Milkshake was more like strawberry milk. It was so runny and all milk and no shake. Milkshakes should be thick and be a little tough to get through a straw. Thats why you have a spoon with it to help mix it or to scoop it up. We could NOT do that with this. Very sad.The bacon was super fatty, so we could thoroughly enjoy it. Everything else was decent. For the cost it was more like a 3, but I give a 4 because the staff was super kind.
American style breakfast. If you are craving it, go here. Can get busy during brunch hours.
Pretty identical to the ones I had in the US as far as menu items and food taste. The Dutch baby, pancakes and crepes were all great.
Great place for hearty weekend brunch. The portions are super generous, and there’s a variety on the menu, so it’s good to try different menu items every time. First time ordering chicken, and it was pretty good.As mentioned, the service here is clunky—we had to explain several times what salami hash is (the waitress didn’t know!), and someone forgot to put it on our ticket so we only got it after we noticed it.
Eating at this restaurant was phenomenal, a joyous experience. If youre a foreigner and miss breakfast food from home, this is the place. The staff were friendly, and the food was well prepared and delicious (a bit expensive, but i think worth the price for a little homesickness). Ill be coming back again.
Food is just amazing, atmosphere is perfect diner style. The only downside is the place is constantly busy and for one reason it another they have a lot of seats closed off with no explanation why. Have been there twice and would definitely go there again.
I really like this place! The interior gives a wonderful classic American diner feel. The menu is pretty extensive and Ive found that so many things look good and it can be hard to decide! The pancakes are very good and the portions are generous. Ive felt full at the end every time Ive been here. The staff is very friendly but are often busy, so its occasionally a challenge if you need a refill on water or coffee. Overall it is a favorite of mine that I will visit again and again!
Great portions and food is delicious; taste is pretty close to western flavors. Staff also speak English and very foreigner friendly!
About as close as you can get to an IHOP or Dennys. Great food and decor. I had the biscuits with gravy and they nailed it.
The OPH is a little piece of home in Korea. The setting has a finer like feel. The menu can be overwhelming with choices. However, everything I have tried has been met with great approval. Prices are a bit expensive, but you get a lot for your order.I had the chicken and waffles. The chicken tenders are crisp and crunchy on the outside and juicy and tender on the inside. They have a little kick in their batter which makes them very savory and matched well with the sweetness of the waffle with syrup drizzled over it. Chasing it all down with a tall glass of milk.
IG @simpleandhonestreviewsLove this place! We go every other week as we live close by. Pancake quality and choices for sweet or savory (or combinations) are great. They dont take phone bookings so suggest that for brunch/lunch you go either early like 10am or after 1pm to avoid the hungry crowds... otherwise you will be on waiting list for 30 mins*If this post was useful please kindly 👍 it
We have lived in the Itaewon neighborhood for the past decade. I have personally been to Original Pancake House many times. However, upon my most recent visit, I was absolutely gobsmacked at the insane rates OPH charges for their dinner menu. Around ~25,000 for WAFFLES or breakfast foods is insane- in the Itaewon neighborhood, you can find much better food for literally half the price literally a block down. I dont know if OPH is trying to capitalize off of American tourists, but these prices are unjustifiable. There are Michelin restaurants in Seoul with lower prices. If you are going to visit, do not go during dinner time. While brunch may be crowded, the prices are much more reasonable.한국인분들 - 저녁 메뉴는 엄청나게 비싸요.
A variety of different flavors of pancakes. They have waffles and french toast. They also have eggs and bacon and all the other diner foods anyone can want. The main thing is the pancakes, you can have bananas on top or coconut, chocolate chip, pecan. Man Im stopping at pecans. I had the chocolate chip pecan combination. 6 pancakes, I was stuffed.
I can say this is an amazing pancake house. Really nailed the American dinner asthetic.
Love honey bacons and pancakes here.
Very American atmosphere offering mainly desserts (even if there are some salads and burgers or omelettes). Employees speaking very good English. The pancakes are good. The dishes are on average 15 000 ₩ or 20000 ₩ so a bit expensive when you know the cost price of a pancake ... but good place to have fun.
Bring a big appetite! Food is great and portions are huge. Usually packed.
