I have been a customer off and on for 21 years and always have had excellent service. I returned this year 2021 after being with another oil company for one year. It has been nothing but a disaster for me. I tried to set up my account on-line and because I was a previous customer the system wouldnt let me, it took several weeks and numerous phone calls to fix. Finally fixed I paid my first installment on the phone and went to pay my second installment recently. Although my bank accounts are registered the system wont allow me to pay. Frustrated beyond belief.

I have been with Petro for over 20 years. They are always honest and friendly and willing to answer any questions or deal with any home heating or billing issue that has come up. They answer calls quickly and politely. Their new website lets me schedule my payments painlessly.

Great dependable delivery of oil. I signed up for the price cap on the oil price with Petro and now am I so glad I did. I am saving a lot of money.

First encounter was via phone call with Nick who was very helpful and professional! I know My parents have been customers for years. My parents always speak so highly about the great customer service and honest care provided by this company. It’s hard to find a company that cares for their customers. There needs to be better communication between driver and appointment maker(receptionist). I called and the technician didnt come until an hour later. When the person on the phone said the cleaner will be at my house around 1pm. The cleaner arrived at 2:20pm. There shouldve been communication to if there was going to be a delay. Will not be calling to use their services anymore

The service technicians that I have interacted with have all been very professional and knowledgeable about their jobs. And they clean up their areas after the repairs. I highly recommend this company.

If I could give them no stars I would, called to schedule a propane delivery put on hold left call back number no call back, called again on hold for 30 minutes decided to try another extension on hold for 20 minutes spoke the Chris couldnt help me transferred me back to service on hold for another 20 minutes finally spoke with Cindy she was able to schedule a delivery but over an hour just to schedule a delivery not good. My daughter had the same problem no call back and then on hold for over 30 minutes. Thats not how you keep your customers.

Poor Customer ServiceMy stepmother has been fighting this company for months. She is elderly and wanted an air conditioning estimate. One salesman came and never got her the estimate despite her calling him back several times. Another kept moving her appointment so he could cover other calls. when this had happened a few times she told him that he didnt seem serious about this job. He told her she probably couldnt afford it anyway.Recently when her oil tank sprung a leak she called Petro. They sent a team to drain the old tank. They put in a temp tank outside her house which is a 55 gallon drum. One person from Petro said the oil in the tank would last 3 weeks then another said it would last 3 days. Then Petro gave her an appointment to talk about buying a new tank in 5 days. So in case she only had three days of heat she put the temperature back to the mid50s. THEN the salesman never showed up. Why ? because he called in sick and NOONE called us to let us know (I had taken the morning off work to be there) . So after a few hours of phone calling we got salesman who did show up (thank you) and he said recommended a smaller tank than in the past (due to space) when I said she might run low on oil, the salesman said You can call Petro every day for oil if you want. it is when we do. we make sure you will not run out of oil. Ans made and appointment for a tank to come in 3 weeks.Since then she has called Petro to have the temp tank filled on several occasions. One person told her to pull the lid off the tank and check the level with a yardstick to figure out if she really needed oil. Another told her to just lift the lid and look in to see if she needed any oil. other times they have told her that someone is coming but they never tell her if anyone did come. One person came shook the 55 gallon drum and said it was fine and just left. So she is beside herself unable to tell if she has enough oil to get through the night. and she is not happy that after paying them each month, this is how she is treated when in need. I have to worry that one night Im getting a call that the pipes have burst either because she ran out of oil or because she turned the heat so low to avoid running out of oil. every time we call the company we end up talking to someone in another state. sales and service do not talk to each other, every person in every department says things that contradict the other department. This is a company that has grown too big to manage itself to to fulfill its commitments to its customers, many of whom are elderly. I cant wait for this nightmare in customer service to end.also I want to know where these google reviews I see on their website come from because I do not see them on the actual google site. Nor do they have ANY reviews less than 5 stars on their own website. hmmm

Being a designer in the construction industry I am very familiar with with HVAC systems. Moving from Lyme to Guilford my current Vendors who I have worked years with on new homes and remodels were out of their reach. So I had to start fresh and met with several vendors when it came to upgrading our AC and furnace systems. Petro being a large company, I had my reservations as if they would treat us as well as our previous own vendors. From start to meeting with their professionals my doubt was relieved. From start to finish Petro from all perspectives was on top of our projects with excellent brands; Trane and Energy Kinetics products. Their service teams after the start-up were well trained and knowledgeable. We couldnt be happier with the end results. I highly recommend them for your project.

Our thermostat was malfunctioning and I knew that it had to be replaced. I called Petro and within 3 hours the service technician was at my home. He had the needed replacement thermostat in his van and installed it. The technician was very careful, wore a mask and gloves and was very courteous as well. I have been a Petro customer for over 20 years and have always been satisfied and indeed impressed by the efficiency of Petro service.

