I went to visionworks for contacts and a new pair of glasses. Unfortunately, the lenses popped out of the glasses within a month and the staff did a poor job explaining what I was playing for. I paid for the initial eye exam and contact prescription and was told they would order trials for me. No one ever ordered trials for me. And because of their messed up automated call system I had to go in store to even know what was going on. The staff was pretty cold throughout this process as well. Not going back.
I was upfront with every one, I was there to get a perscriprion, with PD, so I could order glasses online. I told the tech, I told the Dr., I was told that I could get my prescription, with PD, up front after the exam, The doctor was nice and professional and did a good exam. Up front I go, only to be told I couldnt get the PD unless I buy glasses there. The old hen in charge up there wouldnt recognize customer service if it bite her in the butt. So, I got no prescription, they didnt get paid. Beware folks, the old bait and switch.
This was the nicest eye exam experience ever. Everyone was so nice and they were very fast about everything. The lovely woman at the desk made great frame recommendations and picked the perfect pair! The eye doctor was thorough and personable and said I looked young! Bonus haha! I highly recommend this location.
Horrible all around experience. Had to confirm three times, all on separate days, that empire vision had my prescription from my home optometrist and everything was all set for my appointment. I even had to contact corporate to leave a message because they failed to answer the phone for a whole day. I get to the store and still have to wait 30 mins for my SCHEDULED appointment. Picked out my glasses and waited... all for them to say they can’t help me because my prescription is expired by a month. THREE times I called to confirm my prescription is there and I am set for my appointment. This was all after my trip there last Saturday when my glasses broke and I decided to try empire out. Because my prescription wasn’t there they could only sell me the exact frames for $250 and could not offer me the Buy one get one that drove me in there in the first place. SHOULD BE A ONE STAR STORE, ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE.
I had the best experience, the entire staff was friendly and helpful, I was in and out in no time at all, the Eye Doctor, T. Devlin was totally awesome. Im so happy with the service, very professional and caring. Liked them so much, will be referring family members and friends.
Brookes Smith is incredibly nice, very helpful, and very informative. My issue was the doctor, who is passive aggressive for the majority of the entire time you’re with her. I’m sure she does a great job at what she does. But her communication skills are not that great. She’ll talk to you in a way that insults your intelligence. So be aware of how she talks to you.
I didn’t buy any glasses here, but these wonderful people deserve five stars nonetheless. My three friends and I, students, who were new to the town and had never even walked into the store, were walking by when a really bad storm hit. We huddled under the overpass near the store, trying to find sheltered from the rain, but the wind blew the rain all over us. These kind, wonderful people opened their doors to us, (cold, wet, and shivering strangers) and let us come in. They didn’t ask anything of us, but gave us chairs to sit on and shelter from a storm. If you are ever in the area, I would highly recommend these people. They are the kind of people we need more of in this world.
MY 7/21/20 VISIT WAS PROMP AND THE STAFF WAS PLEASANT. IM RETIRED AND ON A FIXED INCOME SO I NEEDED JUST AN EXAM AND PRESCRIPTION FOR GLASSES I COULD GET ON LINE AT A DISCOUNT. THE DR WAS GREAT BUT I FORGOT TO ASK IF IN 3 YEARS IF MY VISION HAD CHANGED. WISH SHE HAD MENTIONED IT.ALSO AS I PAID, THE WOMAN COULDNT OR WOULDNT GIVE ME MY PUPIL HEIGHT FROM MY OLD PROGRESSIVE LENSES EVEN AFTER I ASKED HER TWICE,AND CITED SOME POOR EXCUSE..OTHERWISE IT WAS AN OK VISIT.THE GIRL THAT DID MY TESTS WAS EXCELLENT!
This place is abominable. I did not even see the doctor on my second visit. She made a mistake on the lenses prescription the first time, and I was told I had to return for retesting as they couldn’t use the prescription from my old glasses from another doctor. So, I showed up for the appointment at 9:30 and the doctor hadn’t even arrived yet. Eventually they just used the prescription from my old lenses. This doctor is completely incompetent and unprofessional. She spent 20 minutes on the first evaluation, did it wrong and didn’t even show up for my next appointment. I live an hour away. I hate this place. This time my attendant was great but in the past I’ve had horrible service, aggressively rude people. I only use this place because of my insurance. I’ve never had to pay so much for glasses, either. The WORST!!!
