I have an older car that is still in good shape physically. Brought it here to AAMCO for assessment of needed repairs. Steve, the owner was exceptional to deal with & was very personable. Steve & his team did a great job with the repairs & Clara was very detail in explaining everything to me. Not only did they do the repairs, Steve insisted that I bring the car back after driving for several weeks so they could check it. Once back they found a faulty part which they replaced at no cost. I really felt in good hands with Steve, Clara & his staff. Clara kept me up to date on the progress of the work & the car was ready earlier than promise. I was very confident in what they did & they are committed in standing by their work. I will continue to bring the car here for routine maintenance.

Eh. I was hoping to get some work done for my car. I get it. My job was cheap and easy. I wanted a resonator delete and im sure he had more worth while jobs to do. But if he didnt want to do it. Just say so. Dont say youll call me back twice and never do. 🙄. Im sure they do great work, thats why I called them in the first place. But being left with empty promises and waiting doesnt help you at all. I guess Ill take my business elsewhere. But if they read this and set up an appointment Ill change my review!

I made an appointment on the AAMCO website for 8am on Weds May 12th, which by the way was very easy to set up. I arrived at 8am and was greeted by Clara, who was very friendly and professional, she made me feel very welcome. She said one of the techs would look at my brakes and let me know if replacement was needed, within 15 mins she had said that the front brakes needed front pads and rotor disks and the car would be ready at 1pm. She also said that back brakes etc were not needed that they were in good shape. I met Steve during all this and he also was professional, and great personality. Around 11 am I received a call from Clara saying my car was ready. Let me tell you this is my go to place for any further repairs needed for my car, I appreciated the honest, professionalism from AAMCO in Norwalk. Thank you Clara, Steve and the AAMCO techs

Needed an entirely new brake system on our 4Runner (pads, calipers, rotors). We are fairly new to CT and not familiar with the auto shops in the area. Did some research on Yelp and Google and decided on AAMCO because of the reviews and my experience at other locations. Claire could not have been nicer to us and was extremely helpful in the process from estimation, contact during the repair, and follow up. Pricing was fair compared to other shops and less than the dealership. They also worked on the AC on the vehicle and wanted us to come back so they could check for leaks!Fair pricing, exceptional service, timely repair. I will continue to bring my repair work to AAMCO Norwalk!

Went to this establishment to get my brakes checked out. Spoke with the owner, Steve, who was as friendly and professional as could be. Given COVID considerations, I could not wait in the shop so he drove me to a near by cafe and bought me a coffee. After all that, turns out nothing was wrong with the car and there was no fee for the inspection. Super nice and honest repair shop.

Ive been going there for just over a year and Im yet to regret it. Steve is such a gentleman and is quite transparent with everything. Clara is also on point and amazing to deal with. I have also had great customer service from whomever answers the phone or is at front desk. Their work is phenomenal and despite the fact that its a little further and the labor a little more expensive than my former mechanic-the results are definitely worth it. Read the reviews before calling this business to verify they could even repair my transmission, spoke with the owner Steve he stated absolutely they could resolve my issue, very positive first conversation, so I dropped my car off. I allowed a few weeks to go by wasnt really in a hurry but figured I would call in to get a status, they said they would call me back, later that afternoon they called and quoted a price for water pump, cap/rotor, plus wires etc. and oh! I need a transmission too, I said; I brought the car in for a transmission repair why the other items, she said were an all inclusive repair shop and gave me the high number, I told her the car had a new engine less than 150 miles ago, all the parts were replaced then lets focus on the transmission, she adjusted the quote and I agreed to have them fix the car, I gave them what they wanted up front. Sadly 7 weeks later and several disappointing calls, I elected to move this repair to another repair shop, but of course they charged me for no repair, perhaps diagnostics or in my case storage, but sadly I did not experience the happy resolve that so many others have had? I will say the other repair shop had my vehicle fixed in 6 business days and less money they were awesome! Not saying theyre are bad people just wish they had delivered more effort.I just read Steves response from 10 Months ago, if they really wanted to Quote: well get this straightened out they would have simply called me, they have my contact information in there system. I stand steady on this review...

Went to AAMCO following a local mechanics recommendation to have Steve take a look at my alternator. Steve was courteous, shook my hand immediately and introduced himself, then quickly analyzed if my alternator was charging correctly. The alternator was fine and there was no charge for his time or hassle. Saved me hundreds and Ill definitely be going back for any repair issues needed in the future. Highly Recommend.

