Pick & Shovel has it all. Got my paint matched up. Got my screens repaired. Fixed my closet door with the part they stocked. Varnished my hardwoods. Found high quality clothing. Brought home gifts for everyone one.

Lotta good stuff. Poor political atmosphere on the day we were there.

We bought a refrigerator at the Pick and Shovel in August, 2019 for our summer camp. We used it until mid-August, 2019. Due to the Pandemic we didnt return until a week ago. The refrigeratorwas not cooling. We called the Pick and Shovel not knowing who else to call. They came out to our camp and checked it out. They also sent a local specialist to also check it out. Then to our surprise they gave us a new fridge. And did it all within 3 days. In a time of less than great customer service with most retailers the Pick and Shovel stepped up. We wanted all to know that this store stands by their customers.Retailers across the country could learn from them. We are now life long customers.

I worked here as a teen and still come every time Im back in VT. Nothing has changed, but they have kept with the times in all of the important ways! I always find great souvenirs to bring back to AZ and still see the familiar faces I remember. You HAVE to go to Tim & Dougs of course as well.

What are you looking for? Yeah...they have that! Try the second floor. Seriously, what a fun place to explore. Pick & Shovel is the Macys of the Northeast Kingdom. Sprawling over three floors and almost a town block, theres everything from building supplies and birdseed, to live fish and womens shoes. Staff is always ready to help and sometimes rescue the occasional lost soul from some remote corner of the store!

This place is just cool! They have a million and one things, the staff are friendly and helpful, and it’s like a maze that keeps on growing. You can buy lumber and lizards and everything in between in one stop. Plus, there’s an ice cream shop at the front! What more could you want?

Other than the rates they have at their shipping counter (I believe it may be UPS), this is an amazing store. Its more than a store really, its a fun destination. They have floors of household items, a clothing and shoe department, toys, a candle section, an area displaying cute sayings written on wood, every piece of hardware Ive ever needed to fix my home, and even a pet store. They have a seasonal ice-cream shop too. I wanted to write today about the customer service I have always received in the plumbing department. I have zero skill sets when it comes to home repair, every single time there is some polite gentleman who comes over and magically understands what I am trying to say, and puts me on the right path to exactly the right part I need. They have workers who have great knowledge and give top notch customer service.

They have everything! Literally everything! Animal supplies! House supplies! Even clothing! Can you say a more rustic walmart with a GINORMOUS selection for small pets and all kinds of home decor!

Helpful people, love that u can get icecream and check out the pets. I got my friend a baby bunny. And loves it ever since. When working on. a house. The staff are very helpful and knowledgeable about their products. Which helps when your trying describe a piece to something thats under the thing next to the whosie whats it lol. They understand and will help and guide to the other things that might go with it

There are many floors offering something for everyone..Its like the old fashioned county store, updated and selling high quality merchandise and terrific selections..The entire staff is skilled and knowledgeable about every item!Its not only necessary but fun to shop there.You can go to the big box stores miles away but being local and open every day, I save my valuable time and stress knowing if I have a job to do and not a lot of time, kids Im going here . Ive bought animals from here and often go to look at the animals with my girlfriend. Always helpful and always nice. When I go downstairs to check out they always act polite and respectful.

I like to walk through the pet store thats upstairs. Looking for treats and toys for my parrot, Gosha. If I need help downstairs in the hardware store, they are very helpful.

If youre high risk or incredibly safe with COVID dont even bother coming here. I honestly never write reviews but Ive been going to this store for the past few months and whenever I go in the customers are talking behind the counter without their masks on or up.. I always stand there and wait a few minutes until theyre ready to address me. Usually theres 2-8 employees just joking around behind the counter and it takes a couple minutes to get their attention which is kind of annoying but not the biggest deal... today I went in to get wood pellets & this very tall, old man went out to help me move the pellets to my car. I asked him politely if he would pull his mask up (as it was down completely & I would be right next to him loading up the car); he then immediately got unnecisarily insulted and said something like WERE OUTSIDE! before storming off while talking to himself saying I cant believe this are you kidding me... NOW, Im high risk and only go to the store once every few weeks to be careful.. I dont know why me asking him to pull up his mask lead to him storming off, almost like a child having a temper tantrum! This man was a minimum of three times my age, youd think people would be able to handle themselves like adults but no... His blatant lack of common curtesy has definitely lost them a customer as I will be taking my business to Agway instead. I only share this all because I want to warn anyone who is COVID-safe or high risk, dont bother...

The employees are always willing to help. I always tell myself everybody has a life outside of work, so going into this place and seeing the employees with lifes problems weighing on them, but still offer great service, says a lot about who they are and who the company is.

Usually I love shopping here, great customer service, I get all my insects from the pet shop. However recently I bought a flag polea it didnt fit. I went to return it with the receipt to get one that fit. They told me they could not accept it unless I had the original packaging which was a plastic bag that covered the pole. I had thrown it away and they could do nothing about it. This caught me off guard as they are usually very helpful. Just so other people know make sure you save every last bit of packing material that comes with your item if you need to return it even the plastic it comes in. A receipt is not enough.

There very very nice people but there animals are lacking proper care there cages are too small and I’ve seen ADULT Syrian hamsters living together and looked quite stressed. and when I went to get two mice for pets I was expecting just two but they were both pregnant so now we have 19 mice they shouldn’t sell mice that weren’t separated in time to prevent babies without letting the buyer know

When you want to buy hardware items you go with a list in mind. Then you arrive and there are an abundance of helpful employees when ask if you need something. Unlike big box stores like Home Depot or Lowes, Pick and Shovel gives excellent customer service when having a huge selection of items. But it gets better, there ice cream stand is a delicious way to relax after the stress of buying hardware items. The price if the ice cream is so reasonable it blows you away.
