Had a reservation for pick up at 10:45 am to pick up a trailer. Had to wait in line for almost an hour due to only one person working inside the store ( with my handicapped father ). We had arrived early to make sure to make our time. Let me tell the lady working the counter has the worst customer service ever! Come to find out she is the owner. Asked her about the on time rental or you receive a $50 rental credit. She then proceeded to make up that she has 15 min to make it happen. It did not state that anywhere when I made the reservation. I then stated that it had been 20 min. Then she had me scan my license again even though I had already done that online. She then treated to not rent to me. I held my tongue because my father needed some things moved that day. I then called the 800 number and spoke with someone from the corporate office, they also made up the 15 min deal again, this was due to the notes the owner had put in the computer which was a lie. Because it was over the 15 min time limit that they pulled out of there a**. They told me that someone would call me within three days to speak to me about the problems I experienced during my visit. That never happened either. So all together worst store and customer service all around. Hope someone from corporate sees this and knows that this store is the worst representation of U-haul and to this day the worst customer service all around. They definitely don’t believe in being on time or remember that the customers pay their wages.

This location always has the size and type of uhaul I need! Tyler is fantastic! Gets me in and out quick, is knowledgeable, and has a great attitude! Another employee even hooked up the trailer while I was checking out so I was ready to go as Iwalked out of the store!

Answer the question asked nothing more nothing less. If so no one would repeat themselves for fact that irrelevant information is being asked as well as given to who didnt ask for such. Nor is there a need for the employee to let it be known if one is heard if the information asked for is given without any extra that wasnt asked for!

I was staying nearby at an AirBnB and woke to find my car had a dead battery. After waiting for AAA for 90 minutes, it was now 7am and I walked over and asked if someone was available to help me jump start my car. Without hesitation, Anthony was working the desk and he grabbed jumper cables and headed over and got my car started! It was so nice to find such a helpful person in the early morning hours in a foreign city where I didn’t know what else I’d do aside from waiting for AAA. Thank you Anthony!

No reservation needed. Best prices around. They are always as helpful as can be. Staff is respectful, knowledgeable and professional. Have used this specific location for years and will gladly continue using them. Thank you U-Haul @ Metcalf. My only complaint would be that I do not like having to leave my car parked on the street when renting a truck.

We came to return the keys by 6.55 PM, where as the store closes by 7 PM, but the person who was in charge behaved rudley . He shut the door on face and he was not ready say where to drop the keys.. one more person in charge came and said go out go out in a disrespectful manner .He almost came as if he is going to hit us .. atleast they need to have basic courtesy .. you can not scare your customers and we are paying for the service it is for free service you are offering us to be soooo rude and talking in a harmful manner.. hope the general manager takes action about this.. we took rental on Sep 21 2021 and tried to return the keys around evening ..

The wait in line to get our van was incredibly long. We were in a line of about 7 people that took 40 minutes to get to the front of. The man working at the front, which was the only one inside btw, was not trying to work any faster with the increased volume. Once we got the van it all worked pretty well, but the van had a front light that was out.

The men that work there are completely disrespectful, inappropriate and immature. They were acting as if they’ve never been around a women before and gave off the most creepiest vibe, besides the sly comments being made. If you’re a women I highly recommend choosing a different location or if you HAVE to go, take a man with you. Never will I come here again.

Recently rented a trailer here. Lights did not work. Guys there got under my truck and fixed my wiring at no cost. Most people would probably have said you cant use the trailer until you fix your lights. Good people!

Worst experience ever, my guaranteed reservation isnt ready, customer service replaces my reservation with a bigger truck with no keys and then refuse to help further after taking my money and now after wasting 3 hours am not able to move and have to take my business elsewhere because of this. I urge everyone to go anywhere else and stay far away from this company.

First time customer, called made a reservation and paid. No one told me I had to sign a contract. Showed up to location looked around for an office or sign for directions and since there was nothing I hooked up the trailer to my truck. Suddenly a man appears being rude asking if I had a contract acting like I was stealing the trailer. I’m a small petite woman I don’t ever rent uhauls and after being treated like a criminal I decided to write this review. I drive over to office that’s across the street and behind a Mc Donald’s (out of site) and it takes 30 mins for basically nothing, a contract. After leaving I was approached by the owner (same man as before) saying he needed to take pics, again very unfriendly. I won’t be back.

