I rented a 26 truck from Leavenworth Kansas on October 1st. I returned the same truck to this location on October 2nd within the 24 hour time limit. The problem is whoever checked the truck in didnt do it until October 3rd. So, Im being charged an extra $40 for a day I didnt have the truck. This is complete incompetence. Im trying to contact corporate now to get my money back.From reading reviews there are a lot of problems with this location. If I had known that ahead of time I would have driven to a different U-Haul location to turn the truck in.The manager Bailey got back with me on the 4th. They completely owned up to the error with my return and refunded the extra day charge to us. They didnt try and make any excuses or fight whether the truck was late or not.

Horrible customer service. Tried contacting them via phone multiple times and couldnt get an answer. The Metcalf location informed us Olathe had the vehicle we needed he tried to call and couldnt get an answer. We drove to Olathe, only to encounter an employee that obviously didnt want to assist customers. Two staff and no customers; however, they were unwilling to assist us. We would give no stars if allowed.

This is not what I typically expect from a rental service, but U-Haul managed an outstanding job, friendly and caring employees, fast handling of transaction, and offered very affordable prices.A word to management about your people here, and why I will continue to rent at this location.I was running back into town late from a job, so I called in to see if I could deliver the truck after hours and find out the fee. To my surprise, they had no issues with me coming late, explained the procedure, and didn’t charge me a thing.The friendly, accurate, and accommodating staff here has made this my go-to rental spot!Great job, guys!

We used a uhaul truck for one day and now have a Bed Bug infestation. Theres no way to get a hold of the store and I filed a complaint directly to corporate. We just moved and have NO way to financially take care of those so please, dont use this store If you value your familys health.

First of all there’s no security at this facility at all the only security measure in place is a gate with a keypad which is left open every day all dayIf you ever have to deal with Bailey, the so-called manager, you’ll find out how incompetent and over her head she is the place is a mess and I recommend you go anywhere but to this facility

The staff were incredibly helpful and polite. Fixed a towing issue for me, provided much needed information and went above and beyond in the level of service given. Highly recommend this place. The lady behind the counter and the young man who fixed things for me are employees worth their weight in gold.

I would just like to give major props to Bailey at the Olathe store. We had an unpleasant experience at a separate U-Haul and we were able to speak with her about it. She was extremely kind and went out of her way to hear our concerns. She was not faking sympathy or pretending to care, but she truly was concerned with resolving our situation. Bailey is a life saver! I had a 27 truck but at last minute needed and additional truck. She was able to accommodate our needs as well as then get us 2 huge storage units. We will always return to uhaul of olathe for all our moving needs.

The absolute worst customer service at the desk the ladies took one look at my boyfriend and decided we weren’t worth talking to or even to be friendly. We were there to make a claim about the instillation. When they put my tail light (because THEY needed to be removed to install my hitch ) THEY didn’t put them the screws back in to hold my tail light in place. Also loosing a piece to my car. It then falls out and scratch’s it on my new suv (no one else has owned) they admitted fault but denied my claim on fixing it. Are you serious??? I will tell all of my friends and post this on my face book page also. Extremely disappointed with all of this experience. Don’t go to u-haul in Olathe

