The restaurant had wonderful atmosphere and presentation. The staff were very helpful and kind. Went there with my GF and her family and we had a great time. All the food was fantastic! From the traditional meals, to the sushi, to the desserts, everything has a good price point considering the high quality. The staff even helped me propose to my GF, now fiance. They really deserve more attention.

Yesterday I was here for the first time and I thought it was great, I started my visit with a house cocktail, Caribean surfer I really liked it, it has a very tropical flavor, as an aperitif I tried the coconut shrimp and it was excellent, for the main dish I ordered 4 rolls and niguiri smoked salmon everything was just right my favorite rolls mangotango and sambaroll, the tempura cheesecake dessert was good a rare flavor for my palate but good. Great Sushi. Tuna belly was exceptional. Cocktails and the Japanese beer was good. Quality and the size of the portions were goo too. Crispy salmon skin, soft shell crabs, Tokyo rolls and yellow tail cheecks all doshes we ordered were great but the tuna belly was 10/10. Must try.

Nice shrimp tempura. Also had a shrimp entree that flavored very nicely, went well with the fried rice. Attentive service.

They have done a remodel in the last few years since we have been here and I can say it looks much more authentic and has a great atmosphere. Our 5mo was with us and he arrived asleep and slept the whole time! Not loud at all and our server Nick even whispered to us as to not wake him! Excellent service from him that we will never forget.

Love the ambience. I sat at the bar this time and didnt eat. Had their whisky specialty cocktails which was delicious.Tuesday-it was really quiet which was great for me (covid conscious) but considering it was super slow, I couldnt help notice how slow the restaurant service was 👎🏾Think my bar tender was doubling as a chef 🙃bless him

Great sushi restaurant, with prompt service. The sushi menu offers a large selection. The rolls are well made with quality ingredients. I wasnt impressed with the soup, have had better. They have a full bar and tableside service. The prices are quite high for what you get.

Went out on Father’s day, around 1:30. Always gone here for the hibachi, to our disappointment they had let us know that the hibachi was closed. Only one server waiting all tables. Took about ten minutes to bring waters and once they were brought never offered anything else to drink. Took another 20 minutes to return to take our orders. Soup was cold, within the group was an order of steak - which was never asked how we preferred it cooked. Chicken tasted over cooked / old. Noodles and rice tasted as if it was cooked where seafood was last made, a fishy taste to it. We ordered the hibachi meal without the hibachi & the portion was very very small compared to the regular hibachi. fried rice had uncooked onions. Coconut shrimp was also an absolute miss, old and drenched in grease.Overall service was extremely slow, considering there was only two other tables being waited. Food was terrible, had to the worst meal considering the price. Unfortunately, would not return after this experience.

I went with a large group recently. Staff was all very friendly. The restaurant felt safe and clean. The all of the food was delicious! Will definitely be going back!

I would give it five stars but the pop music was so loud we couldnt even hear each other talk. The food portions were average but fresh and yummy. Server friendly and nice to talk to you. Even though we were in the lunch rush he paid attention to us.

Completely inconsistent across the board. Yet for some reason I would keep giving them a chance. I always do take out and Ensure to tip well over 20 % each time. Tonight my meal was clearly old, and from another order possibly because I asked for main protein only; no mix, no sides. And there’s chunks of sides and mix all throughout my stale; soggy main.

After reading all of the reviews I was excited to try what I thought was the Dr. Phillips location of the fantastic Amura sushi resturant in downtown. I found not have been more wrong. The waitress quickly corrected me saying that they sold that location and it was not apart of the Amura chain. I am glad because the sushi here is terrible. Commercial quality sushi that is over sauced and over priced. It really is too bad because the decor is nice and the resturant is very spacious. When we arrived the resturant was empty. I mean empty. Then they didnt even recognize that we let them know via open table it was a birthday we were there for. The icing on the cake was the sales pitch at the end of the meal about their email club that we could use to collect rebates towards future meals. I need a rebate from the over one hundred dollars I spent on a party of two. I will never return again.

Decent food. Had a ramen bowl, 2 sushi rolls and Malaysian curry (i think thats what it was called) and everything was really good. Ramen bowl was ok, nothing special 5 out of 10. The curry was 10 out of 10. Will return for more of it!

First time here, hibachi chef was nice but clearly didnt know what he was doing. He stayed he worked as a bartender and sushi roller. Maybe they should let him stay with what hes familiar with.

First time visiting this place, it was recommended by a friend. Reserved for Hibachi and the cook I guess tried his best but didnt seem to know what he was doing. The rice was burning, had to be reminded to season what we ordered ex. Forgetting the teriyaki on the Salmon. Steak and chicken was over cooked. Maybe he was just learning idk but shouldnt be done on customers time.

We came to celebrate my sisters birthday and we were not disappointed. The restaurant is decorated very nicely and I recommend the Ramuné drink.

