*In response to the Precision Movers review*I used to volunteer with this organization, so I have first hand knowledge of how it operates. Taking issue with SOME of the pricing may be valid, but you know what? Building homes is expensive, even more so now. Which means this organization is needed even more! You asked: So they say they are nonprofit and donate but has anyone actually researched what these companies do with the money? -Clearly you did not. This store benefits Thurston County EXCLUSIVELY. It all stays local! A development of 30+ affordable homes is being worked on in Lacey! The families that get these homes WORK IN THE STORES as volunteers! When you pose a question like that, its obvious what youre doing; youre trying to sew distrust and discredit in an organization that is doing great and real work on the local level. These people actually help our community. Your petty complaints do not. Grow up.
I find the coolest stuff at an incredible bargain here weekly. The staff is also amazing! Always available, friendly and knowledgeable.
Love shopping here. Usually find something I want. Great little place to donate furniture too as well. Love to support HFH whenever I can becasue they do amazing things for some deserving people in the community and who doesnt love that? I like all the Knobs and Planters and shelving I find at this location. Gotta have more projects! Lol 👍👍
They are really over priced. Most things they sell are about the same cost as buying something new. Their furniture is very expensive aka a run down table and chairs for 500 just not worth it. But sometimes I can find certain cabinet hinges that are reasonably priced. This use to be a good place to buy things when it was downtown Olympia but now its just a bust 98 percent of the time. The one in Yelm seems to be priced good on most things.
I have donated two habitat before and whenever I donate to a thrift store and give them free items I would normally expect that someone less fortunate be helped out with the items I donate... With that said I cannot understand why the items in the store cost more than they do at retail. I guess from now on if I want to donate and actually help someone out I will not go through any of these big-name places IE habitat for humanity and Goodwill. So they say they are nonprofit and donate but has anyone actually researched what these companies do with the money? I will not donate again I will simply post my items for free on Craigslist. Nothing worse than a bunch of greedy people pretending to help others how sad.
I used to find all sorts of useful things for me there. Lots of different types of household cleaners, various sized screws, etc. Today I found none of that stuff.
They can be a bit pricey on some of the things they have but they do have good deals and you never know what you come across definently a place worth checking out in the event you need to find some project supplies I would shop else where for furniture though as prices are steep
Love this place. Better quality stuff for less than the Goodwill next door.
For some reason this habitat humanity is extremely picky and prices items for sale more than new Ive tried to donate multiple times now odd thing is if I take it to the Yelm habitat for humanity theyre really happy for the donation I would suggest on skipping this habitat for humanity and going somewhere else its just a waste of time
I walk in with a general concept of what Im looking for and 9/10 times they have something that is perfect. The store is pretty clean and the staff is super helpful. If you need furniture or home supplies this place is a treasure chest.
I have found the random good deal here but most the time I find that its overpriced especially for what youre getting. Buthjj
We love this store! Its one of our first stops on any home improvement projects. All the proceeds help needy families with housing!
Great customer service price is a little high but for the most part it was an awesome experience
They recieve free items yet are price gouging customers. $150+ for a door is ridiculous.
Be flexible on your design choices they have alot, they aint amazon, they are eco-friendly as their materials are donated instead of thrown away. Years ago I found the exact replacement for my thermostat, it is possible to be picky so come often to increase the odds that the exact item will be in your hands instead of someone elses hands.
This store is super organized! The associates are really nice too! We enjoyed going there and seeing how clean it was. Thanks for the experience. Love habitat!!
I really dont like to write negative reviews but this is just a time that qualifies .I had been to this store several times and I finally found this item I had really wanted. so I took it to the counter not really caring to much about the price. The clerk tells me that the price tag disappeared and as a result it needed to go in the back to get repriced, even though the person that had just priced it told him it was priced yesterday at 35 dollars. Company policy has zero compromise because there could be a customer in the store holding the price tag-he could clearly see that there was not even one customer in the store. It just seems that comin sense and good judgement should be given to these people so they can do a better job of serving customers.
Won’t come here again or donate anything to this place again manager is incredibly rude and unfriendly
I’ll start by saying I restore vintage homes in Olympia. I shop at this store a lot for original hardware and fixtures as well as furniture. March 16th, 2020 I arrived early, the store opens at 10am, waited at the door with what turned out to be the other employee. A blonde sale associate with blue streaks in her hair, (she didn’t have a name tag and wouldn’t give her name) arrived at 9:59 boots untied looking like she just rolled out of bed. I don’t know who’s managing this store, but this is not the standard of behavior I expect from my employees. Assuming based on the time she was opening the store I proceeded to follow them in. Without a word she closed the door in my face and locked it. I waited till 10:01 for her to then open the door again. I said to her, “ I wish you wouldn’t have closed the door in my face and instead explained it would be just a moment”, she then said without an apology, “store opens at 10am, in a rude tone”. I said it’s just common courtesy, then she huffed and went back to what she was doing. I don’t mind waiting, I’m a patient person, but this person was so rude, it’s unacceptable. It’s my hope someone in charge reads this and talks to her about her lack of etiquette and completely unprofessional behavior.