As an all-day breakfast place, there are not a whole lot of options in Seoul. Original Pancake House offers some key staples - flavoured pancakes, waffles and omelets as well as a few options for chicken and salads.Portions all seem to be jumbo-sized, which might accurately reflect what youd find at a breakfast place in the US or Canada, but overall seemed to result in a lot of wasted food among most of the patrons that were there.Food was tasty, but nothing overly special. Prices were a little high - likely due to the premium experience of a western-style breakfast in a non-western country.Staff were friendly and spoke English, but the place was barely half full on a Wednesday evening. Food took a little too long to arrive, but not unreasonably so.Definitely worth considering for a visit if youre in the area and craving pancakes, but I wouldnt go out of my way to visit specifically.
U r better off with Mc Donald’s if you are missing an American breakfast. Terrible food, they literally served raw hash browns after a long wait.
Pancake is good, not the best.Staff let a random person have phone number from the guest sheet for corona so be careful there is no privacy, if your Kakao QR code is not working try to figure it out dont leave your nber there.
The prices are not the cheapest, but if you are looking for good comfort food and HUGE portions, this is the place. The tens of different equally delicious-looking options can make it hard to decide, but then again you can add or change items from most dishes to suit your preferences. It will clog your heart, but it will be happy! 😊😁
You may feel like you are in america more than korea. But try to avoid lunch and dinner time since its getting famous for the picturers..
The restaurant is easy to spot from the road. The place was pretty busy, but we were seated right away. The staff was really friendly and understood plenty of English. We each ordered omletts, which were massive, and they came with pancakes. The pancakes can be upgraded for a few Won. The coffee was pretty good, the omlette was really good and cheesey, and the pancakes. Now that said, we should of shared a plate (not sure if thats allowed) and it was a bit pricey. Omlette with pancakes and coffee ran about 22 Won.Over all, I would come back again to eat in the future.
2 thumbs up. Expect long wait for weekend brunch.
The staff are very friendly, and the food tadtes delicious. Everything has good flavor.
The food and service was very good but a little on the pricey side.
Pretty good, wish they good have more fruity plate
Totally worth the wait.
Delicious, cozy, and quick service. The staff are friendly and speak English and Korean! Great service!
Reminds me of canada.
We ordered the Chicken Sandwich and Hash brown with a topping of avocado, sour cream and tomatoes. It also came along with pancakes, you can upgrade the pancakes to chocolate chip, strawberry or banana. We had the chocolate chip ones and they were great! We also ordered the bottomless coffee which was quite good! The chicken sandwich and Hash brown were not that great. I wouldnt go there for the same dishes! But I definitely want to try their waffles, crepes and omelette!
Nice pancakes. A bit pricey for Korea
Definitely the most Ive ever paid for a pancake. Worth it if youre really craving a diner breakfast / upscale Dennys experience. Didnt realise it was an American chain until I read the paragraphs on the wall.Their specialty Dutch Baby seems like an interesting pick, but I didnt want to fork over that much cash. We got the Jalapeño bacon hashbrowns, which come with 4 mini pancakes. That was a decent variety for the price.
When I went there, it seemed like it was closed so I decided to take some photos but I cant wait for it to open so that I can go eat some delicious pancakes. 😋
Terrible service!! Misleading menu and over priced! The order was two Strawberry filled crepes. We got two crepes each with two soggy frozen strawberries so tiny I at first thought they forgot to put the fruit in!! Wis I too a picture but I thought it was a mistake and sent the food back for filling. I dint realize this would become an infuriating battle where they tried to make me pay for the two substandard crepes (11000won) that I did not eat.Service is slow, unfriendly, waitress frog the order after walking away before I finished ordering, I had to leave my seat to call/find the waitress to get service and to pay for the coffee I ordered. She was just chilling out of sight. Manager was escalated matters, not helpful and inept.I have been here often in the past and this review was a 4 star review (that I have edited) but this will be the last time I go. The manager and staff are the main issue here. Never again
The most American style diner you will find in Seoul. Thick cuts of bacon. Eggs cooked any way you like. Decent pancakes. Southern style friend chicken. Milk shakes with real ice cream. Coffee tastes just like something you find in a hole in the wall back in the USA. The only reason I give it 4 stars is the pancakes werent very good and had a bit of a strange taste. Everything else was excellent.
Pancakes were not cooked well!
This place seems like they have lost their will to do a good job. I was one of only three tables and it took me over an hour to get my food.
Delicious American style breakfast. Ample seating and wide selection of food is availableService is a little slow and theres little to no follow up unless initiated by the customer. If youre visiting on a weekend then expect long lines since this diner is very popular with locals and expats.Definitely try the pancakes and eggs hash. Coffee isnt the best but it will suffice.
