Charming little cafe! Picked up coffee and breakfast burritos. The food was wonderfully delicious with fresh, no frills ingredients. The coffee was very good. The staff was super sweet and friendly. Will absolutely be making this a regular stop when I’m in town. Highly recommend.

A massive industrial area where their staff of super-talented baristas makes some of the greatest coffees. Theres a strong sense of camaraderie here, and when paired with the bright, airy atmosphere, youre likely to settle down and have a second cup someplace. And if youre not a coffee drinker, youll be addicted if you try it, and then youll be a coffee drinker. Must give it a shot!

We love Alta coffee. It is our absolute favorite. We get the bueno bowl and the veggie omelet. The service is great. The coffee is amazing. Do yourself a favor and get something with toast. Their homemade jam they serve with it is my favorite. I wish they sold it. It’s like a summer strawberry bursting in your mouth.

It was the first café I visited, and Im extremely happy with my choices. The barista was both kind and seductive. The room is both comfy and adorable. The personnel is kind, and the décor is both cozy and inviting. You may sleep, relax, utilize your smartphone or laptop, or communicate with pals. And it is a great and inviting place. Alta is the best little independent coffee shop. Whenever Im in town its a must stop for me. Their vanilla chai latte is the best!! The food is yummy too.

Quaint, little coffee shop in the Lido area of Newport Beach. You can sit inside or outside and enjoy breakfast or lunch. I loved their huevos rancheros and carrot cake and the cozy ambiance made me feel as if I were on vacation.

Love going to Alta Coffee for the turkey, bacon, and avocado wrap. Great coffee too! Like thier location, enjoy walking around this area.

Went back n for a quick bite had me be of their burritos hit the spot. Not too big but just enough to fill you up. The bacon came in crispy just like I asked. The staff is friendly and restaurant is clean.

Delicious food & coffee! We came here for a late breakfast and were impressed with the food and service. Our waitress was super friendly and helpful. The coffee was really delicious. The food and baked good were so good. A huge plus is that there are a ton of dogs here and theres a nice outdoor area. We came at a busy time on a Sunday and our wait was 30 mins for a party of 4, but if we didnt have a dog we wouldve been sat down right away. Parking was easy too. I recommend this spot!

Staff seemed grouchy, we werent sure how the order than sit down worked so we ordered online and sat down and 2 different waitresses yelled at us about it.

Ive been getting my morning coffee here a couple times a week for the last 15 years. Friendly staff with the best coffee and pastries around, and if your really hungry try the surfers burrito, sunrise sandwich, or the bueno bowl, all great for breakfast. For lunch their sandwiches are awesome and same with their salads. They used to do half sando/salad combos, not sure if they still do this with Covid and all. But all around great local owned family style business that supports local artists and local community. Its a great place to eat and hang out and support.Thanks Alta!

I have been coming here since He. high. This place is always the best. My favorite is their chai lattes, vanilla or spiced. Both are delicious. Even their food is amazing. I have never had anything that is not wonderful here. If you need something quick, get a coffee and a mixed berry scone, you wont be disappointed.

Came here while staying in Newport Beach, and it was a great find! The coffee is really delicious and my friend got a mocha that she enjoyed with oat milk. They have several milk alternatives. I ordered the pesto avocado toast which tasted fresh and came on thick toast, plenty of avocado, and scrambled eggs with a side of fruit. Everything was also reasonably priced. Its easy to walk to, had plenty of seating, and friendly staff!

This was a great hidden gem. Im wished my Nephew had introduced it to me sooner. I definitely will be visiting it again! The food was yummy and the staff were amazing!

I give this place 5 stars because everything is made in house and delicious! The flat white we ordered was definitely more of a cappuccino, but the taste was still on point. Will definitely be back again!

I have been a supporter of Alta for almost all of my adult life. My parents have been going to Alta for almost 20 years!! This place has been home to so many awesome memories... first dates, coffee with friends, family dinners, late night studying, you name it. Alta is or maybe WAS the cozy neighborhood coffee house.HOWEVER, the past few times I have visited the vibe has changed quite a bit. I cant blame the staff or the owners, but the Newport demographic is definitely changing and the cozy and local vibes I used to cherish about this place are seemingly being hijacked by fussy and impatient customers demanding the posh and polished Newport dining experience. This place is NOT that. Alta is a place that locals have cherished and felt at home for years. You have to accept it for what it is. A tiny kitchen, tiny cafe, local and friendly staff that gets to know you. I hope Alta retains its awesome, coffeehouse culture. It is such a unique and sacred piece to Newport Beach.

This place is what McCoffeeShop tries to be. It has a unique atmosphere and charm. More important, staff always makes me feel welcome, prices are good, and the carrot cake is awesome. Oh, and the coffee is great. Unlike other places, I can actually taste it, without that hint of motor oil flavor that comes from using excessive amounts of beans. Ive been a customer off and on for over 20 years and they have managed to maintain the same quality.

