My wife had an appointment to come get her hair done she wanted ash blonde highlights and when she came back her highlights were orange! She was very upset and she is honestly a shy person and didn’t want to confront and mention anything, spent over $200 just so her hair can look patchy and orange. I honestly don’t know how this place has so many good review because they honestly didn’t do there job right and now she has to go to another stylist because obviously the person who did her hair doesn’t know what she’s doing, or so now we have to spend more money to get her hair fixed. Just be aware and please ask question also I would recommend going else where and do your research before settling for any stylist.

I cannot say enough about my stylist Sylvia. She is a wizard. My hair is wavy in some parts, straight in others and she manages to create a beautiful cut that takes advantage of it all. My hair looks terrific with little effort. What more could you want? Teresa cares for my brows and waxing. She is efficient and gentle. Robyn colors my hair just enough so that no ones knows I even do it. The staff at the desk are extremely professional and kind. I am grateful to Progressions for taking such good care of me.

I had my hair cut several months ago at this salon. And Ive thought on and off about writing a review. As I now am looking for a new place (I had tried this one as a new place)...I wanted to share my experience.Technically the cut was excellent. However, the cost was $150 and it wasnt $150 worth of excellent. I had a first time off coupon. So it was $130 in the end. And thats before a tip. Overall, I just thought it was excessively high. The stylists did spend some extra time styling my hair and adding some flat iron curls with the blow dry (which I did not ask for, I assumed a blow dry was included).At the time the website said $69+. So I was thinking the high end might be $110, not $150. Shame on me for not asking up front. If you are new discuss pricing first is my recommendation.Also, I went to this salon b/c they were listed as a bumble and bumble salon, but that is not really the line of product they promote. They have a pretty limited stock of bumble and bumble relative to their other products.Its a good salon with definite talent, but know what you are paying first.Suggestion to the salon, be upfront and put a range on your website for pricing. If you want to charge $150, thats fine, but own it. Its deceptive to say that cuts start at $69 and then charge more than double that for a cut.

I absolutely love this SALON! It’s the first salon I have been in since Covid and it’s huge, clean & immaculate! They have a wonderful selection of beauty and hair care products for sale & very friendly staff. Equipment is state of the art and they offer everything as a one-stop-shop for every beauty service you could want. I see Barbara there for incredible color and she’s amazing!!! Always in demand, Barbara will make your hair look “expensive”!

I came in to get my hair highlighted by Meghan.I had met her once before at another salon and I was very happy with her then. When she did my highlights she used the foil and when I asked her about coloring in to cover the grey, she told me that she was going to use a gloss to’blend in ‘ the highlights with the grey. I thought it was odd because she had previously used color in between the foil. But I relied on her expertise.At home I saw grey at my temples and a streak of light blond on the back of my head that I had to pull apart so that it didn’t look so obvious. I called this morning to ‘right’ it but I was going to be charged extra money for coloring. I’ve had my hair highlighted for so many years and assumed highlight/coloring the grey was part of the deal. Just the fact that she didn’t offer to make things right made me sad . I spent $180 for a highlight that was very disappointing and where the response was below par! So I decided to not come back. Sorry.

I took my daughter to the salon to donate 8 inches of her hair and have her hair styled. The team was so sweet and supportive and gave her a meticulous haircut! The salon was incredibly clean and they took all necessary precautions to sanitize and keep everyone safe during this crazy time! They also gifted my daughter a good bag with a new hairbrush, product samples and more! Highly recommend!

I have been going to Ligia for about 8 years now. She always asks me what I want to do....same style, or try something different. I trust her and feel that when she is doing her finishing touches, she is truly an artist. Everyone at the salon is friendly and all are extremely thorough in keeping a sanitary and safe salon during this Covid pandemic. Great care is taken to keep everyone safe.