I found a chair and table set that I loved and couldnt fit in my car, so the front counter staffsperson disassembled it for me and two more staffspeople helped me load it in my car! They absolutely went above and beyond
Not the coolest of the salvage stores by any means, but nice staff and I have found quite a number of things here including... an original Space Invaders arcade game for 50$ 👽😆. You never know what you will find that you didnt know you needed. Used stuff is better than new! Shop local 👍🤙! If you are looking for used furniture, this store has it unlike most salvage stores.
They had a couple good buys.
Always h.c avery interesting items
Went to habitat for humanity on Cooper point road in olympia, ask 2 sales staff and the asst. Mgr for a discounted price on buying 8 outside wood chairs and 4 bar stools, which have been donated to them and overpriced by mgmt nd they wouldnt even budge $1.00 on the price, last time I support this business and every body I know I will tell of my experience and have them boycott this establishment and also tell their friends....
Great stuff. Good prices.
I miss the old location...theres not as much variety....
While it is a nice, clean looking place, located in the strip mall near target, theres some stock, but not as much as Ive seen at other habitats, or HFHs, and I have visited more than a few. Seems to me that especially in Oly, there would be much more to the store stock available. Go figure....
Went in looking for a kids bed frame.Found one that was what we were looking for. The employees were very friendly and helpful getting the frame taken apart and loaded up in the truck.
Always find something unique that you couldnt find elsewhere...
Didnt have what we needed.. but still 5 stars.. cause duh
They severely over price their donated items. Its frustrating because the presence of the Habitat store next to the Good Will means the latter has zero furniture, and the poor people of olympia have to pay practically brand new prices for their needs. Ive seen leaf blowers priced at higher than what they are for sale for new there! It wasnt always this way, and they even price very damaged items like this.
Good selection of items for really good prices. Staff were very friendly and helped us load a heavy piece of furniture with ease.
Very good prices compared to other stores of theres I have visited
Love this store. So many good finds and the prives are great, plus its sustainable shopping. The inventory always changes but they constantly have a good selection of nice solid furniture.
Nothing like it was when they were down on the water front. Prices have gotten out of control. They dont have near the selection they use to have.
Great drop off for all the stuff Im decluttering my house from...
I like what comes in this store. You get variety of furniture and its cheap. I think my favorite I have ever purchased here is a school desk. It was like an old school desk with the seat and book holder underneath the seat. It was only $10 they had a lot of them there at that time. Makes it so much easier for my son to do his homework and feel like he is in a school environment.
Friendly, fun staff, lots of hidden treasures if youre interested in renovation or materials for art projects. Check often as stock changes (obviously). Dont be afraid to ask questions!!
Scored a very cool table..
I had no idea that this Restore carried the variety of home renovation items it does. Amazing! A wonderland for a DIY enthusiast. Prices and selection are great.
Fun place to check out for bargains. Unbelievable deals. And great staff.
Good selection of tools.
A bit over priced. Clean store.
Pricing is ridiculous these days. I love to be able to help the program but... half of retail for used and missing parts and pieces?? Takes all the fun out of helping people on fixed incomes with odd jobs that they wouldnt be able to do themselves.
One of my favorite habitat stores, large selection and a loyalty program with huge discounts!!! Best all around!!!
Ive managed to snag some great deals in here. Staff is always friendly, and I highly recommend sighing up for their rewards program. Ive gotten several $5 off rewards. Definitely worth it.
Stopped in after receiving a tip that they had a few left beds for sale. I was surprised at the stuff they had for sale, from a small selection of power tools, coils of roofing nails, vanitys, sinks, toilets, and even a selection of granite sections for counter tops. Definitely a great place to check out if you are planning on any home improvement projects. Almost everything is second hand but quite a bit is in reasonable condition.
Always find good deals.
Nice some good values.
Prices not great but usually there are some deals. More furniture than materials but some unused items as well. Helpful staff
Awesome selection, great prices, and friendly staff. This is a nice, clean, well organized location with a large amount of floor space. They have appliances, hardware, a surprising number of doors and windows, and more furniture than I expected. Check them out regularly, you wont be sorry.