Great service. Huge portions. American Diner style food. A little pricey especially drinks. Usually between 15 to 30 minute wait. Still definitely a place to go for a regular comfort food fix.
Food is good here, but all front-staff on the latest visit was awfully bad. No one is willing to listen carefully to the order being taken. They walked away during sentence. Servers /staff here are sensitive where they will not come back to assist unless called upon. No coffee refills at all until it was asked for. Food can take time to come out, which is normal, but why does drip coffee have to come out at the same time as the food or after the food with us having to ask? You can clearly see staff ignoring tables including mine, I dont know why, where, many customers/people continually had to raise hands and ask/blurt things out for service. If things on the menu are not available due to Coronavirus, country fried chicken was not available, then mask it out on the menu, dont make us waiting to be seated think that the entire menu is available when it isnt. Youre wasting customer time, and its inefficient. Typically my feedbacks are for positives giving 4~5 stars. This is my first 1 star rating given, ever on google, due to the way I was treated by staff (visit date: July/12/2020)I frequented this establishment many times in the past, and it was not like this before. Manager and staff all took part in this awful experience.
I came at 8pm. They were trying really hard to explain to me in English that the last order was 8pm, but written at the door last call is 8.10. Finally they talked to each other and said to me it was sold out. They discussed in Korean language and I can understand Korean language, so funny. Never felt this kind of discrimination for a very long time, thanks Pancake House.
Loved the food and the atmosphere of the restaurant
Over priced and undercooked - perhaps I was simply very unfortunate on my visit, but the pancakes were still gooey and the potatoes hard. Will not return, would not reccomend.
Great service, excellent food and the bacon is extraordinarily good.
30 minute wait for them to say they ran out of eggs Benedict.
Great pancakes and very attentive staff!
Its me, the only Foreigner who writes decent reviews in Korea. oh my goodness this is just like going to The Original Pancake House in the United States. In fact, its very much like being in the United States. When you look around its just a bunch of Americans. I tried to order in Korean and they gave me a very funny look. I wasnt sure if it was because they couldnt understand Korean -- Ive lived here for a billion years -- or if it was because they werent expecting Korean. I assume no Koreans actually go to this restaurant. But the food is good. Its not like youre eating sawdust through anything. Its actual pancake batter shaped like actual pancakes heated until they become actual pancakes.
Nephew misses great pancakes as an English teacher in Korea. So when in Seoul he brought me here. I have to admit they are top notch pancakes, and the bacon is amazing. Worth the trip just for the bacon alone. Lol. Great service as well.
Very decent food at a way-too-high price. Standard breakfast and brunch items that are loved for being affordable in the US go for 2-3x the price youd find elsewhere, even in Seoul. You pay for the authenticity, atmosphere, and rarity of these foods in Korea. So youll still probably come here just because you miss it. But it probably wont become your weekly brunch spot. Its also fairly busy on weekends so be prepared to wait during breakfast / brunch hours.
As good as you get of an American style breakfast joint in the heart of Korea. I have been going to the Original House of Pancake for some 30 plus years in Chicago and now in Seoul. The bacon isnt American bacon per se, its better because it has more meat. Its a bit pricey but what isnt in Seoul that isnt labeled international?
Best pancakes and fried chicken in town. Staff are friendly and patient and the food is absolutely great. Never let me down.
This place is excellent and has a great menu and fair price. I would like to give it a 5 star rating but I feel like the service can bump up a little. The servers are working hard but getting a cup of coffee or a refill after the 1st is always harder than it should be. If I ask for Cream and sugar for the 1st cup, you can assume I would like some for the second.
Nothing like waiting 30mins for a eggs bacon and waffle... People arrived after me got there food faster.. Then me.. Maybe I should bring my Korean friend coworkers with me so they dont forget me... Next time
This restaurant is one of my favorites places to eat breakfast, period. The food is great and one of the few places you can get a legit American style breakfast in Seoul. Its on par with (if not better) than a good IHOP or Cracker Barrel in the states. Youll most likely have a 15-20 minute wait on Saturday or Sunday morning, but I definitely recommend trying this place out. Make sure to order a side of bacon if it doesnt come with your meal because its worth it.
Definitely a nice spot to stop if you want a good American breakfast/diner experience. The portions are massive, so if youre not a big eater, try the half order of pancakes. I recommend the salami hash, but it may be a bit salty for some.English menu, English speaking servers and they accept all major credit cards.
