Great customer service and they have a lot to offer. Great selection of name brand dog toys too and a reasonable price. They always have the hard to find hardware or fasteners.

I was looking for a plug for one of my chemical dispenser.didnt know the thread or if this store carrys them.and there he was Mr. Ralph offer to help with my hunt.he was very knowledgeable on what we where hunting for .we found it. Out of all the hardware stores in the area this one is my favorite. The young people are always willing to point out where something is. And every hardware store theres a grumpy old man that needs to be fired. I used to run a true value Store. I have met one of the partners Jim. They have a good selection their prices are fair. Their hours are good. Plenty of parking. One suggestion though covid-19 is over with lose the mask mandate the CDC has. Weve all had our shots and if somebody has got the shot and they get sick thats their problem for not getting the shot. Free.

The increase in inventory is great. There is a good selection for everything I need. I love the increased variety in flowers. I have always had good customer service at this store.

I’ve been to this Ace Hardware a few times, including once during the Pandemic. The staff have always been quick to help when needed and very courteous while doing so. Of course it’s smaller than one of those big warehouse type stores, but they’ve always had what I needed when I needed it. Great store and I will be sure to visit more in the future.

I just want to share my experience with Ace Hardware in Palatine. I purchased a lawn mower from another a store less than 6 months ago. It stopped working I called Ace in Palatine and asked them if I could bring it in there the manager was very nice and said yes. I brought the lawnmower in and they told me it could take up to a couple weeks. They were very kind and very good they fix the lawn mower at no charge to me even though that particular store did not sell it to me. Very thankful very good store I give them 5 stars and I wish I knew the managers name because I really would like to say a very special thanks to him. I also was informed after I got the lawn mower back at most stores would have charged for the service as that particular service would not have been covered under a warranty. But they did cover it and fixed it at no charge thank you so very much

Big Tony was incredibly helpful. I’m building a treehouse for my son. “Big T” had a lot of helpful ideas for the pit of despair and the lotion in a basket lowering system. I will be back for all my future projects and treehouse needs.

Usually always find what Im looking for. Staff generally helpful. Today, long wait at checkout. Several employees just standing around. One appeared to be a manager playing with his cell phone.

Id love to support a local business, but Ive received really awful service in three visits here. I also called to ask a question over the phone and was abruptly cut off and hung up on.

Avoid this location at all costs. The store manager has a vendetta out for her customers. We purchased a new electric mower, which was defective out of the box, and she refused to accept an exchange. We didn’t even want to return it for cash, just a simple exchange for a working item. They sold us a defective unit and refused to take accountability, regardless of the fact that the official ACE return policy states that defective products are accepted for return within 30 days. Will be contacting corporate as this is completely unacceptable

Very nice staff. Many shelves were bare. I needed two basic items, and they were out.Went in today, great kid helped me with making keys. He was awesome. However, I was scolded by a cashier for not entering the que properly.

Most helpful team EVER! I recently ordered a spin bike that was delivered but due to covid, technician assembly is not an option. Fine, thats ok, Im relatively handy. The bike arrived quickly and after an hour of unboxing it, I was ready to get to work. Three hours later, I couldnt even complete STEP ONE (threading large bolts to attach to the base of the bike).My best friend said go to Ace so the next morning I took the base bars and bolts to this Ace. I was expecting them to either prove that I have grossly overestimated my handiness or at the very least sanity check me that the bolts were the wrong size.I walked back to the HUB (Hel[pful Hub?) and there were two young guys who were willing to help me troubleshoot the problem. It was somewhat comforting that they couldnt perform the simple task either. Then a third gentleman walked up and joined the discussion. (I was so frazzled I didnt bother to remember any of their names, but they know who they are!) They took one of the base bars and disappeared. A short time later they brought the base bar back AND a solution that would allow me to proceed with this nightmarish assembly.Long story short, the 3rd gentleman took the time to stand there and tap all 12 bolt holes in both bases of this studio bike. He then tested each bolt to make sure they all threaded properly and whats more is, he made me feel so much better than I did when he reassured me it was NOTHING I could have fixed at home on my own, unless I had the same device (which I do not). He did all of it at no charge. Yes, thats right FOR FREE! I cannot think of one place, especially in Illinois - where you can go with a problem and someone actually performs the solution/fix FREE OF CHARGE.NordicTrack should also personally thank ACE. Ace spared them from a very unpleasant Customer Service call.Customer Service is on the verge of extinction. If you are lucky enough to experience it, I highly suggest you share it with everyone - like I am doing now!Oh and I read some reviews where they said I was not greeted or Nobody would help me. That is not what I observed while I was standing there for 30+ minutes. All around me customers were being helped when they asked for assistance. The Ace employees didnt hover like vultures but they certainly stepped up and assisted anyone stopping them with a question. (My experience was on a Saturday, which is typically a busy day at a hardware store btw)

