Coffeehouse & Deli has been a mainstay in Uptown Normal for decades. Wonderful, relaxed atmosphere. Delicious vegetarian dishes. Great coffee and pastries as well. They showcase local artists and have open mic nights. A fabulous place to hang out with friends!

Pros: All-vegetarian menu with multiple vegan options (including baked goods and multiple plant-milks!), cozy atmosphere without feeling cramped once actually seated, freshly squeezed orange juice, local art featured on walls, Black-owned small business.Cons: When theres a line, it reaches the door quickly, and its impossible to give others waiting 6 feet of social distance. Its easy to feel rushed when someone is standing right behind you. Wish the food menus were more easily visible from the back of the line (I pull up the website on my phone to get around this!)Specific thoughts: Ive been going for breakfast weekly for a couple weeks now (late June 2021), and each time there is *some* type of line, but it usually moves quickly. Plentiful seating has been available in the mornings. The regulars will chat in line with you, which helps the time pass quickly! You order at the counter and are given a plastic number to set at your table, so a staff member can bring your order out to you, and after your meal bus your own table by bringing the dishes to a designated spot in the middle of the café. Vegan items on the menu and in the baked goods case (see photo) are indicated with a V marker.I got the Coffeehouse Hash, and my husband got the tofu scramble (which he covered in Valentina hot sauce before I could get a before picture). Hes ordered it both times weve gone, so thats an endorsement from him! We also got one of the apple strudels to share, which was flaky and delicious! My husband is obsessed with their fresh orange juice.Staff was courteous and helpful, even going so far as to bring me the flavoring syrup bottles so I could read the ingredients before I ordered. (London Fog is vegan-friendly if you choose a plant milk, by the way! I recommend oat milk for it.)I love supporting a small, Black-owned business rather than a major chain, especially with such a strong plant-based menu! I wish theyd rely less on dairy and eggs for some items that are almost-vegan, but at least my spouse and I can each get different vegan options and actually have **choices**. I will also recommend taking my older parents here so they can get some heart-healthy options (vegan foods have no cholesterol). Will definitely be back so I can try the rest of the vegan menu items!

Food has been kind of hit or miss in my few years as a customer. Especially for take-out, my food is very poor quality and not worth the money. Even though there are many staff members who wear masks, Im always grossed out to see the cooks and the owner always mask-less around my food. Wish theyd change that and improve the food quality.

Great place to grab a quick bite, pastries, and enjoy coffee. The staff is extremely friendly. A lot of tables for long study sessions if you want. My only complaint is that they close too early.

This place is amazing. I always stop here when visiting. The price is honestly so reasonable and the aesthetic is very indie which gives it such a chill vibe. The staff is friendly and the food is really good. Definitely recommend.

The Coffeehouse is a great spot for food and coffee. The customer service was excellent. Yvonne was so helpful and accommodating! She made a very, very delicious hot cocoa for my kids and brought spoons for them to eat the whipped cream and chocolate syrup. The other drinks I ordered were also good, and the quesadillas were great, the salsa was very fresh tasting. I love it. Thanks!

I was traveling through the area and looking to work at a coffee house nearby so I choose this place and its a nice place and staff are very friendly but their wifi was not working and their bathrooms were dirty and smelly. Now I am not a perfectionist but if you are a successful coffee house I would expect them to have a SOLID wifi connection for people to work and the bathrooms to be well maintained and I have to say this place fails in both areas. I even asked 5-6 other laptop users using Macbooks if they could get on and if the pwd was correct and they all smiled at me and said they could not get on either. Sad because in todays technology this can be so easily fixed.

Customer service is absolutely top-notch! I had a slight inconvenience after an online order, on a less than stellar day personally. I sent a message on their website and was stunned to receive almost immediate correspondence, taking measures to fix my concern and then some. Not only was the response professional, but sweet and thanked me for the support. What an amazing effort! This is a wonderful place, ran by true industry professionals. The food and coffee is unique and delicious, highly recommend!

I can see why this place is popular. There is a large selection of drinks and baked goods. I had the egg and pesto sandwich and what made it better than typical sandwiches was the bread. I wanted to have a treat but ended up feeling too full to try. Next time. Friendly service and there are regular customers, so its a nice community feel. This place is old-school in a good way, and there are plenty of places to sit.

