Whispering Lakes could be so much better if they put a relatively small bit of money into the course. Raise the prices if need be. Id pay it. Ill say this, the greens are in great shape. Theyre very healthy and are rolling like you were playing at Riviera. Not far behind it. I was hopeful because of the first two fairways. There was real grass! Unfortunately after that they were reduced to the typically very bumpy and non grass dry spots. I did notice they had quite a few gopher traps out. Thats a change from the past. Cmon guys, you could get all the fertilizer you want from across the street. They have a habit of watering non essential areas too and not rotating the cycle where it floods one spot. One hole at a time. A little maintenance goes a long way.

I hate to give it a 5 then other people will start going. Price is FANTASTIC FOR SENIORS. I have met a lot of nice people.Greens are good, fairways are not so fair. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Love going there, walking and exercising.

2.5 ⭐for the course 5⭐ for the customer service . It has a lot of potential to be a awesome course they just need to put the money into and really change the fairways and rough. Too many holes on the fairways and need to have the tee boxes more nicely put. Great scenery. Too many flies following you around on the golf carts which is very annoying. I just really want them to say f*** it and drop the money to really put that course on the map even if they have to up the price to golf. TOO MUCH POTENTIAL for the owners to not care.

It should be called Whispering Flies! You need seat belts in your cart because of the fairways being full of bumps and gopher holes! I gave it 2 stars because the greens are great. Would not play there again even if it were free! Maybe if they moved the cows away.

A very nice 18 hole golf course with a full service clubhouse. Putting green and driving range too. They serve beer-Stella Artois.

Grass range, you can walk or take a cart. Greens are fast and staff is friendly. Come out and play 18 holes!

I love the forgiving fairways and the long par 4s. I took a couple of newbies out and saw their game improve. Some cool water holes. However the ride is a bit bumpy throughout. Gopher central in times past. Also has a good driving range and a decent putting green for warming up before ya play.

Not maintained well. Poorly managed. Held a company tournament there and will never do that again. Driving range and or snack shop will be closed unexpectedly with no warning or explanaition. If u wonder where all the flies are coming from, there is a huge cowshit farm across the street. Thousands of flies.

Youre going to need a chiropractor if you drive a cart. their fairways are so bumpy . Lots of bare and land and dirt patches on the fareway as well

I love this place. For a public course. Challenging layout off the tee. Small greens but normally rolling at 9 or better. Around 6700 really good par 3 .

I live in between this course and another, I’m a little closer to this one and I’m a new golfer. I read that this range has a membership where you can pay a monthly fee to come and practice package and what not. When I got here I parked by a dilapidated building that would be perfect for range balls to get handed out .... but its currently kinda scary, then went over to the pro shop where I had an extremely unpleasant older female “Karen” cashier with a chip on her shoulder and found that “they are to busy” for the program, which I found odd as it was 10am and it looked like no one had tended to the range...so I’m assuming they aren’t “too busy” more like the owners don’t care, which is sad as I was actually looking forward to coming back as I’m only a few miles away. Sadly this is my second time, first and last. 3/2/21 10am.

Whispering Lakes has always had great greens. The fairways today were green and with grass. Play was really enjoyable. Rough was in need of trimming and bunkers were playable. All in all had an enjoyable round.

We were new going to this golf course. So one afternoon my son and I showed up and as I walked up to the building to buy the balls, the older gentleman (Malcolm?) at the window told us they were closed! Since we were new, we wanted to find out their hours of operation. I politely waited for a while seeing the gentleman was busy putting stuff away behind the window. A few minutes later, I politely tapped at the window and asked him politely what time they close. He said 6:30 so at that point I instinctively looked down at my cell phone and even at that point it wasnt 6:30 yet. I said to the gentleman it was not time yet and he said he goes by the clock in the office. Then he began to lecture me and the attitude was poor and the tone of voice was disrespectful. All he had to say was we close at 6:30 but if you come too close to closing time, were not going to take care of you, it would have been okay with me but what was really unacceptable was his rudeness and insisting on saying something that simply was not true. I am not in the habit of complaining but I thought I bring it to the attention of the supervisor. I tried to describe the gentleman but didnt have to go far before they knew exactly who it was so obviously this person has a habit of being rude to people! How come this person had not been talked to before and continued to be rude to customers? If he had already been warned by management and he refused to change his attitude, why were they still having him work at the front desk knowing he is not good with customer service?

The field is not in great shape, personally, its a bit expensive. Staff not as friendly.

Place is super casual and the driving range is great for just hitting a few rounds. A bucket is about $10 and 3 buckets is more than enough for 4 people

The greens are in tip top shape actually better than quite a few higher end courses . The fairways arent on par with the greens theres gopher holes and chunky uneven ground just off the fairway rough. If you can contend with that, its a good track at a very fair green fee with an accommodating staff .

I played here twice in a month and my view hasnt changed, neither time was very pleasant. As noted in other reviews the fairways are rough and seldom do you get a good lie to make a good strike on the ball. The smells you get as you walk around the course are unpleasant also, you either get the waste treatment smell from the nearby plant, or dirty water smell from the lakes on the course or the fowl odor from what the geese and coots leave all over the course and it is all over the course. I did like the greens and bunkers, you can tell they had a good original design, but this isnt enough for me to play there again.