I contacted this U-hual location in order to have a hitch installed on my girlfriends 2019 Ford Edge. We were looking to get it done ASAP. I gave the representative all my information over the phone and scheduled an appointment for Monday, June 8th. I was quoted a price including $10 in additional shipping to get a necessary part there in time for installation. After hanging up I never received any confirmation of my appointment through email. So the next day I decided to call again and verify everything. Again, we were trying to get this done ASAP. The person I talked to over the phone had no record of my appointment, so I was transfered to someone else. Mind you each time you call in or get transfered youre stuck waiting on hold 10-15 minutes. Once I talked to the next representative, she had information for a quote I was given but no appointment scheduled. No biggie, Id just go ahead and make the appointment then. This time however I was told it would be another $75 to ship the part needed for installation in time for Monday the 8th. I wasnt paying another $75 so I just scheduled the appointment for the next available date of Friday June 12th at 1:00 PM.So on June 12th at 1:00 PM I dropped the vehicle off for installation. I was told it would be approximately 3 hours for the installation. I had already stated that I would wait around during the installation. This location doesnt have any kind of waiting area. I wasnt aware of that when the person over the phone had asked me the question during scheduling. Since I had planned on sticking around I never bothered trying to get someone to pick me up at the time I was dropping the vehicle off. With no ride or waiting area I decided to just walk around the area for 3 hours and keep myself occupied. So I returned to the location at approximately 3:30 PM and found my vehicle still parked in the same spot I left it when I dropped it off with no hitch on it. They hadnt even started the installation. At this point I was very frustrated but I was able to get ahold of a family member to come and pick me up and just bring me home till they called.After making it home at approximately 7:00PM that night and an hour before they close, they call and let me know the vehicle is ready. I live about 30 minutes away so I gotta quickly find someone to run me back to this location. I showed up to pick up the vehicle. The person behind the counter tells me my total and I pay and drive off. After pulling away it occurred to me that the total was more than I remember being quoted for the installation. So I double checked my receipt and saw that I had been overcharged by $82. They double charged on an installation charge. I returned right before closing and pointed it out to the person behind the counter. They tell me it happens sometimes, Im not the first, and gave me the refund for $82.So after picking up the vehicle at approximately 8:00 PM I returned home for the night. The next day my girlfriend drives it to work at noon. Upon leaving work that evening she walks into the parking lot and notices the drivers side tail light hanging by the wires from the back of the vehicle. This caused several scratches on the vehicle and a scuff on the light itself. Confused and mad about the condition she found her vehicle in, she contacted security at her work to see if she could find out what happened. There are surveillance cameras covering the entire parking lot. The next day the head of security informed her that the tail light was already hanging out when she pulled into work that day. The logical step from there was to contact U-hual and ask them if they had removed the tail light during the hitch installation the night before. So again I called, waited on hold, got transferred, waited on hold some more. When I talked to someone at the location, explained the situation, and gave them the vehicle information, they admitted that they remove the tail lights to tap into the wiring for the hitch...(continued in another post)

This is a new review. I heard that they hired a new staff. The new staff is friendly and helpful. I rented a storage unit for a few days and returned a one way truck. Both experiences were good. I will be open to renting and returning here due to the new staff. Below is my old review of the long gone staff.Oh how things have changed.This is my old review of the former staff.The return process was awful. They rushed us claiming it was about to be rented. It was one of the many cargo vans that sat unrented for days after the return.Again, I am recommending this place due to the new staff. ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Tldr; Excellent staff, very helpful, very kind. Full: I have had multiple services at this location including a truck/trailer rental and storage space. The tail-light fell of my trailer. It was obvious that my trailer had no damage, it was just the tail-lights time to go. Staff apologized for inconvenience to me, knowing that I couldve been pulled over, and took care of it - no charge. Then, I had a billing issue with my storage unit. Spoke with literally the nicest customer service agent Ive ever worked with. She called the site owner at home and they said theyd take care of it TODAY.If you need a moving truck or storage, go see these people. Seriously. Theyre the best.

Would not pro-rate 5 days of a month. Also, still charged my bank after I cancelled well before my contract end date. Corporate had no track of the fund request so I had to contact the site directly. Manager said he would have to issue a refund check. Unbelievably inconsiderate and poorly managed. Additionally, if you wish to make a reservation or otherwise contact the site directly, you first have to go through a headquartered telecom that has no real connection to the site. U-Haul is a mess. Go somewhere else.

We had a good experience with uhaul. Everyone we spoke with on the phone was courteous. Tiffany was very helpful. Our closing was delayed and I called to see about keeping our rental truck longer. It was already reserved for someone else, but Tiffany offered us 1 month of free storage. It was nice to have that support and help when we were scrambling to make new arrangements and were very stressed.

I do not recommend this u-haul location. I returned a trailer 1 hour and 15 minutes late and they charged me a full days late fee of $28. I would have had it back sooner but I waited on the phone for 20 minutes before I could get a hold of someone to tell them I would be an hour late. On top of all this they thought the rental was due back 3 hours sooner than my paperwork showed. Other u-haul locations had told me if I needed an extra hour just to call and let them know, which I did, and I wouldnt be charged.

I have used this location several times over the last year. I usually get a car hauler for day trips to snag cars. Every time the staff have been quick and efficient. Using the website for reservations makes things easy. Last time I was in the store, I got to see what these guys have to deal with on a daily basis. The customer actually asked if he could buy the boxes that were on sale in the store....dang.