I have been going to Progressions for at least a couple of years now, having been referred by another happy client. I was having a hard time finding someone who could cut my short hair and have it still look good 4 or 5 weeks later. I was booked with Alice just by chance and she worked wonders with my hair, I dont know what she does but she is the best! And she does a fantastic job with highlights and color. The entire staff is professional, well-trained, friendly and welcoming. Always offering a beverage and snack as soon as you walk in. They have great product lines that they sell, but my favorites are the accessories they sell - I have bought so much jewelry there, I love everything, so whoever is the buyer at Progressions youre doing a great job! I highly recommend anyone who is looking for a great cut and/or color, or even just a unique gift to go to Progressions! I understand they provide excellent facials and massages as well but I have not indulged in those yet.

An amazing salon! Going for any service they provide is a real treat. On top of their excellent service and talented staff, they give of themselves to help others. Every year they donate 10-15 full service haircuts so that clients may donate hair to make wigs for children with cancer.As I said an amazing salon all around!

Ive come to Progressions Salon and Spa several times to purchase Eminence skin care products. They have a great selection of products and the pricing is very reasonable. The staff is incredibly helpful (but never pushy) identifying new products to try. I have very sensitive skin, so I like to try new products for several days before buying. Progressions was great providing samples of products and no sales pressure. I will continue to purchase products and recommend to other Eminence users in the area.

Im sad because my favorite stylist left without anyone telling me. I had nothing but great experiences with my previous stylist, so I am going to try a new stylist for my next appointment. The prices are reasonable, and vary depending on stylist. You can get discounts on products and on your birthday, and there are a ton of stylists so you can basically pick whatever pricepoint you feel comfortable with. Im hoping I get the same great experience with my new stylist.

I always get compliments on my hair (Bianca); the HydraFacials (Myriam) make my skin feel and look brighter and are so relaxing; wonderful manicures – my nails have really improved; make-up (free demos and make-up tips)! The Retail section has assorted shampoos/conditioners plus assorted accessories that make nice gifts. Heard their Massages are also great. The highlighting at the salon is alway perfect. The hair cut, at times differs from my original intent, in terms of length and style. Thats said, it later alters with growth. I went to Progressions today and had Ellen cut my hair into a pixie style. It was a pleasing experience to walk into this salon and be offered something to drink and I did not wait long for my stylist. :) Ellen was very patient with what I wanted and worked with me the whole way to make sure I liked what she was doing. The only unfortunate thing is that this salon is too far for me to go every few weeks but if I was closer this would definitely be my new salon.

Let me just start by saying that I am not a hair person. Im not very good at doing anything with my hair, and I dont keep up with my haircuts. Michelle was fantastic! She gave me a great maintenance-free cut and did not once make me feel bad for my lack of upkeep. Everyone in the shop is super friendly too - highly recommend!

I have been going to Progressions since 2001, and have stayed with them - hadnt been to have my hair cut in such a long time and I was a mess- I felt like the wicked witch of the west. I love my grey hair, but decided that if they insisted on coloring it, that would be the first and last visit - well Karla was great, cut my hair short, as I wished, and loved the grey - stayed with Karla for until her schedule could no longer accommodate mine and switched to Sandra, who is just as good. The entire staff is professional and so welcoming, One really feels pampered, even if just having a cut- and believe me, it is not just a cut- These stylists are true pros - Grey hair can be difficult and I always come away looking great and more importantly, I can do it myself and it grows out great. I believe in you pay for what you get This is my special treat to myself and worth every penny! I love Progressions, which is why I am still there and it is 2012!Update to review - am trying to grow my hair out and grey hair is difficult - had a fresh haircut Friday with my girl Sandra and my husband said he loved it as I got out of the car!!! I was very pleased with Progressions after my first visit. I received a back facial and a hair cut. The back facial was very relaxing and the aroma therapy treatment was gentle and effective. I am African American and was a little nervous as the about the haircut portion of my visit. The stylist did an excellent cut. The only negative was that she was not able to bring the sheen to my hair that black salons offer. It was not a big deal, I went home and did the final touches and got the sheen that Im used to. I didnt rate them down for that because I still loved the cut. The customer service and the complementary amenities made this a very pleasurable experience. They even gave my man a free 15 minute massage because he was waiting so patiently. He loved it.