This is a fun store with a WIDE assortment of used and new goods. I went looking for some inexpensive paint, and left with two cases of baby wipes and a 25 lb. bag of high quality dry dog food at amazing prices. A plethora of surprises, you never know what youll find. If you like treasue hunts, youll like this store. A great place to find mid century hardware for cupboards and drawers. ENJOY!!
Mostly used furniture.
Outstanding in every regard. I’ve found top quality (fancy) items there, at reasonable prices, most of which I’ve installed at my Mom’s house. She’s thrilled every time. The staff is always helpful and it’s one of my favorite places in West Olympia. For those who must complain:Some of what is found here is genuine finery needing only some cleaning.I purchased a one year old top of the line LG dishwasher - stainless inside and out - for $200. It’s so quiet I thought it was broken at first, and my Wife thinks I’m a genius for finding it.I’m now in the process of updating all of our sinks and toilets to Koehler. This store has supplied me with nearly new items for this project at prices which are so low I feel like I’m stealing from them.
Great selection.
I loved the store in its downtown location, but since moving up to the Westside theyve started focusing on (generally pretty crummy) used furniture, rather than building materials and supplies. The light fixture selection used to be great; now its pathetic. There are better places in town to hunt up used furniture; its the building materials that should be the draw, here.I really like having a place that will take used building materials, rather than see it go to a landfill. Its a great niche -- I wish theyd go back to filling it!
Noticed that they have a line of new house paint that is supposed to be more evironmentally than other paints. The colors were good. Ill have try it. The prices were lower than at any other local stores. I found that the little pruning saw I bought there is not useable until I set the teeth. Now to find a saw tooth setter tool.
I was out getting some sun and window shopping and stopped in. They had beautiful rugs and so many other things, workers were great and willing to help find or look for anything if I needed. I have gotten things from here over the years and so have people I know. They have a points rewards if you shop there a lot.
Love the concept reusing left over donated building materials, its like a hardware thrift store..Nice staff and manager..Ive found some amazing deals and some ok priced stuff. I like to go there for random items, and who knows what youll find. Just dont have expectations that what your looking for will be there. They dont carry regularly stocked items.. The fun is all in the hunt.
This place is awesome. They could drop their prices a tad and move stuff faster but it is for a great cause. They always have good stuff.
Fantastic. I stopped to checkout the desk lamps, and left with a chair perfect for the space I had planned on getting around to filling next.
This place has a wide variety of construction materials at decent discounts
Love this store, fun to go on a little treasure hunt!
I was so frustrated. I went through a divorce and lost all my furniture. They could not help me with delivery or hold furniture long enough for me to find help. Renting a truck would be simple, but I cant move a sofa by myself, even if I werent disabled that would be impossible. I wont go back because its too much trouble. You would think they would cater to people like me, I mean I was in a pathetic time in my life. But no, they have stuff ableist rules.
Clean well-organized store. Typically wide ranging prices, which you find at most thrift shops - some things are a great deal; others, not so much. I like what they do, and we shop there regularly for home improvement projects.
This place is worth a look if you need cheap furniture or washer and dryers.
Way over priced for what they offer. Maybe smaller stuff but the cabinets, sinks, appliances and furniture we shocking. They must think the public is stupid.
Good place to buy used building materials, but seem big into furniture the past year or two
They have lots of useful things, I buy a lot of stuff to use around the house
The best Habitat For Humanity store Ive ever been to!! I love finding treasures here
I especially like this Habitat for Humanity store it is huge inside they have everything split up and organized into sections very well they have weekly sales that they post outside on a large board so you know what to look for once youre inside shopping they have a lot of workers walking around so if you have a question its easy to find help and my favorite part is they make funny descriptions up on some of the signs that make treasure hunting even more fun
They dont have the greatest help there.
I spent $842 and change at this store buying furniture for my new apartment. One item, a queen bed, was sold to me with a hairline crack in the metal frame. The crack was on the underside of the frame and was hardly visible, but it was a critical flaw. If I hadnt caught it, the bed probably would have collapsed. I contacted the manager and told them that I was willing to repair the bed and keep it, but that I thought that, given the beds compromised state and the time and money I was going to have to invest to fix it, the price I had payed ($180) was unreasonable. They refused to even give me some store credit to compensate me and just kept repeating that all items were sold as is. I explained that I understood their policy, but that this particular item shouldve never made it to the sales floor in the first place and that I essentially payed for a bed that shouldve been in the city dump. They wouldnt waver. An email to another manager received no response. Needless to say, Ill never spend another penny here. Neither should you.
This store is a win/win/win. The prices are great; its fun to browse; and its all for a good cause.