One of the worst experiences of my adult life. These guys are beyond horrendous and if I could rate them negative I would. Where to even start... In September 2019 my wife and I rented a 20 foot Uhaul from them, a trailer and moving blankets to move from Kansas to Utah. The first night we packed up the truck and loaded it and used only half the blankets. The next day we came to get the trailer put on as well as return the unused blankets.Lets start with talking about the trailer. The Uhaul employees put the trailer on without saying a word to us and we were assured by the manager that it was put on correctly. About half way through our trip after we stopped the first night, we noted that chains were dragging on the ground and that the tire straps had fallen off our car. So much for being put on correctly.Next, about 10 hours into our journey, our driver side mirror completely fell off. We sat in Laramie WY for three hours waiting for roadside assistance to fix it. Al the man that helped to put the mirror back on was AMAZING and Uhaul doesnt deserve him. He fixed our mirror and redid much of installing the trailer because the Uhaul employees in Kansas did such a terrible job.Finally, lets talk about the moving blankets. We rented five dozen from UHaul and as mentioned above only used about half. Before we took off from Kansas we returned about half the blankets, which the manager said was just fine and had an employee take them out from the cab. We did not receive any kind of documentation that this had been done and we didnt think much of it. When we got to Utah and tried to return the blankets, they told us we only brought back half the blankets. We tried to explain that we had returned half the blankets before leaving Kansas - but to no avail.I then tried to call the store directly to talk to the manager who had allowed the return of blankets and who was negligent. It was about 45 minutes before they closed for the day and my call was continually pushed off to the call center rather than being picked up by the store. I then talked to the call center and told them to get ahold of the store manager right now. They messaged him via some messaging application they have and he assured them that he would call me right away. I have not heard from him, surprise surprise. My wife and I now have a 200$ bill from UHaul because of their own negligence. Do not go through UHaul, find a provider that cares - because UHaul is one of if not the worst in the business.

I would have recommended this facility due to its central location...however, all of the employees I encountered were very unprofessional. Two young men were speaking despairingly about co-workers while customers were present. Also, I did not get all of my equipment and when I called the customer-service number, I spoke to an extremely rude woman who seemed irritated that I was making her have to do actual work while on the job. I was very disappointed with her lack of respect and the lack of decorum displayed by the two young men working the check-in desk. Apparently one of these young men is dating a female co-worker and when she came to the check-in desk, the two spent a good five minutes flirting and being goofy while there was a line of people waiting. None of the three employees seemed the least-bit interested in actually helping customers. It felt very much like they were pretending to work. I will probably not use this company if and when we move again.

Terrible Experience - Never will use U-Haul again! I specifically explained my scenario and it was made very clear to the lady and how I was going to use the cargo van for the next 3 days. She was nice but did not tell me the correct information. The computers went down. The computer kept trying to charge me a different price based off my expected mileage so she ended up doing it off-line and it was still $75 more than what she originally quoted me because I was bringing the vehicle back after 12 pm which accounted for an additional day. The parking lot was in shambles because of construction and the manager kept coming in telling the employees that everyone except 1 person needs to go out in the parking lot to help when there was clearly a line of people waiting to be helped. Totally unprofessional. I walked down the block about 200 yards to Budget and saved $75 and got unlimited mileage for the weekend!!

In a word...INCREDIBLE!! Our middle school in Olathe began a 15 day challenge to collect 2,500 pairs of shoes for Kenyan children. Today is day 15, and we are over 10,000 pairs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Your UHAUL facility donated five (5) storage pods to put in our parking lot, and we could NOT have done this without you!!! Our students gained so much from this experience and you were part of it ALL!!!!We cant thank you enough!

Kudos to the crew at Olathe U-Haul. They made sure the equipment would be the least of my concerns. The hitch on my vehicle was a bit rusty and wouldnt receive the draw bar at first. The gentleman in the garage took time to clean up the hitch. For a moment it looked like it wasnt going to work at all but he persisted until we had success. Even with some complications on the final invoice they made sure I walked away very satisfied.