I have been to this salon 3 times but was only able to get my hair done 1 of those times.The first appointment was cancelled but I wasnt informed until I got to the salon.The second time they couldnt do my cut and color at the same time so I only got a cut.The third time I went in for the highlights (which, by the way doesnt include a blow dry so you walk out of the salon with wet hair) but they mischesuled me so once again I was unable to get my hair done.There are too many salons around for me to keep wasting my time trying to get these people to take my money in exchange for services.Definitely DO NOT recommend.

Nice salon!Anna handled my haircut and beard with precision before my wedding; which garnered a lot of complaints as well as some stellar photos!Couldnt be happier with the couple times I have gone here, though making it a regular thing is a bit on the expensive side.A hair and beard trim for a man is $50 at a minimum, before you tip.Which can be a slightly tough pill to swallow, where most men can get a cut and trim for $15 bucks anywhere else.Regardless I do recommend Progressions - as they take a lot of pride in their work, and it is certainly a more luxurious experience.

Kevin is an amazing hairdresser -- he cut and layered my hair beautifully -- have been at other salons in the area that were also named Best of Bethesda in prior years, however, none was as good as Kevin.In addition, the salon is very comforting, busy but relaxed and with a lot of positive energy -- Loved the experience!

Always have had several issues with Peanut, 4 years old, sitting still for a haircut. One of the Stylists, Dani, told me to bring him in and I reluctantly agreed, fearing the worst ... I was wrong. He loves the little play area, sat in the chair for Dani without any issues whatsoever. Got his haircut properly and has since requested to return to Progressions... only Dani cut my hair... Well Done!! If you are at the gym across the street, dont hesitate to go across to Progressions and hit two birds with one stone... a great workout and a great haircut!!

She knows how to change subtle details to change up my style and keep it fresh. She also began microblading my eyebrows recently and I love them! I was scared to try it at first because I just didn’t know if I would like it but I trust her and wow! Angela does the best facials!Update 12/7, the salon encouraged me to post this here: Angela is the best and I recommend her to people frequently. But salon ownership needs to think about its pricing and about customer loyalty. They raised the price for hydrofacial without notice and dont offer competitive pricing on packages. A quick google found several spas in the area offering buy 5 get 1 free packages on facials including hydrofacials and Progressions offers a measly 10%. A package ensures future bookings but is not a good deal at progressions. I was going to buy one for my mom for Christmas but I wont at those prices, I will look elsewhere. And Im taking a star away for pricing.

Im not a fan of getting my hair cut. Mostly because it takes time out of the day and you have to schedule in advance... and Im terrible about setting up appointments and keeping them. Decided to try my luck here because it had good reviews and was near me. Originally I was told Id need to set up an appointment but after stopping in they worked me in and Shae was available to cut my hair. She did a great job and when I mentioned how horrible I am about keeping appointments (because Im wishy washy I guess) she told me just to call any day I wanted to come and check her schedule. Then she fits me in when she can. Ill keep coming back because the cut is good and they are easy to work with... and Shae is great!

I have been going to Progressions for about 29 years. While I have had only 3 hair stylists during that time, each has been excellent in hair styling and coloring highlights. The stylists are very professional and well-trained, in that they go to continuing educataion classes to keep up to date with the newest trends in style and coloring. I moved about 25 miles away from the salon in Rockville, but I am so sold on their services and professionalism, that I make the trip every 8-10 weeks for a cut and highlight. Cindy Feldman runs a great shop and I will continue making the trek from Alexandria, Va in the years to come. I cant tear myself away from Progressions. I dont want to even try,

Miracle on Nebel St .Upon moving to Maryland from New Jersey to be near our daughter .She said okay mom time to update your look. We are going to Progressions Salon.I replied are you nuts...How can they change an 84 year old...Well Miracles did happen .Pam with her magic scissors cut my hair in a youthful style..Leti the fantastic colorist made me a blonde .No more gray ...Hip Hip Hooray..AMAZING..Yes Miracles do happen at Progressions ..my now favorite salon...