Terrible customer service and terrible service contract options (hidden fees and false claims). Oh and also to compensate for their amazing service they over price oil. I would not recommend Petro Home Services

I signed up with Petro a couple of weeks ago and came home to find the heat running on 1 of my 3 zones even though the thermostat was not calling for it. The room was up to 78 degrees! I called the Service Department and Chris was here in 3 hours. He had the issue identified in moments and fixed in under 30. The best part is that it was covered under my new service contract!

Having a problem with my Central AC. Called for service early in the morning on Wednesday 5/27. Was able to get service same day. AC Tech showed up on time. Diagnosed problem, determined which part was causing the problem, replace it, AC back up an running. There was a service charge for the visit, but was reasonable. Excellent Service.

I have always had a great experience with this company. Ive had several different people work on and maintain my heating and air, all of them have been very courteous and professional.

The man that came to our house was very nice. He fixed a lot of things and followed the covid rules. We have never had service like this before. Usually its just clean and leave (by other companies) but he actually repaired things and was very honest with us.

I bought a house in New Haven and for 2 months different plumber and heating companies come and go and never solved my problem. I called Petro Home Services and they come once and solved my problem once and for all. So I subscribed to their annual repair and maintenance service and enrolled all over 5 properties I own in the Northeast. They are the most affordable and the BEST!

Petro technician Mal #156 from the North Haven Ct office came over to inspect all of the equipment that was installed the day before. He arrived on time and he was polite, knowledgeable and very helpful. Petro is THE BEST company hands down. We are glad we contacted them for our installs. Our installers Dennis and Dillion were funny, professional, neat and clean. They are THE BEST INSTALLERS bar none! Everyone in the installation department was awesome. The installation manager came over to measure and diagram the placement of the AC unit.We highly recommend all of them and Petro. Great company if you are looking for top notch service and equipment!

The Technician who came was very knowledgeable and spent a lot of time to ensure that the leak issue was resolved to our satisfaction. He had been to our house in the past, and knew exactly what was needed. I also was impressed by the fact that during the covid crisis, Petro is taking care of all its customers if they do not have any heat.

Needed emergency furnace service at 11pm, spoke with the rep over the phone who was assisting me by the name of Melissa who guaranteed she will do her best to get someone at my residence to fix my Oil Furnace. Rest assured, one hour later someone came and was able to go set my furnace up and running and took his time to make sure all my issues were resolved. Thank you some much Petro, outstanding service!!

Our customer service rep Surendra was great!! He took the time to review all out options and was very knowledgeable in answering our questions. He even did a three-way call for my significant other to be on the line as well!! Our service tech Dylan was awesome!! He was super down to earth and explained so much on our system and how it works!!

Petro customer service has been superior. The staff is friendly and helpful and the service technicians are extremely knowledgeable. I had an issue with my hot water and the technician was very thorough with his explanation and answered any questions I had. The hot water problem is solved. Based on my positive experience, I highly recommend Petro.

Water leaking from boiler during the storm where we also had no power. service rep was at our house within an hour the call - replaced the valve and would not leave until boiler came back on - which took awhile. I dont prioce shop because the service we have gotten at least 3 times was great

Called yesterday early morning with a furnace issue. Said someone would be there between ten and twelve. As usual they were there when promised. Needed a part that was not available until the next day. Repair person and part was here, repair made and he was gone before lunch the next day. Have always found them prompt, experienced, neat, and friendly. This company is everything you want from a oil company. Have not used their other services

Great service all year long. Well trained excellent techs. Oil delivery is always on time. Affordable service contracts that they stand by. I have been with this company for 40 years.Recent service call at 11:00 PM. Safety valve on hot water heater letting out lots of water. Had to turn off heater, so no hot water. Tech (John) arrived and diagnosed and replaced the valve. Also checked temperature control and made sure I was ready to go. John also made recommendations for future service needs. John was very friendly and courteous, but most of all very knowledgeable.Service call on 4/30/19. Called at 5:30 PM and was given a window of 8-11 PM. Tech showed up at 6:30 PM. Nice surprise. Repair was quick and Tech knew immediately what the issue was. As usual tech very friendly and helpful. You can always count on Petro.Sept 2021: Recent yearly cleaning service by Carlos. Carlos is always friendly and professional. He has been to my home many times and always nice when he shows up. After cleaning, he ordered a part for my burner that was worn and could cause a future issue. Part was installed also by Carlos. Just great service.

I was completely out of oil. Brand new customer, they even tried to save me money by explaining how to do things to save me a service tech trip! Prompt delivery of oil and explanation of all the plans as well!