When i first arrived i was greeted with a smile and a handshake. I dealt with Steve and Joanna who both treated me with respect. Joanna was very helpful and reassuring. Recently went here to get the Nag1 transmission in my 2008 charger rebuilt. I had the car back in a few days. Steve the owner and the lady at the front desk are extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Eddy in the back is an excellent and experienced transmission builder. Great place for transmission service amongst other things.

I was referred here from valvoline for a broken a/c compressor in the dead of summer. They got me right in for an appointment and the price was fair. A/c now works better then it ever did. As a nurse I was impressed with the contactless drop off and pick up. I will definitely use in the future.

Outstanding experience! Clara was delightful. She took care of me over the phone and in person and was the most knowledgable car repair customer service person Ive ever interacted. Steve was a seasoned pro, very professional and came highly recommended from a competitor of theirs who couldnt solve my A/C problem (!) Pricing was extremely fair, transparent, and quote and repair turnaround time was QUICK.

Highly recommend! My car broke down and Clara was so helpful with getting me a tow truck, Mechanic had my shifter cable fixed very fast whole experience was about 2hrs from calling to getting a tow to getting back on the road. I also met Steve towards the end and he was very helpful and friendly!! Thank you all for the help!

Steve and his staff are great. First mechanic shop where they are customer friendly staff all around. I was going through a rough time finding anyone willing to do the research on a part for my car he went above and beyond. Great communication between the shop and myself the customer. Very HONEST and friendly staff. Their free diagnostic is NOT upsell mimic. I had my car checked and was offered only what I needed. He recommended me to change the front tires and showed me the tire with the wire sticking out.

A friend highly recommended this place to me & Im so glad I listened! I had a strange thing happen with my hood latch not closing fully this morning after I topped off my oil. Obviously, I wanted to get it checked out as soon as possible...didnt want to have a Tommy Boy type moment on the highway!! They were able to fit me in just 2 hours after I called. Steve fixed it within a few seconds & told me to come back in a week to make sure the hood latch cable is still good. Also had him check my tire pressure & he filled them all. The cost? No charge! I know they were simple things but most places would still charge something just for checking out a problem. Steve was so helpful & friendly. I think I found my new repair shop!

Alright, so... Im happy with the service. They did an amazing job at fixing my exhaust, which split in half while I was driving due to rust.What Im not so happy about, was that no one told me that the ENTIRE UNDERCARRIAGE OF MY CAR WAS RUSTED TO OBLIVION!!!!! Like seriously... I had the brake lines rupture from the rust damage, had to rip the e-brake almost off the car and swerve across Danbury Road in Wilton almost causing a 4 car accident... and no one wants to tell me about this while you have it on the lift and looking DIRECTLY at the problem?!?!?! Disgusting...

Needing a car repair is never fun. After my dealer botched a brake pad replacement, I Googled around and decided to visit this place (unannounced). Friendly people, fair advice, fair price, same-day solution. Worked well for me.Update: the new rotors started to warp within 10000mi. I put up with that for some time but now have them replaced within less than half the lifetime of the originals. Not exactly the OEM-Equivalent aftermarket part that was promised to me.Downgrading from 5 to 3 stars for sub-par quality materials.

When I bought my first car, it was extremely stressful experience. The car was used - Honda 2005 with lots of miles on it(about 160000). I needed someone to look at it and make sure I was buying a good car that could last me for a while. I trusted AAMCO with the check up, and I am very glad I did. The service was great and helpful. I had all my questions answered, and as a first time car owner I had a lot of them and some were too silly. I was treated with respect and understanding. I left for home completely confident that I made the right choice. I have my car for almost 2 years now. It drives great, and I am thankful to AAMCO staff for helping me.

Went to AAMCO for free Service engine light check (promotion period ends in beginning of February) and had a great experience. I failed emissions test so need to get my car fixed to retest. Owner Steve got service done for me himself. I told him about all my concerns, we test drove my car to see how it works. Steve checked an oil level and it was way too low so he filled it up for me. He NEVER CHARGED me for that. Coming back to check my car in a week and see if it’s good for emission retest or needs some extra work. I’m pleased with their service so far. Thank you

I was pulling out of the gas station next door last week. Someone made a wide turn to come in so I backed up to help them and hit my muffler so hard that it bent and came of the hangers. Steve came to look at it and I rigged it up enough to get it next door. He got me right in somehow and got it straightened out and both pieces back on their hangers. I went to pay and he said no charge. I was amazed. He said I was trying to help someone and bent my muffler and didnt want to charge me for trying to help someone. I was very appreciative of the gesture, because it was totally unexpected. I would definitely go back again.

