I’ve been going to this store since it opened. It’s my grocery store of choice. Well arranged and not too big but carries a nice variety of products.

Recently remodeled store with updated displays and newly installed self checkouts. Great selection of items that are of higher quality. Prices can be more expensive, but some sales are really good deals. The salad bar is great with fresh produce/vegetables, plenty of meat/protein options, as well as prepared salads/mixes.

Hen House staff are always willing to go the extra mile. Their meat department is wonderful. Bonus: They carry Tippins and Farm to Market items as well as Wolfermanns English muffins -- all KC favorites!

The place is clean and has a wonderful selection of food and goodies. All the staff are extremely helpful and friendly. Love shopping here.

Hen house has always been my choice for bougie food options, ever since I grew up between two of them in VERY close proximity in Prairie Village. So do I actively seek out this location? Well, no, because I live way over by downtown Olathe and there isnt a Hen House near the historic district. BUT, it sure is a good bit of nostalgia to shop at one when Im already around one. You know whats cool about Hen House? Everything, according to 9 year old me and corroborated by my now 9 year old kid. Get a fruit and granola parfait and some fresh juice to perk you up. Adds that perfect touch to a ridiculously busy evening with my 9 year old kid, so itll probably fix whatever kind of day youre having.

Called from across the street at Walmart just now to ask if they had sea cuisine garlic tilapia. Got transferred and then the next person rudely told me I needed to be transferred again to seafood (while I had absolutely no issue with this). The third person to pick up said he was going to check if they carry it or not. I stayed on the line and was able to drive over, park, physically walk in and see they don’t carry it, and then walk back to my car before I was taken off hold. I stayed on the line until for another minute and then was hung up on. Ended up getting the product from Price Chopper. What’s the point of insanely high prices if there isn’t insanely good (or even okay) customer service?

Lots of selections and fresh meat market. This is my go to place for the best and fresh chicken. Produce is plentiful and many many selections. Their salad bar is also very convenient and well stocked. Another thing I like getting here are items in the International food isle that I cant get from other neighborhood groceries.

Wonderful store! They have everything you could ask for. Produce is beautiful! Meat, poultry and fish selections are awesome! Employees are so nice and helpful!

Super great place. They remodeled a lot of it and I think it came out very nicely. Also the cashier Logan is super nice, you should give him a raise.

I absolutely love the remodel of the store. The customer service seems to be a lot better than 12-18 months ago. Not sure what the change is, but keep it up. Hen House is very convenient to my house and I love shopping there.

Samar has the worst customer service ever. I was not aware that hen house did not accept wic. She rudely asked me why I couldn’t pay without wic. And asked me to use another form of payment. I told her I’m not going to waste seventy dollars when I cash go somewhere else and use the wic. She the snatched the groceries out of my shopping cart and told one of the baggers to put them away. I apologized to my cashier and left.

Great store plenty of snacks in the Synders and Lance line along with Cape Code chips!!

Very clean. The staff is very helpful and professional. The prices arent the cheapest around town but paying a little extra for good costumer service and a clean store are worth it to me.

Henhouse doesnt get the rave reviews like some of the big supermarket stores like Walmart. Its a great place to shop. Amazing salad bar with fresh lettuce and fixings. The place has a small deli. The staff is helpful and available to ask questions.

They are having a grand opening after an extensive remodel. The store looks nice and modern.

My 1st time. The Bone in Rib Eye were cut for me. Wonderful experience and store. Did I mention the great service? 👍

Always nice and helpful. Beef tenderloins are $5.99 . They go on sale every couple weeks. Meat counter will cut them up for you for free.

My wife and I purchased their Thanksgiving prime rib dinner for two. When my wife picked it up she said the employees had trouble organizing and took quite a while to get everyone their meals. Thats fine as we all know that during this time there are longer lines.What was unacceptable was having to come back to the store to get the horseradish sauce that was advertised and not received.So, going back to the store the next day to wait in line 10 minutes for 4 oz of horseradish was not ideal. We will probably shop at hyvee from now on.

Nice store with a decent selection. Some things can be hard to find as they are in your typical location as in most grocery stores. Great for shopping convenience, but cost is a bit more than other stores in the area.

I love the selection at this Hen House, but I think the prices could be better.