I had a boiler leak and had it fixed 2hrs after I called. Amazing! Customer service was great and they even sent me a tracking app to see where the tech was prior to my appt. Work was done well and quickly. Very happy!

Weve been a petro customer for a very long time & their service is top of the line, everyone is so polite, professional & knowledgeable.

New to the area and ran out of fuel. They sent a technician with some oil first on the same day to turn the system back on and get us running and then a tank came out to fill it out. The person I spoke to, John, was really patient and helpful and explained me about the fuel options and gave me an honest opinion about which I should choose.

We had no heat in our living room and called the service at 7:30PM. with in an hour, the Service technician Max came and he was very professional and knowledgeable, found the root cause in minutes and he fixed it. greatly appreciate the service

Petro oil is the most expensive oil company in the area, STAY AWAY FROM THEM. I was a customer for several years. Their phone based billing system does not work in sync with their online system, which leads to double charging and hours of frustrating phone calls trying to correct issues that should not be issues. I finally cancelled my contract with them after being charged nearly $4.50 per gallon (double the current average pricing) for my last heating oil delivery. After two months, my CC is still being charged by them online. THEY ARE NOT WORTH THE HASSLE.

Automatic service is nice but if you get the service contract and dont call during the allocated time, you dont get the service to your equipment even after you already paid for the contract. They are also the most expensive per gal for oil. They say you get their excellent service, but i rather save .40 per gal on oil.

If there is no star i can give them and they ripped you. They promise something else and deliver some else. At the time of taking service they told us they will charge according to market price but they charge more than that. Market price is 2.69-2.99 and they charged me 4.049 please do not buy heating oil from them. Introductory price is good after that they will ripped you. Please read all reviews most are the talking same about that, I am with them from 2 years they just charged me too much.

On a Saturday Petro came to my house withing 3 hours for a fix! Prices for oil or a bit on the higher side but for that response time on a holiday weekend was quite impressive....Though they lost a star because repairman could not explain why my switch for furnace kept going to the off position. He brushed off any serious issues as he stated it was just a switch and nothing would cause it to turn off.He then said it could be a ghost and that he believes in them. Being a skeptic on ghost I was in denial at first but now have spent the past four hours begging the ghost if he exist to chill out because it is too cold not to have the heat work. Subsequently I have watched Ghostbusters to get a better understanding of what I am dealing with. I am not talking about the reboot, I am talking Bill and Dan original style. I dont think anyone watched the reboot and am now convinced that if I put it on TV on a loop the ghost will go back into hiding.The repairman brought the possessed furnace lightswitch with him and replaced it thankfully. Hopefully he buried it where the light of day will never see it.I now believe in ghost

Could not have been a more rewarding experience for us with technician (a.k.a. Genius) John at the helm. Not only was he extremely knowledgeable, but resolved our lack of consistent AC problem on a 98 degree day. The cause would probably have been missed by others.As we enjoy being in our reestablished, cooled climate we are grateful for our most positive outcome.

It was the most rewarding experience we have had in a long time. The service man came on time and worked so hard to fix our problem. He was knowledgible, reassuring and had us at ease. He was friendly and when he had left we were in a good state of mind.

I am a new Petro customer, only 2 months, and I had a problem with my furnace. There was a technician at my house within 2 hours of my call. He found a problem, fixed it, cleaned up after himself and left. The perfect repairman! I highly recommend Petro Home Services.

Had a problem on Sunday morning with the furnace. Tech person came out in about 45 minutes and after inspection, replaced the blower motor. It did not take that long to replace the motor. Very happy with service. I highly recommend Petro.

