This is a great local North Myrtle Beach place when you can’t find what you need at the big box hardware places like Lowe’s or Home Depot. The ‘ole guys here will hook you up with the oddest bits and bobs for you boat, home, plumbing, or electrical needs. They have helped us jerry rig an inset pipe set up to hang outdoor all weather curtains, locate odd boat parts, repair our busted grill, find screws, nuts, and blots for the outdated appliances we have all over the place, and supplied goods for canning fruits and vegetable from our garden. I bought all the supplies to make this marker holder.

I shopped at this hardware today. When I entered the door, one of the employees standing behind the counter immediately yelled out from a good distance away: what do you need? The place was crowded, so I felt both disrespected and awkward, so I responded: I need a million dollars, but you only have $800,000. This response evidently hit a hot button, because he acted very agitated. I proceeded to tell him what I needed to purchase and he immediately yelled out some complicated directions regarding where the item was located in the rear of the store. I then asked one of the owners to assist me in locating the item, which he did.The Smart Aleck employee has been employed by this business for several years now--------wears glasses and is originally from Indiana (I believe). Each time I have shopped at this hardware, he is seemingly in a different mood. He can be very helpful, or nasty. Today was one of his nasty days. Personally, I would have fired him a long time ago if I had been foolish enough to have hired him in the first place.For the sake of me, I cannot understand how this business has received so many positive google reviews given the sorry customer service shoppers receive from some of their employees.

I wish I could rate two times but cannot. If I rated this location on having everything it would be a 5 plus as they truly seem to have everything in this hardware store. I love that its not a big chain store and has so much potential but here comes the issue. It would be nice to have pleasant people working in a business that supports itself on paying customers. Not one not two but three generations of bad attitude and poor at best people skills. I love how convenient it is and love supporting family owned businesses but come on guys crack a smile or say thank you for your business. I would make them my first stop always but when traffic is not bad I drive further to the box stores just to get treated better.

Every town or city needs a hardware store like this. Its nice to have a Lowes hardware or Home Depot but you can do without them but a hardware store like Windy Hill is absolute must for every community.