Steve was fantastic. He got me set with the truck and when I came back for the auto transport, he made sure i was loaded securely. He though it was funny when I said that even after bungee jumping, driving the car up onto the trailer was the most terrifying experience Ive ever had. (it is, it takes complete trust in the person guiding you). Will definitely use this location if I move again.

Slow. Opened late. Did mobile check in for fast pick up Of a truck we rented 3 weeks ago but it didn’t give us a vehicle number so we have to stand in line while 1 person tends to 10 people. Tried to talk to someone outside and they said “I can’t help without the vehicle number”. Eventually a gentleman came inside from the lot and helped get the line moving. He was nice at the checkout.

I went 50 miles in a 10 miles per gallon 15 for box truck ... THERE PAPERWORK SHOWED THWY HAD A FULL TANK, and and charged me WAYYYY MORE THAN MY 5 gallons used . They understand and still didnt care. . They dont care about you and will keep taking your money until they are happy. Would not recommend without taking pictures of your gas, double checking everything recording the customer service .. i want my money refunded ... thanks for making me nearly homeless taking my money

Wow, what a nightmare... We had a reservation to pick up a truck. As per usual, we went inside and got in line to get the keys. We ended up standing in that line for easily 30 minutes even though there were only 3 other customers in the store. The line wasnt moving at all. Everything seemed disorganized and felt like business had screeched to a hault. Since the line wasnt moving, and we were in a hurry, we decided to use U-Hauls online check-in. The app prompted us to go find our truck. We then went outside to locate the truck where we were approached by an employee who told us he doesnt have the authority to approve online check-in. He told us we would need to go inside and stand in line. We went back inside, and frustratingly approached the counter to get approval. The guy at the counter told us to push the button that says I found my truck and to go out and find our truck. What a headache. We get to the truck and there are no keys. Easily the worst U-Haul experience ever. They dont value their customers time, and generally dont seem to care about customer experience at all. DO NOT waste your time at this location. Try another one, even if you have to drive further away for pickup.

Worst experience I have ever had with U-Haul was at this location. I was supposed to be able to pick up the truck contactless. Their app would not work so I had to go into the store. Rude customer service, delayed us by 30 minutes getting to the house to meet the movers. The truck was in horrible shape it wouldnt shift right the door didnt close all the way on the driver side and it required two grown men to get the back end of it open and closed. Absolutely will not use this location ever again. Do not recommend this location. U-Haul as a whole has always been great for us, but not this location and certainly not the young lady that was working Wednesday morning May 27th.

They expect evening check ins but then physically block the gate with a van so that nobody can bring the trucks in after hours. That would be fine if they provided any other instructions - nope. Utterly ridiculous that you could fail so bad at the customer experience. We will never use this location again, and will look for non uhaul options first, next time.

I wasted 4 days this week trying to have a hitch installed. Their call center is NOT in sync with the store. 3 times I called to confirm the parts were in stock before I drove over there and was told yes by the call center. Left my car the first time only to get a call an hour later they didnt have all the parts. This last time I stood in line for 20 minutes only to be told they dont have the parts in stock. For the first 10 minutes they had only one customer service lane open and then they opened a 2nd lane. This has to be one of the most poorly managed businesses. I cant believe theyre still open. I see a great business opportunity for someone who knows the rental business in the area of 77th & Metcalf because this place is the worst!

I walked in and was second in line. I waited maybe 3-5 minutes while the person in front of me finished up their transaction. When it was my turn, I told the lady that I wanted to rent a van. She told me to step to the next computer. So I did. She then proceeded to help the customers behind me. I waited 25 minutes while she helped the people behind me in line. She didnt take to time to explain costs or investigate further of what I wanted/needed. After I was finally helped and the prices explained I ended up walking out because I did not want to spend $100 for a truck that I would have for at most and hour and a half. Home Depot did the job for $20.

The communication at all levels could use improvement. From the Customer Service rep that signed me up on the phone to the retail worker in the store.The CSR that signed me up on the phone seemed to be in a big hurry. He actually put the reservation through for the wrong day and time. Not sure how that happened since I didnt ask for it? Thankfully it did get resolved and was able to rent a van.The retail rep was fair, but she was not clear to me on how the credit card was going to be used. I asked if they would run the card when I returned the rental. She said yes. They actually ran the card twice, once for the estimate and once for the actual costs on the return of the rental. Good business practice should use full disclosure.The van did work for my purposes, but a rental is more than just getting a vehicle. There are many parts to a good rental experience from sign up thru the return of the rental.Heads up: I would suggest keeping all your paper work, contracts, online correspondences until you are truly complete with your use of the rental and move. Check to see if estimate and/or actual cost match with the your credit card statement.