When it was time to change brake pads on my 2007 Toyota, I decided on AAMCO Norwalk purely based on the 5-star reviews I read here. Let me add my voice to the choir - Steve has a way about him that immediately makes the customers feel comfortable. In a business that sometimes gets an bad rap, Steve is an honest and knowledgeable guy who takes the time to get to know his customers, and is sincerely interested in keeping people happy and driving safely. I came from out of state but I was in the area for the weekend. Steve was very quick to get me in, knew exactly what was wrong, and fixed my car with no problems before I make the trip back home. He also heard my boyfriends car and gave him power steering fluid even though we weren’t there for it. He was very nice and I would absolutely recommend.

I highly recommend this shop. My 2008 Jeep Wrangler needed a large repair job. The original quote from Chrysler Dealer was twice the man hours than AAMCO in Norwalk quoted me. Just had to replace front steel brake lines on my Chevy S-10 which I replace for $79 in parts for all needed lines!! and notice after paying almost $900 dollars to replace rear brake line that the line wasn’t replaced all the way to ABS module!!!

We had work done on a Chevy Suburban over the years. Steve always did a good job and the price was fair. When you need a mechanic you can trust - this is the place to go. You can feel confident they are only repairing the things that you need. When you dont know that much about cars (me!) it is a great comfort.

Super friendly and honesty. It is not cheap, but they dont rip you off. They do good jobs and honor and warrant their works. I had my transmission done there, although it was not cheap ( but transmission work has never been cheap no matter where you go). I just had my U-join and seal replaced, and the under-car noise that bothered me is gone! Again, it was not cheap, but I dont feel I was ripped off. Ive been in AAMCO twice. The first time, I brought my car for a change of pads and rotors, and the second one was to fix the engine splash shield. The service was excellent. Steve and his team are helpful and friendly.

I am a new customer, and I had the pleasure of meeting with Steve personally. I was provided the best customer service experience Ive ever had.Steve was able to diagnose a rattling noise from underneath my Nissan Rogue within 10 minutes, and within the hour had fixed it along with my failed signal light, and check engine light.I highly recommend visiting AAMCO on Main Ave in Norwalk for any automotive repair needs.

They may or may not do good work, but, after checking out what others charge for similar services, we were probably ripped off by these pretend friendly people. In fact, it would have been cheaper to go to the dealer. Shame on them. We are seniors and thankful that there is a State agency that looks into the overcharging to some of us.

Steve and his crew went above and beyond for my family. We are from Colorado and traveling for the summer. While passing through CT we heard a noise coming from one of our tires turns out our calipers seized on one of our back tires ruining the brakes and rotors. It was 4:15pm when we rolled in and they close at 5pm. Steve warmly greeted us and didnt hesitate for one second to assist us, instead he picked up the phone got the parts we needed and put two of his guys on the job. We have our two kids with us and Steve suggested restaurants where we could grab an early dinner while we waited. He even came over and check in on us at dinner and made sure we were being taken care of. In just about an hour we went from a major car issue to being back up and running and on our way. I would not for a moment hesitate to recommend this shop to anyone in the area. Its refreshing in todays world to find this level us service.

Horrible experience with this place! Had our transmission rebuilt on my 2008 Ford Edge about 6mos ago, spent $4,200+, and since being rebuilt, Ive had to bring it back 5X for the SAME problems: Transmission continues to leak, knocking, and getting stuck in gears. Last night my husband and I were stuck in Yonkers at 1AM because the transmission wouldnt shift out of first gear! We called AAMCO in Yonkers and they wanted to charge us $200 to get the car. AAMCO corporate of course has no customer service line to file complaints. STAY AWAY from this location and company!

What a fiasco. my car was towed there bc the axel broke. when i picked it up it was driving horribly but it was the end of the day and i had to get home. they said they test drove it. what?? the stability control failure light was blinking and it said across the LED screen stability control failure. the steering wheel was so crooked i had to hold the wheel at 12 and 6 to keep it straight. when i called the next day they said that it was like that when it came in. that was their answer. turned out the tie rods were bent at a 70 degree angle and my tires were all messed up/non-aligned.PS they also way over charged me. when i had the job priced in the Danbury area 2 shops gave me a price of less than half what they charged. Bad, bad, bad....

Condescending ppl. As soon as I stepped out they were talking negative about...no respect for customers. There was a lady there who was $2000 deep on her 3rd time there and she couldnt undee understand they were sucking her dry of her money. I would advise ppl go elsewhere... There are far better shops in Norwalk.
