By far the greatest experience Ive had walking into any hardware store weather its big box or small town!! Greeted by a awesome cashier who helped me locate what I need and had a colleague meet me there to make sure i found the product because I was absolutely confused on what exactly it was that I was looking for!! Which we found right away!! It was a great experience definitely will come back if I ever need anything else!! Great customer service and left with a smile as the cashier was amazing in getting me in and out without any problems!!

This place is great to have around the community, they have a wide range of everything but that comes at a price.

I am very pleased that Newport has this new hardware store. I was doing a maintenance job in covington on a Sunday. After driving to lowes in Florence twice for a circuit breaker that they didnt have I searched on Google for a replacement. Hoping to order from Amazon. Ace hardware showed up in the results and with some doubts that such a small store would have what I needed I drove over. Thankfully they had it and I was able to restore my clients hot water that day.

Went to buy a cordless drill. Not a single employee on the floor. I walked around for 10 minutes. Finally went to the clerk to ask her to page someone. She was friendly and paged someone to help me. No one came to help. I finally left and bought it elsewhere. Frustrating experience for sure.

They always have what I need

All I can say is employees are not very knowledgeable about products in store. 2 times I was there employees didnt know the items I was looking for. First time was 5 years ago I went there for ratchet straps I couldnt find them and asked someone for help, they had no clue what a ratchet strap was even after I described them second time was a few days ago looking for specific screws most small hardware stores carry. I thought I was over looking them and after 20 minutes I asked for help and the employee just said if we have them they are there. That wasnt any help.

Great place to avoid big box stores. Less of a selection but worth it in convenience. Now with a different social norm, found it annoying that employees were hanging at end of aisles not practicing social distancing. Also smoker standing outside door smoking. Maybe move to side of building? Glad to see cashier had protective area.

During a 5 min walk thru the store, 3 different associates stepped in to help. Ive been to two other big box stores this weekend & had to ask for assistance.

Absolutely horrible. They informed me that I could not buy anything in their store unless I had a mask on. When I told them that I had a medical condition and could not wear a mask, they said that they would not sell anything to me. They forced me to buy a mask from them and wear it before they would sell me a pair of pliers. There were like six employees who basically gathered around me and made me feel horrible for not being able to wear a mask because of a medical condition. Then, they all went out and smoked cigarettes together on the side area of the store after I checked out. These people are the absolute worst!

Called before driving there to see if they cut a key for me and explained I already had the blank. Told me yes. Got there and wouldn’t cut it for me and told me I had to purchase the key from them. What a joke.

The staff here is not very friendly or helpful. The cashier greets you at the door, but dont expect personalized service. Id much rather spend my money at Pilot Lumber where they appreciate your business and go out of their way to help.

Nice neighbor hardware store. Decent selection of items for every type of department youd come to expect in a hardware store. I was asked by an associate if I needed help, and was rang out in a quick and easy fashion. I would definitely return to this location if I needed a few fast and easy hardware items.

It is so nice to have small and friendly hardware store in the neighborhood. They always have what I am looking for. I can get in and with out any hassles. Their pricing is comparable to big hardware companies, so they do not break my bank. I really enjoy their selection of seasonal items. Always finding fun things for my yard and home at ACE.

Thomas was awesome help at Ace Hardware to day and answered all of my questions. Unlike Lowes, their competitor where I could not find any one to help me find what I needed much less answer my questions.

The employees at this store were weAring masks. But they were pulled down under their chins not covering any part of their face. Not one employee was wearing masks appropriately. No social distancing either. If you’re worried at all for your health I would not go here right now.

This place is the smallest hardware store Ive been in. It sits close to 2 of the many entrances/exits in the Newport Shopping Center, which makes it convenient to find. Its a great little store if youre desperate. Everything is overpriced compared to other hardware stores so if youre on a budget dont even bother. They sell paint & supplies, most garden needs, building materials, lawn furniture & care, tools, uhaul rentals, plumbing, farm, locks & doorknobs, poorly cared for plants & flowers, & more. Only with a very limited selection. Staff isnt very knowledgeable & thats happened every time Ive been there. It has potential but be prepared to walk out with as much information as you walked in with. I keep going back because its so close, only to leave empty handed, overcharged, or just overall disappointed.

Amazing selection

Nice mix of small enough you can get what you want and large enough they have what you need. Paint selection is good. Staff is always helpful when you need something for a project. Good prices on most hardware, lawn and garden stuff is well maintained, never had an issue with keys they cut. This isnt a home depot where youll wander lost looking for staff. You can get advice on a project and pointed to where an item is quickly. So long as you avoid the snacks, the prices for a candy bar or jerky is crazy, but who goes to a hardware store to eat?