Went in to buy a couple screws. Wasnt greeted at all, when I got to the counter to pay, they all stood there watching me, no smiles, nothing said, no one offered to help then I asked if anyone was available. I got a shady nod. Very very unprofessional and disrespectful. The guy behind me got a welcoming smile and offer to assist. If I was an auditor this place would be docked for bad customer experience. Keep your personal thoughts to yourself, dont reveal them through your behavior.

Came in to pick up what I called for no more than 30 minutes earlier. My purchase was waiting for me at the front counter. Wonderful and courteous customer service. Thank you.

Formerly very knowledgeable, helpful and always appreciative emoyees; now, eployees have little understanding of products and mostly wear their masks hanging under their chin or under their nose. I called a manager who said hed take care of it. A few hours later, I had to go back there to exchange my purchase and found no employee wearing a mask. No more ACE Hardware for me!

This Ace is a great neighborhood hardware store. For a small place, they actually have a lot of options and mostly all that I needed for home repairs.The Ace representatives were extremely helpful. Today, I stopped to picked two tubes of caulk to do a toilet repair job. The cashier was very observant and pointed out that I grabbed a White and Clear tube of caulk. She prompted to confirm with me if I’d wanted two different kinds of caulk. Great catch. I wanted 2 White tubes!!! I will keep shopping here. Keep up the good work ACE Palatine!!

Great service

Store changed ownership after many years of continuity. During the period of ownership change the store significantly declined. Then closed to supposedly remodel.But its just not the same. It lost its neighborly feeling of congeniality, knowledgeable staff, and their spirit of helpfulness the it had with the previous owners.PS. the remodeling was primarily restocking, rearranging and changing some product mix. But floors, entries, etc. still need updating or replacing.

Sad to see the original one close. Nice staff and they were so very helpful. I hope the new owner keeps them on staff because they truly were a big part in what made that store such a unique place to go. Looking forward to seeing the new changes and the old crew back at what they do!

Returned to the newly renovated store today. Wow!! What a great job you guys did. Store is brighter and full of useful products. Shared photos with friends of the new Milwaukee and Klein tool displays. I think you now have more than other big box hardware stores. Like the new store organization and the fact you kept the friendly familiar faces on staff.

Ace is the place! I prefer the smaller hardware store with outstanding customer service by helpful employees.

Since ownership changed, I find help hard to get. Team members avoided me and when I asked for help team member copped an attitude.

I went in to get a plastic put into a light fixture Forest ceiling light. The ladies that helped me were both very nice. Theyve been only open since last Friday the store is pretty organized and the staff is very friendly. They have a wide selection of other kinds of things such as safety vests and and lunch boxes and stuff so its a good place to go if youre looking for things like that.

Asked for 3 sets of keys to be duplicated. I wanted to do custom keys for each set so I wouldn’t have to sort and guess, but the lady took the keys and just made them anyway she wanted to. Wouldn’t recommend for keys if you want them to listen and not work as zombies.

I still go to the big box stores for a lot of things. But when I need something special, they always have what I need or in a pinch if I did not plan well, I can stop by. Pricier than the big boxes but the service is always better here. They smile more and they always have the answers to the tough questions. Always fun just to look around too!

From the owner Jim to all the other clerks. Service is what you get here every time. Clean store, Well stocked, Std. pricing. They even have some old lamp parts. to the newest things on the market. A squiggly drain hair remover.

Very thorough with the explanation, and spent a lot of time going back and forth with us through the aisles while teaching us how to fix our shower handle.

My most recent experience has turned me off to this store forever. I went in there to try and find some bulbs for my chandelier. I walked to the back thinking I would have a wide variety of options, but instead all I saw were barren shelves. I also tried to return something I purchased the day before and was told all sales are final...The only reason Im giving this location an additional star is because its staff is very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, that isnt enough to keep me coming back. I will never shop there again. Ill gladly give my business to Home Depot or Menards. You know... business that dont steal money from customers by denying returns after one day.

Staff is very nice and a great selection of products for you to pick up. The store has been around for many years and is organized. They carry all of the regular items that belong in a hardware store and the pricing is average for the area. Plenty of parking is available in the large parking lot for you car.