If I could give 0 stars I would!We purchased our first home and were new to oil heat/hot water.... we had been told stories about oil shortages and people scrambling to find oil during harsh winters.... we decided to play it safe and look for a company with auto delivery and a service contract, not knowing much about the Boiler our new home. A family member suggested Petro and we had met a representative at a local home show so we figured wed give them a try. --My first sign to run should have been before signing a contract when I spoke with 2 different salesmen and one was rather aggressively trying to put me on a budget plan that wasnt going to work for me.Once I stupidly signed a contract, I was told I would receive my first oil delivery in 2 days -- fast forward 5 days still no oil and my tank was dangerously low. I made a call and eventually someone came out with 10gallons to hold me over for my delivery which would likely be within the next week. They did come out and fill the tank after a couple more calls and days later....We also signed up for a service contract and were told over 500 parts are covered and labor. We eventually had an issue (on a weekend of course) and when the tech came out he walked in, looked at the tape my husband had put on the Boiler to hold it over and said well you did all I was gonna do told us the repair was definitely covered but didnt have the tools with him so someone would be out Monday to fix it. (He also pointed to a coil and said that is definitely on its way out so eventually, youre probably going to call me to replace that soon). The days came and went and no one came or called us back like the tech had said they would. Going days with no hot water, we finally called another repair company to actually fix the issue. I contacted Petro to have them cover to cost of the repair, they ask me to send the invoice from the repair company. I get an email back stating the part described in the invoice is not covered under the agreement (even though the tech said at least twice while looking at it that it was definitely covered). I emailed back stating how upset I was that I was told it was covered and now this rep is saying its not. No reply back.A few days ago that coil he mentioned finally broke, so we called them to come out again-- once again, not covered under the service agreement. This time I was actually given a quote on the cost of fixing this issue (and an attempted upsale on another part 😒). The tech couldnt give me an answer on when it would be fixed either maybe tomorrow but probably the end of next week. I decided to find another local company that quoted me at much less and came out in 2 days to perform the work -- WITHOUT A SERVICE CONTRACT and discount.I will never sign another contract with Petro or suggest them to ANYONE --worst customer service and Service Plan EVER!!!

I had my annual system maintenance performed yesterday. The technicians were outstanding - professional, friendly, and very helpful. Id been struggling the last several months with adjusting my burner, hot water heater/recirc, and air handler (x3) settings to try to maximize my system efficiency. When I mentioned this to the technicians, they both lit up and basically gave me the lets figure this out response. They checked all the possible adjustments, showed me how to make future changes, and took time to explain to me how each affected performance. They gave me solid recommendations to improve my energy efficiency overall, even outside of the HVAC system itself. I highly recommend Petro to anyone in the area. By far the best experience Ive had with an oil delivery/heater maintenance company since Ive lived in this area, and this is my fourth company with whom Ive done business.

Great service, I sign up for the maintenance plan with them a month ago. I had no heat on Sunday morning, they send a technician that arrived on time the same day. He fixed the problem and changed the oil filter at no charge.

I called for service at 04:30AM as the Circ Coupling of the heating system broke. I was promised that a technician will be at our house between 8AM-12PM.The technician arrived at 08:50AM, replaced the broken part in less than 15 minutes and the entire heating system was fully functional to our satisfaction. Great Job!

I have never had a bad experience with Petro. Any time I have called with a possible issue they have always been very responsive and technicians are always great when they come do perform work.

I recently signed up as a customer and Im very pleased with the professionalism of the company. They made the sign up process easy and had a techenician out to my house to repair my boiler the same day.

The service man that came out was kind and helpful!! The phone dispatcher was also! The only confusion was payment....the woman on the phone confirmed no charge as it was a second visit...the service man said he was supposed to charge me....but did not!

I had an issue with my furnace, so I gave them a call and within an hour they came out and the Service man (Giuseppe) was so professional and fixed us up in no time. Petro is the best!

Came when we were told he would, explained the issue.But several technicians have told us, and we know it, that our gauge to tell us how much oil is left is broken AND to have the NEXT tech who comes out to fix it.

Worst company ever to deal with. Dont get caught up in their garbage lies. There are plenty of other honest companies go deal with. They claim service is their top priority, its not.

The furnace cleaning we had scheduled months in advance was deleted by Petros computer system. Fortunately I called the morning the cleaning was to take place and was told this kind of deletion was a problem Petros tech staff has been working on for a long time, unsuccessfully. Petro did manage to get our cleaning done later that same day and apologized, which I appreciate, and told me I would get a call when the technician was on his way to do the cleaning. Petro did not call. The technician called me and said he was at our garage door. A related gripe i have with Petro about furnace cleaning is how long it takes to get an appointment. We wanted the cleaning prior to the heating season but couldnt get anything till Feb. 22, which is the one the computer system deleted. If they could squeeze us in the same day, why wouldnt they squeeze us in on an earlier date that we really wanted? Plus, why is Petros oil price still so high while oil market prices are going down significantly? Petros service people are great, but Petro is very expensive. And the service plan cost keeps rising every year, which I was told is intentional and apparently not based on any factor other than how long weve had a service plan with them. In other words, the increases are planned and have nothing to do with what Petro has done for us. I know, I know, companies lure you in with a low price service plan and hike it every year you stay with them. Its a ripoff, like car and home insurance. Those companies do the same thing. So the answer is to switch to a company that wants to lure you in with a lower price. Anyone, the problems noted above make me want to take a look at what else is out there for oil companies.

Garbage of a company, they had charge me 4.49 a gallon!! I have try to adjust the price but they say because it’s automatic delivery they won’t lower it. The customer support aren’t very good at handle things with manners but with rude attitude.