My friend rented a U-Haul from them on April 2nd. She planned on having it back on the 4th (Wednesday) but her apartment wasnt going to be ready for her so she called for an extension until that Friday (the 6th). We had such bad weather that Friday and through the weekend which made it unsafe to drive the U-Haul. My name was on the sheet as a driver and her mother was listed as an emergency contact but she was listed as the actual renter. They called me Saturday morning at 8 am and her mom, but not her. When I called them back, I told them they would need to call her as she was the primary contact and actual renter and verified that they had the correct number. The man said they did have the correct number and she was listed as primary but they said she wasnt reachable. Odd considering I was with her all morning. I later found out they never called her but instead called her mom (the emergency contact) and said she was listed as the emergency contact and had she heard from her daughter. Not a great way to start a Saturday thinking something happened to your kid during a storm. She called them and explained about the weather (which continued for the rest of the weekend). I received another call/voicemail from Doug, a manager, telling me to bring the U-Haul back. I once again called them back and talked to Doug who said that due to it not being returned and no record of my calling Saturday that they could call in to the police to mark it stolen-I once again explained that they needed to call my friend and verified her number which he said they had her as primary but still did not call her at all. My friend called corporate to explain that weather was a factor and worked out that she would extend it a week and to maintain contact with the rep if something changes. We again had weather issues but milder and were able to return it that Saturday.Also to note-they will put a hold on your account for any pending charges. This is will flip flop and make you freak out. Try not to. Also, my friend was paying cash and she was on promissory note with them to come in Tuesday (when we were paid) and had her card number yet they put a hold on my account for over $650! Is is most likely a company policy but odd since they had her card.Pros-when we dropped it off, their people were attentive and the check in process was somewhat quick. They explained the reason for the charges. ( also note that insurance is charged daily, not a one time fee as we learned during the explanation). I am giving it three stars for the nice people at check in and out.Cons-management needs to communicate more effectively. When I told them to call my friend, verifying she is the primary contact, they should have done so. They were able to call her at one point, why not every time? These issues are why I deducted 2 stars.I think once management realises that they came across rudely, I would recommend this to a friend but be aware of these issues. Be sure to note your driving miles yourself and take a picture of the speedometer when you rent it and bring it back that way you also have a record.

I made reservations at 3:30pm today, got over there and they didn’t have what I needed, looked up another location and sent us there, went there and hey didn’t have the reservation or what we needed From there the made the reservation again and sent us to another place, Now we have been all over Kansas and every thing else is closed. We are from out of town, 15 hours away. If my company was run the way the run the Uhaul business in Kansas we would go bankrupt, thanks Uhaul for all of your non service. You pay your employees to do exactly nothing.

We were going to rent a trailer and knew we were going to need a trailer hitch. They gave us a quote of around $200. However, when my wife showed up at her appointment they showed her an estimate of $325. Their excuse was that they needed to do wiring (not included in the phone quote), an actual ball for the hitch (not in the original quote).This is classic bait-and-swtich and if it is not illegal than it should be. I refuse to work with companies that employ these kinds of selling tactics. This is particularly disappointing because U-Haul is a recognized brand and I cant believe that all the work they do to try to create a brand would be undercut by one sleazy franchise.

The lady I spoke with on the phone wasn’t super helpful with the issue that U-Haul has black listed Ford Explorers. Shouldn’t couldn’t offer me a solution other than renting me other means of moving at four times the original rate of the trailer I wanted to rent. Called to schedule a trailer hitch receiver installation on Monday 8/19. CSR told me they could schedule an install for 4:30pm on 8/21 and took my information over the phone - said I would get call back to confirm installation time -- I never did. So I called around 2:30pm on 8/21 to confirm the installation time - this time a different CSR took my call and had no record of my installation. She took my information again and told me they could get me in at 5:00pm that evening (8/21). Around 4:40pm on 8/21 I received a call from the one of the actual installation techicians and he said they couldnt do it at 5pm and wanted to reschedule. He also said they do not take installation appointments after 4pm? Very frustrating that they cant hold their scheduled appointments and obligations.

Dont park all your U-Haul product in the Customer Parking Spots (Lined Parking Spots), There isnt a spot to park, parked with another couple off the side (NO LINED PARKING SPOT) only spot to park that is not in the WAY, Got Blocked In because of other customers dropping off the U-Haul Trucks and blocked us all in and didnt leave the Keys in the ignition to move, went to office to have some one move the vehicles and the employee was a lot disturbed that he had to move the U-Hauls to let Past/Current/ and not Future customers, Submitting Comments like this will help with their customer service skills and to learn from their mistakes and to prevent them in the future!!

Picked up rental truck, engine was making a lot of noise, checked the oil only to find it completely dry. Was on hold for over 30 minutes with roadside, no one answered the phone. Drive back to the location only to be told I needed to bring the truck back in despite it having no oil. Personnel on sure was extremely rude, refused to get me a different truck.So.... Drove the truck for 3 days with minimum oil. Will never rent from this location again.
