Good Decent 4 star hotel in Moscow, massive in size, 28 floors and may be 3000 rooms, well maintained, good courteous staff inspite of language barriers, they try to help, the locality is good with very different restaurants and eateries of all the cuisine in the world, peck duck a Vietnamese, Chinese restaurant was our favorite 😀 👍👍
The Aurora Cruiser is an enjoyable visit and has so much historical significance. The museum, the ship, is not large so a visit only takes 30-40 minutes, but it costs the same or close to the Hermitage which is no comparison. If coming for a short time to the city and you have limited opportunities, then photograph this impressive ship from the outside and go on to other sites. My family loved it, but we live here.
We enjoyed looking around the boat, was worth a visit. You cant take a bag on it but there are lockers. If you can buy the tickets online to avoid the queue.
Saint Petersburg is a City full of very interesting things to see. One of the must see attractions is the Aurora battle cruiser which played an important role in the first world war and the October Revolution in 1917.The ship is now a museum. Most of the deck is accessible for visitors and in the below deck are the main museum exhibits. Definitely worth a visit!
Aurora (Russian: Авро́ра) is a 1900 Russian protected cruiser, currently preserved as a museum ship in Saint Petersburg. Aurora was active during the Russo-Japanese War in 1905. Aurora survived the Battle of Tsushima. One of the first incidents of the October Revolution 1917 in Russia took place on the cruiser Aurora, which reportedly fired the first shot, signalling the beginning of the attack on the Winter Palace
Worst museum ship experience ever.....The basic 700 ruble ticket will confine you to only walk on 15% of the deck and to see 4 sanitized museum like rooms 1 deck below. And dont touch anything on deck or the guards will bark at you.If you want to see more, you will need to pay like 10,000 rubles and be in a group.
Short glance from our tour bus so ive given the chance to take photo for this ship
You should do it once to see if with your own eyes, but I would not repeat the experience. Half of the upper deck was closed due to some preparations. The rest mostly contained monitors with movies.
Professional guys handling cruise
Nice museum to visit in st Petersburg
This is a Cruiser Ship from the 1900s which was in service from Russo Japan war to World War 2. This ship played a very important role in the October Revolution. At 9.40pm on 25 October 1917 (Old Style; 7 November New Style) a blank shot from her forecastle gun signaled the start of the assault on the Winter Palace, which was to be the beginning of the October Revolution.A very beautiful Cruiser which has a naval museum inside.
This ship is worth to visit. Afterall it is a symbol of the revolution. It can happen, as today, that there are long queues to buy tickets. Foreigners pay more than Russians, 700 rubles instead of 400. You cant fool them as they chceck your documents if you are russian or not. Once you enter the ship ypu can visit the upper brigde where you can take photos of the city. You can also visit the under bridge where there is an exibition about the history of the ship. Unfortunately most of the descriptions are in russian, only main facts are explained in english.
Very nice battleship, historical and nice.
Must visit this beautiful battleship from 1900
A landmark in Russian War History, Cruiser Aurora is a must visit attraction. If anyone wants to get an idea how Russia survived through its dark times then Aurora is for sure a symbol of hope.
Great attraction! Best to get there when the weather is fine. Museum below deck was a disappointment and its a pity you cant see the engine room etc
Historic place and for sure the symbol of bolshevik revolution. 4 stars, as some expositions lacks English translation.
If you are into your naval history, like me, then this is a must on any visit to St. Petersburg. Caveat: not all exibits have an English translation so a smattering of Cyrillic will help - alternatively do some research prior to your visit. As you will know this was the ship that fired the first (blank) shot of the October Revolution but it had both a proud history before - Russia Japanese War, Baltic patrols during WWI, and afterwards - Siege of Leningrad in WWII. Whilst the name of her home city has changed St. Petersburg; Petrograd; Leningrad; & back to St. Petersburg the name of the ship has remained the same. She has served, and continues to serve, them all.
Lots of history of Russian navy and the Cruisers participation in the Russian Revolution.