Welcoming employees, very helpful. Giving info about where to find items, then showing me the exact shelves. Providing me with additional info to make my choice. Glad I found this on Google maps!

Ive been here several times and the staff is always nice and helpful. The store is stocked and clean looking, not just a mess of products. Prices are just a bit higher than the big guys but i would rather spend the extra to support the little guys.

A little more expensive than the big box chain stores, but they make it up with experience and friendly staff. Its never hard to find someone and they are always willing to help. If they dont the answer, they usually can find someone that does.

Had a hard time trying to return something, lost my receipt and they didnt want to accept the item even though what they did was to reprint the transition and give store credit, which was fine but they refused to accept the item from my boyfriend, I am not sure I want to buy something there unless I know I am going to use it

I went to Ace Hardware today to get hardware for a kitchen faucet repair. The sales associate was not helpful whatsoever, and the cashier was unpleasant at checkout. It was a negative experience.

Always friendly and helpful staff. Especially one guy with tattoos and longer hair- I don’t know his name but he works almost everyday and is the nicest person who is always eager to help resolve my problem. I’ve been coming to this location because he is so knowledgeable about various diy projects and is always willing to show you the best products without costing you a fortune.

Employees eager to help me find what I needed. Got in and out of the store in 5 minutes. Never did that at Home Depot or Lowes where I was always left wandering around the store looking for an employee that wouldnt run away.

Well ace employee grabbed my screen replacement while I was looking for trim screws (they dont have) and said it was up by the cashier which it wasnt because he went to the restroom so I had to go find where he left it which I was not in a good mood and tired fhen I met the unpleasant cashier she didnt even say thank you well that was the best $52 spent on attitude

That’s a nice place. I only came across one sketchy thing it was the help buying spray paint, I want to buy spray paint one day and the dude helping me was a little sketchy about it. I asked him what I needed to put on the exhaust pipe and he gave me a paint that did not work. It was heat resistant but ended up melting off anyways. I never took it back because I already used all of the paint. I wouldn’t say this is the greatest place for customer service but I do try to help. Also when I went to the Castro Street a check out there was a girl clearly under age with a Vape on the cash register it was a pretty confusing.

They don’t know nothing about what they have in there store the people are not Qualified to work there

An associate was near the door and I told him what I needed, L braces for chest drawers. He helped me find the right size and also made a new key for my house. He and the cashier were friendly and polite.

They didnt know what they were doing. We had an U-Haul reservation & we waited in line forever. But to make matters worse, they had us & another mans order for a truck mixed up & over extended theirselves on how many they had available. We ended up having to go up to Dixie Hwy U-Haul to get our truck. Dont go here. Really bad service.

U-Haul rental people were nice

Very convenient because its close to my home but they are just a little pricey not too bad but you would have go out farther for the big chain stores.

Theres only 1 young man there who knows what hes doing. The other people working there dont know there ass from a hot rock on the ground. Made a trip up there for a part they said they had and then had no clue what I was talking about, except that young man. He needs a pay raise to work with them dumb dumbs.

I purchase hardware from several different places, depending on what Im doing, but this is the place I go when I need experience and advice. Im dealing with a 125-year-old house, and little about it is standard and simple to address. Fortunately, it seems the staff members of Ace have seen most everything, and are stymied by nothing. Its a great relief when Im trying to do something for the first time. I never sense condescension or impatience. In fact, sometimes a staff member will spend so much time with me, trying to figure out the best solution for a problem, that I almost begin to feel a little guilty for tying them up.UPDATE July 2021: This is no longer the Ace Hardware I praised earlier. It moved to a larger, and nicer, location down the road, and their selection increased substantially. However, the staff is not what it was. Whenever I walked into the old store I would be approached by a staff member trying to assist me. It was the reason I paid the slightly higher prices than I would pay at, say, Home Depot. However, on todays visit the store was staffed with young people who took no interest in me at all. I walked by two teenage employees telling jokes to each other, and neither offered to help me. When I checked out, one of them (Justin) came to the front to joke around with the cashier and find out what his hours were this week. Then he started making fake burping noises, and no regard for the presence of customers nearby.There is now absolutely no reason to go to Ace instead of Home Depot. Home Depot is less expensive, and I am more likely to get expert help there than from a bunch of uninterested teenagers just killing time while they get paid to do stand around. Bye, bye, Ace!
