The boat industry is cranking, but Tinus still chooses to focus on every customers interaction regardless of who they are. I pulled a last minute fast one and in all honesty Erik had every right to tell me to take a hike. Im so pleased with their customer service and knowledge surrounding all things marine. Thanks a lot Team for your customer loyalty!

Have a 200 optimax that was having throttle problems. First mechanic we took it to too 4 months to tell us he couldnt figure it out. Second one made it worse and now it didnt even start. Tinus found the spark plugs were bad. Took it home and unfortunately we still had throttle problem. They were waiting for us the next morning and found a bad fuel pump. Works better than when we bought it 6 years ago.

Was quoted a 3 week lead time for a pontoon trailer on March 17th. Today marks 12 weeks now with no trailer. I understand the market situation is challenging and lead times have been extended, but the lack of communication and responsiveness is not professional. Each time we call for an update we get ill check but no one every comes back to us. on the rare occasion they do, its waiting for an update from the MFG: At this point i am fearful TInus has actually received trailers in and sold it at a higher price to someone else and moved me to the bottom of the list so they can make more money quicker.

1) I was excessively overcharged on labor for simple repairs (I paid the bill and didnt complain)2) Next day I went to use the boat and didnt work properly (mechanic rushed the job and didnt take the time to confirm his repairs) He didnt reconnect the power to the trim and didnt check the temperature gauge after he replaced it.3) I towed the boat back the next day and spent 3 hours while he attempted to correct the problem (which I had already paid for the previous day)4) They broke the tabs on my dash panel by over-tightening the screws while replacing the temperature gauge (see photos). The dash panel for this boat is no longer available, so I cant even buy a replacement, i just have to live with it.5) I was charged me $50 for fuel (which I found out the next day was only for 5 gallons)I was very respectful and spoke with both Eric Tinus (service) and Tim Tinus (owner) on two separate occasions about my dissatisfaction with the quality of the service/repairs. Tim Tinus even thanked me for discussing it with him in a professional manor. Both Eric and Tim said they would see what they would do and get back with me. Since that time, I have called AND emailed both of them. Both of them have been completely NON-responsive (that was two months ago)I understand mistakes happen, however, it appears they are more concerned about retaining all my money... then about admitting their mistakes and offering a reasonable credit.I would NOT recommend Tinus Marine

Rented a pontoon from Tinus Marine and HIGHLY recommend. I mustve called them about 10 between the time I made the reservation and the actual date of the reservation. Each time I called, the person I spoke with was always friendly and helpful. The day of the reservation, the boat was delivered on time and was spotless. We were given a mini tour, tips on where to go and instructions for maneuvering the boat. Our family had a blast and we will definitely rent from Tinus again!

The entire experience was rushed I asked about adding additional equipment and was told they were too busy. Basically take my money somewhere else. I asked specific questions about the trolling motor and got a response with the trolling motor basically copied and pasted from the same information I could read online. No warranty information was given to me. I was told the boat was ready for the water. I ran my boat for about an hour on the water the first time to break in the engine according to Mercury Marines suggestions. After stopping to fish my boat literally started sinking. The entire floor, and rear of boat was submerged in water. I quickly turned the bilge on and slowly crept about a half mile back to the dock. Once removed I found the dealer had installed the plug in the wrong hole and the entire boat was FULL of water including my battery compartments and carpet. I brought this to the attention of the sales person and was told they were Sorry. Nothing further. Who is going to clean my boat? Also the boat has MULTIPLE damages to it including paint damages. The trailer also has paint damage to it. This should have never been delivered and the Marine dealer could have a serious liability almost causing two people to drown. This experience has NOT been good and I would never return here for work in the future nor would I suggest anyone use their services or sales.

We brought our Pontoon boat here in need of a trim motor. Ours worked, but went up and down hard. When we got there and told them we had a Honda motor, they did not look happy. After 1 week we were told they were having a hard time finding a trim motor. 1 week later were told they cant fix it and to come pick up boat. So devastated. Now what? Were charged $136.50 for diagnosing and a few phone calls. Within 2 hours we found the trim motor on the internet in Tennessee. After talking with others were took it to an electrical place and they fixed it for $35.00. I mean...what the hell. We put you in charge of getting us back on the water, and you blew it. These steps we took to fix, you couldnt have done. Isnt that what we were paying you for?? You should be ashamed. I was going to call and ask for part of my money back, but in previous reviews, that looks like that would never happen. You just lost my business

The Blue Spring Lake Water Ski Team recently purchased a Tow Boat. Erik Tinus was very accommodating for the water test, and the ultimate sale of the boat. In addition the boat was sold as is and we had a small mechanical issue. Tinus fixed the issue no questions asked within a reasonable amount of time. We are very pleased with the dedication to customer service!!

After booking a pontoon rental through their website and receiving email confirmation of said booking, I subsequently received a voice message stating that this was an error, and there are no pontoons available to rent. The voice message indicated that I should call them back to discuss options. Upon calling back, the only option offered was a full refund for the boat rental! How generous and thoughtful of them considering my rental will not be used due to their system error.Deplorable customer service, will not be using again and would caution others as well to avoid renting from Tinus Marine!!

I just recently had my 2000 Seadoo Challenger serviced at Tinus Marine. I can’t say enough about the experience. I’ve been to numerous marinas over the years and Tinus is by far the best experience I’ve had. The job that needed to be done required a lot of labor and several other marinas refused to help me. Tinus was straightforward with pricing and time frame from the start and did a great job fixing the issue. I took the boat out the same day I got it back and it’s performing better than ever. Friends of mine were commenting on the improved performance as well. Highly Recommend Tinus Marine!