Always a treat to eat at this excellent Japanese restaurant. In my opinion they have the best sushi in Dr. Phillips area. Service is friendly and efficient. Great hot green tea, nice miso soup and salad with ginger dressing. The bento boxes are put together quite well, although substitutions are not allowed. Volcano roll is my favorite.

Even though this is Akasaka now, the food is fantastic and so was the staff. We didn’t have a reservation on a Saturday night and they were still able to seat and serve us quickly.

I ordered TONKATSU ramen. But actually it was TONKOTSU ramen. It was not authentic Japanese ramen and good but not great.

It’s my first time here and I got the boat with the most sushi. It was very good! A lot of variety of rolls and some sashimi. Atmosphere and service is very good! Definitely coming here again.

Its a good thing they changed the name because it is nothing like Amuras!! We arrived thinking it was Amura from Google.... They need to update Google!The service was not good. Served our sushi at the sushi bar with no napkins, plates, soy sauce.... Asked for napkins brought them but no plates! We used napkins as plates!! The place seemed dirty and the plates that were ready to be served sat by us at the bar for at least 5-10 minutes... Cant be good. The fish in the glass case had the door open the entire time not keeping the fish cold.We ordered the tuna tower knowing it was good at Amura but had no flavor not even spicy! $17 of disappoinment. We have been eating at Amura since they opened almost 20 years so were were disappointed and wont be back. The outside sign still says Amura and should be removed!

I was invited to go to Amuras with a friend. First time and I was very impressed the food and the service was AWESOME! I was only used to Urban Hibachi but now I have found my GOLD MINE. THIS IS THE BEST SUSHI BAR EVER. I WILL LOOK NOT FURTHER.

I’ve frequented Amura many times. The food has always been solid. This past week, we made reservations (a day before) for a party of 8 to celebrate my girlfriend’s birthday. Dinner would be at 7:30pm - Friday night. Upon arriving, we were greeted and seated immediately. We sat for quite some time (not a big deal despite it not appearing to be very busy). About 10 minutes after being seated, our first encounter with our waitress included news that they only had ONE CHEF working... on a Friday night.... We were baffled. The chef had just started cooking for one table and there was another large party that was seated before we were as well. We were told that it would be a while until we were served. Confused, we asked if there was another chef coming in to get a grasp on what was going on. The waitress said she THOUGHT so but would check with her manager. She came back 5 minutes later and let us know that another chef would indeed be coming. SWEET. We ordered drinks and started looking at the menus. A few of us went directly to the bar to get some drinks there. Another 10 minutes goes by, we don’t have drinks, AND the waitress comes back to inform us that the chef would actually NOT be coming in. Needless to say, we left and enjoyed a wonderful dinner at a KOBE that was only 1 mile away. I’m realistic. Stuff happens. But absolutely NOTHING was done to try and remedy the situation. It was simply “you will have to wait a long time.” Poor customer service is not acceptable, ESPECIALLY when the surrounding area is filled with other phenomenal fine-dining restaurants. My advice? Save your money and dine elsewhere.

Our waiter was Marco and he was very kind and patient with us! He answered any and all questions we had about the menu with ease. He helped us choose what we wanted to eat and the food came out delicious! Service was amazing

Best dining experience I’ve ever had. David our server was PHENOMENAL. He went out of his way to make our experience spectacular. He also recommended our new favorite sushi roll of all time, the Rolls Royce. He made our order exactly right even when we forgot to specify. We will be making this our new regular restaurant and will be requesting David of course. 5 stars!

Since we got there the service was kinda bad, we did the hibachi (where they cook in front of you) food was great but the cook didn’t serve as much. We ordered the seafood sensation. I also ordered a beer, whichthe cook dropped stir fry chicken on my beer and didn’t even replace.. we also had to call the server many times because he wasn’t paying attention to the table.

We went for lunch. We were seated immediately. The food came relatively quickly. I ordered sushi, and my wife had a surprisingly large bento box, and the waiter was very attentive. And the food was very good!

Excellent sushi, wonderful waitress and prompt service. The staff was very accommodating with our large group (8 adults 3 kids). We had a wonderful waitress who helped us with all our allergies, and gave us crayons for the kids. Sushi came out quickly, and presentation was lovely. Very fresh sushi. Definitely worth the visit.

I liked the bamboo art on the sushi plates. It had some cool lighting. They had good sushi, but not good presentation. The spicy garlic chicken was great. Great service and smiling people.

I finally had cooked sushi for the first time and it was actually pretty good. We got there between lunch and dinner and we were allowed to eat; however was rushed out (bummer). It might be beneficial to remain open or to just open a little bit later.

We had a party of 15 for my birthday. Great service! Our cook Damian was great! Very friendly,funny and kept the 6 children that we had entertained!

What can I say service was slow like the restaurant the food a disappointment calamari over cooked, dumplings over cooked volcano roll lack luster miss the punch its known for even the wasabi didnt pack a punch it a shame this Dr Philip staple has lost its mojo.