What a terrible experience! On September 30th, After waiting 2 weeks for an appointment, receiving a confirmation phone call the day before and driving an hour to the Oneonta location I was told my sons insurance would not cover his appointment until October 4th.... When I questioned why I was not told about this prior to my son missing school, me taking time off of work and driving an hour I was told they only check the insurance a few days before, and they had no idea why I was not told. When I asked to speak to the manager a woman named Kathryn came over to talk to me. Her fix for the mess up was to tell me Well you can pay $69.00 for an exam and come back another time to get glasses Why would I pay when he is covered by insurance??? When asked why I was not informed about the mix up Kathryn said Well the computer shows we called you yesterday When I explained I spoke to one of her staff the prior day and it was a confirmation call she said, Well I dont know what to tell you No apology, no problem solving, no accommodation made due to their error. Totally unprofessional & rude. My family has been a customer of Vision Works for 9 years for 2 children. I have always gone to the Kingston office and had no issues, this was my first & last trip to Oneonta, may never return to a Vision Works location ever again after this! No choice but to give 1 star to post this when they deserve ZERO stars
Was easy to get an appointment .. the staff were so funny and helpful .. my son was nervous about his first eye exam and they made him feel comfortable while at the same time adjusting my other sons glasses .. Wendy was just a gem .. so sweet to my boys .. the eye doctor was very thorough and calmed my sons fears . Definitely recommend to anyone looking for an eye doc.
I had a terrible experience at Visionworks. I arrived promptly at 10am for my appointment and was told that my insurance would not cover the exam or contacts. I was advised to call the insurance company so I stepped outside to call the insurance company and had everything squared away. I walked back in and let them know I spoke with an insurance representative and wanted to have the exam anyway. The lady at the desk told me that I could no longer have my appointment because there is a “10 minute rule” and can only have so many appointments per hour due to COVID. I was there AT 10 and did not take more than 10 minutes outside to talk to insurance. As I talked to her, she was scrolling on the computer and rudely says “This is private information. Do not look at this screen”. I was not purposely looking for any information and could not read the screen from where I was standing. I was simply watching her as we had a conversation. Not only did she have a unpleasant tone of voice when speaking with me, I explained to her that it had taken me 40 minutes to get to the appointment and I did not have extra time from work to take off because I am pregnant. Her response was a short “I appreciate what you are saying but we have rules here”. Rules? I followed all of the rules. When I explained that my annual exam was due in April but could not have it done due to COVID, she simply replied “sorry”. When I told her that my insurance provider was offering a discount on exams and contacts due to COVID, she said “I’ve never heard of that, I’ve done this a long time and have never had that happen”. As if I was lying? Very unprofessional.Turning a patient away that needs a prescription to order contacts is unacceptable. I’ve never experienced worse customer support and do not plan on going back to Visionworks.
Took my son to have eyes examined and new glasses. Everyone was very friendly and exam was great. I would definitely recommend to others.
I had a great exam. But I’m trying to reach the oneonta store and I keep getting sent to a call center, Why?
Always amazed at how fast and courteous this store is! My son broke his frames and we were in and out in 10 minutes with new ones covered under warranty!! Thank you
Reading the past reviews I was apprehensive, but the second I walked in the door the staff was friendly and helpful. From the front desk to the doctor I would give them 5 stars.I would recommend this facility to my friends and family. There was very little wait time and a large selection for Medicaid/Medicare glasses.
Negative reviews are a normal part of doing business, and most of them are bogus. Just consider the average mindset of people: its on the grouchy side of the spectrum. Thats understandable because our world is getting crazier by the day, and it stresses us out. Whether its the imminent collapse of the environment, school shootings, attacks on the Second Amendment, disastrous immigration policy, or something else completely, we are all walking and driving around under enormous global pressure. So when a person has even the slightest hassle in any transaction, they are more likely to complain about it in an exaggerated way. I hope this business ignores the sad sack Eeyores and the grouchy Oscars and retains its optimistic attitude. People are fundamentally good. Keep the faith.
Wendy was awesome. She was able to adjust my glasses where another fell short. Now I can see much better.
