Celeste at Better Hearing spent 45 minutes trying to get another companys hearing aids working again for my father. She even got on the phone to help verify warranty and next steps to get them fixed. What truly great service this was! No doubt this is where Ill buy if Dad needs another pair or when I do!

I have profound hearing loss and had been using a local medical center audiology department for years. Even though I had top of the line Phonak hearing aids, I struggled. I shied away from talking to people. I avoided using the telephone. I dreaded going to crowded type environments. I didnt enjoy music. Traveling in a car and trying to decipher a conversation was extremely difficult. I felt embarrassed having people repeat themselves all the time.I made an appointment at the Better Hearing Center in Onalaska just to get a second opinion or different perspective to help me hear better. I AM SO GLAD I DID! The staff was friendly, I was taken to a consultation room where I watched a very informative video on hearing loss. I then had a consultation with Sean who listened very intently to my concerns and told me that we could tackle all of the situations through newer technology.Sean explained to me that my understanding of speech degraded over time because the brain actually forgets certain sounds when they are not heard. Sean introduced me to some hearing rehabilitation exercises to help me hear better, like reading aloud to myself and several word games that I can play on my smartphone.My new hearing aids are Starkey Livio, and they are amazing compared to my last pair. I can stream phone calls and music directly to my hearing aids. I actually look forward to talking on the phone now and am enjoying music. The hearing aids work in conjunction with my Smartphone which is a real neat feature. I can adjust the volume on each hearing aid individually or together. I can filter out crowd, wind, and machinery noises.I know that I will never hear as well as a normal person, but I am so pleased with what the Better Hearing Center was able to do.The bottom line is that the Better Hearing Center took the time to listen to me and educate me. In my opinion, I was treated better and with more care than at the medical center audiology department.