On my way to work and needing to make every minute count.I decide to make a quick dash into Hen House to get some tuna salad and bread for my supper. I approach the deli area and observe one customer already being waited on. Slicing ham.Ten minutes later Im still waiting to be served (or even acknowledged) as three (3) separate Hen House Deli employees slice ham and salami and box up twice baked potatoes for the one customer.I am finally waited on without apology and I am finally on my way ...Heres a newsflash, kids ... I have options. I prefer Hen House, but I am quite certain I can frequent any number of other places in Olathe that would be almost as good without the long wait, high prices and apparent indifference.Be better ...

Employees were wearing masks but most were only covering their mouths, not their noses, which defeats the purpose. Some items lacked variety as well. Ill happy change my rating to 5 stars if the mask situation is corrected.

Hen House is a really good store with fresh meat, fresh produce and good prices.

Clean, well stocked store. Even more so with this COVID-19. Staff is friendly, in all departments.

The meat department is again stacking beef liver too high in the bunker freezer and the packages on the top are not frozen solidly. I spoke with the new manager who went to check on the situation. This is the fourth time in the last year that this has happened.2020-09-03 I visited this store again recently and the issue with the beef liver was fixed by making the bunker area twice as wide as it was. This allows the same amount of product to sit lower in the freezer and remain frozen.

Beautiful newly remodeled store!

This was a quick stop, we ran in looking for Chinese food for lunch and were disappointed not to find any. The deli area looked tempting, and the salad bar had quite a few selections. We ended up going elsewhere, but will keep this in mind for future deli stops. From a quick glance, the grocery area looked great!

Not sure what is going on with this location Hen House store. I have decided this is my last trip here, but still will go to the college and quivira location.My daughter loves to ride in their kids shopping cart, but they were filthy this time. I had no choice since that was my daughter s favorite thing at Hen house. For some reason they decided to store them outside (thats okay, if they keep them clean). I had to go inside and ask for some paper towels at the customer service. I cleaned the cart as much as I could while 3 employees watched me and moved away. What a customer service.The freshness of the fruits are going down each time I come there. Today I picked up a bag of grape and everything in the bottom is rotten and a bad smell.I love Hen houses fresh meat and was hoping to get some tonight. However, I arrived at the store around 8:30pm CT, the fresh meat dept, deli, salad bar, and vegetable area have all been closed. Very disappointed!

Henhouse does an above average job when it comes to fresh items, fruits, vegetables, seafood. You pay for that difference in some ways. They do have good sales, like this week, and we try to take full advantage of them.

We shop there once a month or so, since we dont live close to it anymore. Had some very good deals today. But once again we neglected to pay close attention at the deli. We asked for 1 lb of chicken salad husband didnt notice he was actually given 2 lb size. Probably more then the two of us will be able to consume, unless we eat it every meal for couple of days.

The employees are always very nice.

Excellent bakery and deliHot foods, sandwiches, and salads. Wonderful employees and pleasant shopping experience. Sometimes the music is slightly too loud. Other than that have no complaints. Also very easy to get in and out of large parking lot. My Lyft driver can pull right up to the front entrance and help with bags of groceries.

Enjoy coming here. Prices can be a bit more high or slightly cheaper then some of the competitors around the area. BUT, you dont have to go elbow to elbow when shopping as you do at Wal-Mart. Plus they sell a lot of local items. Support your local economy.

Aaron the Butcher gets special kudos for his Food Network-quality demonstration of how to trim and filet a whole beef tenderloin! What a pro! Im impressed.

Going today for a few items reminded me why I dont usually shop at Henhouse. Finding stewed tomatoes was difficult. Finding creole seasoning was near impossible. There used to be someone waiting to offer help, no one noticed or cared to point me in the right direction. After looking, I finally gave up and went to checkout to get help. Btw Creole seasoning is by fish, would be lovely to be with spices too as Im putting it in a chili recipe. Difference of two isles or the whole store which we all know is the goal, on the way maybe you will pick up more. :0P

This is a high end grocery store. I bought lunch and it was amazing. I had never been there before, everyone was very helpful in helping me find the things I needed.

Almost always find what im seeking

Wanted to give kudos to the meat department, wish I had gotten the particular butchers name who helped me. Was have a small early Thanksgiving get together at my home and wanted to try a special recipe that I found. For the recipe I needed a boneless Turkey breast. Went to Hy-Vee where I normally shop (basically because that is where my roommate shops). They did not have boneless Turkey breast but sold me some sort of boneless Butterball roast. Once I got home I really did not feel that this would work and wanted to make the recipe exact as it was my first attempt. So I called Price Chopper and they only had the same thing but this butcher was nice enough to tell me it would not work for my recipe and would only fall apart. So before finding a butcher store I decided to call Hen House. The butcher was very nice and said he did not have one but could debone a breast for me. Great, I headed right over and they had it waiting for me upon arrival. It had been several years since I had been in this store and loved it immediately. Will be shopping there over the next few weeks to check prices on my normal stuff and variety. Thank you so much my meal was delicious and a huge success. Customer service is key!