I live in Duluth and purchased a used Malibu from Tinus Marine that they sold originally. I was very impressed with the friendly, straight forward approach to the sale. I drove 6 hours to get the boat. When I arrived it was sitting out front waiting for me and they had it looking immaculate. They were thorough in the test drive and teaching me how to use this newer boat with extensive technology. Mark, the salesperson, gave me his card and said other than Sunday mornings when I golf Im always available for questions. First class service and organization. When I purchase my next boat, despite living 6 hours away, I will start with them. Thank you, Tinus Marine.

We met Mark at the Milwaukee boat show thinking it might be fun to get a upper deck pontoon with water slide. Every upper decker we saw had three pontoons, a problem because of our shallow shore line. Mark said they had one at the shop in Oconomowoc with two pontoons. We took the kids to check it out. Mark/Tinus put together a deal we couldn’t refuse. We needed a smaller motor than it had (same reason as 2 pontoons) and figured a fifty horsepower would be fine. Even though he originally priced a 50 horse Mark looked into it and figured out the 50 and 60 horsepower Mercury motors use the same engine block and weighed the same. Winter finally passed and Mark launched the boat and did a detailed walk through answering questions. While everything was great up to this point this is where Tinus earned this review. At a little over half throttle the propeller would suck air from the surface. The result was in spite of having much more thrust the boat went no faster, even slowed down. As a brand new boat there was no way to realize it until we were out in the cold and in a hurry to get home. I texted Mark, he responded almost immediately asking what day can he stop over with a different prop. Mark showed up with a boat warming gift and a four bladed propeller. He wasn’t sure it would work but said it would give us an idea of what we need. After he swapped them out on the spot we went out for a test run. The boat is very heavy and catches wind like a sail. I immediately noticed better steerage leaving the dock. When we got out on the lake not only was there more power the boat was considerably faster because it wasn’t sucking air. Mark thought perhaps we would be gain bite but slowing the RPMs might sacrifice speed. Boat owners how often does any simple little issue get resolved this quick and completely? And Mark treated our family like friends from the day we met him. I imagine the propeller has to be an upgrade… Tinus never even mentioned a cost for the upgrade or the incredibly gracious service call. Highly recommend!

I purchased a used pontoon boat from Tinus Marine. I was told the boat was a Tinus boat, that Tinus had performed all the maintenance and full inspection on the boat, giving me the confidence to purchase it. Turns out there was a large hole in a pontoon and the engine died (totaled) in under 10 hours of operation, and never really ran well. In short Tinus basically said, tough luck when the problems surfaced even though we only had the boat a couple of months. Owner/President Steve Tinus hardly acknowledged me as a customer despite our familys history of purchasing boats.

Very frustrating experience with their service department save yourself the time, money and frustration and take your boat elsewhere. To sum it up the service manager told me multiple times it looked like I just bought a bad boat. They were unable to repair it after having it for 3 weeks. Took my inboard motor ski boat in for service asking for several items to be addressed the main item is engine would not turn more than 3,000rpm. They gave me a 2 week estimate for time which fit my timeline. I was leaving for vacation in 18 days. To sum it up I called multiple times and they did not look at my boat until day 16 and then was unable to repair because they needed 3rd party carburetor person to work on it and he could not get parts. So I picked it up and overpaid for what I would call a tune-up but main problem not fixed. I stated I would bring back after vacation to complete the work as it still did run just not full power. When I picked it up I noticed the trailer brakes had been damaged with brake line being pulled out. I took it back afterword and they completed the carburetor work and it still did not solve the problem. They stated I could come pick it up and they could not repair. Trying to bill me again for additional repair the only bright side is they cut my bill in half for not being able to fix the problem. When they brought it out of the storage area the boat was bounding around as it was not even on the trailer all the way after they took it for the last lake run with it. After pointing it out I waited while they hooked it up to their hoist to put it on the trailer correctly. Finally when I got it to the lake and went to start it would not start. The throttle seemed extra loose I figured they must have lubed it. No the linkage was not hooked back up to the carburetor. They had ever excuse in the book every time I talked with them and after 3 weeks and nearly $1000 the RPM problem was no better then when I took it to them for repair.

Tried to order a dash panel part for my Bass Tracker from the parts dept.I am in the parts business (construction industry) and know all the info I would need to order a simple part, so I have my I have my; model, build year, hull ID # etc... but that was useless, didnt matter. He said he couldnt help me if I didnt have the PART NUMBER!?!?!I asked, if they were a Bass Tracker dealer? He replied. yes.I then asked if I should, contact a Bass Tracker dealer for the part number? He wasnt able to help me.Left me a little confused on who I should contact if I want Bass Tracker parts? A Dodge dealer? Kohls? NAPA? Ranger boat dealer? Pick & Save?Never would have thought it was going to be all that complicated. My very next phone call to another Bass Tracker dealer was able to help me (45 miles away). At least my company has a branch down the road from that dealership so I can have one of my guys there get my part to me.

It’s a good store to go to for parts, but I will not go there for service again. They never quoted a diagnostic fee. When I decided not to do the repair ($800 to take apart carbs on an outboard) they told me I owe $120 for having it there. The mechanic who called me with the $800 quote stated all he needed to do was read the description of the problem and he knew it was carbs. So basically they never moved it around or did any work on it, even though they had the boat for 2 weeks. If I was quoted the $120 in the first place it would be a different story, but throwing that out there after I said no to their repair is poor business. I’m also in the service industry and would back off the service charge immediately if I knew my office forgot to tell the customer. The people on the phone make it sound like you are annoying them when you call after 2 weeks of not hearing anything about your boat also. Bad Business!