If I could give zero stars, I would. The only shining light in my experience was John, who took care of me while I was dealing with their horribly unorganized system.Oh, and I still have an open case with them because I was charged 3x what I should have been charged because of THEIR error.I picked the truck up with it being 8 miles till empty. Strike 1. I brought back the truck with 12 miles till empty because I knew I wasnt going to get reimbursed for putting my money in that truck. John said hed take care of me, and I thought he would. He gave me the thumbs up and let me know I wouldnt be charged for it since it wasnt my fault to begin with. I think he had good intentions, but the system or management had other ideas.I notice on my credit card statement later that week that Im charged a hefty fuel charge. Strike 2.Oh, but guess what? I was also charged for over double the mileage! Im told by customer support that I was supposed to upload a picture of the odometer on the mobile app. Yeah... Im 29 years old and run a digital design and development company - I operate mobile apps in my sleep. There was never a screen for me to take a picture of the odometer.Regardless, even if I made the mistake, they should be able to look up the mileage and see that I went 50 miles, not 120! Strike 3.Id be more than willing to take this review down if Im returned the money Im owed. U-haul basically charged me for the persons mileage before me, OR, I fear that they are being dishonest and charging double on that mileage.Honestly, its not about the money to me. In the grand scheme of things, its not that much, but its the principle of the whole thing.I run a business... if my customer says that they were overcharged and gives me a pretty stinking good reason as to why... AND I know that my own systems are often a little screwy and unorganized, Im probably going to assume its my fault and return the money to the customer. Like holy moly, this is not rocket science. Im reading through other reviews on here and clearly U-hauls systems are not great.Im not asking for a refund. I am happy to pay for the amount of time and mileage I used. I initially had questions, so I called U-Haul at Metcalf (7740 Metcalf Ave Overland Park, KS 66204) to book my reservation directly. The person that I spoke to was extremely rude and not helpful at all (Im not cheap, nor I dont expect to be waited on hand and foot), I just had some questions because it was my first time renting a moving truck. Due to the harshness of the employee, I booked my reservation online to avoid dealing with them (maybe thats the strategy?) My total pick up time lasted an hour, keep in mind, this was the 24/7 online reservation system that was supposed to streamline the process. Staff was short with me and less than helpful. Upon receiving the keys to my rental truck, I found damages on the truck that were not documented, the cab of the truck had not been cleaned (not much trash, but general dirt and filth), and a gas tank that was reported as over 3/4 full, but was only half full. Also, I chose not to rent the hand truck and moving blankets, however, they are still in the truck with with a tamper evident tie, so they cant even be moved without being charged a usage fee.

There is only one person helping customers and she is taking alot of time to help people. I rented a Uhaul from this location on the September 30th and returned on October 1st and they were suppose to send me refund back to my card like i asked and they sent it in check form instead to the address that i moved from which is why i needed the uhaul and told them that. It has been 29 days now and still no refund back on card. Have called customer service and asked for manager to call me from location and still nothing after 29 days. This was the worst experience and will never go back to this location. Stay away from this location they are horrible!

Picking up the truck was a pretty good experience. It went relatively fast, but it seemed I beat the crowd. There was a long line after me. The rental process (online and in person) was very easy and user friendly. The return process was a little frustrating, as once again it seemed like they were understaffed. I was already checked out from the guy outside, yet I had to wait over 45 minutes in the store to talk to someone to tell them I was good to go. I did call Customer Service a few days later to inquire about something, and they were very helpful.

The staff at the U-Haul was very professional and the service was good. However, the equipment was junk. Didnt discover that the roof of the 10 foot van that I rented had a hole in it until the rain started. Several of my items got wet. Additionally, the sun visor on the drivers side would fall down blocking the drivers view every time you hit a small bump in the road. When I returned the vehicle I told them about the problems and they took 3 miles off my bill. Each mile is 79 cents. Thanks a bunch.

Had a terrible experience with Kyle, the manager. He just walked away when I asked him why my reservation was cancelled for being an hour late. He did not call me before canceling my 8-hour long reservation. So, when I arrived there, he did not even try to explain why nor did he try to help me find an alternative. A real manager would have apologized and offered something else that’s available or called another location to see if they could be of any help. Very unprofessional for a manager to have an attitude toward upset customers. Will never do business with someone as rude as Kyle.