Hen House is well known to have the best produce section around, as well as one of the best meat depts. On top of that, Id be in a bad spot for holiday groceries if Hen House werent around, due to the Tippins pies and that last prepared side item you always seem to need. However, you will pay a premium for it: Hen House is about the things you cant get elsewhere, theyre not trying to undersell anyone, so when Im just out for staples I generally go elsewhere.

Went to get a wild caught salmon fillet and was immediately helped at the seafood counter and was able to procure an amazing coho fillet! Their meat and seafood counters have some of the best product in the entire city.

Great place to shop for food. Cashier very personable and stocking people went the extra mile to get the answer for me.

Although their normal prices are high, their sales are good. The service there is very good. The main reason I visit this store is for the free snacks they hand out.

Hen House is absolutely the best place to buy groceries. The deli, produce, meat and bakery are second to none and the staff is always friendly and helpful.

After we moved to the area I was excited about checking out Hen House. The outside of the store makes it look like a nice place. But I shop clean...meaning organic...no processing blah blah blah.Hen House touts local meat and produce. However, there wasnt an once of grass fed beef to be found in the store!!! When I questioned the butcher he simply stated that it was all local Kansas meat. No growth hormones or antibiotics is important and local is meaningless to that point. No one should care if it is local if it isnt GRASS FED!!! Cows arent meant to eat CORN (one main reason they need antibiotics to begin with!)!Basically NO organic options otherwise. Walmart across the street has better options in that regard for WAY less.Despite this being the closest grocery store near our house, I have avoided the place like it doesnt exist for years now (once or twice in an emergency and left without buying...both times went to Walmart instead, ugh). I dont understand how this places still exists with their ridiculous prices and zero selection!

Henhouse is pricey but carries a terrific and diverse selection, including specialty items and brands. Their butcher shop is amazing as are their seafoods. Wide variety of fresh produce, great salad/soup bar, gourmet cheeses and condiments. A large selection of foods prepared in-house, including entrees and sides (even their meatloaf rules the world). Fresh sandwiches and fried chicken bar for quick lunches, including a nice dine-in area. A sushi station. Convenient ez prep “bagged” meals (include entree, sides, dessert...good enough you’ll pretend you made it) and day-of-the-week specials on boxed DIY meals, with unique selections like buffalo burgers. Don’t go hungry (standard grocery shopping protocol) but if you do, graze on delicious samples. Try their made-to-order Tuscan Salad! Tons of fresh desserts and breads. Wine and beer. Also an ample selection of personal care products. Their pharmacy is the best. Knowledgeable and friendly staff who really care about their role in your healthcare. I stock up on basics at Aldi but hit Henhouse for Special Stuff, (especially when I want someone else to cook for me!). Yay, Henhouse.

Pharmacy dries great job. I have lots of drug and other allergies. They have never made a mistake or missed a doctors error.

They have lots of organic stuff. However hyvee is cheaper on most of it.However hen house does carry good natured family farms meat, milk, butter and honey and other products. Which if you go to their website you will see its grass fed beef and local grown raw honey, free range chicken and eggs and other products. True free range from local farms, Not like some egg makers who say cage free but are really just not in a cage but stuck in a pen wall to wall with other chickens and cant move.They have the widest selection of local products of any major supermarket chain in KC. There are a few price choppers that carry some of the GNFF products but not the full range as Hen House does

Evidently Hen Houses DONT want sales. Very rude. Thats why most of time shop at the Wal-Mart thats killing all these stores.. Wasnt offered a Hen House Card to get items that was on sale. Wouldnt ALLOW multi transactions to get the items on sale... Go to Wal-mart, and get ALL you want for OTHER stores lost... Very dissatisfied with your Managers actions, and your cashier...

I like Hen House since they sell bulk Roasterie coffee which seems VERY fresh for bulk. Plus they take Apple Pay which I greatly appreciate. I would shop here more if groceries weren’t so pricy, but I understand why they can’t exactly offer Walmart prices either.