Wonderful place! The view from the ship is breathtaking. The museum has interesting items, but is not huge! It is a nice place.
Must see place in Petrograd, security is very strict no water bottles or backpacks are allowed on the ship.
Very nice and classic museum
Its a great historical place.
First time i visit a war ship. Bought a ticket and entranced. Now the ship is a museum. Its well maintaing for visiters. Deck is good for photos too. Inside the ship, the entire history is display in a proper way.As the ship has more than 100 year, it looks as new.
Just to stand and stare at this incredible restoration is enough. However, and its a big however, it is awfully crowded and there is no international English signage. Add to that the background of capitalist corporation signage, the nervous security detail, the usual infestation of tour touts and the oddly costumed models wanting to be photographed with you and the gravity is somewhat diminished
It was the first time I had seen it. It was marvelous, but I didnt feel anything special.
Its ok. Nothing much to comment about.
The cruiser Aurora played a big role during the October Revolution in Russia. It is very interesting to see this ship in the middle of the city. You can reach it by walk from the Peter and Paul Cathedral.
Best thing regarding history .The preserved and well maintained eye catching beautiful ship of world war 2
The view is really breathtaking
One of the very few ships of the era, that survived to this day. Worth visiting.
Lovely cruiser, in a wonderful form and interesting exhibitions. The only downside is the long queue
Awesome view and location.
Beautiful place. 10 minutes at most. I will recommend a visit with a guide to know about the importance
The Afraola cruiser was launched in 1900 at the Naval Shipyard in St. Petersburg and was commissioned in 1902. The captain is 124 meters long, with a ship width of 17 meters and a displacement of 6,730 tons. Aphroda means Twilight, which refers to the goddess of Sichen in ancient Roman mythology. The name of the Aphroda was inherited from the fast sailing Аврора launched in 1835, while the name of the Аврора (fast sailing) was derived from the servant Аврора Карловна Карамзина of the Queen of the Tsar Nicholas I.When the Japanese-Russian War broke out in 1904, the Aphrodite was sent to the Far East to reinforce with the Russian Second Pacific Fleet. In May 1905, the Russian fleet was almost completely wiped out in the Battle of the Strait. The Aphrodite left the Russian fleet, turned around and crossed the Strait of Ma, and finally arrived in the Philippines and was detained and returned to Russia after the war. That is a huge ship.
Russian battleship museum at Saint Petersburg . Beside you can also visit Russian Navi’s 1st battleship. Awesome experience . Must visit place.
Didnt visit inside, but the view of ship outside was great. Ship is magnificent, enough for to aw that its a historical ship.
Unique example of Russian warship from this period
Such a cool ship. Very well preserved!
Kind of a must-see in St Petersburg, but that doesnt mean its terribly exciting. You walk on the deck and pose for a few photos, and then go downstairs into the museum bit. You wont see much/any of what the interior used to look like, as it has been gutted to make room for the exhibitions. The Cruiser Aurora is most famous for firing the shot that signalled the storming of the Winter Palace in the October Revolution, and hence was a golden calf in Soviet times. Nowadays, the government has to tread a fine line of pleasing both the USSR-was-awesome and the Czarism-was-awesome cliques, so the exhibits are split between commemorating the role of the cruiser in the revolution, as well as its service in the Czars navy.Tick it off your bucketlist, and never visit again.
Very interesting museum. A lot of historical facts. Good for kids
Interesting historical ship, well-known for its participation in the 1917 revolution.
Legendary Cruiser Aurora. Here is photo from my online webcam
Incredible experience. They have student discounts.
Well renovated and lots of pictures
Beautiful place. Neva river is amasing.
We arrived after 1800hrs so it was closed and we could not go on board. We did not mind it as outside there were a lot of funny people and we could meet Lenin.
If you love history, if you love old military ships - this is what you need. Magnificent Aurora was built in the beginning of 19 century.
I have seen it only from outside, the queue was to long.
I’m very love to come here
One of the basic monument of Petersburg
Nice attraction to explore
Magnificent cruise 🛳
Beautiful place, amazing view.