Honestly, I have no idea why there are so many bad reviews. I was able to make an appointment for the next day online (lucky me) and arrived on time and was quickly sent to get my eyes examined. The front desk and the doctor were both professional and nice. Only complaint I have is that the selection for frames is a little poor (not as much variety as I would like), but honestly everything else was perfect! My prescription was not in stock so they did have to order it online for me. The man stated that it would arrive (June 10) and it has arrived on June 12. I dont mind the wait though, might just be that Im a more patient/lenient person. Conclusion, great place and people!
I dont know where some of these other reviews are coming from, but from my experience they must have been rude customers. The staff was very friendly and attentive. I had no issues or complaints.
Waited on the phone for over 40 minutes to speak to someone about making an appointment. Theres no prompt to leave a call back # - so I feel like my business is not that important to them like their recording kept telling me it was. Ill go else where.
I scheduled an appointment for 9:30 for myself and 9:45 for my husband we arrived at 9:15 so we were on time. Someone else arrived for a 10:30 appointment and said they were in town early could they get in before their scheduled time. I live 30 minutes from this store so I too was in town early and only for this appointment. Needless to say the staff put the other gentleman before 2 scheduled appointments with both patients sitting there waiting. This was so unprofessional and I doubt we will continue being seen here. I did not get into my 9:30 appointment until 10:03 and only after my husband said something about it being so far past our scheduled times.
My son left his glasses in Atlanta for a week long baseball tournament - the staff at visionworks was so helpful in getting him a new pair made quickly. They really saved us - and on a holiday weekend too!
This is an awful business! I will never come here again! If youre looking for an eye doctor go somewhere else, because you will receive absolute trash service here.
Really approachable and very patient. Willing to listen and adapt for the consumer.
With script in hand, specs ordered on 8/27/18. Dog ate my homework amongst many excuses. Today,(10/8) they did not call us to say they were there.....we called!! LAME. 6 WEEKS AND WE NEED TO CALL?? Go to Sterling in Crossgates if u can travel to avoid the aggravation
Worst service ever. SWasted 1 1/2 hours. Did eye exam and then was told my insurance doesnt cover any of it. Tried to get me to pay for exam. I called my insurance and they confirmed I do in fact have coverage. Ended up going elsewhere.
It has taken over 6 weeks for them to order my sons glasses. When I called to ask questions the woman was very rude and told me that she had to go between 2 systems to get the information. I said well Im patient and can wait. She did nothing to find out what the hold up was. From the very moment we walked through the door all the staff was very rude to us. My son who is near blind has been without glasses during this whole period. This will be the last time we ever go here.
I will never go here again. I had bad migraines I was told to go here to get my eyes checked. They checked my eyes and told me I was fine!! No Im not fine. A ct scan was done of my eyes and found optic nerve drusen. Where this place didnt even care to tell me. When you look in someones eyes you would be able to see it. Im legally blind and have no perreffreal vision at all. Im legally blind through the commissioner of ny certified. I now go to Albany to see a real doctor every 2 months. Its horrible that you guys have such horrible eye doctors on your staff. I would never ever ever have anyone go there.
Courteous, effective, effecient, therfore a loyal customer i will be! Thanks to all the good employees.
This is the most inconvenient and rude vision center i have ever encountered. First off, I went there last year for an eye exam the old skinny lady with the glasses was extremely rude to me for no reason. It seems like they dont like to do their jobs. Then over the summer i ordered a three month supply online because i have the same prescription in both eyes it took a week and they were supposed be there overnight to my house. Then i decide to come back to the Oneonta Visionworks to order another prescription this month and they told me it would take a week. 2 weeks later Im being told I may have to wait another week. Meanwhile im stuck with one lens that im switching between eyes. I have to drive back and forth to work. This is crazy I want a refund!!!!!
Friendly people but dont plan on getting much else done that day. 3.5 hours and I wasnt able to take anything home with me that day.
Horrible! Went there as a family. They called last minute to cancel one of our appointments because we have to wait 1 year to see them. And when we went there for other family members, although we had appointment we had to wait an hour to see the doctor. They are very unprofessional, no apologies, no courtesy, nothing.
Website said closed at 8. Store closed at 7. Super inconvenient. Poor selection of frames as well. Very disappointing.
They close at 7 but online it says 8. The people who make the glasses leaves at 6 and needs an hour and a half to make them? Why say youre open until 7? Customer service is awful.
Amazing environment and great selection!!
McDonalds version of eye care..never again!!