Nice and roomy with an older fashioned ambiance. Not enough staff, based on my last 6 Saturday visits, wait times for placing an order are long and they have only had 1-2 people running the counter and making drinks. During my visits, I have yet to see any staff sanitize a table. Coffees are ok, but they need to filter their water.

Ordered a couple of wraps and noticed the price was higher than listed on the menu. Asked server about this and was told, “yes it is higher” without offering to give me the menu listed price. I believe this is an intentional bad business practice meant to overcharge customers without their knowledge.

The remodel is beautiful! Coffee and food are always great. I recommend the carafe of coffee (best coffee deal in town) and the french toast.

I love this place! I have never received bad service or bad food here. I have gone here over 50 times at this point and tried a multitude of different menu options. I would highly recommend the tofu scrambler!

I know this place has an old feel to it and that’s why some people choose to go. If your in the mood for coffee or pastries come here. But if you’re in the mood for an actual meal I would say go somewhere else the price of the breakfast I ordered was way too expensive for what I got and the flavor was okay! There’s no service and you clean up your own plates so the prices should be lowered! Place is dirty and outdated

Extremely good Chai tea! Its just the right amount of sweet, just the right amount of cinnamon.I also got the feta hummus wrap which was very good!I would think twice about ordering take out from here again as they did use styrofoam take out containers. styrofoam isnt recyclable and doesnt decompose. I definitely think it could be better on that frontBut I will definitely be back for the chai.

Great coffee choices, but, the best reason for me to keep coming here are the daily offerings of at least one vegan food item - and they are all delicious! Their Tofu Scrambler is very good too. Places to sit outside, as well as inside, and open starting at 7am (for sure during the week) make this THE place for me to come to in the mornings.

Unfortunately I reside in Peoria, but if I lived around Bloomington / Normal, this place would be my home away from home. Really, really great coffee, a laid back atmosphere and totally unpretentious. And the food here is made to taste delicious because the employees OBVIOUSLY take a great amount of pride in what they do. And the baked goods are made from scratch right here by someone who knows their stuff. And of course the service is performed by some awesome people as well. So, if you havent been here already, then you most definitely need to !!!! ASAP !!!!

The coffees & teas are the best in town bar none. Its a quiet place thats always clean above & beyond. The food is just as good as a little diner I used to go to in Oakland Ca. called Cove & Hoof... ROCKSTAR GOOD

Interesting local coffee spot. Relatively quiet inside, even with a good smattering of customers inside. One or two people at each table, with laptops galore. Studying or working, its tough to know, but its a regular hangout for all college aged and up.Counter service is good. Menu is a challenge if you arent familiar, but options are great. Theres a pastry cooler/display on one side of the order counter, but its not easy to order from the menu and the pastry counter at the same time (you can see one at a time, not both). And order prep takes a while, so theres no real dashing if youre in a hurry.Pastries we tried were both outstanding. We didnt have coffee, so I cant speak to that. The hummus plate was really good, and we recommend the spicy hummus.Definitely worth a visit. Come when you have time to wait and relax.

I think this is a really great coffee shop and cafe!!!! I havent explored their espresso drinks just yet but their iced coffee and smoothies are up to par!I LOVE THEIR MENU. I had such a hard time deciding on what I wanted to eat because it all sounds so healthy and delicious!!! Usually Im stuck looking at the menu trying to decide on what will be healthiest, but here Im able to focus on what will be yummiest

I love Coffeehouse! They have delicious vegan options for my son and I. The workers are always nice and helpful. The vibe is neat with the crowd ranging from seniors, to families to college students. All seem welcome here!

It’s a really cool place to hang out but service isn’t always the best. I waited about an hour for a hummus plate once and haven’t really bothered ordering food since. Definitely good tea though.

I had the egg salad sandwich and soy bacon, it was wonderful. Ive been to coffeehouse numerous times but I recently started vegetarianism this past week. Im glad I have good options in town to fit my new dietary needs. 😊

I love the coffeehouse for meeting up with groups. The coffee is good, the staff is friendly, and the vegetarian menu appeals to carnivores too. The space is very flexible for small groups or big ones. I usually get the tofu scrambler (my stomach does not care for eggs) and they use this veg sausage that I think they make in house and it is insanely good. One of my favorite spots in uptown.