Do NOT use their services! We paid over 2,000 dollars for a truck with NO oil in it. Oh check the manual under the seat or under the hood for oil type they said BUT ITS NOT THERE! Called their “Roadside Customer Service” on hold for 20min with no answer the phone was disconnected! We were only on the road for an hour before the check oil light came on. I guess these people are so incompetent they can’t even do simple maintence on the trucks before lending them out.

If we have to rent again I would drive to MO to get a truck before I give that location any of my money. I’m nice person and I still was angry. This was one of the worst experiences Ive had with customer service. You cannot rely on customer service to schedule correctly or communicate with the store. Messages are not returned by the store so there is really no way to make sure you get in contact is to drive there. They didnt order the part I needed and I wasted a trip. They didnt schedule me correctly with a specialist. And lastly they werent able to do the actual work once everything was in place. That was two wasted trips. Much wasted time, money, and slot of frustration.

You never know what you’re going to get. After renting at this place off and on for a year or two and have an amazing experience a time before to the point where I left a personal note and a gift for the excellent service. This time was a completely different store. The counter lady was kind and friendly the guy outside hooking up the trailer was a hard worker and assertive. What then is my gripe, the man behind the counter of whom I am assuming is a very small owner(as multiple people wear the badge) was Kurt rude and although he made me laugh, I do not think he meant to. Thinking up on it He reminded me of a guy from my past that always wanted to get into a argument. In short someone who flies off the handle is not fit for management customer service or any of my pratonage. What a comical disappointment.

I had a reservation for 8am to pick up a cargo trailer, its 8:49 as I type this. I have been waiting in line nearly an hour and there are about 8 people ahead of me (conservative estimate). Both myself and the lady behind me have done Express Check In to cut our wait time in half but that doesnt help the wait time at all. There are only 2 people working at the registers and its taking about 10-15 minutes per person to get their truck or trailer. I will not be back to this location, the workers here seem to be slow and inefficient. The person in front of me is complaining to someone on the phone that the line is barely moving. Moving is unpleasant, uhaul shouldnt make the moving experience even worse. I have been reading the recent reviews over the last couple of months, silly me for not doing my homework and shame on uhaul for not making things better from all the recent one star reviews

I went to Uhaul recently and asked to rent a 26ft truck. I was told that they had one there but they wouldnt rent the truck to me even though the truck wasnt reserved. They told me they would rent me a pickup though if I wanted to use that to move. When I asked them if there were any other 26ft trucks nearby that I could rent they told me I would just have to call around and ask. I asked if they could look it up and they informed me that they did not have help me with finding another truck.

This place is understaffed, but considering that they work well to handle to customer quickly. I picked up a truck around 5 the Friday before a Monday holiday. That was a mistake - the line was long and there was not enough help. The service was professional. I called to have me reservation time changed and after verifying there would be a truck available they set it up for me. I would highly recommend renting from here before or well after peak hours. This location is on a main road and the lights are spaced out enough that it becomes difficult to even turn right out of the lot. Again, if you go during rush hour, youre going to have a wait. Plan ahead.

A nice Uhaul center with friendly staff. Make sure you come down to 78th for the office. You might be fooled into thinking the van parking lot (a little North on Metcalf) is the parking lot. Theyre pretty understanding is that happens. You can also get your propane filled here. Definitely look into propane if you do a lot of grilling.

Used this location as a drop off for an auto transport trailer. Very minimal parking on the street for after hours drop-off prevented me from dropping the trailer off and would only accommodate 3 or 4 small trucks. So if the street is full, youre out of luck. Was able to drop off the trailer the next morning and that process couldnt have gone better. Employee directed me to drop off location and told me he would have a confirmation receipt emailed to me. Had the email minutes later. Overall a good experience.

We have an 8 hour drive ahead of us and we’re told to go wait out in the parking lot, where someone was someone was supposed to tell us which trailer to back up to. 30 minutes later, after we seek someone out, we are told it’s actually in the other parking lot. In total, we have now wasted an entire hour of our day, still have to pack and drive 8 hours.