Overall good experience. Ship is well maintained and there are some exhibitions inside with videos and photos. Free for Russian citizens on some days. Be prepared to put your backpacks into somewhat questionable storage before entering the ship. No free tours available for visitors, but saw some politicians there for a private VIP tour.
Amazing
High quality cruiser
Very interesting if you like your history. Nice bit of engineering too. Bit of a stroll out from the city centre, but easily done. The boat which started a communist revolution seems to be a magnet for rich young kids on their grad night who want to be photographed in front of it drinking champagne! At least 3 limos pulled up while I was there. Theres a good joke in there somewhere!!
The ship is very large and provides an excellent exposition around its own history as well as the history of the early days after the October Revolution of 1917. The cruiser is well restored and Id certainly recommend a visit also for families with kids
Fantastic monument
Supperior ship
History place, most visit.
Nice place
A very beautifully restored ship with a rich history. Even if you are not interested in the part this ship has played in the modern history of Russia, it is still wort a look just to see how mighty these old ships were.
I saw the boat only from outside, because it was during the big city tour. Very severe look, very revolutionary look! There is a museum inside, and there is even a crew! However the vessel cannot sail now. It is one of the symbols of our city.
Loved it
Historical place, but a bit boring exhibition. You need to take a guide to understand everything.
Cool place. Interesting museum. Nicely restored. It is still very relevant to Russian culture (unfortunately in my mind). Visit if you can to better understand the culture.
Not too much to see, but something you have to do when in St. Petersburg
I like this museum. Real battle ship with story in it.
Very well worth a visit for the historical significance, not to mention the rare chance to visit any ship well over 100 years old. I wish it hadnt been so cold and blustery so I could have spent more time exploring the upper deck and enjoying the amazing views. Fortunately it was nice and warm below deck and the exhibits on the ships history were very interesting. Makes a nice combined visit with the Museum of Political History, and the neighborhood is nice and quiet and much less changed than along Nevsky.
Nice place to visit. U can see so much that u cant in other museums. Pharaohs, their belongings and so many things
Entry cost 700 Rubles for Foreigners. Absolutely waste of money. 15 minutes on the Deck with Guns and Shells and 15 min in the lower floor with memorabilia from the Ship history strictly in Russian Language and hard to even translate. Same amount of money as Hermitage!! Avoid. Go see from outside only
Its a fairly impressive battleship but surprisingly poor exposition. Museum is pretty small. Most areas are out of bounds for visitors. Extremely dangerous, slippery ramp from shore to ship - may be OK in summer but in winter with snow and ice it is a real hazard. The best part of the ship is actually its exterior.
Awesome !
Great!! 👍👍👍
OK, yes its an historical site and the ship is maintained beautifully but..Its rather expensive at 700 ruble. There isnt really all that much too see in the ship itself. To make it even less attractive to foreigners the entire exhibition is in Russian and there are no guides in other languages available. My advice, admire the ship from the quay and spend your 700 rubles elsewhere. Additional warning, the actors in period costume in front of the ship are not part of the exhibition and just demand 1000 rubles for a photo!
Although a permanently moored museum, its still registered as an active naval ship. Not only a active war history but significant symbol of the Russian Revolution, with the front gun firing the signal to storm the Palace. In very good condition and popular for photos.
Amazing
A floating Museum
Quite far off St. Petersburgs other main attractions, but worth the walk. This ship is full of history, and has been a landmark in Russian war history since before the revolution. It is well maintained and taken care of, and the ticket to go inside is not that pricey.
The ship is really wonderful. If I could, Id give 10 stars. But you cant go on board and that was kinda sad. So all you can do is just taking pics from the pier
Nice museum, this ship fired a volley to mark a 1917 revolution. Some people mistakenly think it was firing rounds in to winter palace . But it is not a true. Recommend to visit.
A beautiful cruiser 🚢
Good display and easy to reach.Small enough to do quickly but ticket lines are unnecessarily too long.