Theres always something interesting here just be willing to dig through a lot of junk
Great place to find discounted items for those home improvement projects youve been putting off because you thought it may not be affordable. Also not a bad idea to check here when looking for furniture and dont want to break your wallet
Used to go here most every day. The assistant manager whose name begins with a letter past M in the alphabet should be the real manager. The real manager is rarely there. He works from home, meaning the above mentioned assistant manager does all the work. Guess who gets the performance bonuses? You know it, Mr. Lazy, Greedy, the manager. Retail prices on donated items which are used, scratched, somewhat in disrepair, incomplete, dirty and sometimes even thoroughly useless. Think that they are green and saving things from being discarded? 10 large garbage bags of clean, usable house insulation were pulled from their dumpster by me after I was alerted by an employee who quit soon after. Thats the least of the waste that I saw there. The present manager has no business running a store based on a degree of reclamation. Hed be much more at home at a Dollar Store or a Big Lots where everything is tidy, packaged, marked and set up for sale by dullards. No imagination on the part of the manager has driven this so-called salvage store into becoming a place where only white light fixtures are sold, only white bathroom fixtures are sold, piles of granite pieces sit piled up on the floor with no simple way to view their colors, no appliances are tested for functionality, beautiful vintage items are sold for scrap because they are made of brass, workers are routinely publicly berated by the manager, no idea from employees is deemed worthy unless the manager can convince himself that it was his to begin with.I could go on and on. No, I was never an employee, just a loyal customer until I saw the root of the greed and lack of compassion exercised by the manager. And this coming from someone who claims to be a Christian.Time to find a new manager, lower prices and serve the community instead of your bulging gut. When I have news that this present manager is fired, I will return, until then, I will spread the word that this is not a decent place to spend ones money.
Good place for recycled materials. Always check here before going to the hardware store.
Its good this stuff doesnt end up in a landfill somewhere but come on ! The prices are ridiculous and have driven me away from buying here on most occasions. Once in a while I will find something interesting but for the most part its overpriced junk. Yes, I realize its a non profit but its hard to buy old and used at nearly the same price as new...Please rethink your pricing strategy because I DO want to support you.
Its a fun place to visit, there is always something new and different always leave with something LOL
Not a big selection.
Even with a 50% off sale, the prices here are rediculously expensive. If your goal is to support their cause then go for it. If you are looking for furnature appliances, building materials etc.,.try craigslist or offerup for better variety and much much better deals.
Unbelievably over priced. We were not greeted or received any customer service. We always try to support Habitat for Humanity in any town we visit or love but will not be going back to this location.
It was ok.
This place is better than the tacoma location. Bright, easy to see & navigate,we did 2 bathrooms with tile & bought kitchen granite here at 50% off. Tile for bathrooms was bought a yr ago.
Yes their prices are too high, but once in a while, I can find a deal there. As far as customer service goes, they are starting to get a lot better. People are all different, and they get a lot of volunteer labor in there from time to time.
Donated 2 sawhorses I bought at harbor freight for $38. Saw them on the floor priced at $20 each. I think its pretty easy to price used hardware fairly. Use the internet to research prices for new items then halve that price. The items at this store are heavily used and donated for free. Theres no reason to gauge customers for a good cause.
Check here first before going to a more commercial hardware or furniture store. Usually waaaay cheaper, and it goes to charity.
They were very helpful they went way out of their way to find what I was looking for and it was any very reasonable price and they help you load it
Great crew, half priced our pleather couch.
Always find something I need. Great service, good cause.
Used to be far better for pricing and selection. I gave up on donating anything since they can very picky what they take in. Some things are as much as new.I laugh when I see weapons free zone. Im sure thats so a prospective rapist, mugger, and thief, feel much better that no one is able to defend themselves should they do what they do.
Who ever prices their items need to be fired! Especially n the furniture, I went out furniture shopping one day and thought I would check out habitat, A ratty old wobbly couch was over $500, I went over to a near buy furniture store and found a brand new couch that was bigger and NEW for $500. This is not a one time thing. All the furniture in there is outrageously priced. Ive been in Habitat a few times since they moved from downtown and am just disgusted at the price of things. I used to buy stuff there all the time but now its cheaper to go to Home Depot or factory outlet for windows. The windows are crazy expensive. The selection of goods has decreased and the prices have gone up. I bet the move to a strip mall was not such a good move. I can only imagine how expensive rent is.
You never know what youll find
Way over priced. In many instances building materials such as windows and many tools are priced higher than new. This is not the habitat business model, yes you can do that and see how high you can go but in the long run people will no longer buy there or donate. It seems Goodwill next door is buzzing because they are adhering to their business model and habitat has very few customers now and very little in terms of goods.
A wonderful variety of used furnature, hardware and tools at good prices. Never know what you might find.
I love this place. Great deals on almost everything you need for a home.
This place is full of so many useful things, and offers great prices. I am always surprised by the wide range of tools they have.