RUN!Im writing this review from the lobby of Croft Trailer & Supply, while I wait for them to FIX what U-haul screwed up.Before I get into it, I want to point something out...When you call U-haul, youll hear a message that says something to the effect of: This call is being recorded so that we can KEEP OUR PROMISES TO YOU...Remember this.Lets begin... I had a hitch installed and what was supposed to be 7-way wiring run through our Highlander. I confirmed repeatedly with the sales lady that I needed a 7-way because I was going to have a brake controller installed later. She verbally confirmed she understood what I meant on the phone, quoted a price and scheduled an appointment.Total, this cost around $350.After leaving and attempting to hook-up our trailer, it was discovered that they only ran a 4-way and not a 7-way. As a total layman, I missed this.I called U-haul back probably 10 times to have this corrected. I was connected with customer service on 2 occasions. Both times, I was assured someone from the local office would return my call. The first one was a dud, but I did get a call back on the 2nd promise... at 7 AM in the morning!Needless to say, I missed the call. When I finally did reach someone at the local office, they told me that the original ticket was for a 4-way, and that they could not fix the problem unless I was willing to pay another $40, plus labor.I explained that the sales lady fully understood my order, and that I was quoted the $350 for 7-way wiring. I didnt feel like I should have to pay one penny extra for work that was completed IN ERROR by U-haul, and at no fault of my own. The person in the local office apologized and said there was nothing she could do. Naturally, I asked to escalate this to someone who could do something.She told me that she would leave a note for the General Manager to call me back to discuss the issue.This was over 2 weeks ago, and Ive not heard a peep.I attempted to call U-haul back around 7 times since then to follow up, but I have not had the time to wait on hold for a customer service person to answer just to leave a note for someone in the local office to call me back, which they may or may not do anyways.What a freakin crapshoot.So, here we are. The lobby of Croft Trailer & Supply, shelling out another $300 for them to FIX U-hauls error.If anyone from U-haul ever reads this and cares enough to keep the promises you make to your customers, you can pull the recording of the original call with the sales lady and listen to the quote she gave me.Dont give these folks your money, if they mess up the work, youre screwed.

Be very careful if you use after hours drop-off. They tried to scam us out of $50 for fuel and fill up. We returned the truck with the quarter tank of gas we were supposed to, but since we dropped it off after hours they tried to get away with charging us.

These chuckleheads dont know their @$$ from a hole in the ground. Ive seen so many different faces on the weekends its almost like a revolving door. Management has no idea on how to run a business! Maybe corporate office needs to take a closer look at the manager...

Rude staff, horrible service, was over charged, and after hours drop off involved finding and open space in the curb amoung other uhaul trucks and trailers on a narrow residential street! While dropping off the trailer, other customers were asking what to do and were just as frustrated! Use a differnt location if at all possible!! Or a different company!!!

Worst experience ever. After taking over an hour to figure out what ball should be used, and figure out which trailer we needed (they had us back up to one then made us move to another) the obviously inexperienced, possibly in training kid who attempted to hook up the trailer lost control of it and ran it into our bumper. Two of us saw it happen with our own eyes. It ended up scratching it in a zig zag pattern as he attempted to regain control.As there was no one there over the age of say 20, no manager on duty and we were running late now after the long wait, they decided to take pictures and process the claim while we were out of town. The front desk girl said that if we get the travel insurance it would be covered, so we purchased that and left town.While on our trip, they didnt hook it up properly so we had to keep checking it throughout the trip across the country, slowing us down even more. We ended up going to a U-Haul store at our destination who fixed the botched hookup.When we got back, I got two estimates (both saying I need to completely replace my bumper), took pictures, etc. and after following up we found out no one there is admitting that any damage occurred and they denied our claim. It is outrageous that they are blatantly lying about the incident. I also found out that the upsaled insurance doesnt cover damage to the vehicle as they told me it would.There is also no appeal process that we can do as it is now their word against ours. U-Haul also insures themselves on liability claims so if they damage property and it isnt absolutely clear that the damage is caused by a trailer (meaning the trailer would have had to go straight into the bumper causing a half moon shape), they will deny the claim. It doesnt seem right to me that a company is allowed to insure themselves b/c why would they ever take the blame if they dont have to?I dont know what ever happened to customer service or that the customer is always right but this location obviously doesnt care about either of those things. I didnt even go into the attitudes of the kids working there either-it was incredible-I guess i shouldnt be surprised that they would lie about the whole incident.To sum it up, I have never been so disappointed and upset with a business in my life. I have seen people picket businesses and wondered where anyone would get the time to do such a thing and now I understand. I would love to warn anyone who wants to rent a trailer about the shady practices of this branch.Avoid this location if at all possible.