Flat and predictable, but a great spot to practice. If you can shoot well here on a windy day, you can play anywhere. Wish they would bring back the carts Im getting tired of walking 18 haha.

Great municipal course to practice and learn golf. If youre a beginner, learn the golf etiquette first before you play. And use it when u play. And yell loudly FORE when your ball goes outside the hole being played. You are responsible for any injuries you caused. Lots of beginners at this course. If your not a high handicapper, have a lot of patience when you play this course. If pace of play is your pet peeve, this is not a course for you. I love this course because its for all golfers who respects other golfers of every playing ability, a municipal course.

Made a tee time on Wednesday for 5:50 today. We were told wed walk so no carts. We showed up on time and were told they were closed and he wasnt going to reopen. Called me a liar and when we told him we played at this time last week with our credit card receipt to prove it, he insisted that didnt happen. Someone showed up behind us and he, too, was told to be there by 5:50. This place must be making enough money they can be rude to customers and turn them away. We wont be back.

Golf course the bomb

We made a tee time for 5:50pm (just like last week) and we were not allowed to play today. The guy in the golf cart pulled up and said that we were liers and said, There was no way we made that time, and drove away to pull up the flags. What is the point of a twilight tee time if you cant golf. We will not be back.

Greens were in great shape. $22 for 18 during Twilight hours including cart. Was great value. Long par 3s. Wide open and flat. Fairways are in rough shape, but playable. Good people, clean amenities.

This place needs a little work, has lots of potential to be great but falls a little short, I like that its a nice course local on the IE but it needs some TLC, I went there once to hit a bucket and no one was at the counter, apparently they have one guy grabbing ball buckets and driving the ball tracker. Great for hot deals and last minute rounds of golf.

Based on the price, its a good overall value. WIDE and I mean wide fairways, if your working on correcting a hook or slice... you wont lose many balls here. Pretty long and flat, green condition varies throughout the year but overall decent. Ive played here for many years since they called it Ontario National back in the 80s. Its like an old friend, always there and familiar. Give it a shot, they also have a driving range.

Was only at driving range. It is mostly dirt and crab grass. There are no mats. The prices are good. They do have yardage markers.

Great big course at an inexpensive price

I went there today in the morning (Monday, July 21, 2016) about 9 am with my son(6). We tried play 9 holes. But we cant, because the cashier (man) gave the price $58 for me and six year old son. I knew the price of other golf course for Junior ride cart with adult, Mountain meadow charged me $5 and paradise knoll charged me $10 for six old boy to be with me. Therefore, I explained that other golf course charged us cheaper price and asked the cashier to give me favor. Then he told me without hesitating any moment that go other course. I saw his sneering face. I felt very embarrassing from his response. I went to whispering lake golf course several times to play in within two month because it is close to my home and the quality of course is good. But How could I come back and play whispering lake again. I was so disappointment with the customer service and I could not forget cashiers face and his words.

Went to the driving range here. The cashier was not friendly and grumpy. I dont think I would come back here again. The driving range grass is not kept well and the smell of manure is strong. Overall not the best experience and had better and relaxing experience.

Good course for the price point.Biggest negative....there are geese EVERYWHERE! 2 times they got in the way of my ball on the fairway.Besides that, fairways are rough but definitely playable.Greens are in good shape. Amazing golf course with cool lake

Affordable and decently maintained course. Some spots can get a little beat up, but overall always enjoy a day at this course. Driving range prices are fair and the pro shop were always friendly and knowledgeable.

I miss the geese and ducks..where did they go? There should be an area set up for them like at red hill community park.

Inexpensive. Course is not well maintained. T boxes are in sad shape. Fairways are rough. Greens are okay but like all public courses badly abused with unrepaired ball marks.

Flat course greens ok and good price point

With beautiful mountains in the background and lots of palm trees shouldve been a remarkable place to play. But with very choppy and beat up Fairways lots of construction its a ridiculously difficult place to play. Add to that 40 to 50 mile an hour gust and its almost unplayable ... I want come back here ever again

Went just for the driving range as I get out of work after last tee time. Distant markers were ok and the grass was good too but as far as the practice balls, they were old and filthy. The old golf balls are bad.

Run down golf course. So much potential wasted. Beautiful mountain views but place looks unkept and trash everywhere. Come on Whispering Lakes... You have a whole town waiting for you to get your act together.

Certainly not the best. But its local, decently cheap and did I mention its local? I bring my non golfing friends here to introduce them to it. No sticker shock and they get the gist of it.

The fairways were as rough as the rough! The new remodel of the clubhouse has a lot to be desired. The greens had just been aerated and there was no mention of it when I booked the tee time. Just very disappointed overall

Went to practice a little with my husband had a blast. Very nice place.

The grass in almost all places clumpy very hard to hit off of ! Also I grade the driving range 1 thru 10, i grade it at 2 1/2 its bad . Now that was just the driving range, of course the course is excellant . Lots of birdie holes, also a course that makes you use all your golfing ability. I give this course 1 thru 10. I give it a solid 7.