Stopped in at Alta Coffee for a Cappuccino and their Hot Five-Grain Cereal. It’s hard to mess up oatmeal and they certainly didn’t here at Alta. Coffee was not spectacular but I will commend them on actually serving the cappuccino with the appropriate ratio of steamed milk. It’s hard to find a place that doesn’t serve you a latte when you order a cappuccino.

This is probably the best coffee Ive ever had. My girlfriend never liked coffee before in her life. I got her a mocha and she was instantly hooked. Expect a small wait if you come during the morning rush. The food here was not the best breakfast Ive ever had but the service was great and super friendly. Alta is a nice cozy place, but When the main lady is not at cafe, the staff are unpleasant. on pandemic days they don’t give any service even in patio.

After a Google search for the best breakfast on the peninsula, 6 of us descended upon Alta...2 from Hawaii, 4 from Utah...ages from teens to 70s. Everything from food to service to ambiance was rated 5 star by all of us. Highly recommended.

A place this busy isnt usually this friendly. But this is in Orange County not LA so you can relax. They arent trying to sell you anything other than good solid food and to top your mug of coffee every chance they get.Located a nice walk from trendy shops and surrounded by a marina, this place is a nice way to start your day.

What a wonderful place to eat! I had the Surfer Burrito, and my friend had the #3 scramble(omelette). Both were awesome! The great thing about Alta is they use simple high quality ingredients to create fantastic flavors (try the ham and cheese croissant with house made strawberry jelly!).Great atmosphere and people watching, as well as a pokestop. I started coming here when I was 8 with my Dad and its mostly the same 30 years later. I definitely recommend this place for an excellent relaxing weekend brunch.

A great chill spot- the snacks are incredible, the spice chia is outstanding. 2 hour wifi is also nice. Cant blame the small businesses for limiting this, as campers hurt their capacity to earn income. The staff can be a bit prickly, however, they are quiet efficient. Overall a great locally owned place to support.

I loved it. Gives you a small town feeling your back in Boston with the owners habitating up on top. Delicious coffee and goodies to eat. Small inside but outside seating is available.

I really enjoyed my stop at Cafe Alta. Im travelling down the West Coast by bicycle and this is one of the loveliest cafes Ive stopped at (and Ive stopped at many!) - really nice atmosphere which you feel as soon as you walk in, very reasonable prices and a menu with loads of stuff I wanted to order. The tuna melt was perfect for a hungry cyclist!!

Came here a year ago To show my girlfriend Newport Beach and stumbled on Alta coffee that was so good but the big highlight there was The carrot cake. We stop by there again last Saturday as we came back from the one day Catalina trip. Of course the coffee was still amazing and had to get the carrot cake was just as good as the last time please don’t ever stop making that carrot cake! The staff there was always super cool and they are very busy so please tip your barista!

Love Alta. It has a small coffee shop feel. It is small inside but plenty of outdoor seating with space heaters. The BLTA is delicious. Spiced chi latte and carrot cake you shouldn’t pass up. Used to eat here once a week but the staff is rude. So we are looking for a new place.

This place is simply amazing. Healthy options, yummy smoothies made with healthy ingredients you have to try the Alta Coffee & Restaurant, great study spot as well. There are two levels, top has outlets, bottom doesnt. There is an outside areas as well. Plenty of seating and tons of snacks you can buy, and you could even pick up some grocery items. They also make their own food. The inside is clean, brick and wood. It is almost too good to be true. Will definitely be back.

Cute little spot. Parking can be a bit rough. The coffee we had was delicious and there were some unique breakfast choices. They had a tofu scramble for the egg-allergic in our group. Its nice to see offerings like that but we can always use more! Nice staff and an interesting vibe. Feels a bit on the Im quirky and down to earth but also a bit pretentious side but still a nice option!

The only reason Im giving the spot low stars is because of the girls at the counter. The ones that are on shift in the early morning are always either fake or rude. This morning one of the girls got upset that I asked to keep my tab open because I wanted to get breakfast a.k.a. tried to make me feel bad about living my life. She proceeded to slam the menu down on the counter. You never know what youre gonna get with these girls. If the manager/owner is reading this, I would let them go and spare yourself your loyal customers!!!

Had a burrito and nachos with houses hummus which was absolutely delicious and very large. Coffee was tasteful and service was super good. Calm and beautiful venue at little side street with no traffic. Try out the lemonade slush! Yummy!

A local favorite, this quintessential boho coffee house is what every coffee house should be. Dedicated staff, consistently good “coffee house” food, and a coffee menu that could rival any.

Nice quiet place. Staff is very professional. I always like to sit outdoors. Weekdays the breakfast is until noon. One of my 3 favorite spots for breakfast when visiting Newport Beach, which I do often. Highly recommended.

Have visited for my iced chai tea latte every day while on vacation and I am going to miss it. The chai is well spiced and the seasonal special is pumpkin which is creamy and rich.

Wonderful, funky place to go for breakfast or coffee. You feel like you are on someones back patio, sandwiched between other buildings. It has character, reputation with locals, fabulous coffee and baked goods. A good place to sit and catch up with old friends.
