, and let me give my business to someone else. And even that wouldnt undo my decision to walk in the store in the first place...Needless to say I wont be calling on them for service in the next 5 years. I only wish I could give them 0 stars because the 1 seems entirely too generous.
Originally purchased a washer/dryer from L*wes for what would a difficult setup due to the location of the laundry room at the back of the kitchen. I actually brought pictures to show them the setup would require lifting the appliances over the counter, but was told no problem. The delivery guys showed up and said no way, but they did offer to leave the washer and dryer in the drive way... thanks L*wes!I then went to SK Lavery and was also told setup wouldnt be a problem, and guess what, it was no problem. Holding off on 1 star as I have yet to use them for service, but I did become a return customer having recently purchased a gas range from theme.
If I could have given this place no stars, I would have. I bought a range, microwave and dishwasher that were not cheap. I have had extensive problems with each of them and all Lavery said came out a couple of times) was to contact the manufacturer. They wanted nothing to do with me and were of no help in dealing with the manufacturer. Do Not Buy electrolux appliances and DO NOT use Lavery, They do not stand behind what they sell.
Salesperson was great. Product was just as they said
All those 1 star people are most likely overreacting, this is America and everyone thinks theyre entitled to everything. Anyways...My experience at S.K.Lavery was great. I didnt feel uncomfortable or pressured at all like you might find at a place like P.C Richards and Sons YUK. I was offered a great price for my washer and dryer (which is an Electrolux by the way and works great). I asked for some details and they printed out all the technical specs right there for me (measurements were important).I cant emphasize enough how they were not salesman-ish at all, just helpful knowledgeable and friendly.
My Dad arrived for his visit the same day my new Frigidaire Gas Range arrived. I was pleased to inaugurate my beautiful new appliance and cook for my Dad! So far, I LOVE THIS RANGE!!!Thanks for your help Dan, and, btw - the fellas who delivered it were terrific. I hope they deliver my next purchase. They were very careful of walls and woodwork and most pleasant and helpful. They removed a 300 lb 1940 range that was beyond either repair or restoration with no complaint. Great Job.My only suggestion is to have all your delivery people take a few lessons from the ones who delivered my range (please look up their names and extend my compliments to their supervisor). My tenants happy with their new Frigidaire Fridge; and my Frigidaire A/C and dehumidifier are humming along very nicely. Whirlpool french door fridge, a Best Buy, in Consumer Reports, also going well after 18 mos.Havent cooked since my husbands passing -- that;s a while without a working range. Im looking forward to normal meals now! Youve been so patient and helpful. Thanks.Prices beat Holloways, another local appliance department store in Simsbury.Dan Saunders, thank you for YOUR HELP. You did a terrific job understanding my needs and helping me find the range that would be just right for my home. Youve helped me a lot these past 18 mod since my husbands passing. Your advice was spot on. I remain most appreciative.
WORST COMPANY EVER. Smug, unhelpful, dont return calls, dont stand behind product. Really a pity as they used to have great reputation; my mother in law bought all her appliances here. Note that **5 OF THE 14 REVIEWS** before mine also give one star so the relatively positive-looking number you see is deceptive. (With my review, that is SIX out of 14 giving 1 star, and that’s only because we can’t give zero. Do you really want to spend good money on such a crap shoot?) If you want more detail as to our experience: Bought expensive dual fuel range from W Hfd store. After a few years needed service; we had crossed wires as to when they were supposed to be here for service and in retaliation they were vindictive and refused to service the stove until I begged and pleaded. It was really bizarre-- like they are some sort of prima donna. Then, before we’d had the range 8 years, the oven died (Christmas eve, of course). Service call, Lavery supposed to fix it when control panel came in the following week. 2 weeks later we hadnt heard anything so we called. They said theyd get right back to us. Hours later, we called again since they had not returned call. Should have known this was not going to go well when first person we spoke with thought our range had *already* been fixed. When we finally got someone who had a clue, he told us the part is no longer made. No apologies or anything—just tough luck. And when were they going to tell us?? Lavery doesnt care about fairness or good will as they refused to refund fee for service call--and please recall we WANTED to have it fixed; its not like WE backed down; rather, THEY couldnt do the job. Truthfully they didnt want to fix it: they told my husband theyd give us a good deal on a new stove (he said wed never set foot in there again). Adding insult to injury: when I went to turn on the gas stove the first time after they left, it wouldn’t work either (before it had just been the electric oven). I was furious, called Lavery, left msg after hours asking them to call me in morning. Then I figured out their repair guy had left the range unplugged. That is not a big deal, to be sure, but unprofessional. More to the point: they did not even bother to return the call EVER—though they DID call and once again offer us a deal on a new stove. Really hard to convey how disgusted we are without using profanities. Starting over from scratch almost one month later (and already having shelled out $100), found a company out of W. Hfd. called ACTION APPLIANCE REPAIR who will send our broken control panel to a company in California that uses it as template to build new one. Service guy super nice and knowledgeable, so fingers crossed.
Remarkably poor service! These guys are completely incompetent and unreliable. Really a shame that a family owned business is so poorly run. I will never do business with S.K. Lavery again.
Picked out a grill and they delivered to my deck the same day!
Long time local business. Excellent service.
Cant even pull without being yelled at...I think everyone paying rent to these folks decide to pick up and leave. ..just awful experience
Wish I read this before buying my appliances there. This is the most unorganized, unhelpful, unfriendly, unappreciative, and so on and so one company on this planet earth. This is my first review about any company, and sure will not be the first one. I am so upset that I will write as many as possible and if I can deter one customer from buying from them, my job is done.
I have attempted to shop here twice in the past. Both times I was ignored by everyone working there for 20+ minutes. Just called to see if they had a microwave in stock and was left on hold again for 10+ minutes. Finally learned my lesson.
Never buy a product at this S.K. Lavery. Service is incredibly poor. The service people are incompetent, surly, and unhelpful in the extreme.