A fun and eclectic coffeehouse with a variety of beverage options for coffee and non-coffee drinkers, alike. People can go alone to study or read, or they can go in a small-large group of people. Drinks are always tasty. Worth a visit (or two or three or four...)!

I own the curated vintage boutique right next door, Butter Twice & Again, and I absolutely love serving Coffeehouse coffee and fresh baked pastries to my customers! I recommend the Cranberry Orange Scone and the Vegan Red Velvet Cupcake! Must try spot for vegan/vegetarians.

Really great spot to stop in for a quick bite or some breakfast. It did take me a moment to figure out the procedure for order and getting settled but everyone was really friendly and helpful. Lots of options and fresh baked goods to chose from. Coffee was superb.

The staff here is always so helpful, and available! The food is great, the tea is great, the atmosphere is great! I never liked coffee, but tried one of the coffeehouse roasts per the suggestion of a staff member and it was actually really good! Go try it for yourself!

One of my favorite places in town to read and hang out. The staff has always been friendly, the food is diverse enough, and the coffee is very affordable. I love their collaboration with local artists, as well as the overall personality of the place. The building shows its age in some ways, but Coffeehouse has a character not shared by many other restaurants in town.

The food was absolutely amazing and it was such a lovely atmosphere!! Dont let the fact that its vegetarian or vegan turn you away (also fyi: they have the best fries in town). I cant wait to go down the list and try everything on the menu!

Nice place. The seating is open and inviting, and the staff is rather friendly and patient. The selection of meals is sort of upscale with very little that one might consider simple, basic types of dishes. The pastries are darned good although not extensive. This place is near campus, so you see a cross-section of college students (the more mature, well-mannered kind) and townspeople. The real downside is parking, which is a problem for many businesses in that area. Overall, it is a good place, but its rather far from campus for me to walk and really inconvenient for parking if I want to drive my car there.

My daughter used to work here and I never visited before now. I didnt know what I was missing! We stopped by here trying to kill time between meetings and wow, the food was fantastic. Coffee, of course, was great. Reasonably priced food and fun staff.

I like this place for two reasons 1) as a vegetarian I can eat everything on the menu without worry and 2) the atmosphere/location are awesome. Beyond that the place could use some work. The food is over priced for what you get. The staff could be more consistent (both chefs and servers) and awake. That said, the Red Eye Thai is one of the best things Ive ever drank, the fries are (usually) pretty amazing, and I love to study here.

This is the oldest and hippest coffee shop in Uptown Normal. It is a college town coffee shop from times past. Not fancy and a little ratty but really cool place to meet, study, drink coffee and eat. You will see all types of people in there on any given day. The service is always good and I love going there to meet friends for coffee and conversation.

Very relaxing and pleasant atmosphere this Friday morning. They have wifi, good coffee, and surprisingly good food at a price much more reasonable than Starbucks! My Egg & Pesto sandwich was terrific and while they dont offer free refills like a lot of sit down restaurants they do have modest refill prices and even offer a discount if you bring your own cup. I wish I lived in the area so that I could come here more often; the staff were so friendly even when business picked up!

I love this place. Its a very low key coffee shop with a relaxed atmosphere. The iced mocha and pumpkin bars are my absolute favorite.

Have never been impressed by their food, but the coffee is decent. Lots of friends have worked here over the years and the people who visit to sit an chat over a cup of coffee really make this place what it is. Always has people inside, but plenty of room and in the warmer months the tables outside are nice addition (and under an awning as to not be scorching hot in the summer).

This is my favorite coffee spot. No frills but the coffee and atmosphere are just right for me. The staff are really friendly and the food and baked goods are fantastic.

I went, in particular, to have an informal meeting. I was able to get a table away from the social gathering and have my personal time undisturbed. Whereas, others were able to have a good time.

The food is good and all vegetarian, which is fantastic. Coffee/tea drinks are ok. My friend had to wait a long time for her lunch. Its reliably tasty and vegetarian!

Less expensive and more chill than other coffee places near by. Plus lots of space. Bigger than Coffee Hound and Garlic Press Cafe combined. They have an entirely vegetarian (some vegan) menu, but even if you are an omnivore you will love their food. In a town like Normal, places like this are hard to come by.
